welcome basket? - HD2 General

like the rhodium, is there a welcome basket for the HD2 or is it possible to use the same ones they use? that includes
no push internet
sktools5
speedbooster
ssk tp2 dynamic resource proxy
tnyynt sd tuneup
and memory leak mod
those sped up the rhodium but is there anything for the HD2 or can i also use these?

Hey panda. I honestly haven't even tried any of those yet on the HD2, just haven't felt the memory pinch on here like we did on the TP2. I'll check those cabs in a minute here and see if the regedits they make look like they'd have any effect on the HD2.

well i dont know if this is suppose to happen but my HD2 lags a lot. it lags when i receive a message as in it doesnt respond at all. sometimes it just simply crashes and often it feels really slow much slower than my TP2. is this suppose to happen or no?

Actually yes I believe that is the #1 most commonly-reported issue among HD2 owners, lagging from SMS.
The first step to take is reduce the number of messages in the SMS client if possible, a large part of the issue is that the software chokes when it starts to fill up even a little (as little as 50 messages, total).
Second, do you know which ROM you have on your new HD2? Depending on when you bought it, it may or may not have the official updated ROM that was recently released. The new ROM is supposed to address the SMS lag, and works for some but not others.
If you don't have the new ROM yet, it might be worth you flashing to it to see if it fixes this issue for you...but there's potential caveats to the new one as
well, so make sure you do a little research around here before you decide that.
EDIT: I'm still checking out the cabs for those TP2 tweaks to see what might have any useful effect on the HD2, I'll let you know as soon as I've gone through them all (didn't have much time at the office today lol)

currently i am running the 2.13 rom i bought it about 2 weeks ago or a week. is the new sms interface the one causing the problem? can you change it to the classic wm innterface? that would fix it right?

Essential fixes for the Xperia X1

Hi all!
I`m new to this excellent board, even though I`ve been lurking for years. Lots of really skilled people here, awesome.
Anyways, as I`m waiting for my new Xperia I wondered if someone could put together a list of "essential" xperia fixes/add-ons/software, i.e. stuff that should be done right out of the box sort to say?
Nothing I hate more than to use a toy like this for a few months only to then stumble across a fix for something I`ve annoyed myself half to death over.
If such a list already exists, please disregard this post.
N.B: I noticed the sticky list of fixes and tweaks above, just wondered which of these were essential for the basic functions/performance of the handset.
well basicly the X1 just works.
i found my original rom work realy stable but it was also kinda slow. tried some updates and fixes which work but none of them was essential.
flashed a new rom yesterday and i have to say .. wow its like 2 times faster now but also 4x more unstable and acts kinda strange from time to time.
so in short, nothing is needed, all can be done

what rom did u flash to?
Thanks for reply!
But 2x faster, thats kindof a big deal, isn`t it? Especially given that the main letdown of the Xperia (based on the reviews I`ve read) is that it suffers of the typical WM6-lag?
Are there no official OS or ROM-updates from SE (planned or released) that handles these issues? I presume that there`s much potential to unlock just by optimalizing these things?

Touch-IT 2.1
but the Opera is pretty messed up plus it hangs from time to time with no reason (simple task closing seems to be enough)
gonna try 2.2 tonight but i dont have much faith
@Doderlei
non official ROM. just keep in mind that if u flash those none official ones u usualy break something else. it is faster indeed, panel switching doesnt have any lag for me now but i dont use panels anyway. also my vodfone internet connection acts strange. IE works fine but the Opera wont open any site unless i set a proxy. my (hard)keyboard is missing the space key when using putty and so on.
Well I don't tweak my device since I rather don't do these things, try to have my device as clean as possible, and those tweaks are always a bit dangerous - IMO...
But for me ESSENTIAL was to install FlashLite 3.1 and YouTube. That added a lot of functionality.
Also, as well as there are still some email sending problems (WM generally), I installed WM email hotfix, and also ProfiMail mail application.
Also immediatley upgraded Google Maps to 2.3 (original od device: 2.1).

