Swype Lag issue - HD2 General

Ok i know the problem and is there any way around it. when i got my ammount of messages up to about 600 my messaging app lagged alot is there any way to just load the more recent messages like iphone or do i just have to delete them all the time?

any one got any thing i dont want to sound like an iphone lover but it worked well

Well, in one of the forums somewhere, I read that if you open a thread that has lots of messages in it, while they are loading, hit the send button. When the prompt comes up asking if you want to send a blank message, hit cancel. The messages will all be loaded, and there shouldn't be any lag time. And then swype should work just fine. But yes, I know what you mean. I had an iphone before the HD2. And now I want a nexus one, lol.

lol yeah i understand that too and i always wanted the nexus one but i broke my iphone and couldnt live with out my smart phone and didnt have 500 to spend on another nor buying a nexus one outright so yeah i just keep waiting for the port over to android for this damn phone

SWYPE
where can i dl swype for win mobile 6.5, i have an at&t pure

yeah the only "fix" is to either hit send then no or hit menu then close. but that still doesnt allow you to type immediately just faster than usual. i really want to use swype but i end up with default kb just so i can respond quicker than waiting 10 seconds

I have seen threads about versions of swype. Some people have made a cab from the new HD2 update. Do a search on the forums for it.

Google Talk on TMOUS HD2.

I have a question to all HD2 TMOUS owners.
It's been stated on the HTC web site that this version of phone will have Google Talk™ software. Can anybody confirm that this is true. And the second thing I would like to know if this software works similar like on Nokia N900. I have friend of mine who has N900 and we just checked that Nokia IM soft can use front cam and you can make a video call. So attractive feature. I was calling him from my home pc via GTalk web, he was using his mobile phone on WIFI and I could see him. Can we perform that on HD2 as well?

And I think it uses your SMS quota, so sucks if you don't have a plan.
And the application is horrible. I started it, and the status of the people on my list never changed, I never got IMs unless I initiated them myself, and it seemed like the application would never reboot itself, even with a cold reboot of the phone. So it always said I had 2 conversations going and the people were offline, when they were clearly online on my PC. So far I've been pretty unimpressed with the software on the HD2 and have called TMobile about returning the phone. It's such a shame too, its a damn sexy phone and so fast... I'd just rather have android.

I'm with you on this one, but don't have an equivalent android phone to upgrade to. I don't want what t-mobile considers to be the top of the line, and I can't afford the nexus one.
All I need is fully functioning GMAIL and GTALK and windows mobile can't supply either out the box. I don't want to have to pay for apps to do something everyone else gets for free. I'd be happy with GTALK if it just told me when I get an IM. That's right, I don't get any notifications from it at all . If I'm on the phone I'll hear a beep but don't get anything on the status bar. I looked at it today and noticed I had 2 new chats that I missed. And don't even attempt to switch between 2 chat windows...the first window is never selectable

Use Palringo or IM+ I'm using Palringo, and you can set it up to have two GTalk accounts online at the same time (not that anyone would ever have more than one gtalk account ).

I missed my blackberry too.
But have you looked at your blackberry? cause, I tried to use my blackberry last night after having HD2 for 7 days.
I do not miss it anymore.
I mean, the screen looked so tiny, I couldn't read anything. haha.
But all in all, I do miss the keyboard.

I don't know what you're talking about, I use GTalk all the time and have never had any issues with contacts updating and conversations work flawlessly inbound and outbound.

wholly freaking text messaging problems batman!!!

ok so this phone is the best phone i have had.. except who ever tested the text messaging app must not have alot of friends..
i get about 20 people in the list of messages and my whole phone messes up..
i click one guy and the message gets sent to the guy at the bottom of the list.
you gotta really watch out, because it has the right name but the wrong number.
when i click messages from someone with more then 20 it takes 20 seconds to load them up and sometimes when i go back to the today screen the phone crashes..
sometimes i hear the text message sound and i have no new messages..
come to find out the message went ON TOP of the list from that sender.. not on the bottom.
sometimes the indicator that you have a new message never goes away, even after you read it..
anyone else having huge text problems?
first of all great title
im completely with you mate the texting on this phone is a joke
who's clever idea was it to load every single text every time you want to send 1?
plus the keyboard lag is a royal pain in the ass especially as im a fast typer
i have had no problems with sending texts to wrong people however, i think, maybe some people are having a real laugh at my expense..
i hope it gets fixed soon
i just dont understand how an iphone, with some 400mhz processor is 100x smoother than this phone
there must be some real fault somewhere

that was really funny.
ROM 1.66 fixed much of this, but still known bugs remain - as reported in this forum.
You were lucky not to be around in Dec 09, when you had to soft reset every time you sent an sms which got 'stuck' in the Outbox!!!

