Confirmation of calendar events/reminders - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi folks,
searched around this forum (and others) unsuccessfully for hours now, maybe someone knows what i'm looking for.
I don't like the procedure of confirming appointments or tasks provided by WM6 in combination with tf3d.
If you can't confirm the alarm instantly it disappears after a while and the softkey is overruled by tf3d.
As you all know you have to press the top bar and after that the bell in the upcoming screen to bring the reminder in front and if you want to be reminded later you need two more fingertips.
What i am looking for (or what i'm dreaming about) is a fingerfriendly dialog (maybe in a transparent curtain style corresponding to tf3d or so) popping up and staying in front of the screen until it is confirmed, containig the information about the task or appointment, maybe the current time, buttons for confirmation or repeating after a while.
By the way a big thank you to all the developers and contributors, this forum is No.1 and helped me a lot for years now.
Thanks in advance

Me too!
Yeah, I'll second that! Bloody annoying when the pop-up disappears before you get a chance to interact with it. If anyone has a solution to this, I'm all ears

Pop up stays put when using S2U2

Thanks my friend... been using another screen lock app, S2U2 is alot better I have to say - and FREE!

Hmmm....., S2U2,
i followed the developing from on the beginning and used it on my old prophet (at this point a lot of thanks to A_C for this excellent piece of work) but found that the handling of appointments when popping up wasn't as good as the rest of the app.
The appointment comes up (as the native windows dialog, which is, let me say, not very beautyful, also the top bar comes up, cutting of the S2U2 clock) and stays on the S2U2 screen but if you don't recognize it and the device goes into stand-by and you switch it on later the pop-up is gone (at least on the prophet), which is no problem on a classic today screen, but on a tf3d screen the softeys are overruled and you have the "problem" described in my first post.
And as a locking solution you have some other opportunities today, SlideToAnswer and TouchlockPro are fitting my needs better on the diamond.
Also in times of eyecandy i think this dialog is a missing link in the chain of beautyness.
So i'm still in hope that someone has a recommendation, but maybe it's not a problem for the most.

Prophet Eutopia

Okay, the Prophet is a great machine. I am getting used to WM5 and like it a lot. The Prophet is fast enough for normal business use, so no complaints.
I do have a wee list of things I would like to be able to do. Some might already have been cracked, so any help would be fab. (These also apply to Wizard and other WM5 devices.)
1) Button Lock
Pressing the power locks the buttons. All is well until you get a notification and then the buttons come alive and your pocket can take over and start dialling people!
Is there any software / reg fix to require a key combination. (I know about the code option, but that is tricky without the stylus.)
Good old Menu * on the Nokia is great!
2) Network info
Is there a simple and clean Today plugin / element that will show you the network name and the signal strength? I know there is commercial stuff out there, but I want something that is in keeping with the regular Today stuff and looks like it came with the machine!
3) Upcoming Events
Can you limit the number in the list. I like to know the next four appointments, but when I have a busy day (!) a scroll bar appears and looks ugly!!
As you can see, I am not that fussy!!
Any ideas appreciated.
1. Mort Saver, get it from www.sto-helit.de
2. DkToday, use the search to find it.
BTW, MortSaver also shows phone signal, but no operator name and only when activated. DKToday shows it in your today screen

A freeware Calendar+ will definitely help. Download it here: http://mohairsofa.com/content/downloads/calplus.exe
Use the little padlock icon on your today screen to lock the phone.

Enlarge your today screen (how to remove the bottom menu bars)

