Hi again,
I want to add that big digital flip clock to the front screen of my phone but I'm having a brain fart with getting this done. Can someone please help.
Im running CM7 version 2.3.2. Im also using ADWLauncher EX. I dont know if my phone has the option to add the digital clock to the front and I just have to select it or what?
If you say I dont have it and I have to get a widget to make this possible. My next question is, won't this cause a problem with ADW Launcher EX?
Thanks
BK
if your talking about the Flip clock that was on the stock ROM, that is proprietary to HTC's Sense... don't know if ADW EX has a imatation of it, however you can get one that is very similar only customizable in the Market it is called Beautiful Widgets and no it won't cause any issues with ADW.
Thanks Raven...I know Im being way too careful with this phone...Lol. I was going to get beautiful widgets it seems nice and lots of people like it but for whatever reason in my head, I thought it will cause a conflict because they are two different themes...I know that doesnt make sense
But thanks for the info!

If you have a certain clock downloaded already then long press on your home screen and select add widget. Go through and find the clock you want and tap on it. Is the clock you're talking about the Sense clock or something like it?
Edit: you beat me to it.

I can vouch for beautiful widgets. Its probably the best alternative I've used.

el-jodio...I guess it would be sense clock...its the one you see when they advertise the phone...it has the big white and black numbers...I flashed my phone to CM7 and I dont think I have it anymore unless Im doing something wrong.
When I long press on the touch screen...and window pops up and says add to home screen...it has, wallpapers, shortcuts, and widgets.
When I click on widgets, another window pops up and it shows a clock but its the ugly round analog clock. So I dont think I have this.
Unless it comes with the ADW Laucher EX...but I dont think it does.

no problem man, I was the same way with my first decent Android device (I don't count that Behold 2 I started with). BW is just the replacement for the Weather/Flip Clock. I even have it on the BH2 I gave my daughter and she loves it.
edit: once you flashed CM7 and got rid of Sense you lost it all you can do is get a clone such as BW or go back to Sense (either stock/Ice-Glacier or one the Desire HD or Z ports)

Yeah its gone like raven stated but check out beautiful widgets, its worth the money. It has a lot of different skins and ways to customize it. Or try out other sense roms.

Hi,
Nexus S, as you all know, has the pure gingerbread OS or the stock Launcher. The dock has those two green icons (Phone and Browser).
Is there a way to change those two? I'd like to use the stock Launcher but I really wanted to change those two icons.
thanks!
dont think there is anything like that as far as i know. try launcher pro and make it look as stock as possible with different shortcuts. lots of features in there u might like....

hi. thanks
i was using launcher pro, then switched now to Go launcher.
im after the speed and snappiness of the stock launcher actually. although both launchers i used above are fast, one eats battery juice quick. the other one a bit jumpy/lagging at times.
the stock launcher is fluid even when live wallpaper is active. I read somewhere that it is snappy because the launcher uses graphics accelerator or the graphics engin (or something) that's why its crisp even when opening the app drawer, the zoom/fade animation of the icons are smooth. i compared it with 3rd party launchers.
its just those two unchangeable icons that bothers me (and inability to add/remove home screens). though i can live with it, i guess.
thanks again!
You have to decompile SystemUI.apk, then change the images and after that compile it again.
To do this you need apktools, you can google it.
Hope it helped

oh wow.. sounds like ill be researching
I assume it needs my phone to be rooted?
Alright,
So, like most of you, I am anxiously waiting the day a stable AOSP build of ICS comes out for our phones. I saw the SamMobile leaks come and go, I saw the CM9 alpha being released, and while I have immeasurable respect to the entire dev scene going on with ICS and CM9 none of the ROMs that have come out are stable enough for daily use.
Well, I needed something to scratch my ICS itch. I installed a theme over CM7, no use. I installed a theme of MIUI, no use. Everything came close, but nothing quite fit the bill. So earlier today I set out to make my phone look and feel as ICS as possible - and I believe I managed to do just that... and I now jokingly refer to my phone as running the GingerCream operating system This whole thing is based off of CM7, but there are elements that don't require CM7 if you want to apply them to your current ROM.
Its important for me to note that absolutely none of the things posted here are my work! All I did was experiment with a ton of different resources that each excel in bringing one specific element of the ICS experience to our phones, and combine them. Well, I can say that I finally think I put together something that will hold me over until a stable AOSP-based ICS build comes to our phone, and I'm pretty sure it can hold you over too. Without further ado, the process:
Step 1
Install the latest CM7 build you can get.
I personally downloaded and installed update-cm7-galaxys2-20111227 from here.
Step 2
Download the following zip archive: Link.
This zip file contains a whole bunch of sources (fonts, sounds, animations, wallpapers, etc) that are properly organized. Extract this archive somewhere accessible - I will be referring to it throughout this guide.
Step 3
Install Sonny Sekhon's ICS Theme: Link.
This theme is fantastic, and built specifically for the T-Mobile Theme Engine present in CM7. When you apply it, ignore the missing assets alert, and reboot your phone.
Step 4
Install ADW EX: Link.
Yes, it costs money - but it has two major things going for it:
1. It supports folders that look almost exactly like the ones in ICS.
2. Its smooth as all hell. Don't be fooled by thinking it has the same performance as the regular ADW launcher - with a live wallpaper in the background my phone remains buttery smooth.
Overall, I've tried a whole lot of launchers, and this is most definitely my favorite.
Step 5
Install the ADW ICS Theme: Link.
Apply it. Now, for some reason my app launcher icon in the dock did not change - I fixed this by dragging it out to the desktop, editing it, changing its icon and dragging it back to the dock bar.
Step 6
Install the ICS Phase Beam Live Wallpaper: Link.
Its free, it works, its sexy, 'nuff said.
Step 7
Replace the bootanimation.
Navigate the zip archive you extracted earlier. Look for the "Boot Animation" folder, inside is a bootanimation.zip file. Make a backup of the original bootanimation file, and push our file to "/system/media/". Reboot your phone.
By the way, we're going to reboot the phone a lot. I don't know if its absolutely necessary, but I do just to avoid any weird mishaps along the way. I advise you do the same.
Step 8
Install the Roboto font.
Install and run Font Changer once, then navigate the GingerCream zip archive and look for the "Fonts" folder. Inside are four font files - copy them to the .fontchanger folder on your phone's SD card. Run Font Changer again, choose "Roboto - Reguler", and reboot the device.
Step 9
Install the transition animations.
Navigate the GingerCream zip file and find the "Transition Animations" folder. Push the zip file inside to your phone, and install it via recovery. Easy enough.
Step 10
Install ICS sounds.
Navigate the GingerCream zip file and find the "Sounds" folder. Push the zip file inside to your phone, and install it via recovery. Again, easy enough.
Step 11
Install WidgetLocker: Link.
Yes, it costs money - but I think I've tried ALL other lockscreen replacements, and this one actually has smooth animation and the ICS theme built in. It will also use the live wallpaper for its background.
Step 12
Install the ICS Keyboard: Link.
This is the one I use... works well, and it has a bunch of downloadable dictionaries for different languages.
And... that's it! You're done. The GingerCream zip file also includes static wallpaper images and launcher icons in case you don't want to use ADW EX - even though, again, I can't stress how smooth and beautiful this launcher looks.
What will this thread be without screenshots? This is how my phone looks after doing all the steps above (attached). Obviously I can't show you animations or sounds, so take my word for it - they look damn good, and they're damn smooth.
I hope you've enjoyed this guide! If you have any comments/questions/additions, don't hesitate to write 'em. Happy holidays!
I just use Checkrom revo with the ICS theme. GB with TW and ICS theme=perfect.
Haha, I'm digging this thread. And I'm gonna retweet this.

