Hi guys,
How do you change the text size when reading an SMS in "Traditional Mode".
The text is very small and I'd like to have it at a medium size.
Attached the screenshots.
Thanks a lot for your help.
I dont think there is a definitive answer for this. If you search this forum you will see that a few people have posted with the very same issue (myself included). There was only one guy who bothered to post a possible solution but i couldnt follow what he was saying.
When you change font size under settings it doesnt change font size for Sense Messaging but it does change it for email.
I wrote to HTC about it and they basically gave me the run around.

So there's nothing out yet for fixing this?
As far as i am aware no.
Write to HTC customer support to see if they are any more helpful.
If i recall correctly i wrote in and they replied back saying there was no fix. I then said that they didnt care about any of their customers who had poor eyesight and they replied back with a stock "we do care and are looking into it" response.
maybe you will have more luck then i did.
while having any message open, press Menu then text size, you should have 5 sizes to chose from.

this way only change text size in conversation mode, not in traditional mode.
and then when you start a new conversation text size become smaller...
it's really a bad bug!

You are right. then it must be set in the registry or in the htc messages config files.
i will look at the files later on.

This helps when reading sms messages but its no good for typing them out =(
As i said above... HTC seem to be ignoring this. Its quite a bad bug imo.

Something i REALLY hate with Windows Mobile, is the complete waste of the display. Everything is written with tiny ugly font, instead of a big clear font (i know you can change font size, but that only applies to some few things).
On incoming calls, theres LOTS of space to display caller id/name, but no, it only displays it with a tiny font leaving 90% of the dialog with white pixels, so it's impossible to see it if you have your phone mounted in your car.
Does anyone know if it's possible to change fonts size of the incoming call dialog, or some third party application that replace the entire screen?
I tried a search, but i don't really know what I should search for?

If you want something for PICTURES of contacts of incoming calls, you could try ProPhotoContacts, I use that a little and it just displays a large pic of the caller and some info ( you can choose between business style, personal, or just name and number to be displayed.)
If you just want larger text, idk what you could use for that, but there are many good 3rd party contacts apps that do what you are looking for.

I don't want pictures - i just want the number/name to be readable from 1 meter distance - so i guess i need some 3rd party application to replace the default dumb dialog.
But i haven't found any, and i'm really not sure what keywords i should use? Have anyone found an appliaction like that?

That's a darn good ?. Even the pictures assigned to my contacts are too small to see who it is calling. Luckily I have different ring tones to each of my contacts, I know who's calling by the ring tone.
I remember there was an app for Symbian that allowed for full screen caller ID pictures. Don't remember which one it was... my last Symbian phone was the Pana X700 and I stopped using that back in summer of '05 when I discovered the Blue Angel.
But there's got to be something for WM as well. Have you checked all the freeware sites?
there's been a thread within the wizard forums about this app that changes the caller id bubble and is very customizable. Im gonna go look for it, and if I find it Ill report back

check that out, scroll about 1 or 2 pages down it shows a screenshot of a diff bubble. that is your software sir!
Anybody Know?
I was wondering if anyone knew how to magnify just the picture of who is calling. That link above is great but it has all these additional features that i'm not interested in...i think my phone might explode if i put more softwares like that on it. I just want to be able to make the picture of incoming calls large. I have photo contacts pro and I don't like it. When an unknown caller is calling then it's completely useless...more importantly it doesn't recongnize callers from your sim card...that is why i stopped using it....if anyone knows that would really make my day
You could always make a jpeg with big bold letters of the contacts name and save it to their photo contact...
I want to change the font size of short message. Which item shall i modify in register? Thanks
Settings -> System Tab -> Screen -> Text Size tab
Move the slider towards largest.
Going Blind With Small Font On Caller Id 8525
I KNOW there are NUMEROUS 8525 users out there who find it difficult (really difficult in the case of my wife and I) to read the incoming caller ID name and number. The existing font option does not affect the phone. Has anyone been able to come up with a way to make these fonts (and those in some other areas of the phone) easier to see? I would PAY for a fix to this. (t's so bad that my wife is already checking out the Blackberry 8310.)
Thanks.
Having the same problem...
I was really hoping someone would have a solution to this problem, by now...