If you're looking to get rid of the menu bar at the bottom of the Today Screen, read on. This is not a new tip, but might save you time, as there's a lot of different versions of these programs flying around. Only the one below works on WM6 / HTC Touch.
I personally find that the Menu Bars at the bottom of the Today Screen really spoil the look of the HTC Touch's sleek black/grey theme. Besides, the Comm Manager and Contacts are both accessible via the spinning cube (or the camera button if you install Double Launcher) so there's no need to have on the Today Screen, you may as well get more space for plugins, or just to keep everything looking neat and tidy. See screenshot below!
Here's how to banish them forever (?!) :
1. Download ToggleTodayIIAlpha from this link:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
2. Copy it to your \Windows\Startup directory. (or somewhere else and paste a shortcut instead)
3. Go into the registry and edit this key:
HKLM/Software/Vijay555/VJTodayToggle
Change these keys:
Softkeysize = 1
StartSize = 26
TrayVisible = 1
That's it! I've had no massive problems with this so far, although I haven't been testing it for too long. I'd be interested to hear how people get on in terms of stability/bugs. You WILL get problems if you try to use any of the older VJTodayToggle programs in the thread on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
(SIP keyboard staying on, SIP moving to the top of the screen, menu titles disappearing but not the background, etc.)
...in fact, that's precisely why I'm sharing this info with you, as this thread is 39 pages long and it's only towards the end that things become totally clear! I'll post again if there's any unexpected side-effects, I'm currently minimising BatteryStatus and I don't know whether this will
Good luck!
Carlos
NOTES / ADVANCED
=======================
A: If you want to make your screen even neater AND still overclock your Touch, then, in step 3 above, you can make TrayVisible=0 then you can minimise the BatteryStatus plugin and it won't show up on your today screen. (right click on batterystatus icon, choose 'show rows -> minimise') I haven't tested this properly yet.
B: If you want to explore hiding the Start Menu, feel free, it looks superb when you first do it, but then I have found that the HTC biotouch (spinning cube) automatically re-instates the start menu bar when it's deactivated each time.
C: Please note, this program ( tt2.exe) DOES NOT TOGGLE, even though it's called that! Again, it's a 39 page thread, I warned you...
D: You can also run TT2.exe with a -config option to avoid editing the registry, but this would actually make the above even more long-winded to explain to any n00bs.
E: A nice new HTC wallpaper is doing the rounds without the logo. (As you can see from my screenshot, it's mis-positioned with the extra screen space) See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830
F: Vijay555 has been meaning to release a new (non-alpha) version of the software for some time, but sounds pretty busy. He seems like an all-round splendid guy though and I'd like to thank him for this software and his continued postings/programming.
I have the HTC X7500 WM6 and I've been desperate to make it works.
I've been trying other version from the 40 pages thread, so I'll try this one and I will post result.

Good luck! The honest truth is that after I'd posted this, I discovered a couple of bugs that appeared in soak testing. I gave up in the end - it worked 90% but I would still occasionally get conflict, e.g. the SIP keyboard would appear at the top of the screen sometimes and only a soft reset would put it back where it was meant to be!

Yep I confirm that, SIP keyboard is there, and sometimes as well softkeys stay there after softreset.
Well actually for me it's even worse, it's hiding the system tray (the bar just above the softkeys bar) where we can add shortcuts icons and keep the softkeys bar enabled..
Im disappointed but thks for vijay555 for all the efforts
Perfect... without HTC Logo is even better...
Thanks Carlos,
I've just installed and its working fine. With the clean background from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830 looks even better.
Cheers,

See my original post, have you tried setting TrayVisible=1 in the registry, this should show the system tray.
I followed exactly what u posted, it displayed it correctly the first time, then after soft reset it was displaying only the softkeys bar and hiding the system tray bar
Thks anyway
How does this look on screens BESIDES the today screen? I have used other programs on different WM phones in the past and although the bottom bar disappears on the today screen, it is still on other screens.
Also, can you use the bottom of the screen or is it just dead space? Some of us have moved the HTC Home Plug to the bottom of the page and if it is just dead space, it is going to look bad....

The menu bar is visible on other screens, this behaviour is by design. I cannot see why anybody would want it invisible on other screens, as you normally need those softkeys for menus in most programs!
As far as I know you can use the bottom of the screen, it is not dead space. But why not try it out - it's unlikely to do any harm. You can always delete it from your startup directory to uninstall if you don't want it.

Well it works well so far.....(Not my screen, Neo's screen @ HoFo)
I can't remember if the TrayVisible setting even works - I think it was something I was intending to build in, but never got around to it.
Apologies... I'm kinda programming again, had lots going on, so never finished the app. Sorry for you guys having to use my unfinished piece of cr*p. I'll make it work properly one day!

