What was the name of that battery monitor app - Nexus One General

I seen many of screen shot of where people shown how much battery is being use by wifi, screen, app........... a break down analysis of each.
I just got my Nexus one yesterday and it is great so far (let hope), sorry for a newbie question. I tried searching for it, but can't seem to find any. Thank you all.

Paul thank you, big fan of your work man. Although I haven't dare to root my phone yet (too new

You can also just add the shortcut by going to add -> shortcut -> settings -> battery use
It's a bit faster than having to go to settings each time.

[Solution] MUST-HAVE For X2 Users! Speed Tweaks & How to Disable "Slideview" & Panels

[Solution] MUST-HAVE For X2 Users! Speed Tweaks & How to Disable "Slideview" & Panels
DISCLAIMER: This works for me 100%. I have noticed 200% - 300% longer lasting battery life, AND at least 3 - 4 times more responsiveness throughout the whole phone, you can even benchmark the difference between stock X2 and an X2 run with my solution. I will not be held responsible for any damage to your phone!
I've read a lot, and done a lot on my X2 recently. From what I tested, black screen of death (when in standby mode) = DONT USE AUTO BACKLIGHT! Try this & see what happens.
Now, my X2 barely freezes or gets any lag at all, in fact, it is SMOOTH. Yes, you heard it, SMOOTH (even when scrolling through start menu).
Using the X2 as of now is a nightmare, but I've come up with a solution until MR2 comes out. And, lets hope MR2 really is for the best.
This solution is based on the standard WM today home screen. I haven't come across ANY problems at all.
One day, I came up with an idea. If I dont use tilewave, why do I have to keep it? Considering growing panel, pixel city panels caused lag to the phone, I decided to delete tilewave altogether and now my phone is significantly faster!
Standard WM today screen I think, is in fact I think its the best:
Less battery drainage, simple, fast, efficient, no black screen of deaths.
This solution works BEST if you follow ALL STEPS BELOW:
1) Uninstall Growing Panel, Pixel City (Day & Night) | (Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs)
2) Uninstall all SPB shell and software. (Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs)
3) Start -> Settings -> Today -> Tick Date & Messaging (Or any other plug-in of your choice, less the better)
4) Delete tilewave panel in (File Explorer -> Program Files -> Panels)
5) Delete the other panels of your choice, I deleted everything except google panel (In case today panel for some reason crashes, I still got google panel to work with) | (File Explorer -> Program Files -> Panels)
6) SKtools (Search SKtools on XDA forums search function) -> Tweak -> Optimise -> Tick Font cache size and TCP window size -> Action -> Performance -> Optimise -> Soft reset
7) Advanced configuration tool (Search in XDA forums for the program / google it) -> Performances ->
ENABLED
File system cache: 8MB
File system cache size: 16384 sectors
Glyph cache: 32kb
8) SKtools -> Category -> Clean up -> Go to EACH and EVERY option to delete bad registries, temp cache folders, bad uninstall info, etc. MAKE SURE clean up EACH option in clean-up. INCLUDING registry optimiser, do it!
9) To resolve the messaging lag: Search "SMS lag fix" in XDA forums to get rid of lag.
10) Disable Slideview: Delete the string "launch199" from HKLM\init (Use TotalCommander program, credits to bazsikar & jerpelea for this one!)
11) Disable Panel Manager (OPTIONAL): Delete ALL panels except MS_Today panel in programfiles\panels to disable panelmanager.exe
12) Disable XKeyhandler: SKtools-> Services-> Delete xkeyhandler. Step 2: Totalcommander-> HKLM -> init -> Delete Launch65
13) DONE! Soft-reset one last time, and FEEL the difference =)
This solution covers, as far as I know, the general basic operations and responsiveness of the entire windows mobile system for the X2 and/or other WM devices. I don't suffer any MR1 upgrade issues with this solution other than the "Storage card disappearing" issue, which everyone is having a problem with as well.
Disabling slideview is good option for those who think its totally useless (like me) and just causes the system to crash, and hogs A LOT of CPU resources and thus, lags the phone and also plays a role in causing the black screens. You will notice a SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE in battery life and less bugs and crashes with this one!
Credits go to XDA-developers and their respective authors for the posts, you know who you are. All I've done is complile the information and made a solution for the X2 users out there.
UPDATE: To disable slideview, read step 10, credits to bazsikar & jerpelea =)
UPDATE 2: To disable panel manager and panels, read step 11 & 12 =)
ALL THE STEPS COMBINED ABOVE WILL GIVE YOU A FAST, SMOOTH X2 WITH NO BLACK SCREEN OR CRASHES + 400% IMPROVED BATTERY LIFE (1 MONTH SO FAR, I HAVENT HAD A SINGLE CRASH OR BUG)
Feedback welcome, and please report if this works for you, because it worked for me 100% =)
Thanks for the update , I will give the SK tools thing a crack later.
Thanks for tip!
I got stability on a real good level
by just not using TileWave.
SlideView has sometimes problem with
video playing in Landscape mode...
Seems to be a bit quicker, we will see how stable it is.
thx royalbloodvi but nothing new in the solutions
Just finished with the tunning, it seems faster, lets give it a try
for now i leave my benchmark results
Integer 316.5749
Floating Point 7.565
RAM Acccess 594

