Hello,
How does one control the homescreen weather app (new verizon imagio)? I live in Raleigh, and have set the cities to figure out current city, Raleigh, and London. But for some reason, the homescreen app is displaying information for Secunderabad (high of 109, low of 80), which must actually be somewhere in BFE...so WTF?
d
I live in Chapel Hill, down the road from you, and I sometimes have it tell me I'm in Chisnau (no idea where this is-Google Maps is telling me Moldova), but I wonder if it has anything to do with the GPS maybe not getting signal, or sufficient signal? Happens when I'm at work more than not, inside a metal building.
Good luck!

Whats up guys
Is anyone interested in developing an app that will automatically update your wallpaper to show your location on a map? Specifying the interval and everything.
Would probably eat up battery..what do you guys think?
Joe
Interesting idea, but some observations:
You need to have the map at least for the home city and be able to locate your coordinates.
As you mentioned, battery life may be drastically shortened.
While in a building you won't be able to get a fix.
It may interfere and periodically slow down other processes.
Quite honestly, putting a map as a wallpaper is not exactly attractive.
I usually know where I am
Ahhhhhhh, where am I?? Whew, thanks wallpaper! Just kidding, cool idea, your better off just using GPS Today, it has a plugin that can obtain a fix at set intervals and display the info your looking for, including direction and speed. You can also pull up the map from the plugin, and see how far you are from the closest contact.
I've searched for this issue without success.
I love my HD2, but the weather it displays is simply wrong.
The temperatures are often (almost all the time), much different from reality, and what I mean by reality is the actual temperature in my city as reported by Environment Canada.
For example, right now it's 12C, but my HD2 is reporting 8C. Yes, I just updated the phone, and this problem occurs virtually ALL the time.
The actual weather conditions are often wrong, too, but not as often as the temperature differences.
Where does the HD2 get its temperature from? Can it be changed?
Thanks,
Peter
this is true, yesterday i was in Southport,UK..it was bright and sunny and abt 9 or 10 degrees, but for some reason accuweather thought it was 3 degrees with heavy rain. this obv, is not the phones fault..but is there any way we can link the weather app to a more reliable source?

Hmm, "Accuweather" appears to be an oxymoron.
Yes, I wish there was another link to which we could direct the application.
Not Accuweather ... ?
You suggested that it's Accuweather from which the HD2 gets its weather; however, I just checked Accuweather's Canada site, and their information for Mississauga, where I live is, in fact, correct.
So, I wonder where the HD2 gets its data?

On a related issue, I just tried entering the city where my in-laws live, Jinhua, Zhejiang, China.
On Accuweather's site, there are five possibilities for Jinhua, but on the HD2, the moment I enter the name Jinhua, there is but ONE selection. How can I be sure it's the right one? I checked all five sites in China, and their weather reports vary widely.
it must be the same place APPLE IPHONE get's its weather update.
Right now it is:
66 degree F on Weather Channel App
My desktop Accuweather displays 68 deg. F
My IPHONE is showing 43 deg. F and rainy. It's not raining outside - Its sunny!
Weather very strange ...
Okay, now I'm even more confused.
I noticed on the main weather screen a link to "More Detail Online" towards the lower right. I clicked on that and got Accuweather's mobile site for my location, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Now here's what's strange: According to Environment Canada, the current temperature is 9C at Pearson Airport, not far from where I live, and where the weather facility is located.
My HD2 main screen, just updated, says that the temperature is 3C, but when I click on the link noted above, and go to the online site, Accuweather says it's 9C, the accurate temperature.
Why does my HD2 main screen not reflect Accuweather's data, the site from which it gets its weather?
Anyone?
This is really stupid. What's the point of having weather on your main screen if it's not accurate (not even remotely accurate), especially with such a great home screen weather display?
It's obvious that Sense uses Accuweather as its source. Question though is it the phone/software that messes up so there are sometimes huge differences between phone and Accuweather website ? Try another weather program to find that out. I can recommend you two excellent programs:
1. Touch Weather, which has multiple providers, such as AccuWeather, GisMeteo, Wetter.com, etc (www.touch-weather.com). There is a 15 day trial of the Pro version
2. G-Weather from www.ageye.de (only for Europeans). Also here a trial version.
Personally I use Touch Weather, G-Weather, SPB Weather and Sense UI weather in that order.
P.S. In most cases Sense is giving me the right weather information of my choosen location.
Hi All,
For those asian phone with new rom 1.36.707.3 (94538)..
I notice my home page n weather is not able to detect my location now.. i only see Singapore in my weather, i used to be able to see the more specific area when i update...
Anyone encounter this? Wanting to do a hard reset but wanna confirm, lest i hard reset and still the same.. lol
My location still works fine after the upgrade. I notice a slight hic up once. But not too far from my location. Still within the same metropolitan area.
You can modify the weather location. Remove the cities you don't need. And then add and rearrange the cities you need.
Hi there,
Not sure if this is a Quantum issue or a WP7 issue, but some of my Live Tiles aren't so "Live" anymore.
Particularly Weatherbug doesn't update anymore. The app is fine, but the tile is not.
I removed locations, changed Live Tile settings, uninstalled, reinstalled, unpinned it, rebooted, re-pinned it, etc.
I'm wondering if it is a another app that does Live Tile things that busted it. For instance, OMG (the game) wouldn't start when I installed the really terrible Amazon app (which put itself in Games for some reason). Once the Amazon app was gone, OMG was fine.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if they found a fix.
Thanks,