No offense but I don't know how you can claim 2x faster. I have tried all the ROMs here and none seems to feel 2x faster. Even if they were faster, the difference was minimal.
in my opinion if u really want manila kind of interface then only install new rom as manila, tf3d doesn't work in landscape. as Dom said keep it as clean as possible. certain other must do are-
- do all your experiments in begninig of installing or trying apps and then hard reset and clean install all apps which u think u required and working well.
- use cleaning tools like cleartemp req very less memory
- always have backup of device with all settings whenever u feel that your phone is in
best state.spritebackup is recommended.
- separately u may use pim backup utilty for fast backup of pim.
- apply file cache and font cache tweak and clsid tweak as discussed in Martin thread it will significantly imrove speed of x1

i had an official Vodafone germany rom before.
pressing the panel button took me like 2 seconds till something happend. switching a panel took like 3-8 seconds. opening opera took up to 10 seconds and opening webpages was realy slow.
i did some tweaks then (increasing caache, installed SD tuner, etc) and it turn to be a little faster. but still nothing impressive.
believe me if i say that the touch-IT ROM is like 2 times faster. hecks its 4 times faster
but that could be an all messed up Vodafone ROM. and we all know VF tends to mess up ROMs

they do? curses... i ordered mine from the UK, and it said it was vodafone-brand (even though it is unlocked to all networks and carriers). does that mean i oughta flash the ROM to something else ASAP?
vodafone usualy locks features, blocks services, adds own software and so on.
WLAN f.e. didnt work with messenger and a few other services. just so u have a reason to buy their messenger flatrates or web traffic. my n95 had the same problems and most of my other vodafone branded one too. its kinda easy to override those brandings in windows mobile, but its also anoying.
you dont need to flash ur phone, but i have to say ... the touch-it is realy freakin fast. just reflashed cmEX GER and its noticable slower. but its german hehe ^^

HTC messaging App

is it supposed to be this slow???
i'm restoring 500 odd texts using pim backup and once i have sent a text it seems to take upwards of 2 mins to get back to the home screen.
is it that the new messaging app just isnt supposed to be used with the Touch HD, or is it that i'm expecting too much of it to cope with 500 texts?
I personally think that htc has made htc messaging incompatible with our older chipsets, to stop developers porting sence 2.5 to older devices, maybe im wrong but im sure it works better on the HD 2

eactly spartan but our msm chipset are easly capable of running an app like htc messaging, i ment that i think htc have purposly made this app incompatible with chipsets older than snapdragon to prevent sence or part of sence being ported to older devices lol
ok, i can appreciate that snapdrage is much faster in terms of its processing power and speed.
what i dont understand is this.
am i the only one having this problem??
if i'm not, and its acknowledged that its too slow, why are chefs putting it in?
surley the whole idea behind most custom ROM's is that they are leaner and faster then the stock rom. if thats the case, why put something in thats slow to the point of being unuseable?

nope we all have the same problem lol
some chefs make roms with sence 2.5, with versions without htc messaging, but ofcourse there are always people that will moan because they have taken it out so they cant win lol the best way to keep it running smoothly it to empty ur inbox after maybe 10-15 text like i do but some people like to keep them inint lol
here is a link to XannyTech's latest rom, with sence 2.5 but with htc messaging taken owt
http://rapidshare.com/files/305257043/XT_GRIDLEO_2_1.rar
i'm one of the fussy ones i'm afraid.
i did install the Xannytech rom without the messaging installed, but i didnt like it to be honest.
is there any reason why the new sense cant be used with an older version of the messaging application which works better/faster?

im afraid thats waaaaaay owta my field of knowledge you will have to ask a chef about that, but i agree i think it would be great if someone could make a rom with sence 2.5 and the messaging app from 2.1
where is sherif spartan hiding lol maybe he knows
hope someone does, i dont really want to go back to WM6.1 to get a "working" rom
I can confirm it's slow on the HTC HD2 .. ( I just got it this morning ).
I have a contact with > 500 messages, and it took me around 20 seconds to even load the keyboard to reply the sms.

