From described above, I think what you did would not damage the SPL, which loads the fastboot...
Maybe there's a hardware problem
Anyway, try fastboot again! (long press back and then power)
and there seems to be a way to save your phone through ddms (please google it. it is mentioned in one of the threads(
volume Down + power , Home + Power , Back + power.
i press this keys to power up.
it just have a vibrate and the HTC Magic screen then stop........
i wait about 30 min nothing happen.
i need to pull the battery out to stop it.
can't use DDMS cos My windowXP can't see USB device when i connect magic to window.
i don't know how to do.
thankyou for your reply.
if SPL not being flashed (no damage), then u should able to enter "fastboot"
i don't know what i done.
just can't hboot and fastboot now.
You have to hold both buttons (POWER + BACK for fastboot) until the flash screen shows up.

This is a long shot, but I had something similar happen to me when I upgraded my SPL. Try renaming the latest spl as update.zip and putting it on your SD card.

What should one do if flashing a new SPL doesn't work?
Exactly the same problem.
I have returned the phone to 3. they gave me a new one.
my problem occurred after I flash a SPL into the phone.
so, must be the SPL making the problem.
Maybe you have to send it to repair.
****ed
When i brought my phone the 17 of jun i had the phone 5 days not rooted and it done the thing yours is saying i took it back to the shop and they gave me a new 1
i think some phones have a fault but try taking it back
btw i want to flash my new 1 but i dont want to **** it up can anybody point me the right way or come on msn and talk me throw it hope some1 can if so send me a pm thanks flyover
My Magic's bootloader is
PVT 32 A, CPLD-12, Boot with Hami
Hboot 1.33.0009
After I flash the hboot with this post then reboot,Same thing happend。
But I Figured Out Somehow,You can still enter the fastboot mode, but not with the original view。
The fastboot Mode shows A Red line words "fastboot usb" at the upper-left corner, and the logo still Hami。
What I did is Volume Down+Power,Then Try to press Other Bottom ( I Don't know Which Bottom Exactly.)。
Sorry For My Poor English。
Mine is also bricked. Same story, I flashed the spl and it just rebooted to the htc screen and will not recover from it. I get no sort of red flashboot menu. It's completely unresponsive on all levels. Such a shame, I'm worried about this being a design fault with the magic. Perhaps there's a line of models with this problem. I can still choose a different phone altogether if I bring it back.
I REALLY like the look and feel of this phone... but I don't want to brick a second one.

I got a second one from "3". I would recommend u not to touch the spl again.
Sad as it may be to brick a phone, I don't see failure as a reason for giving up. I haven't successfully modded my phone yet, and that bothers me. I'll do it, and I'll succeed. If not, I'll go back there and replace it again
I WILL do it right.
Anyway, enough of the power speech.

