HI!

Thanks!
You would need to revert to a prior version of Arcsoft that had this capability.
Sending text as an MMS rather than SMS
In WinMo 6.5 with Sense 2.5 the SMS and MMS messaging has been merged into a single application. If you want to send text as an mms rather than sms you could try this:
1. Select the contact
2. Click "Send message"
3. Type your text in the input area
4. Click the paperclip to expand the list of attachments and click the image icon on the left hand side
5. This will display your photo album, select one of them (you're going to remove it later on so choose any one).
6. This will take you back the message input area and you'll notice a small version of your selected image with some size information next to it.
7. Press the paper & pen icon on the right of the picture (note you may need to press this twice!!) and this will take you to a mms panel.
8. Add a single blank character to the subject (this will force the message to be sent as an mms rather than an sms).
9. Click DONE and then SEND. The message should be sent as an mms.
So a simple *.LNK file does not work on WM6.5?
So a simple *.LNK file does not work on WM6.5?
My MMS2.LNK;
Code:
44#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "MMS" -to ""
Select the code and copy/paste it in a text file. Then rename the file from MMS2.txt to MMS2.LNK (capitals are for clarity).
If it does work, please let me know. TIA,

G'Day,
I have three issues with the i-mate and that is the ability to:
1. dial a selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages;
2. save the selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages into contacts;
I transferred my Telstra message service from MessageBank to Memo so that I did not need to write the name and number before calling. Memo sends the message via text (SMS) message which enabled to return telephone calls directly from text (SMS) message. On the i-mate, I can not select the telephone number to return calls from text (SMS) messages.
3. cut and paste from web pages or text messages.
For example cut name, telephone, address, email address and company name from emails or text (SMS) messages and paste into contacts.
I know that the Treo 600 has this ability and I'm hoping that the i-mate can perform these functions also. If not, I might have to swap to the Treo 600!
It would be greatly appreciated for any assistance to solve these issues.
Thank you.
Marcus
I can cut and paste from other areas but not from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages.
If I receive a text (SMS) message, email or web page with a telephone number in the message, I must write it down, open the phone and type in the telephone number. After the call I can then transfer to contacts.
How do you cut from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages and paste to phone or contacts or calender?
ctrl-c, ctrl-v
I don't know but I always open the keyboard and as in desktop windows i use ctrl-c and ctrl-v or ctrl-x to copy und paste!!! of course you have to be able to highlight the test.....
Thank you rdkay. Your advice works and has already been useful.
I am currently deciding between the i-mate (XDAII) and the Treo 600.
This now makes it much more difficult to choose!
if you hold in the pen dont you get a menu ?
If I open the text (SMS) message and hold the pen on the telephone number in the message a pop-up menu displays "new - delete - move - reply - forward - mark as unread".
No "copy" as it does if selecting "From" and certainly no "call".
I have spoken to i-mate support and they are aware of this missing functionality.
The intergration between the phone and the sms does not seem to be as well developed as with normal telephones.

Click to collapse
... you have to tap reply or forward to be able to edit the text and then you will be able to use at least the copy/paste "technique".
PavelR.
Thanks PavelR.
Finding it very difficult to choose between i-mate and Treo 600.
To copy from a web page:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Tools->Copy.
To copy from a text message:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Edit->Copy.
When I try to send a contact as a v-card (rigt click on contact) an mms message is created.
Is this a bug? Can I change it to pOutlook?
[GErman MDA Pro]

This is driving me nuts, is there a registry edit to allow us to send vcards via email?
Found a work around here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6688232#post6688232
1. go to contacts
2. tap and hold the desired contact to pop up the menu
3. select "send vcard"
4. this will initiate a MMS with vcard enclosed
5. now, interrupt the MMS and use the file explorer. in the "temp" folder under "my device" you'll find the vcard named 'vcard.vcf'.
6. finally tap and hold and use 'send to recipient' ...
Click to collapse
Thanks but we need to workout a full solution...
I believe this will help...
Install and use, it opens its own interface and sends it via SMS.
Cheers

No it doesn't work with WM5.....
Sure it did with mine....
how to send mms more extension file ect.. *.doc *.rft *.zip min size 50kb ?