Well thats cheered me up must be the app then, hopefully HTC will sort it out then we can rob it for our HD's lol
im tempted to revert to a non htc messaging rom...it really is starting to bother me when trying to quick reply to txt messages
I've been experiencing this SMS issue for quite some time and I'm really getting annoyed. Not at the chef's, not at the rom's but at HTC's messaging app.
What is slowing it down so much? My old PC with 233MHz could run windows XP (just mind you) so why can't this 500MHz not run a simple task of, grab all sms's for the contact, display on screen and allow quick sms replies?
I'm sick of people reporting on ROM's that their Twitter doesn't work or god forbid the music landscape mode doesn't display the buttons properly at the bottom.
At the end of the day, this is a mobile phone with 'smart capabilities' but shouldn't we concentrate on the more important things, the simple tasks that it should be capable of without a 1GHz processor.
Saving a contact without creating an Unknown one automatically and forcing you to go through and EDIT it. (Experienced this with some ROMs)
The theory of HTC purposely doing something on purpose so that some aspects of Manilla 2.5 don't work on 'older' devices doesn't sound bad anymore.
Also, I've started a few discussions on this unfortunate messaging issue and haven't gotten anywhere with them, it's as if people use the HTC just for twitter and facebook Maybe get an iPhone since it's made for useless junk.
i dont know why you guys are so obsessed with keeping your HD's so uptodate with updates that arent even meant for the device itself.. not to cut down on any of the amazing work the chefs do around here but i think they should've stopped since manila 2.5 came out. the cooked roms for manila 2 with windows 6.1 are so great and with it you expect your basic phone functions to work like it should plus all the other aspect you use your phone in. I am a happy owner of an HD with onkolgic ROM manila 2 6.1 windows mobile and i could not imagine myself flashing another rom after this one since I dont see the device getting any better than what it is right now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525307
those who are experiencing troubles with their new flashed roms should really consider going a step back to the software that was meant for our device and accept it's limited capabilities though i dont see myself falling behind.. for now
sorry for the double post but i am so happy with my device i had to show you guys a picture or two lol.. anyway and forgot to say that my device it totally bug free and what more can i ask for..

MOD EDIT - Removed inappropriate language
It's bugged the HTC Messaging app, even on the HD2 users are experiencing a LOT of lag with many SMS stored and sometimes it doesn't send the SMS but keep them in the outgoing folder until the next softreset.
So keep the finger crossed and let's wait for a fix from HTC!

Is this a comedy post? There's nothing slow or buggy about 1.48.
Tonearm,
Do you want to list what your problems are? Is it slow and buggy from rom installation or after you have loaded it up with shedloads of texts and apps?
I have been using 1.48 from day 1, absolutely no problems at all, at least not of the "slow and buggy" kind.

No, seriously. Original HTC firmware. Fresh install.
Syncing calendar and contacts via Active Sync. Downloading mails from 2 accounts (each about 1000 mails).
I swear, that my TouchPro2 was quicker in relation to the processor!
When will 1.60 or higher come?
Mine came with 1.48 installed, no problems for me either.

I agree with the other posters mate - I'm on 1.48 and it's neither slow nor buggy.
Incidentally, downloading mails has nothing to do with the processor. That's purely down to your connection speed. Have you tried doing it over wifi?

Of course over Wifi.
Speed isn´t my only concern as you could read.
I´m disapointed with the progress of the firmware.
Everywhere you can read about the bugs of the device and there are dozens of cooked firmwares.
Afaik HTC offered the new 1.60 firmware in a few countries inofficially, but not in germany.
When will the progress go on with optimizing the software of the device?

HTC have never offered the 1.60 ROM to anyone - it's been "leaked".
I only mentioned the speed issues because you gave that as an example of what your problems are.
If you can actually explain your problems then we can probably help with some of them. Alternatively, search for each of the individual problems and you'll find answers for some of them on here.
Incidentally, the majority of people have only minor issues, so if you have more than your fair share of problems then you're basically one of the unlucky people. There is a LOT of help to be had on this site, but you need to be clear as to what you need help with.
The 1.60 ROM will probably not solve your problems, especially if you can't tell people what they are!