MainStor Write 2011.79
MainStor Read 5667.90
Storage Card W 962.86
Storage Card R 1189.31

Hi all
Im having a strange and annoying issue..., i dont know if it was after or before the procedure depicted here by royalbloodvi but maybe you can know what is going on..
If i install software on the storage card, i can see the folder created under "Program Files" and i can execute the software with no problems.
Then when i close the app, somehow, automagically the entire folder structure under "Storage Card\Program Files" gets erased, doesnt matter if i have one or twenty apps there, always happens the same thing ....
I dont know if i explain myself clearly, in fact english is not my mother language as you can see haha, but i dont know whats going on, even in this case i dont know which keywords i have to use to google it...
Please if you can give me some advice or trick would be very appreciated, even the "right" english keywords to search for it.
Thanks in advance dudes...

Thanks!
And also thanks for your sharing, I'm just removing everything you suggested and let's see. Although I'm a bit sad because I like SlideView and TileWave, especially visualy but I need some functions working properly instead, so I give it a try.
As I extensively use X2, using most of it's features (besides GPS)
I must say that the main thing FOR ME was to not use extensively TileWave.
After beeing really frustrated and unhappy, I was still tracing the places where the device crash.
And found it was using some functions on TileWave, I can say it
after repeating the patterns about 50 times, I was like a real beta tester....
So avoiding it, the device works almost seamless....
The bugs I see:
As I mentioned, the main SlideView bug is playing and exiting video playback
in landscape... This always crash sooner or later.
Besides that, the device gets stuck in Sound&Notification settings once you go there sometimes
and WM Homescreen sometimes doesn't see the pictures from memory card.
Besides that, it works and if they'll ever make it reliable,
it's my best choice.
volks,
i have been using x1 for over an year and been in XDA for yearssss,
that thing that i notice in openGL (msn 7200 platform)freeze the phone and crash the system.
if you wanna crash your sytem use slideview panelmanger ,play xtrakt then run a video and your xperia will crash.
opengl on the msm 7200 platfom is very unstable(maybe its the lack of good drivers or window mobile integration).
avoid opengl stuff and you will be good.
UPDATE: To disable panelmanager.exe, simply delete all panels in programfiles\panels EXCEPT MS_Today panel, and panelmanager will no longer run.
Result: Extend battery life EVEN further! Works best for those who dont use panels like me (I find it pointless)

Yes, I deleted it aswell from HKLM\init together with xkeyhandler.exe
Good battery life and stable system, no freezing at all, no missed sms or calls.
Although camera still doesn't start sometimes even if saving location is set to phone memory.

Camera sometimes doesn't start with certain apps in the background
that's my finding.
I've had it with stopwatch running.
Once I turned this off, camera went fine.
As for me - I use panels and SlideView, but just don't use certain
things from these, also no freezes at all.
The main concern is memory card problems now!
(please excuse my english)
thanks for this solution, X2 is better whitout slideview.
but i have always probleme this memory card (like everybody)
and some crash in standy by mode -> black screen and soft reset :'(
other problème : illluminations don't work normaly (maybe because i have use a cab find in xda ...)
and picture in mms are very very very small ...
anybody was an idea ?
thanks

Just got my SGS...so what first?

