i searched with my infant search skills to no avail. When i first got my Tmo HD2 and hooked it to my laptop (vista 64 bit) it showed up as two discs one was the device memory and the other was the SD card.
Now all i get is the SD card and it is named Double Twist. is there any way to get it back to what it was without a complete hard reset?
try a soft reset and have you tried the SD card with another device or with direct connecting to your PC?
do you have the mobile set to connect in hard drive mode? can only see sd card in disk mode.
settings menu all settings connections usb to pc - check the settings there.
i have it connecting in hard disc mode. I can see the storage card file structure fine. just not the device built in memory file structure
If you connect in "Hard Disk" mode you won't be able to see the internal memory of the phone you have to connect in "ActiveSync" mode.
thank you very much

I just noticed that my phone is not seeing the MicroSD card in the system.
I have reseated the card and soft reset the phone so far, but cannot get the card to be seen again.
I was able to transfer some files to the card this morning so something must have happened after the transfer...
Anyone else see this problem?
I guess this has been moved here, so I'll mention this is the T-Mo US version. Stock ROM
Same issue...
I Have had the same issue... Figured it out when I wanted to run an app that was installed on my sd card... Had to Take out card, put it back and reboot the phone. If it happens again, will be taking phone back to T-Mobile to have them take care of issue.
Yea, that def. doesnt sound like how it's intended to be...
The card mounts in Windows, while its in the phone and I can transfer to it, but cant be viewed on the phone.

Check that you haven't got a 2nd 'Storage Card2' in the phone root folder - This sometimes happens if you try to reference the card while it isn't installed - another 'Storage Card' is generated.
If so, use file explorer, gsfinder or Total Commander to find your (correct) card and delete the temporary one.