There's a thread on this started by Beards in the LEO thread. Implement the solution in there.
Second. Camera flashlight shoots photos with blue faces.
Another separate thread on this in LEO (can't remember what its called. There are 2 solutions on offer; one is to use an app called TorchButton, the other is to set the flash on manually, get the camera to set itself, take your shot, turn the flash off. I usee this latter solution, takes me seconds. Just another way of taking a shot, same as you can find different ways of taking a shot with a true dedicated camera.
Third. Overall performance. As soon something is working on the device it´s a little stuttery.
Aha, you definitely NEED to read the Hints & Tips thread on here as there are numerous solutions there. Strikes me you have too many apps running in the background, not being closed off properly, plus you might re running out of memory as well.
Also if you are getting stuttery performance when watching videos you might want to install Chainfire's solution

after day one

I *love* it.. don't get me wrong.. but these are my gripes after one day, and I can't find any clear answers searching the forums.
the flipping clock.. literally.. it is annoying. how do you disable the clock animation? (I found a thread for this with a .cab file, but it wasn't proven to work on the Tmo USA version)
Opera will not let me click on links. this sucks all the way around- I can't go anywhere online on this huge beautiful screen. I refuse to use IE cuz.. well, it sucks on any platform.
the facebook app blows. (the only thing I miss about my iphone- so far) and I don't care for the touch.facebook.com or m.facebook.com cuz I can't click on links in Opera.
my earthlink and gmail emails were up and running in no time. but I had one hell of a time setting up my work email. we have our own domain- I had to set up the email through my t-mobile.com and then set it up on the device. as far as I know, it's all working fine now.
I have a mac. I used syncmate- I don't use activesync, but can't figure out a way to disable it- always running in the background. I do run XP through Parallels- but I don't use Outlook, so activesync is of no use to me.
why can't All Messages be the default screen for sms/mms tab? same for email- inbox list please?
typing- I don't like xt9 cuz I don't want word suggestions, but I do want spell check. I enabled the spell check with abc, but it doesn't do it.
I un-checked the box for "notify of open wifi networks" but it still tells me all about them.
whenever I restart, I have a voicemail and txt notification- but no voicemail, and some random txt message, and it takes the led notification a few minutes to clear out.
after coming out of a locked screen, apps are open and active that were not when I locked it.
anyone know of updates or easy fixes? I don't have the opportunity to start messing around with different ROMs for a few weeks...
I find the phone to be a buggy mess, wait for an update from HTC/Tmo hopefully or flash it.

You'll be waiting a loooong time. The best option (for the adventurous) is to simply flash one of the TMOUS compatible ROMs found here.
the clock flip cab will work.the only thing that will work on all other hd2s but not on yours is the ..51.. radios. in all other respects the phones are identical.
I know what you mean man. Previously to this phone, I had a iPhone 3GS 32gb which I traded for this phone. I had a lot of the same gripes as you have now. 95% of them probably can be fixed by HSPL'ing your phone and then flashing a different ROM on it. I am on the ATT network and so a lot of the apps that were on the phone I didn't need or use as they were meant for TMO users. So I flashed my HD2 with Kumar's lite rom. Not only did it stop a lot of the bugginess (stalling, freezing, random closing of apps, etc) but it made it a lot quicker. Might want to try that and see if it helps. The clock flipping was annoying as all hell so I just installed the cab to disable it.
I tell my friends who know me pretty well as being an iPhone addict that if the iPhone and HD2 were weapons, the iPhone would be a surgical knife. From the sleek look of the case to the smooth transitioning of the OS makes using it so easy. It doesn't have a lot of speed but with the thousands of apps and fluid movement within the phone, it feels great.
Now the HD2 on the other hand is like a broadsword. You have to put a lot of effort into getting it to do what you want it to do. With the 1ghz processor and 576mb of ram, it can do maul down anything you need it to. The HD2 you can't just pick it up and expect to use it to its fullest potential. It takes a lot of patience to learn your way around the phone. With the iPhone, you jailbreak it and modify it to be more aesthetically pleasing to your eyes and to your fingers. If you have ever just cruised cydia, you will notice not much is there in the way of performance modifications. Mainly just apps and packages that let you change how the phone moves and works for you. The roms, cabs, and registry tweaks you perform on the HD2 are more performance based I have noticed. Yes there are some cabs to help you disable or enable things but right off the bat it seems like you have to modify it. I attribute this to Microsoft's laziness in creating an OS that can perform as well as not crash at the same time.
But while you are waiting for that "oh so needed" port of Android, try kumar's rom. It might just be what you need.
I knew what I was getting into as far as WinMo is concerned... I've been reading the forums on many different sites getting ready for this.
the one thing I am not finding: absolute n00b, specific, clear, step by step instructions on how to do the hspl. I've jailbroken and rooted before- I was as nervous then and just don't wanna mess up. (I have to run anything like that with XP through Parallels on my mac, and I don't do it enough to know wtf I'm doing)

