Cannot connect VPN through WiFi Router Program? - HD2 General

I love the connection of the HTC HD2 WiFi router option which allows me to seamlessly connect to the internet to browse, email, download and chatting.
However I have been unable to use VPN properly. I am talking about the Windows XP VPN feature where the host computer accepts incoming connections and the client computer connects accordingly.
The VPN connection connects fine, however I cannot browse shared drives nor connect to the network printer. I know this problem exists when prior to the HTC HD2 in normal Windows Mobile 6, I used to connect to Bluetooth PAN and it has this problem as well.
I assume that being a Router-like program, the HD2 would work just like a router.
Has any HD2 users in this forum had success with WinXP VPN using the HD2 WiFi Router program?

WiFi PPC > PC (detailed)

i got usb wlan adapter. it's ip is 192.168.1.130.
the lan adapter in my pc has 192.168.1.84 ip.
all computers on my local wired network has 192.168.1.* addresses and 255.255.255.0 subnet.
i fixed the IP of SD sandisk wifi adapter on my mda compact to 192.168.1.131.
Usb adapter is in peer-to-peer (ad-hoc) mode and i normaly connect with ppc to it. i got 80-100% signal all the time.
the problem/question #1: why i cant ping from ppc to PC ? firewall turned off.
#2 - if i could ping it, would i be able to ping all the other ip's on my wired network?
#3 - if i could be able to ping all of those computers, how should i set-up a workgroup on ppc and be able to map network drives through wlan link?
#4 - if i would be able to map the drive over wifi link, would i be able to add mine 20.000 mp3s to the pocketmusic's playlist and play them wirelessly?
thanks in advance!
And when i ping from PPC - i see on pc that "received" packets are raising -
ie. now it shows 12 packets received, when i run ping on ppc to pc, the
number increases to 16 (4 pings!) but all are time-outed....
And if the IP on both sides are set to "automaticly", they got assigned
169.254.*.* IP's. Then the ping goes through correctly but i can't still
access the network. The network bridge between LAN and WLAN connection only
made things worser, making my internet connection unusuable (DSL through the
same LAN connection) so i deleted the bridge. Now - ping is going but i
still cant map my pc's drive.... what could be the problem...
Same problem
Dakky,
I have the exact same problem. I bought a Netgear WG111 Wireless USB dongle. I created an ad-hoc network, connected to it but can't connect to the internet or browse my shared. On my desktop the sent packet go up but not the recieved.
Are we both being stupid, can't you connect your PPC to your PC using an ad-hoc network? I have now tried to connect with two different desktops to my XDA and a friends XDA IIs running WM5 to my desktop but had no success. I can connect to an access point and browse file/internet no problem.
I have an XDA EXEC and run XP Pro on desktop.
I've got similar problem. I have Linksys Wireless-G usb network adapter, i assign same class IP adresses (192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.2, mask 255.255.255.0) the wifi connects in ad-hoc modebut how can sync over wifi ?, if I am able to sync over wify i will be able to use my pc's internet connection wich is a lot faster than any gprs/edge
I don't think you can network in this way - basically you have a bunch of clients but no 'server' I think you need a wireless hub (with Internet connection in there somewhere) in there somewhere.
If you do a search on microsoft web site ther is some info about using a PC as an internet share for other PCs but you have to use a very specific IP address rnge for this and set the share PC up in a certain way

Bluetooth network disconnects every 5 minutes

I am using a XDA 2S, and have a Bluetooth ActiveSync connection set up with a HP laptop running XP SP2, however, I want to connect to a HTTP server running on the laptop, and as far as I can work out, ActiveSync will not allow me to do this (as it does not assign an IP address to the laptop).
So I have created an internet connection on the XDA (in Bluetooth Manager, via New > Connect to a network). I have forced the laptop to use a certain IP address (192.168.2.1), and I can connect the two together and communicate brilliantly for 5 minutes, until the network just disconnects.
I have played about with the WLAN settings to see if they are used for Bluetooth too, but they do not appear to be.

VPN Only connect in Wifi

I am using a kaiser and I attempt to connect VPN to my office by PPTP.
The problem is it couldn't connect using dial up (ie. HSDPA/GPRS).
VPN can connect fine using wifi.
I have thought of port block in my ISP...
but when I use wmwifirouter to share my kaiser HSDPA out to my notebook
my notebook connect to the VPN server fine
All other applications eg. FTP HTTP RDP work fine on my kaiser...
Any clues on this issue guys?

weather update using USB connection

Hi,
I am new to windows environment .
I want to access internet on HTC HD2 using my laptop’s internet connection.
My laptop is connected to the network and I access internet on it using the proxy which is configured in my browser’s configuration.
I can connect my HD2 using usb as well as wireless to my laptop by making wireless connection on my laptop as wireless router.
What additional configuration should be done on hd2 or xp so that I can update my weather updates using this link.

you can set in the activesync or windows mobile center settings, to enable the data connection in usb connect
I found a fix which made my internet connection through USB work:
- Open Registry Editor on your PC (Start/Run and type "regedit") and locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services.
- Right-click on the value list in the right site of window and choose New/DWORD value. Type the name "AllowLSP" and leave the value zero.
- Disconnect and connect your device and Pocket Internet Explorer (and all other applications) will start working.
thanks jawab for your reply.
i updated my registry in xp with the changes you suggested but no success.
i am able to connect to my laptop with usb as well as wireless. even i am able to get remote desktop on my hd2 but not internet.

I'm sorry. For me I made the reg-change, connected the phone and wupti - there was internet through USB.
why not just connect your phone to your router via WiFi and use the internet that way? makes life a LOT easier
in my office my laptop is connected to wired network. there is no wireless
the only option for me to connect is using a USB connection or making my laptop as a wireless router.
both of them seem to be not working

Clockworkmod Tether on Windows 10 Internet Connection Shareing

I'm having issues trying to share my tethered connection with Windows 10 Internet connection sharing. This seems to work just fine on my 2 windows 7 machines. After I had set up ICS on windows 10, The correct IP address shows up with DNS information on my LAN, however It says it has no internet connection when tether is connected. Could this be a result of the using using Win-32 adapter? When I check the other devices on the network, they don't even seem to be getting an IP address. The LAN adapter has the default 192.168.1.1 and is connected to a network hub (not router).
