hi
i have read many pages and still have no solution on 1.6 android.
how alarm works when screen is black?
is there some alternative alarm program or just must buy another phone for alarm?
when you set an alarm it will ring either it's in sleep mode either not...
Maybe you've killed all tasks with task killer and so clock killed so.. if this is it don't wait
for the alarm to ring.. Watch out what processes you kill.
Cheers
bussekas is correct. If you have Taskiller or similar killer app installed, it seemingly kills off required processes when you put the phone into standby. I had this problem and couldn't figure out which was the offending task that was being killed, so I uninstalled the app and no problems since

..or you just don't kill the clock app
Wasn't killing the clock app but yet Taskiller still killed something that prevented the alarm going off.
if you open the alarm click on the alarm that you have set and press done it's like you've been open again your alarm.. but instead of doing this every time you should watch out for what you kill
I had the Sams probleme, now I'm just useing the app alarm klock from the marked works just fine

Use SystemPanel App, put your clock on the exclude list, and you can kill all the apps you want, and the alarm will still work. At least i do that. Tested and working..
I'm using ATK Free and I added Clock app into the exception list. Now alarms work even on Standby.
I had a similar issue
but all i did was install
audio manager and it worked like a bomb
seems that sometimes the default audio on the tattoo alarm goes down to 0
and just shows the alarm ringing but does not make a sound
after installing this app
it works now an never late for work

I have a huge problem. I am using Phronesis Rom v3. I use alarm clock extreme for alarms but due to some reason it doesn't start at boot automatically and due to which alarm doesn't sound sometimes. Is there any way to make it run at startup. It's ticked to start in 'autostarts' in setting but stll doesn't start at bootup. I have sm n900L.
Tried smart manager>ram>auto run apps?

Alarm clock extreme app doesn't show up there
I have Phronesis Rom V3 too, and a lot of people have problems with smart manager. Including myself.
Try freezing it with Titanium Backup if you don't use it that much, or disable it in settings.
If it doesn't help, look at your battery saving applications (if you have any) like Greenify, Amplify, etc. See if they are stopping your alarm application from running.
Hope it helped
For anyone that understands this app maybe you can help me. So in the mornings when my alarm goes off and I snooze it, for whatever reason after it snoozes and alarms again I cant turn on screen so I suspect its the powernap app causing some issue as when I uninstalled it this didn't happen. My question is what app/services should I have in active standby to prevent this from happening?
I use Google clock no problems.
Add your alarm app to powernap white list

So I have Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (G935F) and I really dislike all the bloatware Samsung puts on their devices.
So I installed Custom ROM to get rid of it. More specifically I installed Efficient ROM which let me choose which apps i want to have on my phone.
Being sick of preinstalled apps I selected all of them to not be installed. Along with default Clock App.
Which at first didn't bother me at all since I could install Google Clock app from the Play Store.
But my problem started when I wanted to use alarm feature. Though app is very well adopted by the system (the alarm icon even appears on the AOD which I did not expect), when I clean all open apps
it also shuts down my clock app. Which is really bothering me since Alarm does not work when app is not running.
I could just leave clock app opened in the apps menu, but it's annoying since I usually close the apps I don't currently use.
So my question is: What can I do to keep Google Clock running in the Background when i close it from recent apps? I have in mind feature that, for example, Facebook app has; that keeps you updated on notification even when you close it.
And that I don't forget to mention... There isn't any option to set Google clock as a default app on the default apps menu in settings.
I really don't want to flash ROM again just because of the stupid clock so if there is any solution I will be very grateful to share it with me.
I would guess use a Root Explorer and change it from a user app to a system app. I'm a Samsung noob, though, so I could be wrong.

OK i figured out that if I disable xposed, app stays opened. Anyone else experienced that issue with having xposed installed? I also find out that it's preventing Hangouts and several other apps to run in background as well, so I can't get any notifications.
You could install xposed (if not already done) and download an app called App Settings. There you can set the app to be permanently running and/or hide it from the recent apps list.
Also, I don't think making it a system app will change anything as system apps, with a few exceptions, can also be closed from the recent apps just like user apps.
Edit: Just read you have xposed already installed. So just do as I said first, this way you can continue using xposed aswell as the clock app.
I have read and tried everything, nothing seems to make the alarm icon in my notification bar go away.. It's driving me CRAZY! Can someone please help?
Delete all your alarms in click app. Doesn't work? Try deleting the data for the clock app under application manager in system settings. Then reboot. Still doesn't fix it. Flash your firmware again or factory reset.

You have no active alarms set up? No scheduled ones?
If I disable my daily scheduled alarm the icon disappears immediately.
I've deleted the alarm app I had and also cleared the cache and data for the regular clock app.. Nothing worked.

Are you sure it's not the stop watch or timer icon from clock app? Maybe you turned that on by mistake? Try a factory reset from settings before flashing firmware. Faster and easier but not as clean.

What "alarm app"? You aren't talking about the built in Samsung alarm clock?
Sounds as if this 3rd party app you installed screwed something up.
Do you have a screenshot of the Samsung alarm clock?
Try setting an alarm through the default Samsung app and see if a different icon pops up or it just stays the same. If it stays the same let the alarm go off then turn it off when it prompts you.

I no longer have a 3rd alarm app, I deleted it. This is a screenshot of the Samsung clock app.

Yeah, it's a weird issue man. We're you using a third party alarm app at some point? Do your alarms still work like normal? Pandora is a infamous app that causes an issue like this, do you have that installed?
Also check through all audio apps like Tunein Radio which could potentially cause this. Also delete any clock or audio related widgets from the home screen.

Yes at one point I was using a 3rd party alarm app. I'll go through all my apps and see if I can find out what's causing it. I'll let you know what I find.

Figured it out! To do list app was the problem. Thanks so much for your help!
I'm getting really annoyed with the fact that all sorts of completely unimportant apps on my phone decide to wake the screen when they have a notification. I am OK with these notifications being on the lock screen, I just don't want it to keep randomly waking up.
I just can't find a setting anywhere to disable this behaviour. Is there anything I can do with root since apparently there is no way to disable this in the standard settings UI?

This is just how sony messages app works. Use a different app for messages to disable it. Samsung does this with their stock messaging app as well and its annoying. Running xposed there are a few tricks to stop it if you wanted to use teh stock messaging app for whatever reason.
It's not the Sony messages app (which I don't use). It's all sorts of low importance apps on my phone. I do want the notifications, but not the screen wake.
The worst offender is the game TwoDots. Every time it notifies me of new things happening in the game, the screen wakes. Even if I ban ALL notifications from the app, it still wakes the screen when it would've notified me (I can tell from logcat). I just wish I could ban all apps other than phone calls from waking the screen.

Never once had any app other than messages do that, Id be uninstalling them immediately lol You can run xposed and gravitybox to fix this though.
I haven't bothered with Xposed since Nougat. Just using Magisk.
Ugh even the Tapatalk app is doing it too.

I really don't know what's going wrong. I don't face any of these issues, with none of my apps, even Sony messaging app works without waking my screen up.
