You can create it, cimple create a new text file, rename it to setcpu.txt, and add frequencies. Example: 176000,480000,5280000,576000
Edit: I added my setCPU.txt

Thank you so much,guys!
Take care!

Mod edit: not dev related, moved to general

I just tried this but my 32b does not change to max 710 even though I am selecting that...it still shows 576...an ideas?
I am running Cyanogen 6 btw.

Where do you put this .txt so system can recognize it? Isn't it kernel related cpufreq, so you can clock your cpu?

30 seconds on Google got me here.

THx a lot DonJuan, but can you post you screenshots of your profiles, i installed program, put .txt file, found it with prog, put widged, ignore listed, made profiles and still it says 576 MHz

Your not going to get above 576 MHz unless you flash a OC kernel. Google for dumfuq kernel and you should find a thread called kernel corner that's here in the XDA forums. I'm using the 614 MHz kernel right now and I've been running for over 24 hours without a hiccup.

Thx a lot, so I was right at first it is kernel related, but thx again, will try

Does this work on the Gome Flytouch with 256MB of RAM. I see it posted for Android OS v1.6 but there is no SetCPU.txt for ARM926xx which runs at 350MHz but on all these sites that read VIA 8505 suppose to do 450MHz to 533MHz.

Well I assumed that since you posted in the myTouch 3G forums that you had one.

...i´m lg optimus x2 user. which values do i have to put in the setcpu.text?

Doesn't work the way I wanted it to. You can make your own .txt file but that doesn't mean it will listen to it. The app allows you to set it but the device doesn't run at those frequencies that you've put in the .txt.
It's really too bad too. I wanted to O/C mine to 1.5ghz and I suppose the kernel only allows 1400 & 1600. No middle point! 1400 is fast and 1600 is too much. 1500 is perfect yet I can't set that.
sigh.

Overclock?

Just rooted my phone and downloaded SetCPU.
Anyone had any problems with this? The app is only able to view the "read" part of the CPU and not the "write" so I don't think its actually doing anything. Its got the warning that some features wont work. Anyway to make it work?
Cheers.

Are you using an overclockable kernel?
Not that I know of,
I've rooted with unrevoked and i've downloaded the app.
Only thing i'm looking to do is overclock my phone and that was how I thought I would be able to go about doing it.
Any tips?
Sounds like you didnt give it access when it asked for it when it has that count down timer i think you press allow and it should then be fine but when i didnt press allow it gave the same error your complaining about
When I installed the app I allowed it access to my phone.
reinstalled and allowed and still having the same problem :S
its only the write: min frequency and max frequency
that the app doesn't have access to, I can't use the sliders to change the performance.
You can't overclock if you didn't flash the overclock kernel...
how do you do flash the overclock kernal?
Go to the rom development sub forum and flash jacobs kernel.

Yeah, I've looked at that, but theres no guide anywhere to let me know how to flash it. Is it a simple thing like rooting? Or is it a little more in depth?
Anyone know of a guide?

[Q] Kyrillos' ROM installed, but not overclocked

Hi, folks! Are you ok?
I'm new here (indeed in the Android's world), I can't post in development forum, so here I am.
I have instaled my first custom ROM right now, Kyrillos' ROM, but looks like de overclock feature not works.
My decision to choice this ROM its about a video I saw in YouTube showing the overclock in 1.3GHz, so, for me, this is a very important feature.
I check this in the setCPU and the value stills 667. I followed all the instructions, all the rest its run like a charm, I can run live wallpapers now and all the stuff, but the overclock thing is perturb me...
Anyone can help me with that?
PS: Sorry about not put the thread in the [OFFICIAL] Kyrillos' ROM Problems, Questions & Answers...
Hi..
choose a kernel from [URL="forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129367]here[/URL] which best suits your needs and flash it just like you flashed the rom.. You'll be able to overclock after that

Hi! Thank you for your fast reply!
So, that's another flash thing. OK. So, my serious doubts:
1 - Overclock that way may harm my phone? Life time of processor, battery temperature, things like that...
2 - What you indicate to my device (Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800), "performance" or "ultimate"?
Regards!

1.Well the voltages aren't raised so overclocking won't hurt..
2. You can give them both a try. Had some flickering issues with ultimate so I'm using performance now..

Tell me one thing, if the voltages are not raised, how come battery consumption is more?? I am guessing, increase in frequency increases temperature and hence raises consumption. Or is it something else??

I've got no idea about that but overclocking doesn't cause much battery drain.. It drains more due to data connection specifically 3G..

You don t have to convert. That was only for the earlier versions of G3Mod. You can flash kernel directly without converting.

Download the the kernel that you want from here.
The details of the various kernels are as follows : -
Lite : - NON OC
Performance : - 190-950 MHz
Ultimate : - 200-1200 MHz
Extreme : - 200-1400 MHz
Copy the required .zip of the kernel to the SD card and apply via CWM recovery or just flash the .tar as one package using ODIN.
Then use SET CPU to overclock.