As I recall, you cannot flash via Parallels. You can with Bootcamp. I do it all the time on my MacBook Pro via XP sp3.
As a Mac user, I find that Missing Sync is great, but the iTunes integration is not the best. To transfer music, I use doubleTwist. I disabled the music sync plugins in Missing Sync, as I found that they did not do as good a job as doubleTwist. The two together has been fantastic.
I had the same opera problem here is how I fixed it

Do this
HKLM/controlpanel/pen and change the value of 'Hide' from 1 to 0.
Soft reset, then go settings tab - menu - all settings - system and you should see screen settings icon.
Then go to screen settings and enable "clear type"
that makes the fonts look better
now do this
Enable Clickable Links in Zoomed Out Opera
This reg edit allows you to tap on a link without the need for zooming in first.
HKLM/Software/Opera/Info/az_overview_threshold
Change value from 64 to 32
thats why you can't click the links, it wants you to be zoomed all the way in, the above fix, fixes that problem easily
Also search for the cab, duttys task manager, its excellent
Where is the clear type setting, is that in Opera... just for 9.7? I'm running 10 anything comparable there?

I *love* it.. don't get me wrong.. but these are my gripes after one day, and I can't find any clear answers searching the forums.
the flipping clock.. literally.. it is annoying. how do you disable the clock animation? (I found a thread for this with a .cab file, but it wasn't proven to work on the Tmo USA version)

Use Opera 10. Its a lot faster and easier to use overall (click links included). If you can live without pinch to zoom, it blows the iPhone browser out of the water.

Use the facebook full site. Its very much useable on the HD2 thanks to its screen size and processor speed. Plus if you use Skyfire with it, you have full flash support and will be able to use all of the facebook fullsites functions! (can't do that on the iPhone)

The energy ROM I'm using has the option of defaulting to the classics SMS view. There are cabs out there that allow you to do the same.

The XT9 keyboard sucks hard. It doesn't auto correct nearly as well as the iPhone. I turn it off. Fortunately for me, 3 years on an iPhone has made me proficient enough at typing on a touchscreen, and I hardly make mistakes on it anymore. There are alternative keyboards out there that people are using, but I haven't tried them yet. Swype apparently works really well, but again, I'm accustomed to typing on a touchscreen.

I don't have that problem, although I keep my wifi off. T-mobiles 3G network is really fast and stable in Houston. If you can keep it off, that might be your best bet.

