If you're looking to get rid of the menu bar at the bottom of the Today Screen, read on. This is not a new tip, but might save you time, as there's a lot of different versions of these programs flying around. Only the one below works on WM6 / HTC Touch.
I personally find that the Menu Bars at the bottom of the Today Screen really spoil the look of the HTC Touch's sleek black/grey theme. Besides, the Comm Manager and Contacts are both accessible via the spinning cube (or the camera button if you install Double Launcher) so there's no need to have on the Today Screen, you may as well get more space for plugins, or just to keep everything looking neat and tidy. See screenshot below!
Here's how to banish them forever (?!) :
1. Download ToggleTodayIIAlpha from this link:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
2. Copy it to your \Windows\Startup directory. (or somewhere else and paste a shortcut instead)
3. Go into the registry and edit this key:
HKLM/Software/Vijay555/VJTodayToggle
Change these keys:
Softkeysize = 1
StartSize = 26
TrayVisible = 1
That's it! I've had no massive problems with this so far, although I haven't been testing it for too long. I'd be interested to hear how people get on in terms of stability/bugs. You WILL get problems if you try to use any of the older VJTodayToggle programs in the thread on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
(SIP keyboard staying on, SIP moving to the top of the screen, menu titles disappearing but not the background, etc.)
...in fact, that's precisely why I'm sharing this info with you, as this thread is 39 pages long and it's only towards the end that things become totally clear! I'll post again if there's any unexpected side-effects, I'm currently minimising BatteryStatus and I don't know whether this will
Good luck!
Carlos
NOTES / ADVANCED
=======================
A: If you want to make your screen even neater AND still overclock your Touch, then, in step 3 above, you can make TrayVisible=0 then you can minimise the BatteryStatus plugin and it won't show up on your today screen. (right click on batterystatus icon, choose 'show rows -> minimise') I haven't tested this properly yet.
B: If you want to explore hiding the Start Menu, feel free, it looks superb when you first do it, but then I have found that the HTC biotouch (spinning cube) automatically re-instates the start menu bar when it's deactivated each time.
C: Please note, this program ( tt2.exe) DOES NOT TOGGLE, even though it's called that! Again, it's a 39 page thread, I warned you...
D: You can also run TT2.exe with a -config option to avoid editing the registry, but this would actually make the above even more long-winded to explain to any n00bs.
E: A nice new HTC wallpaper is doing the rounds without the logo. (As you can see from my screenshot, it's mis-positioned with the extra screen space) See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830
F: Vijay555 has been meaning to release a new (non-alpha) version of the software for some time, but sounds pretty busy. He seems like an all-round splendid guy though and I'd like to thank him for this software and his continued postings/programming.
I have the HTC X7500 WM6 and I've been desperate to make it works.
I've been trying other version from the 40 pages thread, so I'll try this one and I will post result.

Good luck! The honest truth is that after I'd posted this, I discovered a couple of bugs that appeared in soak testing. I gave up in the end - it worked 90% but I would still occasionally get conflict, e.g. the SIP keyboard would appear at the top of the screen sometimes and only a soft reset would put it back where it was meant to be!

Yep I confirm that, SIP keyboard is there, and sometimes as well softkeys stay there after softreset.
Well actually for me it's even worse, it's hiding the system tray (the bar just above the softkeys bar) where we can add shortcuts icons and keep the softkeys bar enabled..
Im disappointed but thks for vijay555 for all the efforts
Perfect... without HTC Logo is even better...
Thanks Carlos,
I've just installed and its working fine. With the clean background from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830 looks even better.
Cheers,
Marcelo

See my original post, have you tried setting TrayVisible=1 in the registry, this should show the system tray.
I followed exactly what u posted, it displayed it correctly the first time, then after soft reset it was displaying only the softkeys bar and hiding the system tray bar
Thks anyway
How does this look on screens BESIDES the today screen? I have used other programs on different WM phones in the past and although the bottom bar disappears on the today screen, it is still on other screens.
Also, can you use the bottom of the screen or is it just dead space? Some of us have moved the HTC Home Plug to the bottom of the page and if it is just dead space, it is going to look bad....

