Hi all!
While using Root Explorer I came across two folders, /data/local/tmp/ and /data/drm/tmp/ which have the apk files of the programs I have on my phone. As far as I know the essential apks are in the /data/app/ folder, so is it safe to delete the contents of the first two folders?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, I do this all the time You must know that /data/drm/tmp seems symlinked to /data/local/tmp, so when you delete the apks in one folder, the other ones should disappear, too, but I'm not sure honestly...but you can delete them safely
Thanks a lot

how to delete files from following folder:
/mnt/shell/emulated/
!ReadyToFlash
0\^^
I have set the permission with RootExplorer but cannot delete them. It was wrong pushing with toolkit.
Try the path /data/media to the files and see if you can delete them from there.

That worked perfectly! Great job.
Okay, before I delve in, I will say I did try to find an answer to my noob question, and did see some posts about similar stuff, but really didn't find an answer and much of it was too technical for me. So . . .
I've been downloading photos to my Nexus 7 using my OTG cable, and placing them in folders like:
(sdcard) /storage/emulated/0/pictures/my images/
I noticed when viewing in my file manager app, that these folders (with files) seem to get copied/emulated in a 'root' folder:
(Root) /storage/emulated/Legacy/pictures/my images/ (It looks like the same string, but '0' is replaced by 'legacy' and of course its in the 'root' directory, not 'sdcard'.)
Three questions about this:
I wonder, are these files and folders being copied, so they're taking up more storage on my device, or are these 'legacy' folders virtual, and only look like they've been duplicated?
When I go to view my images in the Gallery app supplied with my N7, it sometimes shows both 'versions' (including the 'legacy version in the 'root' directory) of the folder(s)/files, and sometimes it only shows one version--the one I created. I can't tell, why is it doing these two different things?
And, to remove this duplicate folder from the Gallery view, I have to temporarily copy over the files to another folder, delete the folders they were in and recreate a folder to copy the images back to. So, is there a way to not have this happen in the first place?
Thanks David.
I am trying to find the directory that contains all of the paid app apk files and in previous phones they were found in the data/app-private folder but there isn't anything in that folder and I do have a lot of paid apps installed. They're not in the data/app folder either.
Can anyone help me and tell me where I can look to find these? I am rooted and have access to all directories.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have looked in the folder data/app and they're not there. All of the free apk's are in that folder but not the paid version apk's. They used to be in data/app-private on previous versions of Android but they are not located there anymore.

I thought they'd be in /data/app too but I have apps installed that are not in that folder and all of the apps missing seem to be paid apps. They are not in the system/app folder either. The directory /data/app-private is empty even though that is where paid full version apps were stored in previous phones I've owned. I have looked through the folder /data/app and all of my free apps are located there and some of the paid apps are too but there are many paid apps missing from that folder even though they are installed on the phone.

All your paid apps are in the root directory mnt/asec inside you will see folders titled the app name. Inside the folder you will see pkg.apk. copy the pkg.apk to your backup location and rename it to the app name so you know what it is. Rinse and repeat for all paid apps.

You are awesome! Thank you so much; I found them!
As title states, to access the obb folder, do I need to be rooted?
no you dont need to be rooted.
I dnt see the obb folder inside the Android folder.. its normally
Android > obb
what file manager are you using? Are you checking for the obb folder on the memory card or internal memory? What game/app are you trying to install that you need the obb folder?
S7 built-in file manager... and of course internal memory...
hmm it should be available by default try creating the folder and placing whatever game/app you want in side it.
doesnt seem to work... tried a few times with different app... just FCs
Out of interest, If you do not see it, You may not have an application thats created Obb.
This folder is not created unless a package is stored in here.
you can create it manually via file manager / file browser
(If you create it manually, there is every chance you need to set the permissions and assign it a group)
obb is owned by media_rw (Group id 1023)
The permissions on this folder are:
rwxrwx--- OR 0770 (Owner and Group Full read Write Execute)
If the folder exists and is hidden, the application will not allow you to create the folder.
Delete the folder and download one of the following from the store:
This should create the OBB folder
StarKnight
Brain it on
The Room 3
Thumb drift
Ilttle Drew
Odyssey
(Just some packages i have in Obb)

Im not rooted so I cant check/change permissions.. But I did install the thumb drift game and the OBB file showed up.. still just getting FCs
I'm using an s5 on RR 7.1.2 and I can't access obb. It's there but the folders inside are empty. And I can not move files into the directory.... I don't know why.