Maybe a solution
Hi
I had my phone end up in a state in which it would immedialtely show a black screen with HTC logo and do nothing else - even when just inserting the battery. The whole thing seemed pretty stuck
But then I found out that holding "back" and "power" down before and while inserting the battery did the trick - then the phone booted into the fastboot mode and I could start revovering it using some appropriate recovery image and an update.zip that I had placed on the SD card in advance.
This has helped me a couple of times since then
Seems to me that as long as you have not messed up the SPL, there are ways of recovering.
Hope this might help.
well, I don't have a chance to test your method.
can anyone, whose phone is bricked, try !!holding "back" and "power" down before and while inserting the battery!!
well, I don't have a chance to test your method.
can anyone, whose phone is bricked, try !!holding "back" and "power" down before and while inserting the battery!!
I found a site with someone who bricked their phone but found a loop hole. I have never bricked my phone and hoping i never will but for those who have bricked their phone here are some steps to try to unbrick it! HOPE IT HELPS! SEND FEED BACK!!
So you can’t access bootloader or recovery and the only thing that works is the blue led trick when pressing trackball + power button??
Try the procedure below.
Step 1: Turned Phone off by taking out the battery.
Step 2: Prepared SD card
Put SD card in card reader and formatted it as FAT32, copied the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Or try Sapphimg.nbh
Step 3: Put SD card back in phone
Step 4: Hold Vol down + Power + track ball together and put battery to start phone
Step 5: Run update
IF THAT DIDNT WORK!
TRY THIS!
Step 1: Turning Off Your Phone
Because you have a bricked phone, you can't just hold the power button. So if your phone is not already off then you're going to want to take out the battery.
Step 2: Preparing Our SD card
Take out your SD card and put it into an SD card reader or some type of other adapter so that we can view it from our computer. If you cannot view the SD card on your computer then you're going to need a new SD card.
Download DREAIMG-RC29.zip and unzip the file.
Reformat the SD card to FAT32 and copy the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Safely eject the SD card.
Put the SD card into your device.
Step 3: Wipe The Phone
Hold home and press the power button.
When you see the image of an ! mark, open your keyboard and press Alt + L if you cannot see any command options.
Do a factory reset by pressing Alt + W or just using the trackball.
When the reset is done, go ahead and hold the camera button and select the reboot system now option with your trackball.
Step 4: Flashing The Phone
Once the grey screen pops up (or the white screen if your phone was rooted with JesusFreke) it will ask you to hit a button to start installing the image…press that button. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THIS PROCCESS. It will take about 8-12 minutes.
When the image has completed the installation (it will say completed), go ahead and press the green, red, and menu buttons at the same time. The phone will reboot.
And your done! Your phone is now unbricked!.
The G1 screen will hang there for a good minute or two, but be paticiant, it will boot. Now you have a choice. Try to hack your phone again, because you're in the correct state to have another go, or, you can stick with the official Android. Now if you choose to stick with the official Android, here's what you do.
Step 1: Upgrading to Android 1.0 RC33
Download the file signed-PLAT-RC33-from-RC30.zip
Rename the file to update.zip and copy it to your SD card
Reboot your phone into recovery mode. Power off the phone first and then hold down the Home key while powering it back on.
The recovery mode is finished loading when you see the ! mark inside the triangle. Press Alt + L to display the list of options.
Press Alt + S to flash the file update.zip.
Wait for the update to apply. Your phone may reboot during this process so be patient.
Press Home + Back if prompted to reboot your phone.
Step 2: Upgrading to Android 1.5 CRB43
Download the file signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 3: Upgrade to Android 1.5 CRC1
Download the file signed-kila-CRC1-from-CRB43-FIX.7ca4a1d7.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 4: Upgrade to Android 1.6 DRC83
Download the file signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.

run fastboot boot recovery-image.img or whatever you named your recovery image. It'll display "waiting for device..." message just keep pluging it in, unplugging, popping the battery and eventually your device will respond and boot into recovery.
Someone bricked and i did it... twice trying to flash the eng 2010 SPL. It worked the third time and my device is up and running again with an engineering SPL.
if your device is stuck on the first splash but displays in red "Fastboot USB" message in the upper left corner of the screen, DO NOT power it down. run the above mentioned command and reflash.
deleted... double post.

-I booted the phone while holding the HOME key.
-The phone still froze at the first splash screen, but then suddenly, the waiting fastboot command detected the phone and booted the recovery image!

fastboot boot recovery?
boot.img and recovery.img are two totally different things.
The recovery (amon_ra is preferred)
The boot.img is where the kernel, ramdisk, etc resides.
you must've meant fastboot flash boot boot.img
or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
but not both.

bricked Mytouch3g
Bricked mytouch3g -- brandnew phone. Just tried to flash cyanogen test3 and everything went fine but then I rebooted and all I have is vodafone boot screen, nothing else works but the blue led which will not load any img. adp doesn't work it never detects a phone no matter what you do. It was the first flash too. Crazy how HTC didn't make a built in hard reset like you have on windows mobile phones. You wonder if they want people to crash there phones so they have to replace them ect etc.
Hello.
My phone has the same problem.
Anything that is needed done. But no no avail.
My phone is brick.