Also Unable to Read SD Card
I am having a similar issue. Got my HD2 (TMO US, stock ROM) on launch day, SD card wasn't recognized starting last night. The phone asks me to format the SD card after a soft reset. When I connect to the PC via USB in Disk Drive mode, as soon as I try to explore the SD card the PC asks me to format it. Programs that I have installed to the storage card show up with a generic icon and do not start.
Maybe those of you having problems can provide some additional info about any changes to your device, and we may find something in common. Here's what I can think of that's associated with my phone:
- Customizations with BsB Tweaks and HD2Tweak (tried backing out the FAT cache settings already and resetting, card is still not recognized)
- A small number of manual registry changes which I can't verify because, of course, I wrote the backup files to the SD card *facepalm*
- Cookie's Home Tab
- Some additional games, Google Maps, Google Mobile App, Total Commander, PHM RegEdit, a few other random apps from O!Market
I also have Pointsec encryption on my laptop, which is notorious for trying to grab a hold of removable media and "protect" it.
My SD Card just showed up.
I had made no changes to the ROM at all. Completely stock, no CABs installed.
Since then I have installed some registry tweaks and some apps.
But thats my giving to a solution, which is nothing lol..
I have noticed however, that when the phone is mounted to my PC and Im in the folder, I cant browse to the SD Card on the phone...
Anyone else see that?
I believe I know the problem. IT happened to me several times, until I unplugged the USB cable, then the SD card magically appeared again.
When ever the phone is tethered, or connected to USB, the SD card is not vissible on the phone via file manager.
It should be visible via the laptop or PC explorer
Card Now Visible
I did have to format my storage card to get it to be recognized by the HD2. In case anyone else runs into the same problem, here are the steps I followed:
- Removed microSD card from device, put in adapter, and attached to computer
- Used TestDisk (www[.]cgsecurity[.]org/wiki/TestDisk) to view the data on the drive. I was able to recover all of the files and directories.
- Copied the recovered files to my computer's hard drive
- Removed microSD card from computer, put in phone, and allowed phone to format when the dialog box appeared
- Removed card from phone, attached to computer, copied recovered files to card
- Put card in phone and soft reset
Hopefully this helps someone out who runs into a similar problem.
Thanks for the above post - that definitely helped me this morning as I thought my storage card had stopped working.
Seems daft when you plug in the USB cable from PC that phone then shows storage card as not installed.
Hello,
I'm having issues with my Micro SDHC 8GB card (class 6). Whenever I connect the MicroSD card to my diamond2 phone, it works for a while and then it disconnects (the phone does not detect that there is a microSD card connected). To get my phone to detect the card, I either manually remove the card from the phone and insert it back in, and if that doesn't work, I soft reset.
I don't think its because of the card since it works flawlessly on my computer and I don't think its from the ROM, since before updating to Dutty ROMS, I used to get the same issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards
Your card is likely going bad. The phone will lose it first then the PC.
You may want to back it up and reformat it.
I just lost my SanDisk 16gb after multiple times of reformatting it and eventually is would crash again. No physical damage to the card. Just couldn't take the rewriting and deletions....
Connection mode issue
When you connect your USB. You have 3 options. Active sync, internet sharing or Disk drive. I think your's might be in the disk drive mode. So it doesnt read in your windows as HTC Hero drive. But check out if there is another extra drive that shows on your My Computer. If it is so, select the option Active sync and you can see your Micro SD card there.
Thanks,
Raj
Hi, I having a problem where it either takes ages (more than 3 mins) for windows to recognise the SD cards when I connect via USB, or else doesn't recognise there is any external storage connected to the PC..seems to happen on different PC's so it seems to be an issue with the SGS (my old G1 always works fine).
When I connect to the PC, It asks which type of connection i want, I select Mass Storage and then mount the SD card.
Edit: and when it DOES recognise the card, There are no files listed in it....
Edit: THis also happens when connected to Kies...both cards appear empty
Have you tried to use "Mass storage" option instead of "Ask on connection"?
Yeah, tried both. Now no XP machine will recognise phone...
Tried it on Ubuntu and works straigth away
First i would like to thank you all for some interesting reading
i have just recieved my DHD and love it, my problem is that my sd card shows up just fine on the phone telling me i can unmount it and available space blah, blah, on the same screen when i connect it to the pc running windows 7 as soon as i select disk drive the sd card is un-mounted and then it is not visible in windows explorer also i have removed the sd card and placed it in my pc manualy and sits there looking for drivers
thanks in advance Mick
I assume you have selected "DISK DRIVE" from the drop down list that appears when you connect a USB cable? If so, this is most likely a Windows driver problem. So you might need the HTC drivers.
If you install HTC Sync (found on the card supplied with the phone) that should install the appropriate drivers. If it's not there, go to the HTC website and download latest HTC Sync version.
Can you try a USB stick or a standard card in the card reader of you PC and see if they work?
It could be a faulty SD card, I had problems with the one sent with my phone and had to replace it. All working ok now.
hi thanks for your reply i have done all of the above but still no joy, if the sd card was faulty i would assume it wouldnt work with the phone at all, the only thing i havnt tried is install the htc syn on my laptop to see if its a windows 7 issue or issue with my setup
otherwise i will have to wait and see what htc say about my issue
Cheers
Mick
Wait so let me get this right...
SD card in phone - Works
SD card in phone, hooked to computer using USB and selecting Disk Drive - Does not work (cannot see in Windows)
SD card directly in computer - Does not work...
Sounds like your issue is with Windows, not with HTC or your SD card...
Are you on a work computer by any chance? Can you plug normal USB flash drives in OK?
Either you're missing the Mass Storage driver or it's been disabled on your computer.
I need to copy the pictures from my storage card to my PC, but I am not able to view the contents when my Samsung Galaxy S2 is connected to the PC. the pictures which are in my internal storage card can be viewed, but those in the storage card cannot be.. What settings need to be changed?!
None if you can see the phone via USB mass storage mode you should also see the external sd card as a separate drive .
Try a card reader .

Did you access the pics from phone memory through Mass-Storage-Device or via something like kies (e.g. "Samsung Phone" instead of a real Mass-Storage with a drive-letter)? Try checking the "Developer Mode" in Settings, which lets you connect manually if plugged in and not automatically with MTP.