The menu bar is visible on other screens, this behaviour is by design. I cannot see why anybody would want it invisible on other screens, as you normally need those softkeys for menus in most programs!
As far as I know you can use the bottom of the screen, it is not dead space. But why not try it out - it's unlikely to do any harm. You can always delete it from your startup directory to uninstall if you don't want it.

Well it works well so far.....(Not my screen, Neo's screen @ HoFo)
I can't remember if the TrayVisible setting even works - I think it was something I was intending to build in, but never got around to it.
Apologies... I'm kinda programming again, had lots going on, so never finished the app. Sorry for you guys having to use my unfinished piece of cr*p. I'll make it work properly one day!

HELP!!!
I installed this, but I don't know how to get into the registry from an .exe file, so I just tried to open the file through my phone, and instead it has hidden my start bar, as well as the bottom bar. How do I reverse this???

How did you "move" the HTC Home plugin to the bottom part of the Today-screen without any plugin above it? I searched all over the forums, but I cannot find the answer to this question

Just soft reset your phone.

Use the HTC Home customizer to "unlock" it. Then you can move it around like normal.
However, it doesn't redraw correctly on the right side if you unlock it, and a scrollbar comes and goes.
i have a other solution!! PCM shrink installe it and your bar remove it s very easier! For become to the original config juste delete the programmz!!
won't stick
Hi..very nice and easy Zip File..just one problem: the toggle won't stick after a soft reset = one has to go into File Explorer..double click the Toggle File and only than the screen is "clean" again.
Any way to make the toggle "stick"?
I have not this problem! I install the cab i going on the explorer and today shrink and clik on after i reboot my pda ans the bar not appear ... You can try put a abbreviated of today skrink in WINdows/started for star the application automatic on windows sartup
the result of the appl:
I have this running at startup on my Tilt, works with screen rotations and everything! And the hard keys are still mapped to calendar and contacts for quick access, awesome.
Many thanks, couldn't stand those useless soft keys before.

Very frustrated...yesterday I stumbled across a thread which had a couple of cab files I want (I'm almost certain it was titled 'Show your screens' or something like that) - can I f..king find it last night OR today????? Can I hell....looked from pages 1-33 on here THREE times...ugh.
Anyway - what I was actually after (sigh) is - there appeared to be a .CAB which applied the Home screen background in TF3D to ALL the tabs in TF3D (with it there was also a custom font cab [french display] and a no_curtains cab, but I found the no_curtains one cross posted from the diamond forum)
ALSO - I think I saw a .CAB for removing the annoying (for me at least) 'Tron'-like/perspective grey buttons background that is default in TF3D - does anyone know if this cab does exist for the HD?
Help very very much appreciated (huge apologies if I've completely spaced and these are right under my nose....)
I second you. I've been looking for a simple way to either eliminate all background from TF3D tabs on the HD, or set a common background image on all tabs, but I could not find a ready-made .cab or a clear procedure to do so.
Go to here:- TF3D Program Icons
In there WAS the .cab file TFL3DTABICONSV3.cab to change the icons.
Unfortunately it's no longer on uploadings server. Your best bet is to leave a post in that topic and maybe someone will have a new link for you..... or try google.

Always easier to just use the search function. Entering something straight forward like "hd background on all pages" gets you here:

Thanks! - my search criteria wasn't cutting it - brainlock!!
much obliged
Hi folks,
searched around this forum (and others) unsuccessfully for hours now, maybe someone knows what i'm looking for.
I don't like the procedure of confirming appointments or tasks provided by WM6 in combination with tf3d.
If you can't confirm the alarm instantly it disappears after a while and the softkey is overruled by tf3d.
As you all know you have to press the top bar and after that the bell in the upcoming screen to bring the reminder in front and if you want to be reminded later you need two more fingertips.
What i am looking for (or what i'm dreaming about) is a fingerfriendly dialog (maybe in a transparent curtain style corresponding to tf3d or so) popping up and staying in front of the screen until it is confirmed, containig the information about the task or appointment, maybe the current time, buttons for confirmation or repeating after a while.
By the way a big thank you to all the developers and contributors, this forum is No.1 and helped me a lot for years now.
Thanks in advance
Me too!
Yeah, I'll second that! Bloody annoying when the pop-up disappears before you get a chance to interact with it. If anyone has a solution to this, I'm all ears
Pop up stays put when using S2U2
Cheers...