If TW is your thing, good for you I personally can't stand it. Still, you could pick up some parts of the guide - for example, the keyboard / live wallpaper / lockscreen.

Awesome! Glad you liked it
im no dev so just asking
isnt there anyway to use the ICS phone and contacts [including fav. category] in a gingerbread rom ?
cause thts 1 think i find to b really good , and the only visual things missing from the mods posted above
asking cause back when i owned a spica there was a frozen-eclair rom [froyo-eclair mix] , so mayb this can also b done ....
I have similar on my phone, but I used GO Launcher with ICS theme and there you can get GO Locker, which is similar to ICS locker, but is free. Also GO Launcher with ICS theme on CM7.1 with ICS theme looks great, very close to real ICS.

Maybe there's a way, I'm not a dev either. But right now it's not available, and I think we would all rather the devs to work on the ICS port itself rather than porting apks to work in Gingerbread

Yeah, I gave Go Locker a try. I had three problems with it:
1) It requires you to use Go Launcher as your launcher, which doesn't have ICS-style folders
2) The animation on the lockscreen is really choppy, and it really detracts from the overall experience.
3) You can't set the live wallpaper as the wallpaper for the lockscreen if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, if you're using CM7, you can still grab the transition animations / sounds / fonts / wallpapers / keyboard / etc. - I found that when combined it really works together to create a very authentic ICS look and feel.
Thanks for the guide! This is a perfect setup until a stable release of the CM9 is available for the SGSII!
Would like to recommend the exDialer with the ICS theme to get T9 dialing and the ICS look Just makes it perfect!
Thanks again.

You welcome! I really find it makes the phone look and behave as ICS as you can get. I wish I could record a video to show people how everything looks in motion. I feel like I breathed new life into my phone!
I looked and tried exDialer, but ICS dialer doesn't really look like that at all so... but if floats your boat

I'm addicted to t9 dialing, so it's a must for me. On another note, I see the calendar and the messaging app is not themed, any solutions for that? or did I go wrong somewhere?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Nice one
But I am too lazy to do all that and worst of all I ain't rooted yet as find the SGS2 is great as it is for the time being
Having said that the GOOD NEWS is that we will get a stable ICS release in January from the same people who leaked the first two * so fingers crossed*
Once again a good post for those who wanna go for it
^^Who said it's going to be stable??

Nope, the calendar and the messaging app aren't themed. I try to avoid installing too many additional apps to replace stock ones, so I avoided installing things like GO SMS or calendar apps. I also didn't find these apps to detract from the overall feel of the phone, personally.
Brilliant - good work.

I don't know anything about theming but I don't think it's possible to change the positions of those icons. The best you'll do is a MIUI ROM with an iOS theme.
OK, will keep looking. I had a CM rom sometime where I could move the clock to the middle so was hoping that it was all doable.

Start with "Espier" launcher and take it from there. If you like iphone then you might want to find "Smart Keyboard Pro" which will let you use same keyboard as iPhone.

Does anyone have them? I can only find the HTC One stock wallpapers, maybe they're identical? I think I didn't like about the One wallpapers was that the orientation of the wallpapers was vertical , i'm guessing HTC disabled wallpaper scrolling but maybe they brought it back with the One Max?

You could just d/l a One Max ROM and pull them out, right?
Hi,
They are the same as Sense 5 for the HTC One?
If yes, take a look here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...eous-htc-sense-5-wallpapers-from-the-htc-one/... Maybe not all but some of them are the same.
EDIT:
Ok, just downloaded an HTC One Max stock rom just for you , here's the original walpapers (18): https://www.dropbox.com/s/846f0i7syg6ldmn/HTC_ONE_MAX_Wallpaper.rar
It seems they are the same as above (I haven't looked closely) but at least these are extracted from a stock rom to be sure...
Enjoy