Hey guys, just picked up my SGS and have had about 30mins playing with it (before I killed the battery...lol).
What should I get first?
For some reason I cant find Swype...I thought it was pre-installed in Samsung phones? Its not in the Samsung Apps App either.
Also, what do you recommend for testing the GPS? I am curious to see how bad it is.
Anyhow, just a real quick message to say, thanks for all your help over the past 2 weeks (and upcoming weeks).
For now it appears to be a kick ass phone.

GPS test is a nice thing to get the specs on the GPS (basically accuracy, your satellites in view and the # you are locked on). For testing GPS, in how it will affect your real world performance get My Tracks. Run my tracks and go for a: walk, jog, run, bike, car ride (whatever is closest to your hobbies and/or typical usage scenario). It will show you where you've been on a map, show places where your signal has dropped (if at all), shows you things like your speed and elevation (elevation is stated to be a good relative indication of indication, e.g. total ascent/descent, but not necessarily accurate to sea level).
Besides that, try out LauncherPro, see if you like it more than Touchwiz. I recommend caching your pages, to improve moving, however it will slow down adding new widgets and icons. In addition to LauncherPro I use QuickDesk (free IIRC) and Widget Locker (paid between .99-1.99 USD IIRC, if not probably confused with Quickdesk).
A weather widget can be cute and useful. Beautiful widgets is an extremely popular option (1.49 euro, IIRC, I use a free knock-off called WF & Clock Widget).
Power Control for a great one touch access to: wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync & brightness settings
Text-to-Speech TTS
QR scanner
PSXforDroid
Gesture Search (regular search is more powerful and might be more popular, not sure, I like gesture search)
Google Goggles
Wifi Analyzer
A business finding app, maybe: Foursquare, places directory, yelp or other.

Oh yeah, the rest of the Google Software Suite:
Google Earth
Google Voice Search (installed on most devices, but not all)
Google Maps (I think installed on all devices, but I can't remember), I also like brut mod that was developed at xda. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=brut+mod
Google Sky Map
Google Translate
Google Voice (if in the US)
Shopper (if you use Google Shopping)
Excellent guys, thanks for the great info!
I have got swype working, and have tried gps test.
On my first test the GPS inside my car seemed flakey...i.e first it found 8 sat's and locked onto 7, but then it suddenly dropped to 3, and then back upto 8.
I will have more of a play with it later.
First impressions are great! Phone really seems amazing, however I have noticed that the battery goes down very quick..
I had the phone fully charged this morning @ 07:00, and 1hr 20mins later I am down to 80%!
At this rate my phone will be dead in another 4 hours....
I also cannot seem to connect via the USB, just using mass storage.
I disabled the debugger, and selected mass storage, but the 2 files that show up in my computer just say that they are not accessible.
Any ideas?
You need to open the notification area at the top of the screen and tap on "USB Connected", then "Mount". Not quite sure why this isn't automatic when you've already selected "Mass Storage", but never mind!

Losing 20% on a (nearly) brand new battery after 1:20 minutes with the display running OR the GPS running is to be expected and probably better than average for the phone. If you have both running, well consider yourself to have some good battery life when having the phone idle and using more typical (? moderate is probably a better word) daily usage. The 4" screen will suck power, for instance if you are just reading without any processor intensive activities going on the display will cause over 80% of the battery drainage, running GPS/3G/wi-fi/backgrounding will drain the battery even faster though the display will be a smaller % of the drain.
I think even a fully conditioned battery should last about 5 hours with the display, GPS and 3G on all at the same time. Not quite sure as I'm just unwilling to torture my battery like that.
As far as the files go, I assume you actually mean "folders", the 2 drives that it says are available from "My computer" with new drive names. One of these is the expandable storage, and you won't be able to access it until you insert an SD card into your phone. The other will be accessible after you properly install and mount the device.