Thanks my friend... been using another screen lock app, S2U2 is alot better I have to say - and FREE!
Hmmm....., S2U2,
i followed the developing from on the beginning and used it on my old prophet (at this point a lot of thanks to A_C for this excellent piece of work) but found that the handling of appointments when popping up wasn't as good as the rest of the app.
The appointment comes up (as the native windows dialog, which is, let me say, not very beautyful, also the top bar comes up, cutting of the S2U2 clock) and stays on the S2U2 screen but if you don't recognize it and the device goes into stand-by and you switch it on later the pop-up is gone (at least on the prophet), which is no problem on a classic today screen, but on a tf3d screen the softeys are overruled and you have the "problem" described in my first post.
And as a locking solution you have some other opportunities today, SlideToAnswer and TouchlockPro are fitting my needs better on the diamond.
Also in times of eyecandy i think this dialog is a missing link in the chain of beautyness.
So i'm still in hope that someone has a recommendation, but maybe it's not a problem for the most.
Help me please, I have huge problem with some icons in my start menu!
Problem is that since last night I dont have those 5, if I can say normal-official icons named People, Calendar, Music, Footprint and Peep in my start menu, but I have some strange icons (white square with blue ribbon on the top of square) with new names HTC People, HTC Calendar, HTC Music, HTC Footprints and HTC Twitter in start menu.
Every time when I removed them (delete) from windows/start menu after every new restart of phone they are still there.
Does anybody knows how to remove that white square icons and to restore "normal" icons in my start menu folder in order to see them when I press start, or at least how to change look of that white icons, just to look like normal icons?
you have tried to move/delete read only files.look in the hints and tips thread for more information.
Where I can find that read only files.look, and will it solve my problem?

There's a lot of other information in there, but the answer to your question is in the hints and tips thread, linked in my sig.
I'd highly recommend reading through the tips in there. Like I said, there are a lot, but they're very useful and often the most commonly asked questions in new threads.
Goo lukc mate
Thanks I'll try to find answer there.
I hope I'll find right answer and solve problem without hard reset.

Definitely no need to hard reset for that!
As johnc.. has said, take a look at the tweaks and tips threads.
I did as johnc... said and I found how to move duplicated blanc icons and not to see them again but I couldn't find how to restore original icons of calendar, twetter, people, footprints and music to start menu.
One day i was looking for a cab. that gave your top bar and bottom bar the transparent look but there were to many steps to perform. then, there was a way to do it using B4all..which i didn't have..so i started tinkering with my CHT editor and found a way to make it look like i had no bars at all! Simply go to 'set wallpaper' on the CHT menu.choose a wallpaper for portrait 480x800 like you'd normally do.now scroll down to the skin task bar and soft key bar section and select the same wallpaper you used for portrait.now when you restart and go to your home screen,it SHOULD look like you have no task bar or soft key bar at all!! i apologize if this has already been discussed on another thread..there's just sooo many to go thru.
Holy crap, I had no idea! Thanks for posting about this! This is awesome! OMG OMG.
No problem Juggs. I figured, if i could save others time and headaches from trying to find a cab that does it,then why not.lol..because i went thru a few headaches myself. i'm kind of a noob at this but i'm somewhat self teaching myself by tinkering with stuff and following this XDA thread.
Nice of you to share this information, but this functionality isnt within the CHTeditor, its standard functionality of CHT and would work without the Editor.
Also, I am sure the updated release notes of CHT states the added functionality without anyone having to trawl through the dedicated thread.
