I found a GREAT video converter for android! - Hero CDMA General

Okay this is for people that buy their movies, music videos, songs, or what ever you have from iTunes and it puts it in a protected mp4 format called m4p.
First thing you have to do is convert the (m4p) to (mp4)
I found this freeware to be 100% perfect for this.
http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/android/download/
Note: This is a download from the official site.
It supports Mac and PC.
An app on he market I really enjoy that plays mp4s is Meridian
You can DL it for free on the Android Market.
If you want a movie to test this out PM me.
Just thought I would let you in on my research.
Thanks
**EDIT**
I found a better app. Its called Zimly Media Player.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/nc.zimme
Its scales the videos! and it doesn't have lag.
but the downfall is it wont automatically know where you were last.
I'll talk to the DEV an see what he can do for the next update.

Awesome, Thanks!

testing it out now.

Ever consider Handbrake? http://handbrake.fr/
Free and open-source. Can't beat that.
Edit: Nevermind. I did not notice the "purchased from iTunes" part of your original post.

You may try Android video converter software.

Videora converter is OK, and now the Zimly Media Player is not available, but could try Media Player:
http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=Media Player
For more advance options, I recently got a nice video converter from Voilabits, so far works quuite well on MKV and FLV videos converting.

converting movies to mytouch 4g

I'm not sure if this is posted or not but i use Xilisoft program to convert videos. What should I used to get the video full screen on my Mytouch 4g because it very tiny when i upload a video.
I have all kinds of movies on my phone that play full screen. And they are either .FLV or .AVI.
did you convert them or what? mine seem to be all tiny and not the full screen i dont know why
I just use arc media from the market to watch videos. Don't need to convert anything. It plays divx, xvid, avi, you name it. Plus it's free.

Not at all, they came that way.
No need to convert video files.
I am officaly going to say hello to all since this is my first post. I have been watching XDA for a while. I had the first G1 fully rooted with CM and enjoyed it a lot but now I just got the MTG4. I LOVE THIS THING!!! Just a small intro! (And yes I have it already rooted!)
I am also using arcMedia from the Android Market to watch movies. It works well so far. I have tried a few avi/divx files and no problem.
Another program from the Android Market is I have also tried that works is RockPlayer. Not sure which one I like best but I have both for a while and will be switching back and forth.
So you guys just transfer the movie you don't convert? If not doesn't that make the movie file bigger? But I tried just transferring the movie and using those videos players you said to dl but yet it still not full screen dont know what im doing wrong. Sorry if i keep bugging everyone with this.

The media players listed will play your files without you converting them. Your conversion has made them tiny. Just copy em to your phone as is.
There's built in support for xvid/divx if people hadn't noticed yet. Hardware decoding in the latest generation of snapdragon, yay! I just tried xvid and it played with the default media room no problem

I tried using the default media room on a movie downloaded from the internet and it wouldn't play it - ArcMedia played it just fine.
Is there a max resolution that the video needs to be in?

I did a test and moved three movies to my phone. I tested them all in the media room and only one worked. That is why I use a video player.
In each of the players I mentioned before you can change the size of the video to your screen.

Movie conversion
Hey guys I am having trouble with any player playing my converted movies. I am using the Divx Plus converter. I wonder if there are any other ones you could recommend.
dont convert the video. try using it in the orinigal format, see what happens
This phone doesn't really play very many movie files, sadly. Coming from the Vibrant, this is upsetting...
I wish something like VLC would get ported to Android.
Please post questions in Q&A section.

What do you guys use to Covert Videos for your N1

like the title says.. what do you use to get the best video quality and best conversions from movies for you N1 i use videora and Android Converter and they both are.. mediocre at best
I never managed to convert a video on ubuntu to get it playing on the nexus.
Now I have this software player that can play alot though...
I used ffmpeg, now I don't convert anymore 'cause I don't watch films on my phone
By the way, the script should still work:
avc (main executable): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1512702/android/avc/avc
functions (BASH functions): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1512702/android/avc/functions
preferences.avc (preferences file): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1512702/android/avc/preferences.avc
I use Super for my conversion needs. it's free but runs on windows.
Also since I'm lazy, I use Rockplayer that does a good job at playing nearly everything
I don't do much video encoding myself, but Handbreak always comes up in discussions about encoding software. I think it has a preset iPhone encoding which should also work pretty well for Android.
rock player... no re-encoding necessary
doubleTwist.... its like iTunes for iphone but faster. Just drag video to software, it will convert and transfer to your phone at highest bitrate possible to retain best quality.