Samsung drivers are miserable to install. In my experience, it might just be my firmware, after you get them installed you don't have to deal with the mounting thing. Am I wrong? Initially, I had the same issue, but maybe I am mis-attributing the resolution.
Dont listen to any of these guys here ... u got ur sgs ... now secure your phone. Whether it be the built in security app that can only be used in asia or europe or wherever (cant be used in us so i dont know)
I personally use wavesecure, it cost about 20 a yr for autobackup plus if ur phone gets lost or stolen you can track it down.
Then get a screen protector ... i personally use the zagg maximum body protection.
After your phone is protected carry on with your regular app installing.
Boo to screen protectors (i used one on my original iphone but nothing since), but to each their own. Also, you are essentially saying "don't bother using your phone in the meantime until you get your screen protector...double boo

where are all the specific phone settings on android

adb or terminal?????
root explorer, from market
is the root explorer the one that should be on the phone already??if so,thats what i mean,i cant find those files like i can on the windows mobile part of my phone..sorry guys,,,making something simple into something complicated
If I understand you correctly you're looking for the power control widget, or something more detailed like power control plus or extended controls. You can search in the market for them. They can control brightness, wifi, data, rotation etc.
I haven't seen many builds that have the batterystats.bin lately, what build are you using? All the new kernels manage the battery very well, if you're using an old one you should update it, hastarin kernels since v8 and all the mdj kernels have all had the good battery management in them.

[HOW TO][EASY] Make your phone faster - For new users

Hi everybody,
First of all I want to say that this is not the first thread about this but there is a lot of new comer at XDA since the SGS3 is(was?) the most sold phone in the world and a lot of people don't know about this.I could not find the old thread so I decided to just make a new one. EDIT: Original Thread can be found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735283 It's nothing new and (almost) all old users know about this.
Samsung wants us to see how beautiful Android can be, so a lot of useless features are turned on by default when you buy your phone. All these features takes Batteries / RAM and CPU. First thing all new android user should learn is how to turn them off.
LET'S START!
Go in your phone Settings
Go to Developer options
Go to Windows animation scale -> Turn it off
Go to Transition animation scale -> Turn it off
Go to Animator duration scale -> Turn it off
***You can also turn on "Force GPU rendering" but SOME applications don't like that, so you can try it, but if you find you start having problem with some of your aplications, turn it off.
That's it! Now try your phone and see how much faster it is.:victory:
I can already see old members writing to say it does not make the phone faster, it only turn off the animations. Well for me the result is the same whatever the technical reason is. No (useless) animations = Faster phone
XDA is a sharing information forum so I'm just sharing. This info is intented for the new SGS3 user.
Thanks
Have a good day
<- Please don't forget to hit the THANKS button if it helped you.
useless!
i try this in my device and it give you a pretty sweet feel of speed

Was not me. Like I said in the OP, I know there was another thread but I made search and could not find it. Anyway if the other one re-appear I will jut close his one.
just tried this..and my s3 does seem more speedy

no need to root the phone. for changing DPI or adding more toggles.

hi guys..
sorry my English is note good..
this thread is created to explain how can we change DPI on our phone without rooting or loosing Samsung pay app and keeping knox safe.
you don't need genius brain to do that no need to download anything or connect your phone to pc..
i found it while finding more option in Developers option.
So you for doing this
if you have not enable developer option
go to: setting > About device > software info > Build number (hit it 5 to 6 time) and you will se it below abote device.
now in the developer option find (Minimum width)
default it is (413 DP)
and you can just change it as per you like.. that's it.. you don't need to reboot your also..
this is just awesome very simple..
i have kept 600 DP
ill up-lode some SS for reference.
for more toggles then 5 or 6 you will have to keep minimum 600 dp and you will automatically get 8 toggles in the bar..
by keeping 600 dp you will see the difference in the apps also..
G mail
Browser:laugh:
File commander:laugh:
Camera
your Samsung keyboard will go slightly left but you can replace it by google keyboard .. looks more cool
and also recommended NOVA launcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en
that's it..
good luck and have a good day..
:good:
===============================================================================
more information
If you are running ON screen resolution WQHD (2560x1440)
Keep 510 dp
SO
this will not change the keypad or keyboard look of the themes..
and keep them original
Thank you very much for this!
I looked around for a little while before I found this, and I'm really surprised this isn't in the forefront of the note 5 forums since people are constantly asking about this feature all over the internet.
