Got a strange error. I was trying to send out picture from the camera app today. The pic was taken at 2M, so it was too large to send via MMS and Gmail. I changed the registry entry to increase the max limit of files that could be sent via MMS or email. Once I did that though, the Camera App nor the Picture viewing app launches the email tool correctly.
Previous to the registry change, if you told either the picture or camera app to "send", it would ask which account you want to send from, then launch a new message.
After my registry change, I hit "send", it asks me which account, then it comes back and asks what account again, and then just opens the inbox of the account I selected.
I changed the reg values back to the 300K limit, but it didn't change the way the camera or picture app selects the mail account.
I can work around it by starting a new message then inserting the pic, but it is annoying that it's not working like it is supposed to.
Anyone have any ideas?
BTW, this is the registry edit I made:
Send Large MMS:
Registry: HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\Size Limit
Key: wap2sendlimit1 (you can also change wap1sendlimit1)
Default: 307200
New Value: 1228800 (1200K)
Set the new value by going to Text/Multimedia --> Menu --> New --> MMS --> Menu --> Options --> MMS Options --> Servers --> T-mobile MMS
I changed both WAP2sendlimit1 and WAP1sendlimit1
When I want to send pictures on MMS I do it the following way:
"pictures and video" - marks the picture I want to send - pushed "meny" down to the right - selects "send..." - then chooses MMS.
Then the picture automatically resizes down to a suitable size, 20-50kb
If I jump directly to "send as MMS" the picture is sendt full size. Dont ask why.
I have found several threads where people have my problem, but no solutions.
Whenever I receive an MMS message it displays the phone number in the From field instead of the contact name. If I open the message and choose Menu->Show->Message Detail the name shows there. If I reply to an MMS message as an SMS the To: field only shows the phone number, But if I reply to erither an MMS or an SMS as MMS it shows the name!
SMS messages and phone calls both display the names fine. I'm using ArcSoft MMS Composer 5.0.31.7 on WM 6.1.
Thanks in advance for the help (probably something simple I am missing!)
Does anyone have a ROM that they are getting names on MMS messages? Maybe I'll just switch from Storm.
The same problem is on 5.0.31.11. I expect it's a issue from the Arcsoft MMS composer.
Here you can find version .25
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=320846
Perhaps it works with this version. Have not tried it yet.
That version is Verizon only and I'm on AT&T. I'm searching the forums but having a hard time locating a cab for a later version that will work with AT&T.
Ok guys, I've searched and dont see this question or suggestion so please dont flame me.
Why is it possible to add a smiley from a new MMS message but not with SMS?
I use Smiley SMS but the smiley icons are very small.
Surely it's a registry hack to allow default compose to be MMS form.
Am I being stupid?
I think you're mixing things up.
MMS are MultiMedia Messages, which can contain large text and attachments (images, video, sound, etc).
SMS are text-only, so you can't put images in those. What SmileySMS does is probably the same thing as SMSChat: interprets the sms's you receive and replaces ": )" (for instance) with a smiley image stored in your device.
When you add a smiley to your message and send it, the other guy won't see a smiley, but ": )", unless he views it with your program too.
So, no, you can't registry-hack it to display images
?
Multimedia Messaging
Short Message Service
Actualy i dont get what your asking but the only simileys you can send via ems but i dont know if windows moblie.
other than that you can send the usual ;-) :-( :-D .
As said already, SMS & MMS are two different types of messages. Only the "smiley" you type goes through as text to the recipient, while SmileySMS recognizes it as an image for you to see.
I understand the differences.
What I was questioning is whether it be possible that the sms compose form be similar to MMS. So if you selected a smiley, it would send "" etc etc
Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones allow you to send SMS messages with animated smileys. It's a shortfall of WM that it doesnt give a better messaging experience.
Thanks for your input guys !!

Yeah, but you'll never really send the smiley, so your will be sent out as : D.
But instead of typing the text equivalent, I'd like to see the smiley and select it, therefore the abbreviation is automatically insterted into message - just as the MMS form does
Surely the Masterchefs can do a hack which can use the MMS form but sends as SMS
I don't know what type of device you have, but if it has a keyboard, then you might try Smilies Input Panel .
Keyboard for text and numbers, and SIP for smilies...
You can even edit it, make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see how..

i understand what u mean, but the MMS portion sends the graphic (i think) it doesnt inerpret ; - ) and change it to
smilieysms is a plugin for sms, which intercepts the text and uses its own display model to replace ; - ) with
so im guessing, no to use MMS editor, as in both instances it will place the graphic in the text body, and also on received messages, display the received graphic, not ; - ) replaced with
phew!

Nope, the MMS just inserts ascii characters into the text portion of the MMS, try it and see for yourself.
no flaming but please ask questions in the QUESTIONS Thread.
Hi,
Trying to get rid of all the samsung crap from my B7610.
So back to Titanium, Std wm6.5 threaded messageing etc. etc.
Changed message composer back to WM default from mms.dll which ofcourse means MMS won't send any more.
So installed Arcsoft MMS composer 5.2.0.47, set up server for O2, tested SMS, solved issue where MMS were downloading tiny images when reciving an MMS etc.. etc...
My last problem is when viewing the SMS/MMS account in messaging and I tap Menu > New the only two options are "Voicemail"&"MMS" I can send an MMS from the main titanium screen, replying to a message or changing mms to sms... However, I would like SMS to appear as an option in the New message list.
Hope someone can help
Cheers
John
solved after adding missing string:-
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext]
"Name"="SMS"
HI!
Please help me i dont know how to do it i cant find the button. I want to send text by mms and not sms. How can i change to mms messages instead of sms and without sending a file just text??? I have an official wm 6.5 rom...it was easy in wm 6.1....but cant do it now
Thanks!
You would need to revert to a prior version of Arcsoft that had this capability.
Sending text as an MMS rather than SMS
In WinMo 6.5 with Sense 2.5 the SMS and MMS messaging has been merged into a single application. If you want to send text as an mms rather than sms you could try this:
1. Select the contact
2. Click "Send message"
3. Type your text in the input area
4. Click the paperclip to expand the list of attachments and click the image icon on the left hand side
5. This will display your photo album, select one of them (you're going to remove it later on so choose any one).
6. This will take you back the message input area and you'll notice a small version of your selected image with some size information next to it.
7. Press the paper & pen icon on the right of the picture (note you may need to press this twice!!) and this will take you to a mms panel.
8. Add a single blank character to the subject (this will force the message to be sent as an mms rather than an sms).
9. Click DONE and then SEND. The message should be sent as an mms.
So a simple *.LNK file does not work on WM6.5?
So a simple *.LNK file does not work on WM6.5?
My MMS2.LNK;
Code:
44#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "MMS" -to ""
Select the code and copy/paste it in a text file. Then rename the file from MMS2.txt to MMS2.LNK (capitals are for clarity).
If it does work, please let me know. TIA,
