Yup, you can flash it all you want but if the ESN# doesn't come up in Verizon's system they won't let it near their network.
oh okay. thanks, i currently own a fascinate and love it, however I could really use a FFC. I guess now I lost all hope :-(
Can't you manually alter the esn and imei #'s (using qpst or cdma workshop) with values that are on verizon's list?

Yes. Information is hard to come by because it's illegal in the US, but it's quite doable.

Yeah, googling that doesn't give a complete step by step on how to do it or anything.

I suspect it's just because the update.zip file does not contain any mention of the correct model for Bell. The Bell model is a GT-i9000M. Anyone can update the zip file so I can try again?? Thanks.
Did you try the update method for the i9000? That one might work

Yes, I did. When it runs it shows i5800, i9000, sgh-i897 but not i9000m. I think it's a simple thing to just add the model number to the script, because I'm pretty sure it gets installed to the same places, but I'm no expert.
Edit: I found the updater script in the zip file and looked at it with notepad, but I'm scared to just add similar notations for the i9000M without some confirmation from someone who knows more.
It really is that simple as finding the few lines in the script and copying the two you need and adding the model name displayed in your settings > about phone.
I'd throw an update.zip for ya but I have to run soon. The worst that'll likely happen is the script won't run if you get the model name wrong.
nice so I'd give it a go

Sweet! It was that simple. I just added an M to the i9000 already in the file. Thanks guys for the feedback.

Frequencies for Bell are 850/1900. So it works on Rogers, Telus, ATT.
I still find it really strange that tmobile chose to add in utms 1900 to the phone...do they even have any unused spectrum in that band...its just really bazar

I don't think it matters anymore as it may be controlled on the tower end now... but... ##data# from the phone app gets you to the "hidden menu" and then I think its in advanced. You will need your msl, which you can get using connectbot and the typing getprop in the terminal. Its the 6 digit #.

If your PRL updated before and won't now, make sure you have Sprint_app_updater.apk in your system/app directory. Some ROMs removed it as bloat:
Here it is:
Edit: you may need sprintandroidextensions.apk also

So if I load 11115 and freeze these apk's will it stay on that? I don't need to roam very much but there are areas that have absolutely horrible data speeds.

Theoretically yes. Sprint did a push on 60678 a while back and it still changed mine. It should work to freeze those 2 apks but it also messes up Visual voicemail to text.

Apparently business people are more important and it allows for 3G roaming on other networks' towers. So they get a PRL that has 3G turned on at certain roaming towers.

Roms, kernels, and modems don't modify provisioning data. I can confirm this with my modified Epic on a $30 SERO plan. This also goes for the MEID, which isn't a legitimate Epic 4G MEID on his Boost-activated Epic. He's going to have to use Google and his brain to repair his meid so it matches what's on the sticker underneath the battery
...or just find someone on craigslist to do the repair instead.

+1, once you fix your MEID, you'll want to odin to EC05, and upgrade to EI22, once your epic is activated again, hands free activation will provision the rest of the needed info.

It's what comes up once you do a Factory Reset on EI22, System Update.apk will initiate it. You'll need to activate that Epic with Sprint before that hands-free activation will work, you also need to fix your MEID if it was changed when you had it with boost.

Has anyone actually done this? I ask because in the 3g thread, it has been said that if you lose one of the keys, it cannot be restored and is needed for provisioning.
If someone gets this to work without saving and restoring the original profile passwords, please let us know here.

If you're on the correct rate plan for the phone, Hands-Free Activation/Update Profile will plug in all the necessary data values granted the MEID is the correct one registered to that account.

You seem like the person to ask with as much knowledge as you know about phones and all the work you've created; good grief. I am stuck with Sprint and cant leave until next year without paying ETF; long story short; get terrible service and have airave (only works half the time and have 3 replacements-sprint does not want to address to issue; and me being on a SERO account probably doesn't help either) but someone in a different thread mentioned about a sprint diagnostic tool that you can use to force your phone to Roam verizon towers and get the boot rather quickly from sprint; unfortunately he said it was only for samsung devices; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774503

No you don't need to change your prl. Also, Several Shift ROMs like newSENSE Supreme Sense and StockMod have roam only as an option built in so you don't have to buy roam control if you don't want too.
