Has anyone managed to flash their phones via the SD card on the 1024Leo yet?
I tried several times and failed miserably. Here's how it went...
Removed back battery cover and hit the "Reset" button
Held down both the Volume Down rocker and End Call/Power button
Bootloader came on, searched the card and found "LEOIMG.nbh"
Message pops up: "Would you like to use this new image? Press Power Button for Yes"
Here comes the tough part. You see, I was already pressing the "Power Button" to get this far. If I release it, to umm... press it again, the phone returns to the Bootloader screen. The same happens if I release the Volume Down rocker.
Tried several times last night before I gave up.
I run Linux on my home computer and my wife takes her laptop to work, so I rarely have access to Active Sync during the day. I've gotten so used to SD flashing that it hasn't been an issue in the past.
Anyone out there have a solution?

When you hit the reset button for boot loader dont hold the pwr button just the volume down. I just tried it and it brought me to bootloader by hitting the reset button while only holding the volume down button

Yeah, tried that too. It takes you to bootloader just fine, but won't search for a ROM.
Here's how I got it to work:
Moved LEOIMG.nbh to a 8GB (C2) microSD card.
Pressed Volume Down while holding the End-Call (Power Button)
Message showed "Searching..."
I released the Volume Down button, but continued to hold the Power Button down.
It immediately began flashing.
The problem was, once the message comes up that says "Press Volumedown to cancel, Press Power button to update to the new image", any buttons that are currently pressed will be considered your choice. So instead of pressing the Power Button that was already pressed, I only needed to release the Volumedown button.
The first time I attempted this, it canceled on me, I had to release "Volume Down" immediately, while the "Searching..." message was showing.
I have no idea why it was so hard for me to figure this out, but at least it's working now.
Thanks for you help, zelendel!
No prob glad you got it to work.

Hi all, guys. So, the problem is the following...
I need to hard reset mi topaz, but the VolUP + VolDown + PowerON method doesn't work. The 1234 method can't be performed since I can't access start menu. I didn't try the VolUP + VolDown + RED button when Topaz is turned on.
I think it's strange that method 1 doesn't work. It boots normally, like ignoring I'm pressing the two Volume buttons...
Any suggestion, solution, guys?
Thanks in advance!
The RED button method worked, but It's strange why the VolUP + VolDown + PowerOn method is still not working...
the soft reset and power buttons do the same thing, it just reboots the phone, and while phone starts to boot, before splash screen appears, is when you have to hold the volume keys.
So it would be;
Power on, THEN hold both volume keys immediately before device starts to boot,
or
Hit soft reset, THEN hold both volume keys immediately before device starts to boot
Did you do exactly this?
To perform a Diamond 2 hard reset
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:

This doesn't work. I think you got it mixed up.
ArtieQ wrote the correct way.
No, it works, you just aren't fast enough.
It's just different ways to get to the same place.
The point is, volumes must be pressed as device begins to boot.
I just soft reset and press them and it always works for me.

That's right! Thank you Bruce Inman, IT WORKS!
But the ArtieQ method is the one I always used... and the one that usually worked... but anyway, NOW IT WORKS! Thanks Bruce again!
Bought one of my teenagers a GT-I5800 for chrissie. It took him 4 days to set a pattern lock on the phone and then forget what the pattern was!
After trolling numerous forums, the best option seems to be a hard reset but this phone is resisting my attempts.
For the record....
tried the Home + Vol+ + Power buttons when powering on. This results in the message "FORCED UPLOAD by KEY PRESSING" but nothing else.
tried the Home + Vol- + Power buttons when powering on. This results in the message "Downloading... DO NOT TURN OF THE TARGET !!!" but again nothing else. Tried these combinations with sim card in and out and microSD in and out same results.
Does anyone know another way of resetting?

To get to the screen you want -don't remember the right name for it- you have to press vol +, vol-, home and power. Navigate with the vol buttons once you see the screen and select with home button. Atleast i had to press the button twice, so as to confirm.