Same issue with weatherbug... only updates if I go into the app and look at the weather...
I was having the same problem too, but it fixes itself somehow... maybe on weatherbug's side?
Drop Weatherbug and switch to Weather Channel. It's better anyway.
I think it was an app conflict. The AP News app also had a stuck Dead Tile.
After I moved Smug Seven off the home screen, opened AP a couple times, the WeatherBug and AP tiles started to update again. It wasn't just WeatherBug. I think it was an implementation bug in Smug Seven (it was a new app feature back then).
As an aside (since nobody asked)... I had both Weather Channel and WeatherBug installed. And a couple other weather things. I ditched Weather Channel because the design of the app is a total afterthought for WP7. I didn't like their iPhone app either. Weather Channel wanted you to buy their real app. Maybe they have the same strategy here too.
Anyway, to me it looks cluttered. It could just be the background image fighting with the foreground info. It also hung on me a few times.
Visually, I think WeatherBug's app looks cleaner and has more of the details I like. It also leverages the Metro metaphor's strengths (like being able to flick between summaries and hourly forecasts). It has a few weird things too and some of the features may be hidden to some users (like tapping the city name).
At least we have some apps to choose from!

Hello fellow Nexus Foursians,
I've recently discovered UCCWidgets and I've been happily constructing various minimalist widgets. However, UCCW doesn't ever find my location for weather related widget functions. In fact, GPS in general fails to work on my N4 unless I fire up GPS Test (once per boot cycle). Once GPS Test has achieved a lock (usually quickly, sometimes a couple of minutes) the other GPS related apps work, except UCCW. Are you guys seeing this behavior? UCCW suggests achieving a location lock in Google Maps and then using Automatic Location but that doesn't work for me, either. Heck, even Manual Location fails to update weather conditions most of the time even in different locales in a suburban area.
Also, UCCW's Hotspot feature for some reason does not open weather apps. I've tried Accuweather and The Weather Channel but neither will open as an App from Hotspot. Every other app (not weather related) that I've tested will open but not the weather apps, which sucks because mostly I want to create a decent minimalist weather widget, since Beautiful Widgets' developers intentionally broke theirs.
Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi. "LOCATION NOT AVAILABLE" looks pretty in Roboto Bold Caps font but it isn't impressing the ladies.
" In fact, GPS in general fails to work on my N4 unless I fire up GPS Test (once per boot cycle). Once GPS Test has achieved a lock (usually quickly, sometimes a couple of minutes) the other GPS related apps work"
I'm recognizing this. I tried allowing location services and all, but it made no difference. I'm not really worried as it's obviously a software-related problem, that can ben fixed with a bit of a work-a-round.
Same problem with me. Been flashing different ROMs but haven't found a solution yet. Just have to keep using GPS test to get a lock first.