How did you "move" the HTC Home plugin to the bottom part of the Today-screen without any plugin above it? I searched all over the forums, but I cannot find the answer to this question

Use the HTC Home customizer to "unlock" it. Then you can move it around like normal.
However, it doesn't redraw correctly on the right side if you unlock it, and a scrollbar comes and goes.
i have a other solution!! PCM shrink installe it and your bar remove it s very easier! For become to the original config juste delete the programmz!!
won't stick
Hi..very nice and easy Zip File..just one problem: the toggle won't stick after a soft reset = one has to go into File Explorer..double click the Toggle File and only than the screen is "clean" again.
Any way to make the toggle "stick"?
I have not this problem! I install the cab i going on the explorer and today shrink and clik on after i reboot my pda ans the bar not appear ... You can try put a abbreviated of today skrink in WINdows/started for star the application automatic on windows sartup
the result of the appl:
I have this running at startup on my Tilt, works with screen rotations and everything! And the hard keys are still mapped to calendar and contacts for quick access, awesome.
Many thanks, couldn't stand those useless soft keys before.

looking for a simple finger friendly timer

i am looking for a simple countdown timer for my phone that is finger friendly and easy to read. here is what i have found so far (in the same order as the pics below):
SimpTimer by Fann Software
http://www.fannsoftware.com/PpcSoftMain.html
i have been using SimpTimer since i found it on one of those freeware sites, and it works, but since there are multiple timers on screen its already smaller and more confusing at a glance than what i would like.
Pocket PC Timer by JabSystems
http://www.jabsystems.co.uk/products/pocket-pc-timer/
this one has the right idea, but the arrows are kinda hard to hit with my thumb. based on all the empty space, it seems like a simple layout redesign would make this perfect.
deltaTimer by Christoph
http://www.deltadevelopment.de/users/christoph/deltaTimer/
what i am currently using. while moving the hand of the dial to set the timer (like a kitchen timer) is kind of a "fun" touch, i would rather trade it for something like "+" or "-" buttons and a bigger start/stop button.
finally, the 4th picture is just a crappy mock-up of what i would really like. you touch the top or bottom half of the numbers to go up or down, and there is a nice big start/pause and stop/reset button. it would also match many of the HTC themes floating around here.
Many thanks for this compilation, i was looking too for such a thing !
What i need is -freeware- a countdown and a timer... Like the antic StopTime, by Jonathan Sachs...
http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/
But, it seems that such a product doesn't exist for WM5...
So, i've installed Simple Timers by Fann Software for the countdown (egg are good with only 3.3 minutes cooking ! ), and SinPocketStopWatch for the counter (by seconds or by 1/100 sec)
But, i'm still looking for a combinated product !
Maybe a future evolution of FannSofware...
I use deltatime it´s very nice, i like the analog timer
to bad
Just notice Deltatimer doesn't work when your phone is sleeping/screen is off
I'm using Fizz Alarms it is alarm, counter and stoppwatch with fingerfriendly interface.. but it's not freeware..
ok, Fizz Alarms looks interesting, I will check it out.
In the meantime, I found this in our very own forums:
TouchWatch by lopez1_de
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367333
It is pretty nice, I am actually going to make a couple requests for some tweaks, but it is pretty close to what I want. I wish I knew how to program, since he even posted the source code.
Thanks alot! SimpleTimer is just the thing i was looking for! :-D

Tasks on TF3D home screen?

Hi guys...
Does anyone know if it's possible to add 'Tasks' to the home screen underneath the calendar appointments in TF3D Home Screen? This must be an oversight surely, as for many people (and this device must have a myriad of business users), tasks are just as important as appointments!

I just remapped the left soft key to open my task list in agenda one and works perfectly for me.
Steve
I did the same and posted how to do so for someone asking the same question on this forum a month back.
IMO, the lack of support on TF3D for the tasks program is one of it's biggest downfalls. I always had that option checked on my today screen, so that I could be constantly annoyed by reminders of bills that are due.
I bet this would be fairly easy for a developer with an understanding of the TF3D interface to tackle..
I'd also like to see this, very handy thing to have.
Is somebody presently working on such an application? searching brings up plenty of threads saying it isn't possible at present but unusually for this forum, no indication that an application is in progress.
It would be great thing... for ex clock could be much smaller and then tasks / appointments under that clock... something like agendatoday, but smaller one...
Thanks guys...
Thanks for the replies. And yes, I know I'm a senior member and I always search before posting, but in this case I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. And judging by other users responses, I'm not alone with this one.
Besides that, I don't buy the "can't be done" response. Whenever someone says something can't be done, they're usually interupted by the person doing it!
I purposely left my reply for a couple of weeks to see if anyone could come up with a solution, but alas, it's seems this one really "can't be done" !!
Deleted sorry wrong forum :S
The way I solved this problem is using SecondToday and TodayAgenda in it. I mapped the left softkeys in both TF3D and SecondToday to switch back and forth (SecondToday does this). This way I have TF3D and a second today screen more "business oriented".
Add Homescreen++ to this and you have a digital clock and a data/call counter.
hope this helps