I haven't had any of these problems. Most of the problems you're having are attributable to the stock ROM. Once I flashed the rom, things started running perfectly. Its a pretty easy process...just as easy as updating the firmware on the iPhone, and it only takes about 10 minutes. Its A LOT easier than jailbreaking an iPhone.
Other than that, most of the problems I've encountered were fixed with cabs (even prior to flashing the ROM). Hopefully people will chime in on other fixes, but if not, search is your friend.
SEscobedo said:

An analogy that I used in another topic is that if the iPhone and HD2 were cars, the iPhone would be the automatic, the HD2 would be a stick-shift.
The 'automatic-iPhone' appeals to a wide variety of people because its a simple, intuitive device. Most people can pick it up, and figure it out right away. If people find something is lacking on the iPhone, they can easily access the App store and hopefully find what they need. Having gone from a windows mobile phone to the iphone and back to a windows mobile phone, I realized eventually that a lot of the Apps on the iPhone are adding functions that are innate in windows mobile...and while the iPhone Apps are prettier, they usually don't have as much function/utility as they would on WM.
The 'manual-transmission HD2' appeals to power-users who want to get a lot of use from there phone, are somewhat technical, and those who realize that by tinkering a little bit, they can customize the experience completely to suit their needs. Windows Mobile is more cumbersome to use initially, and isn't as intuitive, but once you get the hang of it and learn how to manage your resources, you can capitalize on how much more quickly you can jump between tasks, and flat out how much you can do on this device. Sense does a great job of streamlining your core functions (phone, text, email, twitter etc) and I really like how you can check these things very quickly. Its also nice to know that if I ever need to 'pop the hood' and tweak some things underneath it, I can.
The point is, it may not work perfectly for you initially, but you can tweak it to work perfectly. With the iPhone, a lot of functions are kinda half-assed, and I missed the 'mobile PC' functionality of the HD2....my main gripe with the old Wm phones is that the hardware couldn't keep up with the software...not an issue with the HD2.
if this were a BlackBerry, I wouldn't have started this thread... but it's a WM device, I've only had a Treo before, and didn't really get into changing anything about it, and then gave it up for BlackBerry, which I did tweak, and the MT3G, which I did root and tweak and ROMs and everything.. I never did anything but jailbreak and unlock the iphone so I could use it on TMobile
I don't know how to do the hspl or change registries... install a .cab? no problem.. but I can't find clear instructions on how to do the hspl and the install a new ROM.
and- I'm on a mac... running XP through Parallels for all purposes.
if someone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

You won't be able to safely/effectively flash ROMs via Parallels. I would not do it, because there are reports of bricked HD2s via VM flashes. It's safer to use Bootcamp. That's what I do. I have an XPsp3 partition with all my phone stuff there (Radios, ROMs, MTTY, HSPL, etc.) and it works like a charm.
so I found a thread with noob instructions.. looks like I'm gonna have to fire up the old HP in the corner.

HD2: Not for texting! D:

you'd think HTC would have thought these devices through a little more, yeah? NO.
seeing as how i can't send a text message without a five second delay. i can't receive a text message without my phone freezing for ten. and god forbid i try and view one message while receiving another one, right?
also consider: the 1ghz processor, 16gb harddrive, 1024mb rom (on some devices), and this thing can't go five minutes without a hiccup? what the hell? D:
maybe my phone is just a screwed copy, but **** n' seriously. i just want to be able to have eye candy that operates decently. i thought that's what the HD2 was for, but it was a huge let down for me.
now, until HTC gets their crap in order and creates a better text engine, or someone ports android over to the HD2, guess what guys? we're F&%KED.
so, enlighten me, xda friendlies. are there additional text engines for the HD2? different programs to use, for faster typing and flawless send/receive features? cause until then, i'm inserting my sim card into my iPhone, as much as i hate apple itself with a burning passion, at least it texts somewhat better.
cause seriously, if i can't even stand to use my own phone, what the hell is the point?
intelligent responses only, go take your immaturities somewhere else.
Have you tried a Custom ROM?
At least try the new upgrade
If your not ready for custom ROM (like me) try the upgrade.
Worked for me, resolving apparently (its still early) all of my previous problems with the phone- like yours.
Good luck. I think this is a good machine, just has a few bugs- thats normal.