Have you tried. NueFont??
I find it very helpful

Can someone let me know how you put these in an sms message please?
Thanks in advance
I would also like to know if that is possible, so if any one knows any thing about that please help.
On the text page press menu at the bottom right, insert/picture video/mydocuments/uacontents/emoticon all done.
Hope that helps.
Thank you....
I think what we meant is how to insert an emoticon in line with the text message. The tip above merely creates a Picture message, with the emoticon as the main picture, which is daft.

I will give that a go...

There is no way to have them by default in WM, but take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328363
Or you could just alter the texts in your templates to smileys. They will show up as icons on phones that support smileys.
On friday my trusty MPV M3100 decided to give up the ghost, so as I was in London I decided to look for a new phone and picked up an Touch Diamond 2.
And I have to say; I love it.
Best phone I've had and even the lack of a hardware keyboard hasn't bothered me.
There is only one thing which has caused me some bother; on all my previous phones when an sms/mms has been recieved the screen will turn on for a while to alert me of this, however I can't find a way to do the same thing with the TD2.
The reason I would like this is down to me mostly leaving my phone on silent but in line of sight. The silent factor is because I'm often doing things with headphones on (such as at work) and I'm not going to hear the tone anyways.
So, while the green light is nice and all being able to have the screen turn on as an option would be nice..
As a coder by trade I've been poking around to see what I could do to let me do this myself, however if someone has a better solution or knows of an app which can already do it then I'd appricate it if they could tell me
There is a setting in:
All Settings->Personal->Sounds & Notifications->Notifications
Then select Messaging: New Text Message from the drop down list, and there is an option there "Flash Light For: x Minutes"
This might be what you're looking for?
thanks for the reply, however I'd already found that option and it only effects the green light which flashes when you get a messag; nice and stuble in keeping with the device but not what I'm after
Look for this registry value
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
It should be 1, set it to 0
ah, excellent, thanks
just curious what program you guys are using to edit registry values...
sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm new to Windows Mobile.. up until the D2 i've always have symbian phones.
I just did a google for "win mobile reg editor" and installed PHM Regedit to do the job.
Although I'm going to write a quick app to let me toggle this particular setting I think (i'll probably post the resulting cab/exe here encased others want it)
I'm using Total Commander (I just started editing the registry). What do you guys use for making a CAB file?

Thank Oruam, great tweak.
I currently have the option selected to display a new sms message on screen as soon as it arrives, is it possible when i hit reply to get the device to go to the touch flow threaded messaging system rather than the WM6.1 default?
Thanks guys!
Is there any way to have it vibrate & play a sound, but not enable the touch screen? The reason I ask is that I dont want the screen to come on while it's in my pocket etc, and things start to get accidentally pressed!
Awesome! Thanks!

I'm sorry ormz.
I'm interesting for that option to have flash light blinking when sms/mail arrives, unfortunately I haven't got the option you mentioned into my settings referred to "new SMS".
I've got the original rom installed (italian version).
May I arrange same setting/option into register also if I haven't it on display?
Could someone help me?
lock the device:
"real lock" - press the hang button (the one on the right) until it shows unlock at the bottom left side
stand-by - press the power button only for 1 second and the screen will go off. When receiving a message, the screen stays black. To see menu-s again, press again power button for 1 second
someone could tell me how to make it works with email event?
You guys might check S2U2 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527523

What are you looking for? Are you tryting to navigate to the registry through file explorer? If so, you need a reg editor to do that...
You know this is an old thread, right?
yeah i know its a old thread... i had a registor editor.. actually acouple. i found what i was looking for.. just didnt start with hkml.. thanks though for replying..
Any way I can enlarge the text size? Ideally throughout all apps but especially in 'messaging' and the browser.
It's for a friend who has limited eyesight.
Many thanks.
SPARE PARTS
wow that was hard
Thanks man, just got it from marketplace but it doesn't work! It changes it for a moment but as soon as you click 'back' or 'home' it reverts to the usual text size...
Does anyone know of a way to make it 'stick'? Or an alternative application?
Thanks!
Iwould like to have this as well. Who developed "Spare Parts"?
You can find the author in 'market' ... it's too bad - I contacted him already, he just enabled an option that he found in the source by the sound of it, and doesn't know how it works. Can anyone help?