i forgot to put in that is the tmobile US HD2..
The HTC messaging app is not meant for hardcore text messagers. To stop it from loading every message, you can tap on a message then hit back.
One of the solutions is to disable the HTC messaging and use the default WM6.5 threaded SMS. Google search "disable HTC messaging" and look for Zenyee's CAB to disable it, then look in the WM Theme forum here to find some nice looking WM SMS themes.
The other solution is to disable HTC messaging and use something like BsB Tweaks to enable SMS classic mode, which takes you to an older version of the SMS app when you tap on a message in the messaging tab, that doesn't lag like the new one does, but it doesn't look as nice.

I send 100-150 texts a day, and receive just as much.
I never have any problems.
i use full QWERTY and texting speed is quite nice. I mean, multi-touch keyboard would be NICE, but it gets the job done for now.
As much as TMOUS stock ROM fixed lots of glitches, it still doesn't beat most of the ROMs cooked by chefs here.
Try flashing (at your own risk, of course), then see how much your phone has evolved.
Have you tried changing it from conversation mode to traditional mode?
Menu, settings, traditional mode
are there any different messaging clients which can be used instead?

swype issue

hey so i have the stock rom..when i click on a text message can click the area it says to tap to type. the phone freezes and wont let me text then like 10 seconds or so sometimes if i start using the swype it works but doesnt show what i wrote until i re click the screen. anyone have problems with swype and texting with it freezing and not showing what you type? any fixes for this? i have tried to uninstall/reinstall swype and still same problem.
i have the same issue..... :-(
its not swype, its the long pause a lot of people get when they have a lot of txt messages, The screen can take a few seconds to load them, and nothing happens on screen while it does it, and then it selects the last message.
lol .... with all that memory hd2 comes with u think it should have that problem? pathetic... have same problem.. want to know how i fix it? i turned off the phone and went back to iphone 3gs .. thats the way u fix it...

hehe, thats one answer, my own workaround is to not store loads of messages, , blimey, most of mine get deleted as soon as ive read them. Never understood anyone that wants thousands of messages like some people do.

Same here.
I flash my phone so much that I never have that many text lol. But I tell all my customers who come in with slow phones to delete all their text at least once a week. There is no reason to keep them longer than that. They just sit there and take up space and slow your phone down. If you really cant part with them back them up to your computer then delete them off your phone.
Yes, just delete previous text messages and problem fixed! It usually starts doing that when you have like 60 previous messages on 1 contact

Explanation of Hero Keyboard Lag?

I have the Sprint Hero, and used the stock rom for 5 months,
DC 2.05
DC 2.07
and currently fresh rom 2.0, The keyboard lag is rediculous on this thing, and one of the worst keyboards I have ever used. The lag makes it unusable..
I have installed the 2.1 HTC IME keyboard, the 1.5 stock HTC KB, and the same one on the droid eris. Nothing helps.
The droid eris' keyboard works perfectly for some reason and for the hero, it sucks. It seems everyone will comment saying
"Mine doesn't lag"
If someone cannot come up with a possible fix, can someone please explain why their is lag on the HTC KB.
you might consider using xdas
lotsa options :-D
not sure if its more lightweight and less lag, and i hate to say it but...mine doesnt lag and i have no explanation
try regawmods rom. he has a black keyboard, its pimp. i found that while i dont experience LAG per-say, when compared to his, his was much more RESPONSIVE.
I'll join in. Mine has lag and I couldn't figure it out. I just installed Fresh 2.0d today to see if it's different. So far... no.
I agree with you, mine did lag. I'm using Sushi rom and the black htc keyboard is very responsive. Also, the AOSP keyboard never lagged one bit. I love it.
I'm running Fresh 2.0d. I'm also using Better Keyboard from the market...and I have no lag. The only time I will notice lag is if the phone is recieving a call while I'm texting, or if an app is installing after download. Aside from that...I'm not noticing a lag.
I also keep my phone as clean as possible. I clear text messages once a week, often clear my call log, ect.
Its mostly the messaging app i've discovered. Try pushing this to your phone. It will give you the stock android 2.1 messaging app which I love, and it is much faster
I started using the beta from swift key and it works nice.
i have to agree. the keyboard lag pisses me off. i can't take it. turning off vibration helps which i dont mind and turning off sound helps but i do mind that. i would really like sound on this.
The 2.1 IME keyboards and the XDA keyboard both lagged for me. Luckily I only have to deal with it long enough to install Estrong's file explorer so I can slap Swype back on. I don't have any lag in Swype.
You could try the non-haptic keyboard here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660506
For me it's not just text messages. It's everywhere on the phone. I will be in the web browser and typing in an address and i will take the e and it sits for a sec then a 3 shows up. Or, I will type and it will pop in the letter, but I can't hit another letter for another second or 2. 1.5 wasn't like this, but I can deal.
Does the better keyboard from the market have the voice to text option? I've been using that a lot lately.

