I feel like complaining. I don't know if this is the right place, but hopefully someone here will help me find a stable OS version and I will not ever change it again.
I have been upgrading to what looked like great version of AKU, from 2.2 to 3.0 and they all seem to have the same problems:
1. without moving anywhere, i will loose the EDGE or phone connection and won't be able to get it back until i reset the phone!
2. my phone will turn off for no reason in the middle of the night, especially of course, if i have set up the alarm for an important meeting.
3. while playing a podcast, the sound will stop for .5 sec, work fine for 3 min, and stop again...
4. when i plug it to my PC for sync it is not always recognized. again a reset helps.
I know, we are used to software not working, but a phone is a pretty critical piece...
For your info, I am currently using Molski 3.2, on my QTEK 9100, and i have not installed anything else, not even the cabs provided...
If someone has never had any problems with his Wizard, please let me know everything about your OS, i'll be happy to give it a try...
I haven't had any of those problems with my Wizard.
I would suggest taking a look at software you have installed... I bet something is causing problems with your device.
Do you have any unusual programs installed?
Heck, just list everything you've got installed...
I use the latest official ROM for the KJam from i-Mate, and it's solid as a rock.
Also tried some cooked ROM's, but went back to the official ROM very quickly.
Ok it lacks some neat features, but it does the work it's supposed to do.
Try the Superrom 1.1...
I've installed it after long time using i-mate ROM...but it's the Fastest and the best ROM i've ever used.
If you don't want the latest, but want something that is pretty much solid and stable, get T-Mobile's 2.26 ROM. Just don't install the extrom from it.
Hi i have the Verizon xv6900 with WM6.0 and after 2 days or 3 days of use the program memory goes down to 60MB and then the phone acts very slow. for example it takes device longer to receive text messages, reply or even type messages and move between options and close programs. i was wondering if there is a way to stop this from happening or make the device work faster. i do close all the programs but the memory does stay at 60MB(Program) after using for 2-3 day starts from 72MB(Program).
Thanx
hmm
if i was you, i would reset the phone and see how it goes
i mean a regular hard reset, not a complete reinitialization of the rom.
for me, i always reinstall everythign fresh, from computers to PDA's. when you first get your phone it will do some auto-installations. i stop this and install only what i want. i dont want that IM on.. or the pocket express on it. and who knows what else they load on. you should look into that.
also, upgrade to 6.1, its the ****!
re
Hi upgrading to 6.1 how do yo do that? i mean is that through verizon or HTC?
Usualy there is a link from your service provider to the HTC site with the DL. A quick look in google.
http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=95&cid=1&mid=302&carrier=Verizon%20Wireless
so give that a try.
back everything up, it will erase everything you have.
since you have everything backed up.. you can interrupt the customization process as well, which is what i do, to make sure i got a clean phone, but one step at a time!
Upgrading to wm6.1?
UNLOCK YOUR PHONE WITH 2.31.

NOTE: UNLOCKING YOUR PHONE WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY BUT IT IS NECESSARY IF YOU WANT TO USE THE GPS
DO NOT LET THE CUSTOMIZATION RUN IF YOU INTEND TO USE THE GPS.
no matter what verizon is locking down GPS tight, unless you use their own service. keep that in mind

Yes but people like myself do have it unlocked & working.
If you have 60MB free, there is a problem with a specific app or registry edit/setting you have. 60 is plenty of mem to have. Did you flash a custom ROM? If you did, there may be a bad page pool setting.

Hi no i didnt flush any rom i used the original one that came with the device.

