No________
Why would you want to downgrade to WinMo?
just to do it
As far as I know there is no way to dual boot the two.

I believe there's an Ubuntu port that can be dual booted on WinMo.

Erm, so you're going to emulate Windows mobile to emulate ubuntu. Doesn't sound like it will... work decently.
There isn't a way to get Windows Mobile on android; if you wanted windows mobile, you shouldn't of bought a android phone.

there isn't a way? You tried?
I'm pretty sure if someone is committed, they'll find a way

I was replying to someone else. Not sure why you quoted me on that one. I have no intention of ever running WinMo again, it even says so in my sig.
However if someone else wants to emulate WinMo on the hero I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to try. A lot of times people do things 'just to see if they'll work'....so lose the attitude.
yeah there isn't really a reason i want to just to see if there is a way and to see how it runs and such
how about throwing windows 98 up on that ***** and breaking out a nice bluetooth mouse and keyboard
after wp7 comes it will.

From what I know, w7 will stripe data across internal storage and sdcard, so you would need another sdcard for android

Will there be any Windows Phone 7 Series for the Nexus one?
Would be nice to test the new OS on a phone. Hope some of XDA's talented developers would look in to this when the time is right
one word: no.

I hope someone pulls through and does it, althought we are short one hardware key to match up the win7 requirements.
I don't really see it being an issue getting on here, alot of the hardware will be on other phones so drivers should be around.

Yes Winmo sucks, but I hope the new 7 series will do something with this, and if it becomes a good mobile OS i don't want to buy a new phone.. I love my N1 and i think it could be fun to play with.
As far as becoming a good mobile OS, it's not off to a good start. No multitasking, no copy/paste, and today I saw someone say that Microsoft has disallowed development of applications that rival native applications. Seriously, are they retarded? Those are some of the worst things people complained about with the iphone.
Title says it allis it actuallu possible to install Windows Mobile onto a HTC Magic device
oh and before you start flaming me saying "this questions has aready been asled" yes it has but it was last asked June 2009 and i want to know nearly a year later if anything has changed
Thanks

No. There are no Windows Mobile drivers for this phone. HTC hasn't and never will make em.

To each his own, but you just made me throw up a little. I won't bother asking, but I really want to know why you'd want an outdated piece of crap like winmo on your beautiful android device. Oh well. As I said, to each his own.

When I had a winmo device I was using the Haret method to run Android on It because I hated winmo and I always will...
Maybe you should sell your htc Magic and get the htc HD1.

Because It's better than the total rubbish that is android, thats why. I also want Winmo on my mt3g. I can't stand Android, but I can't afford a new phone.
In that case, I'd try your local Craigslist to see if anyone is willing to trade you.

are you serious? windows mobile is garbage..
windows as a PC operating system is the best. windows 7 is amazing.
but windows MOBILE? GARBAGE...they even tried to make windows mobile 7 more like android os,iphone os,maemo os, etc.. and they failed miserably.

I have no idea if this is possible, but even as a die-hard WM user I'd question why you'd want to do this!
I'm not sure lol. I'd thought WM would be better than Android?

No. Wm will never be better then Android.
I also need this, so if anyone "because we can" i will donate some money
but is there any way to run some WM apps on android via something like wine for Linux ?

I would love to see this!
First let me say thank you to the xda community. I have enjoyed several android rom on my HD2 and will continue to support and test roms hoping to make a permanent transition one day.
Now on to the meat of the thread. Since there are still several flaws in most builds still why not create a app that shuts down or suspends the session of android os without having a power cycle or hard reboot. This would allow the use to take full advantage of both OS surly making it the ultimate device.
Great. Now YOU go make one then.

Think its a pretty valid question. This would be good but don't think it is possible as Android can't access NAND yet and I'm guessing thats where the windows Kernal is so don't think it's possible. I may be totally wrong tho.

I thought the android os is already running on top of the windows mobile OS making the phone a virtual machine.
No. It shuts down wimno when haret is loaded.
In theory, it's a great idea...but it's not really possible

Nah, when you run Android, Windows Mobile shuts down completely...Windows Mobile is just used to initialise some of the hardware first
linux virtual machine?
Thanks for helping me clear that up.
i was hoping for a meld of the two os like a virtual machine.
Has someone investigated that?
Thanks
Yes, but you'll have to pay for a license
I guess nobody cares anymore now that HP killed it...
Yes,I think less people to try the system..

No shure but the Hero has lot of hardware limitations...so i think's this is a NO)) to bad, because it's a great phone... Sense 2.1 isn't to optimized for it to run properly...
PS: i'll keep you guys posted on how WebOS is when i get my tablet delivered
Stefan
I would rather like to see win6.5 or win7.. though m using android but I still miss and llike windows mob... but atlast nobody cares to port windows so forget abt WebOs..

Well Why not buy a windows phone?...The htc HD2 can run windows and android to, u can use even MIUI on it
As for webOS, it's very fun to use and stable...don't know why hp stopped producing tablets and the Pre3 because the os is smooth and stable
For the moment i just installed preware on it, and will run a 720p video to see how it works
