[Solved]usb mass storage on cyanogenmod - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I have a myTouch 1.2 with cyanogenmod 5.0.7-t5 installed. When I connect the usb cable to my computer, nothing shows up and therefore I cannot exchange files. Is it a common case? I have USB debugging enabled.

reboot and it works now

USB device Not Recognized

Whenever i plug in my i9000, it just pop up an error msg ÜSB Device not recognized. I'm trying to get Kies to recognize my i9000
I tried following this but it doesnt work at all.
it worked for me on kies, but i didn;t like it anyways
What i did was go to settings --> about phone --> usb settings
and try the other options (i'm using media player option, not sure why mass storage doesn't work)
Did you try to change the usb ports on your pc (stick the cable into different usb ports)?

changing the usb port does help, however when i unplug it and restart my com, it does not recognize it anymore
What OS are u running?
Could also have something to do with the number of irq's on your motherboard.
PC's older then aprox. 3/4 years have less irq's and can have trouble with much external devices

Have a look at this site from HardwareZone.com.
It's heavily populated but you only need to read the last five or so pages.

yeah i am looking at that thread too, however thanks for the link here, good for documentation as well, appreciated
keevy17, u have the phone already? If yes, you could help us resolve our questions in last pages of this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694835&page=9
Q: Are there any notifications (on screen, backlight of buttons, ...) about missed calls, new mails, sms? Is there any notification when u charge the battery and the battery is fully charged?
Thanks in advance.
The default USB connection is to activate Samsung Kies. You'll have to go to settings->About Phone->USB Settings to change. If it doesn't work after changing, soft reset the phone and try again.
Caused me a bit of head scratching until I went through the options.
Now am having same problem, can'r see mass storage in my computer.
I think I read you need to enable USB Debugging then it will work. for both of you I believe.
With USB debug i can only use adb, nothing works. If i disable debug i can copy files via MTP protocol but mass storage doesn't work.
Edit.
Found the problem, it doesn't mount it self like Desire/N1 i had mount it my self. All working.

hassan,
I've not yet had a chance to use the phone yet. Can you tell me how you mount the USB in order to use it with a PC?

It was bit tricky to start with as i thought my phone is broke. First go to setting > About > USB Settings > and select Ask on connection. Plug the cable in to the and from drop down notification bar and hit USB connected then you get the option to mount the mass storage.

Thanks hassan, I'll try it later.
If you want kies to work with the phone, dont kill MTP.. But kies is acting weird, soemtimes it doesnt see the phone, but after unplug and replug it works again.. I've given up on kies actually, over 100MB to download and worst than some beta software i've used.
also, i cannot get samsung apps to work on kies, it just error or timeout.. you guys hv any luck?
I haven't tried kies yet, i'll try when i get home from work.
Anybody know how to mount on a Mac? I tried changing the USB settings to Mount/Media, no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

USB mass storage not work on Mac

I can connect the i9000 to my PC using mass storage mode and see it as an USB disk, but it doesn't work on my Mac, it recognize nothing (I have chosen to mount the drive after connected to the USB as I did the same when connecting to Windows). I can see there is a Samsung USB device connected in the System Profiler but the disk won't mount, any clues?
Thanks.
I have the very same problem. Works in PC, not on my iMac.

Yep. Speaking as a Mac OS X user I can confirm this works.
The is no way to flash from a Mac though. However, I have high hopes for ROM Manager

I got it:
Settings > Application > Development

Of course it's to be done on the phone. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I've enabled USB Debugging and can't get my mac to recognize my phone to use it as a USB storage device?!?! I'm running ICS 4.0.3 XXLPB. I didn't have any problem at first with GB. Any suggestions? Thanks! =)

Both pass through and droid explorer work. But I can't seem to get access to my SD. And it's inserted correctly.. can even see the stats of it on the phone.
USB debugging should always be enabled right?

Every since the phone was purchased, it was never recognised by any computer. I tried those methods that they said would cause it to be recognised and it still would not work with it.

You can conected the a20 on mode adb??
You can replace the charging port
it is not too expensive

Not even on adb mode would it connect. The charging port would cause that? When you plug it into the computer, it usually gives that unrecognised device error.

Try this:
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
If that dosen't help try enabling DEVELOPER options and on "Default USB Configuration" choose "FIle Transfer"