Nice one Matilainen. Worked exactly as you described it...phone is reset and boy is happy!
BTW, called samsung for their advice and they said I'd have to take it in to a service centre to have it reset. I think not!
Thanks again.

in case this happens again, there should be an option if you forgot your pattern.
You input a wrong one 5 times then the option shows, and to unlock you have to use your google account.
Im pressing several different variations of Vol - + Power Maybe im doing it wrong?
Volume Down and Power button right? I feel Ignorant here this is the first android device i cant figure out how to get into recovery.

Thanks in advance.
Hold the Volume down key and then press and hold the Power key. Don't let go until you see the recovery screen.

Huh? Not even close.. If the OP wants to flash an update.zip, he needs to...
1. With device held horizantally, power button on top left, turn OFF the device.
2. Hold down the Volume - button (left side of the volume rocker)
3. Hold down the power button.
4. KEEP BOTH HELD DOWN until you see the Recovery text in the top left corner. This appears a second or so AFTER the Acer logo does.
5. Do not let go too soon or you won't enter recovery mode.
Phone is super slow and the sound is messed up. I want to switch the phone back to original state with WM installed.
I cannot seem to get the phone back in tri color mode.
Power + Volume brings aMAGLDR V1.13
What am I doing wrong? Is there any other way to force the phone in tri color boot mode?
Thanks,
make sure phone is off then only press volume - button and then press power button.
it sounds like your waiting to long to hold the vol down and power button. you need to do that before the splash screen pops up, if the splash screen shows up its already to late. pull the battery out & then place it back in..hold power for just a split second and then press vol down. im not sure why but this seems to boot a little quicker for me doing it this way then holding power and vol down at the same time from the start.
Still no luck.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold "Vol down" key
Press Power for 2 sec.
Wait for 10 + sec. nothing happens.
Press and hold "Vol down" key
Press Power for 4 sec.
Wait for 10 + sec. nothing happens.
Press and hold "Vol down" key
Press Power for 8 sec.

Phone powers up.

Guy....just HOLD VolDown and press SHORT power button.
Are you sure your volume down button works?
It doesn't matter if you short press or long press the power button it works either way the main thing is the phone has to be completely off before first pressing and holding the volume down button and while it is still down press the power button and keep the volume down pressed until bootloader screen appears.
You can also try, with the phone off or on, press the volume down button and then press something into the reset button under the battery door quickly and keep holding the volume down button.
If none of these work let me know exactly what happens after you try these. Where does it go, does it start Android?

It looks like the problem is the volume button.
I let the phone boot normally.
I noticed if I press the volume up button then the animation for vluome come up on the screen but if I press the volume down button animation does not appear.
Therefore, when I hold the volume down and press reset button, phone boots normally. I guess I am out of luck?
I am not sure how to bypass this problem but there have been others with your same problem search the other general forums for volume down button broken or something like that and I am sure there is some way to remap your buttons
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
I don't think that you can remap it so it works on that early time on bootup.

Try to hold down both UP + DOWN vol and then press POWER. Keep on holding it until you see the TRI color screen. This is a hard reset method, hope this works.
Just curious what ROM you currently running on the phone?
when in magldr can you scroll down? if so then the volume down works. magldr wont let you charge the phone in an off state so if you can scroll down. shut off phone or pull battery and wait like 15 seconds, than hold down the volume button than plug the phone in and you should be in tri-color screen if not than you need a new phone. hope this helps a little.
First time using Android, not sure what to do, the only things I can press are the power button and the volume buttons.
Everything has been fine for its first few days, battery was full. I think it went to a lock screen now I can't get the screen to respond.
RMA it dude
Have you tried a hard reset?
Try and turn off the phone if not try next step
Press and hold the Volume Down key and Power key at the same time.
Continue to hold the keys until the device turns back on.
When the device turns on, release the Power key and continue to hold the Volume Down key until you see the reset screen (Android in a Box).
Release the keys. The phone will restart.
This is assuming you are not rooted, unlocked, or have installed custom recovery.
Hope this helps

Thanks! I had the same issue this morning, this worked fine. No idea why it went blank though.
Thanks. Had the same issue. The phone was turned on and the volume buttons made that clicking sound, but no screen. This worked for me with some modification.
After holding volume down + power I had to release both and press power only to start it again.
Thanks for the solution