[HOW-TO] Remove the FPS limit on stock-ROMs

Huawei decided to put a FPS limit on its stock-ROMs, and this limit makes a stock-rom jerky and unsuitable for gaming.
I have looked for a script that was able to remove this FPS limit but the only one i found was not working correctly.
Then i found a really useful script that disables the VSYNC (enabled by default in the kernel).
I have tested this script on my u8800pro (stock 2.3.5 + root + CWM recovery + kernel .35 by genokolar) and it works really well. The rom now is really smoot, like CM7, and fast.
I haven't noticed any lag.
This is how to remove the FPS limit:
download this file http://sourceforge.net/projects/matteof93.u/files/69uncapfps/download
put it in your sdcard
download the app "script manager" from the market
open the script with script manager (remember to select run as root and run at boot)
after running the script for the 1st time, reboot the phone
To check if the script works, use an app like Neocore (i get 55FPS).
This script should work with both u8800 and u8800pro. I don't know if it works with the stock kernel.
First you say it doesn't remove the limit but disables the vsync, then later you say how to remove the FPS limit and the topic also states that.
What's it gonna be?
Ok, the script simply edits a system file to disable the vsync...
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#zdzihu: uncap fps
mount -t debugfs debugfs /sys/kernel/debug
echo '0' > /sys/kernel/debug/msm_fb/0/vsync_enable
umount /sys/kernel/debug
Nice move, but it's not cool to just tell people to run some script from "megaupload" or whatever...

Quadrant benchmark only 1110 max with Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 3.1.5.1 N274 ODEX NO-HOME

This rom: Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 3.1.5.1 N274 ODEX NO-HOME-REFRESH+ZRAM+SKIN+TWEAKS+CRON <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166948>
Task29
Go to Recovery > SD Partition > 1024 for EXT > 256 for swap
Install MAGLDR
Install Reovery 200/5
When rom is flashed complete successfull. I reboot and wait the LED flash 3 times > go to market download "Quadrant" & run full benchmark. It's only max 1110 @ 1305 MHz (governors: smartassV2).
Why Dorimanx can benchmark at higher? Please help me to configure my HTC HD2 (Telstra). Thanks
PS: I'm newbie. I cannot post in HD2 forum. So I post in here. Please correct me if I post in wrong place. Thanks

Do you have zram enabled? Most people get such high quadrant readings because of the I/O readings which is due to the sd card class.

To be honest quadrant marks don't really tell you much. Sure it's great if you want to show off to your friends that your phone is on par with something like a DesHD but really all you should care about is whether you find the speed at which your phone runs tolerable.

Well, i actually dont know xP i think you need an SD-ext partition on the sd card. I never used it because i only had a 2GB sd card which had 2xxMB left. Now my bro gave me his 4GB one and i want to use that. But i actually dont know exactly how to use zram. I do know its in dorimanx's install directory on his kernel/rom.
You could always reflash Dorimanx's kernel which will give an option for zram in the installation process

Then why does my phone hang at boot? Read my thread I do remember reading a thread that explained how to get it on without reflashing ROM. The thing is i dont want/need sd-ext partition, so i thought i could just make one partition of swap and boom. But i think not having sd-ext is causing errors.

[Q] !!!!!! Need answers for these general questions pls!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
A few question i wanna ask that are screwing me since last few days.. I have ZTE BLADE running CyanogenMod 7.2... I had followed karthikn's installation guide and successfully flashed cymrom... My questions are as follows:
1] If i partion my SD card and in near future it gets corrupt or i wanna use it for sum oth purpose, is it possible to change my sd card?
2] if i remove my Partioned sd card, will my blade work ? what if i remove it temporarily and again insert it?
3] What are Mod's (Beats audio,MegaBass etc) ?
4] How do i flash them and what do i need to backup b4 installing them?
5] What is the Max allowed optimal freq range i can clock my blade (..its lagging frequently) ?
Hope people help me out with this.... Would be great full for all the replies....
3. The Beats Audio is a hidden feature. You wont be able to see it.
But the Mega Bass Is the DPS Manager. You can change alot of settings there.
4. You flash them via Clockwork mod the same way you flashed cyanogenmod 7.2
5. You should test it by your self. by increasing little and little until its stable.
1. Yes. You can change your SD card anytime
2. Yes. It'll work. Only your installed apps will be gone. If you remove it and reinsert it, reboot to get them back

Minimum 125 works but 240 is the optimum frequency. The Bravia engine performance boost is slight and can only be noticed by seasoned users. Also, the mods are small script files. No bigger than 1MB. Plus they go to your ROM partition.
In short, they don't take space. If you wanna erase them, reflash the ROM

for me 652 MHz is the highest stable frequency, so it really depends on your phone.
