Hi guys couple of questions if you dont mind HTC HD2 imei - HD2 General

Hi guys had a look around but still not 100% on the answers so ill ask.
( 1 ) I have a fully open networked HTC HD2 came like it out the box so can run any sim. I dont like the phone as in getting app's for it im not big on stuff like that. So im looking to get a new phone what i wont to no is if Ithe IMEI was blocked in the UK could the Phone be used in say the USA if I wonted to sell it ?
( 2 ) If the phone would work out side the UK would it still be open to any network like in the UK?
Thanks silly questions I know and sorry about that.

Since IMEI blacklists are only national (so in the country they were blocked), they will be usable out of the UK. But not inside. Not even with another provider while on vacation in the UK.

erm, are you asking whether you can report your phone lost or stolen, then selling it on?

OH ok thats fine then so if i was to have misplaced my phone then find it againe after its been blocked I could still sell it.
Thanks

So you ordered a phone, and initially thought it never came. Then you called and said, "Hey, where's that phone?" They said, "Sorry. We'll send another one."
Now you are basically saying, "Thanks AT&T for being so helpful and sending me a replacement phone. Now that you were so helpful, I will keep both phones and really give you the shaft for being honest."
Having two phones, you now wonder if you can get in trouble. Well, let me put it this way: if AT&T was to find out you have both phones, they might think you lied to them in an attempt to steal a phone from them. Most people and most businesses wouldn't respond too well to this.
The ethical thing to do is exactly what your question asks when reading between the lines: Should I keep what doesn't belong to me?
If you have to ask, you probably already know the answer.
Whatever...I worked for at&t for a year...nothing ethical about that company. I say keep it and be happy.
Answer is yes they could find out whos SIM is in the phone with that IMEI... Unless you use that program floating around and change the IMEI haha.

"More like a wat if"?
Strange, because you've offered to sell this phone to another member here already. You might want to get your story straight before Mark comes knocking on your door looking for his "kickback".
Isn't that like stealing more than half a thousand dollars?
I mean, Don't get me wrong, but you could let them know you moved, so they can send the phone to the right place.

You're probably right. But at the same time, is it worth the trouble and worry? Even if AT&T isn't ethical, does that mean you shouldn't? It's all about how you want to live your life.

Can HTC block a phone?

Hi all, i had a bad start to the new year...some teenager snatched & ran away with my Touch Dual this morning (dawn,it was dark).
Anyway, my Telco can only deactivate the SIM card. I called HTC to check if thr was a way to BLOCK the phone in anyway...but their office is closed as its new years day.
Any1 has any ideas wat i might be able to do? I dnt think i'll see it again but its really disappointing. some luck huh?
p.s. I intend to get another touch dual the soonest i can afford it..
daddypool
What do you expect from them to block? I think you want something that's not possible. However, I know that in Holland, the police somtimes sends a sms-bomb to the IMEI number of a stolen phone. I don't know where you're from. but maybe the police in your country can do that to. It seems very anoying to me to receive lot ant lots of sms messages about using a stolen phone
i thought it was up to your network to get the imei barred? if your network wont help i doubt if HTC will do much.
Go to Police with your IMEI!
the IMEI is also on the box the device came with
i was under the impression you can break a phone if you have its imei
I'm sorry...

I can't believe the nerve of that little jerk. Your bad experience just gave me an idea. I once put an app on my Magician that when a different Sim card was inserted into my phone, it would send me a text/email with the telephone number of that Sim. I never had to use it so I can't say for sure that it actually worked. I guess I should've tested it. But anyway, my point is; I'm going to find that app and post it for all.
Can't wait until you get your Dual back.

yep, i came across that software before too..now i wish i had tried that. (well, another lesson in life!)..my only saving grace is i have everything i need backed up. with the IMEI number, which i already gave the police, the only way the thief will be caught if he tries to sell to a 2nd hand mobile phone shop.
by the way, im in Singapore, one of the lowest crime rates in the world. but hey, still, low crime doesnt mean no crime.
oh my, i miss my phone so much...haha..now i can just laugh about it. i just checked the retail price of the dual here...it will cost me about USD 700. sigh...
luckycris0,
if u find that app, pls post it here...thanks..
after this lesson, i will use that, if not for anything....just for karma.

Hope that helps.
Here's an app that's similar to what I was talking about in my post earlier. The trial version is available from handango.com and it's about 25usd to purchase. Give this a try. I'm certainly going to on both my Nike and Polaris. I'm still going to try and locate the app so you all don't have to pay for it but since that time, I've changed laptops countless times, but I always save everything to disc so we'll see.
thks
thks guys...i will definitel try these apps...once bitten twice shy!
ystrday, i jus bought myself another TOUCH DUAL!...got it at a better offer..had 2 sign a new 2year contract for another telco line...& gave the line to a loved one to use...
Uhm.
I read a few years back that your operator can block the whole phone, not just the SIM card. Never needed to use it, I have no idea if it really works.
Bad luck!
Anyway, thx guys for the app! can really be handy!
will one of these appz survive after a flash or hard reset? guess not So, they are pretty useless in front of phone guardian for symbian in example

Unlock HTC Touch Diamond 2

Hi everybody,
I'm new to this forum but I signed up to get some help so I expect to get some, I mean, maybe you guys know some things about these complicated phones
Today I bought an HTC Touch Diamond 2, and it will be delivered to me tomorrow. I bought it with an Hi subscription (dutch telecom provider) but my old phone subscription to Orange will only end at October, so thats's quiet a long time waiting. Untill then, I cannot use my Hi sim, so I really really want to put my Orange sim into my HTC Touch Diamond 2. But it's not unlocked, it has a Sim-Lock
So guys, can you please help me unlocking my HTC Touch Diamond 2? Maybe give me a program or something or a code I have to enter? I couldn't find anything on the internet so this is my last hope.
Thanks already!