Get rid of the stock rom.
It's no good.
Drains battery, adds bunch of useless programs, you'll get such a better experience using a custom rom.
Hey everybody,
I've been looking for a phone to replace my Verizon Centro (I love the phone, but hate the OS), and my decision has come down to the HTC Titan and the Samsung i760 - I'm pretty sure y'all can tell I'm on a budget with this. Anyways, I found a Titan on eBay with the GPS patched, upgraded to WinMo 6.5, and has is set so tethering the phone with a laptop and using it as a modem won't cost extra. I've also found one that's dirt cheap but without any patches.
Now, I've been searching the forums and found out how to do the first two. Those seem easy enough as long as I'm patient. I can not, however, find out how to deal with the tethering issue. I've tried all the search options and I haven't found it. I'm hoping someone can point me to a thread or site that talks about it.
Lastly, I'd also like to ask you all your opinions of the phone itself. It seems to have gotten good reviews, but I'd like to hear from people who actually know what their phone can do.
Thanks for your time and any help you can give me.
i just got the phone...this reply wont be of much help but i really like it...
i like the office programs and the wifi..
bit on the heavy side but quality!
hope someone can be of more use!
I've had mine for about a year and really like it. It has a lot of features that were pretty ahead of its time that are still considered high-end:
stereo bluetooth, gps, touch screen, wi-fi, camera w/ flash
After unlocking it, putting on custom ROMs and enabling aGPS, this phone will make most people happy. The biggest drawback (and this should not be overlooked) is that it only has 64MB of RAM. That's pretty meager for an otherwise very powerful phone, and causes it to lag sometimes. Running multiple programs can sometimes grind your phone to a halt. Even with that said, I love my phone and would recommend it...primarily to someone who is not afraid to be proactive about flashing your phone or being judicious with installed programs.
I would also recommend buying the "unpatched" phone. Learning how to unlock and flash will get you pretty intimate with how you phone works and why. It'll help you out in the long run, especially if something ever goes wrong. Plus, it's not terribly difficult.
And for the tethering issue, try to get your hands on the latest version of WMWifiRouter before it became a paid program. I think it's v 0.92. It turns your phone into a wireless router that shares your data connection over wifi. I use it all the time and it is fantastic.

Couldn't have said it better. I had my Titan for about a year aswell and it finally died when it feel out of my buddies truck. Luckily I had Sprint TEP so I got a Touch Pro for free. I loved my Titan though, even with the lack of ram, I was able to do anything I needed to do. I would also suggest you buy the un-patched one. Learning to do the things yourself will help you alot in the long run.
I have attached a cab of WMWifiRouter that was mentioned in the previous post and the internet sharing fix as well. Also, if you do get it, check out my site http://dwizzy130.webs.com/ to see some of the very lite on ram themes I have made that all work on the Titan.
If you have anymore questions, you can pm me or get my email on the contact me page of my site.
I hope this helps you make a decision,

Thanks for your help guys! I decided to take your advice go with the unpatched one. Believe it or not, I was able to pick it up for $65, and it included the box and everything that came with it. Now I get to spend the next 4 days obsessing over when it will get here.

Great choice! After you have activated and got the phone working on its stock version be sure to copy down all the info in your Start > Settings > System Tab > Device Information. This will be helpful later if you get in a jam, and then start flashing away using the SD-memory card method. It's just faster and easier!
As for ROM choices, you'll get varying opinions but I mostly like my phone as a PHONE first and then as a Contact/Calendar PIM second, and then everything else considered. Which is why the DCD ROM's are my favorite because it's fast and leaves me with plenty of memory to install only apps that I intend to use!
Hey everybody, it's me again. Well, my phone is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I've got most of the files downloaded and ready to go. All I need now is a ROM to flash it with. I've spent several hours looking around, so my question now is: would flashing to 6.5 be worth it (I've read quite a bit about the memory leaks), or should I go with dcd's titan ROM 3.3.4 for 6.1? Thanks again!

Hi,
I got hooked on the 6700 (Apache) back when Qwerst was had cheapest data plan, $15.
When I had issues with the functionallity of the unit, they sent me the 6800.
I found PPC Kitchen to be the most straight-foreward and fully selectable kitchen.
Just keep in mind that some of the apps that you choose, will cause other apps to become un-available. Like AdvancedConfig, (I select it first, then I can add other apps & it will not become un-selectable, unlike finding it later in the list, after selecting other apps).
There is also a program called "QPST".
This is important to copy the information from the phone while it is stock.
If your unit comes with Windows Mobile 6.1, get it setup with your carrier first, that way CustServ. Can walk you through setting up connections on your phone.
Any way there are very many helpful people using the fourms, with verry useful information, so enjoy your experience with the XDA & PPC Kitchen & don't forget PPC Geeks too.
Feel free to pm me.