I have the default ROM for my O2 XDA Mini S, and I have to say the MMS application is very poor.
I have a shortcut set up in my "wm5 new menu" to new MMS - but when I reach the new MMS screen there appears to be no way to add a contact from my contacts with the ease of normal SMS (btw this is the case regardless of how I get to the MMS composition screen). For normal SMS I would enter the first 2 characters of the name or the 2 initials and select from the list that appears. For MMS, double clicking the "To" field doesn't even help.
I have also just noticed that the application will not resize pictures for sending. Hmm. :-(
Is there a newer version of the MMS Composer (>3.0.7.14)?
No such problem here, just clicking on the "To:" (not to the right of it - actually on the "To:"). Not sure what version it is
So i changed from the 8125 to the wing and I have discovered it is much more difficult to send a new text message. You have to go through like 5 different commands...(open the message bar, select text message account, tap menu, scroll to new, scroll to sms) it just seems so tedious so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to make it so i can have new message be one of my soft key choices (preferably where the delete soft key is). Its really annoying.
Thanks BP
How about when you install the HTC Home plugin, I HAD one until i bricked my phone yesterday :'( it came with the PDAVIET rom which was released some time ago.
What it does is, it shows on the Today screen a link to Email and one to SMS.
That's probably the fastest way.
Cheers
how 'bout putting the command "new sms" under a softkey ?
Or simply install the program "name" (sorry forgot the name) that puts a "New" menu at your left soft-key in the today screen, from there you can choose sms, e-mail, mms etc.. Just search for New menu
Press Contacts softkey. Scroll to the intended recipient. Tap, hold, pick "Send Text Message". Type text message. Press Send softkey.
What's the problem?
How About VIJay?
Hello,
I use VijaySMS All the time... It allows you to make a shortcut (I use SPB Today so I create the shortcuts in there) that either starts a blank SMS or start one to a specific contact. You can find the program at Vijay's webpage here: http://www.vijay555.com/
Enjoy!
You could set up the Message button to automatically go to your SMS Inbox when you press it.
Messaging Inbox > Menu > Tools > Options...
Select Text/SMS and uncheck "Display account picker when opening Messaging." This will automatically open your SMS Inbox, thus eliminating the first two steps of your problem.
Ok guys, I've searched and dont see this question or suggestion so please dont flame me.
Why is it possible to add a smiley from a new MMS message but not with SMS?
I use Smiley SMS but the smiley icons are very small.
Surely it's a registry hack to allow default compose to be MMS form.
Am I being stupid?
I think you're mixing things up.
MMS are MultiMedia Messages, which can contain large text and attachments (images, video, sound, etc).
SMS are text-only, so you can't put images in those. What SmileySMS does is probably the same thing as SMSChat: interprets the sms's you receive and replaces ": )" (for instance) with a smiley image stored in your device.
When you add a smiley to your message and send it, the other guy won't see a smiley, but ": )", unless he views it with your program too.
So, no, you can't registry-hack it to display images
?
Multimedia Messaging
Short Message Service
Actualy i dont get what your asking but the only simileys you can send via ems but i dont know if windows moblie.
other than that you can send the usual ;-) :-( :-D .
As said already, SMS & MMS are two different types of messages. Only the "smiley" you type goes through as text to the recipient, while SmileySMS recognizes it as an image for you to see.
I understand the differences.
What I was questioning is whether it be possible that the sms compose form be similar to MMS. So if you selected a smiley, it would send "" etc etc
Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones allow you to send SMS messages with animated smileys. It's a shortfall of WM that it doesnt give a better messaging experience.
Thanks for your input guys !!

Yeah, but you'll never really send the smiley, so your will be sent out as : D.
But instead of typing the text equivalent, I'd like to see the smiley and select it, therefore the abbreviation is automatically insterted into message - just as the MMS form does
Surely the Masterchefs can do a hack which can use the MMS form but sends as SMS
I don't know what type of device you have, but if it has a keyboard, then you might try Smilies Input Panel .
Keyboard for text and numbers, and SIP for smilies...
You can even edit it, make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see how..

i understand what u mean, but the MMS portion sends the graphic (i think) it doesnt inerpret ; - ) and change it to
smilieysms is a plugin for sms, which intercepts the text and uses its own display model to replace ; - ) with
so im guessing, no to use MMS editor, as in both instances it will place the graphic in the text body, and also on received messages, display the received graphic, not ; - ) replaced with
phew!

Nope, the MMS just inserts ascii characters into the text portion of the MMS, try it and see for yourself.
no flaming but please ask questions in the QUESTIONS Thread.
