Manila File too Big for Total Commander - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I'm trying to edit the 26948339_manila file on my TP2, but it's 164k in size and Total Commander (2.52b1) has a limit of 64k - anyone have a suggestion on what program I can use?
Thanks;
V

I always do any manila file tinkering on my desktop PC instead of the phone...just copy the full set of manila files to a folder on your PC, edit them from there, and copy back to the phone. Much easier to manipulate, and to create a backup for safety's sake.

Editing File Attributes

Sorry if this has been covered, looked but couldn't find anything detailed enough.
I'd like to change two of the files in the "windows" directory, specifically the phone app background files. (Using OzVGA they're currently not large enough).
I've made two new .bmps but cant copy over the original files (Bckgnd_Land.bmp & Bckgnd_Port.bmp) because they have the "Read-Only" and "System" attributes set. I can't change these attributes in File Explorer on the Universal, nor from within WinXPHome's Explorer while the device is connected. (I can see the attributes, but they're shaded and inaccessible).
Do I need another file explorer or something?? I think i saw a post where somene else had done something similar, but now can't find that post!!!
yes, use Resco Explorer or Total Commander
Please note that those files are in ROM, so you are not really overwriting them. You merely bend the pointer. As soon as you delete your own creation the old file handle is restored.

So what you're saying is that I can't alter these files??
Installed Total Commander and although it appears to have the ability to change the attributes... it can't. I assume that's because they're in Rom?

Hehe...old thread, but would be great if somebody could explain what tools are needed to get .pkg-files working.
This will help me to save much memory on rom-cooking.
Thanks in advance!

Doesn't work! One of the first things I've tried.
Just tried a few things and found a solution: just extracted png's from FM_Skins.pkg, compressed them and copied the compressed files to windows folder on Diamond...and see there, it's working like a charme. Again a bit of memory saved on rom (0,5mb on FM_Skins.pkg without any noticeable graphical changes).
One important thing is not to use compression when you save the files to make a new package. Use zip compression = 0.
Multiple files in windows folder make reading of directory slower.

Help wid the Manila files!!!!!

I have been searching around the forum for quite some time and still couldn't find a solution to how to edit the manila files????
I just downloaded the manila editor which is an .exe file so can be run only on my PC. When i select the path option in it there is no access to the Windows folder of my Blackstone.
So, using total commander i copied all the manila files into one folder on my storage card which was accesible in the "Select Path" option of manila editor.
But when I opened it, it just opened two files!!!
Can any1 help me in telling how can I edit a manila file and what all I hav 2 actually do to complete a tweak?
Thanx in advance!!!!

Error Copying File

Hi, a little help here needed.
When i tried to do no. 38, when overwriting the file, an error was prompt up stating that "Error Copying File: Access is denied. Be certain that there is enought free storage memory, that the destination is not write protected and that the file is not currently in use."
I have already turn of HTC sense in Today Settings already.

38. Disable Extra Animation on Clock
Everytime you refresh the home screen, the flip clock starts 1 hour and 2 minutes back to show off the flip animation. You can disable this extra animation so it only flips when it needs to flips. Download the modified manila file at the end of this post. Disable HTC Sense in Today settings. Backup original Windows file (you are going to overwrite) to your SD card. Extract downloaded file to Windows directory on your device (overwriting the original). Enable HTC Sense again in today settings.
Are you using File explorer ? If so, it cannot be done. Use Resco Explorer or Total Commander to overwrite such files
wooo thanks alooooot. =D