Ok, so it came first thing this morning. I've spent the last few days reading up on the forum, and was wanting to flash a new rom (for the customised screens etc)
Now, I know I'm a NOOB in the biggest sense of the word when it comes to WM but some of the abbreviations in the guides are confusing me, can someone please explain them to me, or excatley what i need to be doing (just until i work my way round a bit!)
I know that there's a noobs guide, and i have read it honest, but i don't wanna be bricking it!
Pwweeease?
Make sure you have windows mobile device center installed on your pc. Connect the hd2 via usb to your computer (with the cable included with your hd2) and wait until windows mobile device center says it is connected.
To put an official rom on your hd2, download the rom and run the .exe included in the package. Follow the steps onscreen and you're done.
To put a custom rom on your hd2, you need to flash hardspl first. Steps are explained in detail here . Basically it involves connecting your hd2 to the pc, running the hardspl .exe file on your pc, and following the onscreen steps. Then that is done, and you will have to run the .exe file included in the custom rom package, and follow the onscreen steps again. To be safe you won't have any bugs, do a hard reset of your hd2 just after flashing the custom rom. Look here how to do that, it is explained at nr. 15. Pretty easy
good luck
if you make sure your hd2 battery doesn't run out (higher than 50% is usually said), and you make sure your pc doesn't shut down or do anything weird while updating, and you don't disconnect the cable while you are flashing, chances are practically 0 you will brick it.
What abbreviations are confusing you?
Cheers for the quick reply mate, i don't wanna come across as a complete knob (although i probably am already!)
TBH, it was things like hardspl and the other one, sspl or something?
If i put a customised ROM on it, is there any way of going back or is that it then?
Also, is windows 6.5.3 worth it? It's new out of the box, so have no idea whats what yet.
What, if any roms would people suggest? Also, do push notifications for twitter and facebook work? I've found already that the stock FB app that comes with it doesn't let you see people's comments on status's etc
All very confusing so far, but I'm still not reaching for the iphone back.....Yet!

best to check what you have got on the device before you start upgrading..lol
when my phone arrived most of the updates from htc were on it already..
Forget about sspl (softspl), you don't need it. Hardspl is "better" (to keep things simple)
Flashing a new rom will delete all your settings, installed programs, etc etc. So backup what you need before flashing (you can use microsoft MyPhone -which is preinstalled on hd2's- to backup certain things).
About going back, yea you can 'go back', in case you can download the rom that is currently on your hd2. It is probably official hd2 rom version 1.48, but of course i'm not sure. But i don't think you would want to go back, there is no reason to. Unless you hate new roms, but you can always find one that is undebatably better and more up to date than the rom you are using now.
Yea windows mobile 6.5.3 is nice and in some ways a little better than 6.5, but it doesn't work 100% correctly with HTC sense. There are some graphical glitches with this on 6.5.3 roms.
I prefer Dutty's 0.3a rom (here) because it is basically the same as your stock rom, but with up to date software, up to date windows mobile 6.5, updated htc sense - and everything works flawlessly for me.
Haven't tried push notifications for facebook or twitter, so can't comment on that. 6.5.3 roms have some graphical glitches with HTC sense. Many other 6.5 roms have other customizations that I don't like.
Forget about the iPhone, the hd2 baby is miles and miles better (yes i've used the iPhone).
if you need more recommendations, shoot
Cheers for that mate. I'm gonna put sprog to bed and give it a go!
You are correct in the fact that it is a stock 1.48 rom shipped on the phone, please excuse my ignorance, this is my first wm phone! I'm an expert on the iphone now though lol!
I did read about flashing with bepe's thing, is that still needed?
Hopefully i'll find some decent FB and twitter apps that does push (I'm addicted lol!)
Umm, then to sort out google activsync again!
"bepe's thing" is hardspl, which is needed only once (ever) to unlock your phone to enable flashing custom roms. So yes, you need to do it when you want to flash a custom rom.
I don't want to be a damp rag or anything but I'd personally use the phone for a week or two before installing any custom ROMs. When I received my phone it was perfect, lasted 2 days easy on one charge (with everything set to auto update) and had no camera issues. I then installed the unofficial 1.48 and now the battery struggles to get 2 days even with most auto updates turned off and the camera developed the over exposure issue. Now I regret updating it and am slightly hesitant to do it again.
Also, most custom ROMs at the moment do not have very major upgrades to them and are usually just very slightly tweaked. I'm waiting for something more worthwhile to be released (like WM6.5.3 with a fully functional Sense) before I go and HSPL my phone. Take a look at this user for an example of what might happen.
But then again I may be acting over cautious and might not be enjoying the full power and epic-ness out of my HD2.