In your case is Starhub your profider.
Next to Starhub your Singapore has other profiders, try a sim-card from another.
He wanted to say provider,
Basicly your 'operator' or carrier
If your device is SIM locked, like the iPhones,
You cannot call or text anyone without the sim-card from AT&T
If you however sim-unlock your phone, It doesn't matter anymore
Now, I don't think there is a free one just yet... could take a while,
I think it's better to pay for the unlock then...
You could do alot worse than emailing your provider and asking them for a SIM unlock code (include your IMEI in the email).
I did this recently with Vodafone in the UK, expecting them to say it'll cost £££ blah blah blah, but much to my surprise they simply emailed me back with the code.
It all depends on which country you're in and the policy of your provider about unlocking handsets.
At the website of my profider, carrier or operator i can get the unlockcode by SMS!
Try like Mr Anderson discribed in post #9.
As we say in Holland: You have a NO, (Maybe) you can get a YES!

You really did not look very hard, it is the 4th sticky down in the Tmo rom thread ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
Sorry to be harsh, but if you could not find a thread, that is that obvious, then why did you even attempt to flash the phone??
It does take some technical knowledge of the phone before you start screwing with them ..
You flashed a Stock HTC EU rom to your TMO US phone ....
If you had done ANY reading about your phone you would have found that the two are different phones , they look alike but they ARE different ...
Now Yes I am trying to piss you off, if you get mad you will go find the stuff yourself and learn it ...
We are here to help , the info is all over the site, but we cannot do it for you ...
So don't cry when people laugh at you for pulling a bonehead move ....
EDIT:
Just want to say, just like in life you pull a bonehead move here, people might feel sorry for you , but they are still gonna laugh ...

The phone hasn't even been out for a year and manufacturs warranty is a year. For HTC this is a simple fix as hooking up a jtag programmer and just flashing a new bootloader. 1st step is to walk into your tmo store you bought it from *****ing up a storm your lawyer dad just bought you that phone and he's pissed and wants them to replace it. Since you said you bought it from some unlock online place?????, weird you would buy the phone previously unlocked then come here to play with roms when you could of skipped all those steps and bought one on CL for $250 and paid $4 on ebay for an unlock code. Ok that being said option 2 if you bought it from a fly by night online company is to directly contact HTC begging them to flash a new bootloader for you and restore the phone to factory condition. Tell them you bought it from a store and make your own bs receipt to send in. 3rd option is to break the phone up and sell it off. The LCD and Digi will bring in $130 easy, case and battery will bring in $40-$50, buttons, mic, and radio chip, $50, then go buy a new one on CL for $250. Hope this helps you more hten the previous posts. But essesially they are right, you flashed a rom for a different phone to yours and now you phone thinks its a Euro HD2 and when it tries to fire up nothing connected to the right pins and it failing. If we had a pin out for the chip or epprom we may be able to fix this but I would imagine its going to require resoldering on a new epprom.

If you hand it into the police (At least in the UK) after a period of time, 4 weeks or something, it legally becomes yours if no-one claims it and you can go and collect it
Hand it In its being tracked
Not only that, but a local mobile network operator have no right to say you can keep a phone that does not belong to you, just because it was lost
Only the police can do that, and only after they try to find the rightful owner / give them a chance to report it lost and have it returned

Wipe data & system and install a new rom via Odin and you're done.
Wipe data removes 99% of tracking apps, wiping system removes the rest.
Use a custom recovery and delete everything than use a custom rom/kernel and flash modem/bootloader files too via odin

not quite
It is traceable via IMEI.
But someone who lost this phone (apparently it looks like this) and phone was bought on contract, there is huge possibility that someone will block IMEI on network provider. After that 2 ways left. Sell it to foreign country or use it w/o mobile network.

And that has something to do with him because ... ? phones don't comit crimes, people do. Let's say police was tracking a phone for some reason, once the criminal sells the phone it will be tracked for an X amount of time until police knows for certain the buyer doesn't have anything to do with the seller. Anyway more than 50% of phones out there have been used in... unapropiate way from prank calling to showing the latest vid of a gf to your friends (and you know what I mean by prank and vid).
Let us not make any more of what it is: a found phone, repaired, end of story. Nobody will come after it and if it does you can show the owner the receipt for spare parts. If he is as honest as wanting his/her phone back at least they can pay for repairs.
Just use it if you really wanted to... The authorities aren't gonna bother raiding your home and arresting you and stuff just for the sake of a lost phone. So just use it normally. If they blocked it then fine just use it as a gaming device or multimedia device. If someone tracked it then give it back to them and charge them the cost for fixing it. If it really came into accusing you of stealing(which has 0.1% chance of happening) then dare them a lie detector test.
