Completely lost, won't boot, confused :(

right so i have twrp 2.2.1.4 and made a backup, flashed cm10 (no gapps), tried to boot, nothing but a black screen. so i held the power button and vol down to get into bootloader but idk what to do from there because clicking "recovery mode" sounds like something other than a boot into twrp and fastboot commands aren't working. can someone tell me how to get this working again?
also when i tried restoring a backup via twrp before i wasn't able to boot cm it would just reboot twrp and not restore...
Edit: nvm i fixed it. i thought recovery mode would put it in something similar to dfu mode on ipods but clicked it anyway and got to twrp still can't restore my backup tho...
Edit2: ok now found out that 2.2.1.4 was a bad release. went back to 2.2.1 and all is good

[Q] Unable to access recovery

So i rooted my Samsung Galaxy s4 today, and i was told by my friend to use clockworkmods recovery before i start using custom roms. Since there was no option for a gt-i905 on there, i went to the internet and i found a .tar file that had gt-i905 compatibility. SO, through the amazing power of odin, i went into download mode and "installed" clockworkmods. According to odin, it was successful. According to my phone it was not. IT couldnt boot in to recovery and it always went back into download mode saying that it could not boot properly and that it was in odin mode. So pulled the battery out and went back in to download mode and instead of volume up, i pressed volume down to restart the phone. The turned back on normally.BUT, everytime i attempt to go back into recovery, it shoves me back into download mode. I have no idea what i did and i would like to know if there was anyway of fixing such problem?
Thanks

Very easy to Fix it...
If you are rooted install Mobile odin, search on XDA not on Google in S4 I9505 section For a Recovery...
Download it (Make sure it is the right file)
Put it in Odin and just press flash...
Enjoy...
If there is a Problem check your device and flash the stock firmware from Samsung and then Flash again the recovery....
Hit thanks if i helped...

[Q] Recovery Boot loop, can't go into recovery or my ROM: standby maybe have answer

Greetings.
I am sure there is an answer on XDA but an hour of Googling has got me stumped. Please point me to the right answer.
Starting point
Rooted N900T, stock rom, stock recovery.
What I did
Installed ROM Manager
Told ROM Manager to install the latest CWM for my phone. Completed with no errors.
Tried to boot into recovery with the standard "hold power, vol down, and home" but I could never get into recovery. It would look like it would start to boot into recovery then it would reset and boot into the regular ROM.
Then I told ROM Manager to reboot me into recovery.
Then it went badly... I am stuck in a boot loop that continuously shows going into recovery, then samsung logo, then repeat.
I have pulled the battery, tried to go into download mode, tried connecting USB, tried Odin.
What I want is a working phone. I would like to back up the stock rom and go to CM12 nightlies but for now I will just take a working phone.
Please help,
David
think I found the answer at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666432
At least I got out of the loop, not fixed but progress.
That worked, the only other piece of info you might need if someone else has this problem is that there is no PDA button on the latest version Odin, it is called AP

Tried to root, recovery flashed but didn't boot, now phone won't reboot.

Hey guys and gals, I decided to take my new PH-1 and root it after getting the latest OTA (this is an unlocked Sprint variant). I flashed the twrp for my build and there was an error, tried it again and the same error so I rebooted back into fastboot and it flashed but I didn't reboot into recovery. Flashed it again and booted into recovery but it was just a black screen as if the phone wasn't turned on. The closest I've gotten to recovery was the android laying down and it said "no command" but I forced a reboot at that point (I think I could have pressed up on the volume and pressed the power button to get to it from there but I haven't been able to get back to it).
I ended up flashing a modded boot image for root with Magisk 14.3 and that worked but I can't reboot my phone, it just goes to the blank screen like it isn't on and I can start it up again by holding the power button down for 15 sec. and it seems to function fine but I can't flash the OTA file to go back to complete stock or to go to the Oreo beta.
If anyone could give me some insight into this problem or a way of fixing it I would grateful, thank you.

No command - recovery

Hi. Having a issue with my girlfriends phone. Don't know what happened, but it got stuck in bootloop. So I did a Odin flash, phone had custom Rom before this.
Now it's stuck on bootloop, and some times ends up like pictured.
Can enter download mode, but not recovery. I guess this has something to do with it having twrp before I flash stock on Odin?
That no command screen is shown first when recovery is booted. You either have to wait a bit for it to show or need to play around with a combination of keys to unhide the recovery menu.
Also when you go back to stock firmware from custom Rom firmware you have to factory reset your phone to boot it up again.
Finally, after about 3 hours I finally got access to recovery menu. First time I could not make any selection, 2nd time I got to factory reset and wipe clean. Now it's booting normally!
Key combination
Hi, which key combination did you use to get access into recovery menu?