Appointments on the Lockscreen

Hi
Are there any options to show more appointments on the lockscreen than ONE?
One event is a little bit less for a good overview.
Thanks for help.
Hi!
I don't know much about WM 6.5 default lock screen. But I use S2U2 and you can configure it to show several (I guess it's up to 7) appointments in its lock screen.
i mean the HTC Sence Lockscreen:

They know what you mean, which is why they suggested slide2unlock. It's a replacement for the WINDOWS lock screen (not HTC), that does what you ask.
Just to check whether anyone tested the Slide2Unlock application on WM.5 or HD2?
I try to do a search in this forum but it seems that only the old version is available and nobody is developing that application anymore.

My friend told me that he saw some of the HTC Device using the WM6.5 have a better unlock screen than the HD2 or Leo which will show the Number of SMS and Missed Calls details on the lock screen instead of the numbering on the lock button.
Managed to find this program to replace the stock lock and unlock screen, you can display number of SMS, MMS, Emails or Missed Calls instead of the number beside the Lock Icon.

well, s2u2 is nice for XDA Herald, but not for the HD2.
The standard-lockscreen on the HD2 is much pretty nicer than the s2u2 for me.
are there no reg-hacks on xda-developers???
I totally agree with cms. The windows mobile lockscreen is excellent but it only shows one damn appointment! Surely this has got to be possible?

Yeah, I too like the standard lock screen, would be nice if it showed more appointments though.
Not keen on installing S2U2.
Would be amazing if someone modded the lock screen.
I installed S2U2 on my HD2 and agreed on most of the comments. The standard lock screen looks better but is too basic. The S2U2 has all the info I needed but I cannot get rid of the standard windows one so I ended up having 2 unlock screen now which is annoying. Does anyone know how to disable the standard one?

BSB Tweaks does that.
Or Settings>Security>block phone> untick block screen.
But in my opinion s2u2 is better, it shows the sms, mms, email, and tasks that original htc dont
regards
Just as a matter of interest, do you guys who say you don't like S2U2 know you can customise it by putting in your own wallpapers and/or gifs? You can even have the wallpaper change at regular intervals, giving you a fresh look whenever you wish.
So what you can do, if you wish, is to have a wallpaper that closely resembles the standard lock's wallpaper but sat in S2U2. You then get a better lock application with the look you are after.
WB
PS: If you knew all this but still like the standard item then ignore me.
I like the standard lock screen and would very much like more than 1 appt to be shown. I have tried S2u2 but i find it a bit bloated now, it is very capable and works but i just find it too big/bloated.
Is there a way we could tweak the MS lock screen?

Thanks. Interestingly I cannot find the block phone function under Security so I disable it through S2U2.
As it happens I was also fiddling with the latest version of S2U2 yesterday evening. Hadn't used it since I had my TP.
I'm running XannyTech's latest rom and when I use S2U2 as a replacement for the win6.5 lock, my Manila sliding tabs on the bottom slide behind the bottom bar where the softkeys are displayed on.
Anybody seen this before? I seem to remember that there was a little program to correct that but can't find it back.
Tried fiddling with S2U2' settings but disabling bottom and top bar did not help either.
if anybody knows how to correct that, would be great to hear.
ps: when uninstalling S2U2 and soft reset puts the manila sliding tabs back where they should be...
DicE
S2U2 is definitely the way to go if you want to configure the lockscreen to add more calendar entries. But I never got the hang of using the alert bubbles sitting in the bottom right corner of the screen as they were too hard to press with my thumb, one-handed.
I posted in the S2U2 thread about this but the suggestion there was to go back to the original WM lockscreen. Which I did.
I too prefer the standard Lock screen except would love it to show more Calendar items and perhaps Birthdays. The configure page is really limited but better this than someting too bloated for a lock screen.