I just reset mytouch 4g phone and during restart the recovery screen just come out but I can't move down or up anything on the screen it just stuck..
I just update cm to version 3 of something
please I really need help on this my phone is already S-off
when I plug the phone with USB it response something by HBOOT has changed to HBOOT USB PLUG
I use Stock Rom just update Kernal only
Need more specifics. "3 of something" is too vague.
If you flashed clockwork mod recovery 3 (the text is orange) while using a stock ROM you will have issues. Clockwork 3 is for gingerbread based ROMs only.
If that is so, download CyanogenMOD 7 RC1 and try to flash it. Rebooting may help get recovery working right again. If not, and you are unable to re-flash a ROM, you will need to use fastboot to re-flash a good recovery image.

Your attached image is of the Bootloader, not CWM Recovery.
The Bootloader is controlled by volume up / volume down to move between selections, and the power button is used to select.

You might see if the Bootloader can communicate with fastboot on your PC. If so, you will have options for un-bricking from your PC.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370 for info on installing adb and fastboot to your PC, and using them.
Fastboot is designed to communicate with the bootloader. As far as I know, however, adb requires a functioning Android or Recovery system.

One more question, after following your advice, I found that I now can restart my phone again but when I shut down the phone and turn it on again it still stuck on bootloader screen all the times...any suggestion would be appreciate...
You can "restart my phone again" -- is it running Android at that point? If so, you can restore your phone to stock, and do a full factory reset, by putting the P15IMG.zip file on the root of your SD card and rebooting. The bootloader (if it is functional) should find it and begin the restore procedure.
Dowload, rename this, and stick it on your SD card, and reboot. If after a successful return to factory defaults, your phone still isn't working, the problem is likely not software.

I can't download it...need new link
anyway thank very much for your help
hey
i got my new nexus 7 and wanted to flash a new rom, so i just downloaded this and the flashing tool from this thread.
i didnt root/unlock bootloader or anything else, i just used the tool and did all the steps.
Boot into fastboot,
Wipe my Data,
Install Recovery + Kernel Ability
there were some more steps, but after this my nexus didnt do anything (maybe because of the missing root or the not unlocked bootloader or whatever?!)
it just was stuck in the mode with the android laying on the floor and giving error codes.
so i thought i softbricked it and googled some tutorials to restore a stock rom.
i foundthis and it seemed to work, but it was a bit outdated
i didnt get a .zip from the developers.google.com page, just a .tar, so i couldnt do
Code:
fastboot -w update image-nakasi-jro03d.zip
i just shut down the device then and thought it could maybe already work, because i updated/replaced the bootloader or something like this with
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-grouper-3.34.img
but after rebooting it just shows me a completly black screen with a white "Google" in the middle and an open lock on the bottom.
it isnt responding to anything im doing, like pressing on/volume-buttons or connecting usb
the computer cant dedect it via adb with
Code:
fastboot devices
....
what can i do now? do i have to wait, until the battery is dead? this can take days...
i know i did something really stupid
is there any way to restore my nexus 7?
please excuse my bad english and please help me
thank you very much
Hold Power and both volume buttons until it goes off, then power it on while holding both volume buttons. When you see the android, Open Fast boot or a Nexus 7 tool and flash a stock image. You can get them from the Google Dev site. Hope this helps.

While the phone is on and developer options enabled and also OEM unlock enabled, connect the phone to a P.C. Make sure you have minimal adb and fastboot installed on your P.C. also and while you're in the adb folder open a command prompt window and type
adb reboot download
The phone will then boot into download mode..

but OP will have another issue to face
as when we use odin to flash back to stock, we will always HAVE to press power up + home + power key to go to stock recovery to wipe again or else will forever stuck in boot animation
assuming if OP's phone is really a hardware issue, booting to download mode will be successful but after flashing stock, thats the problem OP has to face (if its a hardware issue)

I really dont think its a hardware issue. nothing happened to the phone and the buttons are springy and not stuck they just dont adjust the volume. Thats why I hope going back to 6.0.1 will fix it.

The phone will update itself automatically as long as there's a cache.img being flashed and it's usually in the firmware.. Just need to make sure odin is set to automatically reboot after flash.

Then it's unfortunately a hardware issue and if the phone is less than 1 year old Samsung would be willing to fix it free of charge so long as you didn't cause the damage..
Also trying pressing the buttons like a bit forceful and quickly that way if it is stuck under the actual button then it will maybe loosen up..
I was afraid you were gonna say that....I'm just out of warranty. Thanks