I have the HTC Mms .apk that came with Fresh 2.0, but I am a noob, when it comes to the adb stuff, could you please or someone explain how to install the stock 2.1 Mms.apk , I will give it a shot and hope it works.
I hate to say this, but the one thing the iPhone has over this is the KB. I am not an apple fanboy, I prefer android. But the KB lag makes the phones only input method virtually unusable.
1.5 was like this also. everything i tried has a keyboard lag. better keyboard is ok but it lags also.
every keyboard lags for some reason.

the stock keyboard lags also. don't even bother but it is close to better keyboard in performance. i wish there was a way to boost protity on the keyboard apps.
is there an app for that???
exactly, and its not just texting, every text field its ridiculous.
i just tried disabling everything in better keyboard and it isn't helping.

I dont think increasing the priority will help, but download Auto Memory Manager from the market.. Go to running processes, long hold it, and increase the priority or just say never kill, gives it the highest.

i'm downloading and trying it now.
I turned off Vibrate when typing and I don't lag one bit, prior to doing that I lagged a ton.

Yes........
I have also experienced EXTREME lag in most of the 2.1 roms out right now. Esp. DC and Fresh. Turned off vibrations, turned off sound, installed every keyboard I could find including AOSP and it didn't help. The lag was all over the place too just like others reported - not just in text messages or email.
Then I found a fix...
A rom without Sense. So far it's the only thing that has worked for me (other than reverting back to a 1.5 rom - yuck). Ic3 and MatrixROM both have 0 lag and run beautifully for me. Haven't tried the newer Sense-less roms yet.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Samsung Diagnosis App [Solved]

Hello,
I'm receiving an app update through WP7 Marketplace to get an update for Samsung Diagnosis.
However, when I go to get the update from the Marketplace, it gives me the following message:
"Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone gotten this error yet?

Yep, same here. I also have a constant pending update for some Reversi program that's not actually on my phone because there's two in the marketplace with the same name. My guess in both instances is that Microsoft is still trying to get it right at their end since there's nothing I can do about either at my end. I'm not resetting my phone over this so I just ignore them.

I like it a lot and, after the usually painful transition, I haven't missed the iPhone 4 at all. I think this marketplace thing is probably the worse issue I've seen, which isn't bad, and it hasn't restarted by itself or anything since I bought it. In fact, I even have a Sandisk class 2 8GB card in it and it's worked without a hitch since taking it out of the box. I have about a week to return it but so far I've had no reason to do so.

Same here. My experiences have been the same as yours. But instead of going from iPhone 4, I went from iPhone 3GS. The only downside is there aren't must options when it comes to cases and such, but that's to be expected for a platform that hasn't taken off yet. The only problem I am having so far is getting used to the keyboard. Since it's weirder then the iPhone 4, I'm used to pressing the letters closer together and on the WP7, I tend to make more mistakes, but that's something I'll get used to.

LOL...guess that explains why it doesn't download. That's...let's see....8 times the monthly cap imposed by Comcast reidential. Good job, Microsoft!
Oh...I forgot to mention, that's one of three updates stuck in the marketplace for me now. It was Diagnosis and a Reversi app and now there's another Reversi app. This one actually downloaded and installed, then it never showed up in the list of installed apps and it shows up in the marketplace list every other time I start the app. "I assume Microsoft knows...." is starting to sound like a bad assumption. Guess I should call their teacher and ask that she keep them after class for their own good.

I was having the same issue until I realized I could slide my finger over the keyboard and release when the key I wanted was highlighted.
Did you know you can also hold your finger down for a moment, and you get a cursor, which you can then slide around to insert whereever you want, like the middle of a word. Makes editing easier.

I have been looking for that since 11/18. Knew it had to be there, but don't remember seeing it in the instructions...
.......aw, who am I kidding? I didn't read the instructions.
Awesome tip Man, Thanks!!!
I had used the ##634# to get into the Diagnosis menu. It now shows up as an App in my start menu. If I "Uninstall" it, will I lose access to it in the future? Will uninstalling it delete the application itself, or just the Start Menu Shortcut?
Is there another way to remove this shortcut without uninstalling?

Uninstall just removes the icon, typing the code on the dial pad again brings the app/icon back.
Just tested on my own focus to confirm.