How many 12GB Blu-Ray rips would i get on my 16GB SD card without using Handbrake?
I use Any Video Converter, it's free and easy to use. I mainly watch Anime on my phone with subtitles so this works well. It can convert an .mkv into an mpeg4 and RockPlayer will still display the subtitles.
I can't seem to get Handbrake to keep the subtitles after converting .mkv's into .mp4. I've tried extracting the .srt file from the .mkv and burning them into the converted file with handbrake but it still doesn't work.
is there anyone covering video and or audio on the phone itself? would probably be hard on the battery but I can think of a couple of situations I would have needed this function.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I don't know if you know, but encoding/decoding is one of the most CPU stressing processes. For sure you may re-encode a video, but while it takes ~30 minutes to convert a film on a dual core 3 Ghz, it may take ages on our phones.
vlc is comming soon to android i cant wait

All video formats are compressed. The ones i use just happen to be compressed better. Start with a good quality source and work down. The Handbrake converted films look pretty good on an Amoled, WVGA screen at sizes as low as 700MB. At sizes of 2 Gigabyte or more they look incredible!

Best Video App for the Xoom?

Hey,
Wondering if anyone wants to recommend me a video app for the xoom.
Ideally, play files without converting (i.e. mkvs). also optimized for larger screens.
heard about rockplayer - but apparently you cant get the paid version. dont mind paying for no ads.
in the meantime anything else?
search is your friend; endless posts about this topic in the Apps thread..
I would reccomend Rock Player. It isnt in the market so you will have to go to their site to get it. It is free and will play pretty much any video file there is.

moboplayer
I also second Moboplayer -- it's been able to smoothly play videos rockplayer couldn't handle
I gave this a try and it does play things the stock player cannot. Although it still cannot play high profile 720p files properly, still, a very good player so far.
Yeah, It still fails on 720P high prof MKVs -- it's a bummer. But it handles AVI's better than rock player(though it chokes on 5 channel audio - 6channel is fine)
Moboplayer plays my avi, xivd perfectly but has issues with audio from MKV's. Sadly, I have to install multiple video players to play my videos. I have over 5TB worth of MKV's. I'm going to have to re-encode, if I ever want to play them on my Xoom on one video player.
Act 1 video
+1 for mobo
Vital player works great

Any high profile 720p mkv file does not play with moboplayer. More specifically, it will try to play but without sound and severe stutter.
After trying numerous video apps, the best one I found is PlayOn. Early on I had issues with some video files but after updating to the latest server software, I was able to play all my video files (avi, xivd & mkv's) perfectly. PlayOn player is free but you have to pay for the server software.
I'm willing to pay if it plays all my video files w/o conversion but I found it best to convert it to the Xoom screen size & shrink down my 8GBs+ 1080p MKV's to 2GB+ for when I'm traveling or watching while eating lunch at work. I use DVD Catalyst to convert.

[q] movies on evo

Hey people, i am taking a trip to europe next month and i wanted to watch some movies on the plane to kill some time. Does anyone know how i can download either free movies or paid movies to my evo?
Thanks
Netflix? Megaviewer?
If you own the dvds, you can rip them using PSPVideo9, or whatever number they are now. You will be able to rip and decrypt the DVDs into a viewable format for just about any mobile Device. I hope you got a big card though. They are pretty big depending on the movie.
Piracy aside, this raises a good question. What(if any) converters are people using to get videos into an Evo compatible format? Also, what encoding profiles are you using with said programs?

Any tips on what encoding parameters you're using? I don't really need HD video on my phone, just a decent quality and minimal size. Similar to what a DVDrip is for the "community" small in size, still decent quality (or so i hear)
I have used Bitripper to rip my dvd collection. Each movie ends of being around 1gb give or take and the quality is pretty good.
A good app for simply viewing movies is "Crackle". It has a good quantity of movies to view which are free, as well as the app itself.
i use handbrake and use the iphone setting works pretty good for format and dvdshrink to rip and do a reauthor taking out all menus and lang,ect... using those two most movie run about 500mb(lowest)to 960mb(highest).
hope that helps

it was annoying how there was virtually no android .avi support when i first got my evo.

It does video files too.
Just try a few of your files to get your settings figured out, and after that, it is as easy as dragging your entire 3TB collection onto the program and tap Go to have dvdcat convert them all. It batches them automatically. With a collection that large, it might take a while before its done though.

I know but I will convert my video as I need them. I purchased the app and I tried to convert 5 720P videos to see how it would work. I used the option Xoom HQ2 because I am converting HD files and according to your post it is a faster option. I saved in my SD card and also in my Xoom's internal memory just to see which one would have a better performance.
What's happening is that when I tap on the video to play it looks like it will load but it never does, the video (all of them) would never load. The videos are about 2.3GB in size.
Any ideas of what I should do?

Actually HQ2 is (for 720p files) the profile that provides the best quality.
Based on your description I would suggest to switch video players. My guess is that you have a trial version of Dice Player installed that is expired.
The video files created by DVD Catalyst play great using the stock video player, and while there are quite a few market-players that have hardware support, some of their "plugins" can cause conflicts with the default video playback engine.
