I have my phone set up with the Helix launcher. I really like it and have no plans to go back to senseUI. I have removed most the sense widgets and the rosie file. I have a weather app that I like. Can I safely remove all of the stock weather files/widgets without it messing up the calendar? I noticed that when you select a day from the calendar it shows the weather at the bottom.

I would backup and try it. Cant hurt...But, since the calendar relies on it chances are it will screw it up...
maybe try a different calendar?

Any good calendar Widgets that display your upcoming events similar to the sense based Widgets?

smooth calendar
I've tried most of them. My favorites are:
Free - Android Agenda Widget
Paid - Pure Calendar Widget
Pure Calendar Widget I think is the best but it cost a couple dollars.

+1 smooth calendar
Smooth calendar is the best for me...

I have also tried them all. I prefer Simple Calendar Widget for the next appointment view and then Launcher Pro for the agenda view.

Pure Calendar Widget
I like business calendar cause it reminds me of the Sense calendar widget, which was my favorite of all the calendar widgets.
I am using Pure Calendar Widget, because it integrates with Got To Do, which is now defunct.
another +1 for smooth calendar here!
I was going through many different Widgets for various tasks. And then I tried launcher. It cut 10mb off my ram usage, also adds resisable Widgets (standard aswel), has a nice calander widget (I specifically bought it for this) and ads some sick customization. It is very stable too. Please note that this app completely replaces the stock launcher, and so will not even be cached on startup. There is a free version to try, but it is minus the Widgets you seek, but does have screen shots of them (in app). Sory if this seems off topic, but its just another consideration to take in with all the other very helpful suggestions.

Dunno about the HTC calendar but I'm using Android Agenda Widget which is very customizable, integrates with Astrid and GTasks (which in turn integrated with Google Tasks) and also displays your contacts birthdays.
It doesn't look very fancy but it works well!
Pure Calendar Widget vs Smooth Calendar
I just switched to Smooth Calendar from Pure Calendar. Pure Calendar is very functional and looks good unless you switch back and forth between landscape and portrait on your home screen. Regardless of the settings, in landscape Pure's widget gets horribly pinched and is not pleasant. I like Smooth because I really only want a good looking agenda widget; I prefer using the native calendar app for creation and editing.
On a side note, I really liked SPB Shell's calendar widget. Although the widget took an entire pane, it had both a good looking calendar and agenda. Ultimately, I uninstalled in favor of the better usability of ADW Launcher.
I like Android Agenda Widget.
1) Launcher Pro - built in
2) Colorize
3) Pure Calendar

Im think of moving to CM, I'm running Calkulin's Sense Rom no and i can't do with out a Good Calendar that will pull Google Calendar & Exchange. I also need a decent Clock widget as similar to the Sense on as i can get with an alarm clock. Also a decent people widget would be nice. these are the only things holding me back. You CM People here is your challenge to convert yet another.
Pure Calender widget. Pure grid calendar. Also free ones in the market. If you want to incorporate missed calls/mms / exchange email/ twitter/Facebook then use pure messenger. If you need to know more Widgets let me know.
Beautiful Widgets for clock, or gtabsimiclock. Fancy Widgets as well, clokr too and tajm. search for clock widget in the market.
Contacts widget for your contacts.

+1 on Beautiful Widgets. If you pick up the paid version of LauncherPro, you also get a nice calendar and people widget (among others) that are similar to sense.
I just wanted to then you both. I used grit calendar, launched pro for people. Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather for the sense like expierience withfull support of Hotmail, Gmail, and exchange syncing.

I managed to overwrite the stock weather widget from the Samsung Apps with a different style but i'd like to go back to the original weather widget. Any ideas if this is possible?

if you go to settings-applications-manage applications and choose the widget from there you may see an option which says ''Uninstall updates''
this is how it works in SGS but I am not sure about sgs2. it should work the same. just give it a try...
What warfanax said. I also updated, but the 'new' weather clock was broken - no locations were recognised. I uninstalled and got my old widget back (which is much better because it can be resized).

Hello all,
I recently flashed FORCE ROM and love it. However one thing I do miss is the stock Google calendar widget. The green one that shows the entire month. I've downloaded the one from the play store but that just doesn't cut it. I've pulled the .apk from my stock backup but I cannot get it to install. Anyone know how I can get this widget back? Thanks!

Any luck with this?
I had to disable the widget to get TouchWiz home working again and I can't find the default widget.

You can try the GO Calendar Widget as an alternative!
Ok, after re-enabling calendar widget and rebooting phone, the default month calendar widget is available.
However, as soon as I try to attach it to a home page, TouchWiz home stops working as soon as I access that screen.
All other screens work fine.
Has anyone had a problem where widgets will not update (for example, weather widgets don't refresh and switch widgets don't show a change in state)? I had thought I traced my issue to Be weather, and switched to Beautiful Widgets and after working fine for a day or two it has started to cease updating every few hours and require me to restart the launcher. I noticed this on Apex and Go Launcher.

The widgets I am referring to are third party - BeWeather and Beautiful Widgets appear to potentially "cause" an issue, but once the issue occurs, all widgets are impacted.

My internet access works fine (I still get emails) - and once I restart the launcher it automatically updates. Plus I have played with the network optimizer function (new feature that will go on and off WiFi depending on the ability to get on the internet) on and off and the same thing happens.

The re-update switch in the widgets doesn't work. Updating launchers and widgets to latest versions does not work. All widgets just become unresponsive including switch widgets (I use switchpro). They will perform the function (I.e. on a weather widget the update happens in the background and the switch will perform whatever function its tied to) but it will not display (I.e. the switch widget will not show the change in state and weather widgets will not show the updated weather).

Lol - I hang out with all apple guys. I do know one person with an S5, uses Go Launcher and has this issue with the Accuweather widget and the stock weather widget (which I believe was also powered by accuweather on the back end). I noticed that, regardless of the widget I was using, I still show BeWeather as an active process, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I still have the issue however.
PS - I have no issues with my Nexus 7 (2012) which runs Kitkat as well.
Interestingly enough, the problem seems to have fixed itself. There were updates to Apex in the meantime, perhaps its that.
My friend with Go Launcher is also seeing the same impact - the issue is gone.

Calendar widget quit updating
Just today, my calendar widget stopped updating. Just says "No upcoming calendar events." I've tried the stock and Agenda Widgets - nothing. I'm running Google Now launcher, but they don't work in Touchwiz Launcher either. I noticed yesterday that the number of items on the widget began to dwindle.
Any fix for this?
Well, trust me I did everything for my Xperia L when I encountered this problem.
What I did for my device

Look two three posts before it for more information!
What fixed it was taking battery out for few minutes and putting it back again!
Hey guys, if you stop the cashed process for touchwiz home, the widgets immediately start updating. I'm using a verizon Samsung galaxy s5 4.4.4 kitkat. Just thought I'd throw that in...
