It's time to Mighty Rom the Incredible, to the Cricket or Boost networks! On a fixxed income I can't afford Verizon or Att, even Sprint would put me into a jam.
Thanks JD
Edit: I'm dumb

amen to that waiting for metro
With ##pst# can't u write info there I did on the touch when it came out and use qpst to input the prl

Root has nothing to do with flash to cricket use ##778 MSL code is 000000 next step is to have a cricket prl on your sd card then follow the xv6800 route to flashing pretty much the same easy as that. now for custom roms ull have to wait for root.
Mine is on Cricket
I got mine flashed for Cricket, however; only the web browser seems to be able to use the Cricket 3G network. All of the other Android apps give a network error. Of course, everything works over WiFi just fine. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this, it would be much appreciated.
Look into your manual apn settings?
doesn't cricket use a proxy? We had this problem getting cricket to work on the vogue running android...
You need to set the proxy on the network layer, on boot, and for that you need to be rooted
2nd that gotta wait on the root
HOWEVER

What you just posted was about the desire...Pauls method doesn't work nor is he helping root..
flash
Can someone please put up a step by step how to flash to cricket?
There is a cricket rom in development. Have you looked through that yet?
Just curious because I don't use Cricket, but why would you need to flash? If MSL is 000000, can't you just set up CDMA/NAM parameters as necessary for Cricket or is there more to it than that?
There is a cricket dev going on, but there hasn't been an update in forever.

No, you will have to load the proper PRL file into the phone which allows the handset to communicate with Cricket towers and not Verizon.

I didnt know when it was posted. Though why does every1 say you have to root phones to flash to carriers when you can get everything working on stock rom. what 3 years ago they didnt know the command ##prl# or was that in updated stock rom? or ##778# or ##program# these phones dont need qpst dfs or cdma workshop to flsh to cricket page plus only carriers that need nv files.

I suspect it's just because the update.zip file does not contain any mention of the correct model for Bell. The Bell model is a GT-i9000M. Anyone can update the zip file so I can try again?? Thanks.
Did you try the update method for the i9000? That one might work

Yes, I did. When it runs it shows i5800, i9000, sgh-i897 but not i9000m. I think it's a simple thing to just add the model number to the script, because I'm pretty sure it gets installed to the same places, but I'm no expert.
Edit: I found the updater script in the zip file and looked at it with notepad, but I'm scared to just add similar notations for the i9000M without some confirmation from someone who knows more.
It really is that simple as finding the few lines in the script and copying the two you need and adding the model name displayed in your settings > about phone.
I'd throw an update.zip for ya but I have to run soon. The worst that'll likely happen is the script won't run if you get the model name wrong.
nice so I'd give it a go

Ok, thanks, I know enough to try it. We'll see.
Sweet! It was that simple. I just added an M to the i9000 already in the file. Thanks guys for the feedback.

What are your radio frequencies? im interested in knowing if the Bell Vibrant has any compatible freqs... Our vibrant works 3g for Tmo and AT&T, a first for gsm phones i think?

tmo us: 1700/1900/2100 per wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile

Frequencies for Bell are 850/1900. So it works on Rogers, Telus, ATT.
I still find it really strange that tmobile chose to add in utms 1900 to the phone...do they even have any unused spectrum in that band...its just really bazar

I couldn't figure out the button sequence either. I ended up using the tools from the AndroidSDK and the 'adb reboot recover' command.

Yup, you can flash it all you want but if the ESN# doesn't come up in Verizon's system they won't let it near their network.
oh okay. thanks, i currently own a fascinate and love it, however I could really use a FFC. I guess now I lost all hope :-(
Can't you manually alter the esn and imei #'s (using qpst or cdma workshop) with values that are on verizon's list?

Yes. Information is hard to come by because it's illegal in the US, but it's quite doable.

Yeah, googling that doesn't give a complete step by step on how to do it or anything.
I know im gonna get flamed for this but it seems to be the quickest way for a response lol. My epic is currently flashed to cricket. I want to root and put a custom rom on it. If i do that will it mess up my flash job or will i have to have it reflashed??

No it won't mess up the cricket flash but somethings are altered like the data settings and mms files. Data is an easy fix but mms is a lil more challenging, I have a thread here for mms. Are you on the android plan because some settings are not needed where as if you are on the $45 they are crucial?
Also consider changing the thread title to your question for other users to something like "Will I lose cricket flash when using Roms?" Makes it easier so people don't have to enter a thread called cricket to see what its about
Im on the $45 plan..

Dang lol I know there are proxy settings that your phone relies on for data but I'm on the android plan so I never had to deal with them. Check out cricketusers.com I know they have directions on flashing to the $45 just make a backup, flash rom and try their steps for data only.
Alrighty will do. Im gonna root this sometime today and give it a shot..thank ya much

I am not yet a developer, so I want some input on whether this can be done. I have really crappy 3g speeds here, so I updated to a verizon PRL. Speeds are much better. But being an AOSP fan, I can't change the PRL to try out new ones without nandroiding, flashing, testing, and restoring.
So... I am wondering if it is possible to make a flashable zip file that contains the PRL and a file to direct it to where it goes. Or maybe doing it via ADB. Is this possible?
Any input?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It has to be done thru epst and recovery doesn't normally touch the places that the prls and radios and such are stored which is why the prl doesn't change when you flash a rom, so I don't think building a flashable file for prl changes would be easily done

Ok it is pretty easy if you are running a sense based ROM. Why do you want to update it?
Try the 11115.prl use the roam control app to force your phone to roam onto verizon when you need the speed and back into your sprint network when you don't

To add to this.....
All sprint roaming is on verizon. The difference with 11115 is you can roam onto verizons 3g network with roam control, not just the usual 1x

You seem like the person to ask with as much knowledge as you know about phones and all the work you've created; good grief. I am stuck with Sprint and cant leave until next year without paying ETF; long story short; get terrible service and have airave (only works half the time and have 3 replacements-sprint does not want to address to issue; and me being on a SERO account probably doesn't help either) but someone in a different thread mentioned about a sprint diagnostic tool that you can use to force your phone to Roam verizon towers and get the boot rather quickly from sprint; unfortunately he said it was only for samsung devices; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774503

I didn't know if there was such a tool that could work for the evo shift that you knew of since you work with other devs and know A LOT about A LOT of stuff. I searched google a bit then headed over here of the forums, but couldnt find much in regards to it for my phone. thanks in advance

No you don't need to change your prl. Also, Several Shift ROMs like newSENSE Supreme Sense and StockMod have roam only as an option built in so you don't have to buy roam control if you don't want too.