What is unofficial 1.48? There is an official 1.48, and most unofficial custom roms are based on a higher rom version than 1.48. I think you're being a little over cautious, I have flashed practically millions of roms on HTC devices and never experienced a problem. The problems you are having with battery and camera are probably related to your custom rom choice and/or your settings.
But you're right that there isn't a world of difference between the stock rom and newest custom roms, the hd2 is a relatively new device. Still, I feel you can't go wrong by updating the rom to a good custom one, and it will be better than the stock rom. Dutty's holy grail 0.3a is my recommendation, but to each one his own.
Slow down mate!
Northerneil,
I know you are dying to get into your device and flash roms like there's no tomorrow. I say STOP, slow down, take your time.
I would get to know how your device works the way it is first. One good thing about this is that if there any hardware problems you can return the device as an exchange without having to undo loads of changes that are NOT warranty friendly.
Next, READ, READ and READ again. Flashing roms sounds quite simple and the process has improved tremendously. The problem isn't flashing a rom; its knowing how to recover if it all goes wrong. Its getting to know the pitfalls and how to get out of them e.g your device rebooting for no reason, which is a problem some serial flashers are having right now.
Welcome on board, hope you heed my advice although I appreciate you are a big boy and can do what you want. However a bricked device can take a long time to fix, even if you know what you are doing, and if you are lvery ucky.
WB
PS: Feel free to PM me if you want to know more about certain functions and abbreviations. You need to know as much as possible before you start tinkering with your device.

By "unofficial" I was referring to the 1.48 405 WWE that was available for download before HTC made it official on their website.
I am still running that "unofficial" 1.48 ROM with the stock settings so I doubt that these problems have anything to do with my settings.
is there any benifit to not flashing roms, i have a mac so i cant right now im just running the phone as is ive had it since tuesday and only 2 freezes so today i decided to start deleting everything i dont use regularly and tryin to minimize apps for example getting rid of all messaging clients and using palringo. sucks that i cant do all the fun stuff unless i go to a friends and use his computer( what a hassle) thanks to this i might just return hd2 n go for nexus 1 ... sucks this fone is a beast to bad i cant utilize it to its fullest advantage

there's some stuff you can do with a mac, i believe bootcamp with xp allows for flashing, , i think its hspl that you cant do (but not sure, i dont have one.)
heres some reading
I'm running stock rom. Deleted all the apps that came with it including transformers. I got the phone the day it came out. I've had one major freeze where I had to soft reset, and a couple small ones where it just started working again. I'm happy with the stock rom but I'm still window shopping for custom ones. Every time I see one I might use I see a different one I like too. Its so hard to choose!
I've just spent a week testing out various custom ROMs. There are some that just plain don't work, lock ups, etc. There are some that work fine, but don't really add anything other than pretties and the like. Stuff that's usually easy enough to get seperate. Some do offer later versions of Windows Mobile, but I'm not seeing _major_ improvement or "must have" features of those.
There is one thing I can say about all the custom ROMs. I purchased a "data sync and charge" cable from Orion Gadgets. I couldn't get it to work for data at all. Then I realized I had only used it with custom ROMs. Just a few minutes ago, I reflashed the shipping T-Mobile ROM back onto my HD2. The Orion cable works for data flawlessly now.
So, while none of the custom ROMs have made me go "Wow!", they have all failed to work with the extra cables I've purchased to use with my HD2.