i've tried Energyrom GTX version. fully updated. and i didn't like it.
it came with a crap load of extras, and i liked that, but the text messaging was back to the version before the HD2, the very same i dealt with on the TP2. didn't like it for some reason.
are there any custom roms that you approve of? if so, please, link me to the page so i can test them out for myself. and thanks in advance.

great machine. too buggy of an OS. not saying others are flawless, but i'd rather not have the only flaws in it related to the major thing i do with the phone. and i have upgraded to the rom that t-moUS release just a week ago. it's still pretty slow for me, considering my fingers move too fast for the keyboard to pick up on. i've already registry edited the lengthymessage thread, making it so the cache is always enabled, and somewhat speeding the system up a little bit when viewing the message itself. but typing is still very slow, and it's driven me up three walls, and back again.
does the text system and keyboard operate faster when SenseUI is disabled, using only the homescreen? cause if so, maybe i can deal with that, too. sense is nice, but not everything.
Try the upgraded ROM. I didnt have that much trouble but it has improved immensely! I can run CHT Again!
Yeah, try the upgrade. I am a major texter, and the new client works perfectly for me.
i have never had an issue with texting on my hd2, i went from the stock shiped to the upgraded 2.13 and never had an issue, now using elegancia 8.5 and still no issues.

To be more specific its rom upgrade 2.13, I assume youre still on the stock rom, the new tmous rom upgrade is 2.13, I myself have a custom rom, cleanex uniQ and it comes with the new messaging client and it also doesnt have the junk load of apps on it either just google rom upgrade 2.13, and im sure youll be satisfied with the text messaging I know I am, hope this helps a little buddy

alright, i will check the energyrom page again and investigate. but if i go with energyrom, i would choose the second version which has the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. hopefully this, as well, has the messenger that i need.
i would just divert back to 2.10 which you can get from xmoo's stock ROM thread. 2.13 had me to the point where i wanted to throw my phone at the wall. its incredibly easy to downgrade. an although i gotta be deleting txt after every 20 from a contact.. id rather deal with that then have an extremey slow freezing 2.13 messaging app. i agree with you that its shameful that such a hardware capable phone has such a ****ty messaging app

thank you for seeing this as well, my friend. but keep in mind. i'm a texter. i like keeping my messages. i have a 516 message chain with my girlfriend. and i eventually clear them out, but not willingly. i shouldn't have to clean out my text messages to make my phone operate smoothly. so a good suggestion, but not for me. thanks =]

okay so, i tried out the energyrom with cookie's hometab, and the rom works quite well. ocassionally freezes and needs a reboot, and i wish they could fix that, but it's in progress, so i'm not gonna complain too much. i downloaded the ADDON text message program he included under the addons and fixes link, and the messaging is soo much more fluid. no delays, doesn't matter how many messages i have, and i like it. it's missing the spell check feature, which i liked alot, but i can just be more careful with my spelling, and it'll work for now.
but i have yet another problem! when i receive a mms, the message comes in suuuper small, and it's not the picture either. i would fwd a 260kb photo to myself, and it'll come in at 5kb. not cool, i need that fixed. and also, the mms messaging says the limit is 300K. why is that? i thought t-mobile upped the mms size to 1024K i need that fixed, too. so if anyone has some good intel, please, comment this thread and help us all out!
THANK YOU GUYS!
Yup ROM upgrade 2.13 fixed my texting lag issues.

I text using the phone key pad.. I know most of you think im nuts, but give me a phone with actuall keys and I will out type and spell all of you who use a query or full keboard, i cant stand those two types, anyway stock ROM the typing was awesome I could type almost as fast as on a button phone.
Did the rom update last night, now i have to go at half speed, its terrible.
Phone buttons cant keep up, or will lock up.
If your that heavy into texting get one for the HTC Messaging disabled roms. I run Kumars premium V2.0 and I have had it on there for almost a month now with no issues and no texts deleted which means i have over 2000 on the device and it doesn't freeze

The Energy roms do not come with the HTC messenger, he added it because he wanted. I couldn't agree with you more about using the windows messenger. It works great when you get it threaded. (start>settings>systems>sms threading)
