Has anyone been able to get their x10 on the 3g network? If so, what setting did you use?
Do you have a X10i or X10a? Only X10i can be on 3G T-Mobile in US (and WIND in Canada).
I do. It just automatically detected the t-mobile settings and got 3g.
I have an x10i (from UK) and works perfectly on T-Mobile (USA) 3G
It is an "A." Am I screwed with 3g?
Im afraid you are my friend. You need "i"...time to sell or switch to AT&T...if u sell you still should be able to by the X10i, as long as everything is still new etc
anyone want to buy a phone?

I've tried digging around on my own to figure this out, but I haven't found a solid answer, and I really hope someone will help!
Would I be able to take an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G to Egypt with me and open up a service plan with Vodafone Egypt for local phone and 3G internet?
I hope the answer is simply yes, but here are a few more specific concerns:
1) Is there a difference between being unlocked from HTC and being unlocked from T-Mobile? Are those two separate things? (The one I am looking at says in the description that the unlock code was received and used from HTC, and I just want to make sure that it is really completely unlocked.)
2) Can I stroll into a Vodafone Egypt store with my unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G and buy a plan for local Egyptian phone and 3G internet? In other words, does Vodafone Egypt require one of their official phones, with the Vodafone logo on the top, for them to treat me like a normal customer? (I am going to be in Egypt working as a teacher for the school year, and I would like to take out a contract just like a normal resident for the year if I can.)
3) Will an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G function properly on the Vodafone Egypt network? Are there any technical or software differences between the United States MyTouch 3G and the Vodafone Magic that might pose a problem for phone or 3G use?
4) Now I'm getting greedy, but here's one more question: Will any phone that is technically specified to work in Vodafone Egypt's network (proper band frequency, 3G capable) be eligible for a normal local Egyptian phone and 3G plan from Vodafone Egypt as described above? Or will it only work for phones that are specifically listed as part of Vodafone Egypt's current line-up?
Thank you in advance for your help!

1) No difference, it's either SIM locked or it isn't.
2) Yeah you should be able to get a SIM only plan which is meant for any phone. Only thing is they probably wont have the exact apn settings for the Magic (I don't think Voda sell the Magic in egypt), only generic ones but they will still work.
3) Just find out the bands the MT3G and Vodafone Egypt uses...

Awesome, thanks for the help. Egypt is 3G 2100 so I think I'm good!
I have an x10a and would love to trade for an x10i because im on tmobile and i pay for 3g so this would really help located in socal pm or text currently using different phone 714 622 8573
couldnt understand the reason of changing =)
what do you mean? i been reading around and i found tha x10a has a different radio then x10i and it wont run tmobile 3g network unless i get x10i so thats the reason for the switch. and even if i debrand and flash x10i the radio wont change. that's what i read sorry i'm sort of new to the android thing.
He just want a X10i for the 3G option, because the X10a is not compatible with t-mobile 3G
That is my understanding in just the opposite for AT&T. I have an open/unlocked X10i I purchased in Singapore and when I use it on AT&T I can't get 3g. I think I need an X10a.
The problem is that I travel to Asia alot and it works fine there with 3g and local SIMs.
I'm looking at rerooting, but not sure if it will make a difference and work on AT&T w/3G

i think you might just be better of with the x10a. both the x10i and a have the 2100 band which is what asia uses mostly. and the x10a has 850/1900 which is what AT&T uses
i dont know if you guys are aware of the situation here, your X10a is sim locked to at&t, so unless you can get it unlocked. other wise, the one who traded this phone with you will be stuck with AT&T.

thats good for ya actually, my post was for OP
I'm about to buy a xoom in the US without any contract. I would go for the 3G one (Verizon but without contract). Do you guys think I will be able to use it after unlocking? Do I need to unlock anyway, since it's without contract? Like the ones in Best Buy?
Tks for your inputs.
Cheers
Andrew
i think there should be no problem. I have us wifi xoom.... but one year ago i bought us nexus-one and there was no problem in using the 3g in europe (same freq).
or..maybe you are asking about 'provider sim-lock ' then i dont have an answer... but i believe its doable
Hi,
You can not use 3G from USA in Europe other frequencies and modulation methods, Wifi is okay
I also bought a US 3G (Verizon) model without contract and am using it in South Africa, but wifi only. The Verizion 3G works on the CDMA network whereas AFAIK Europe (as is South Africa) works on the GSM network so 3G is not going to work. The CDMA network works sim free so I'm not even sure if the sim slot is currently active and will probably only be activated for the 4G rollout.
If you buy it without contract there is however no need to unlock it or register it on the Verizon network to use wifi.
Thanks guys. I was thinking the same way as the mobiles are working here very well with EU GSM 3G, but the tab is not for the GSM as there is no phone function. Since I have my nice HTC HD2 with android and 3G, I will be able to share internet to the tab where wifi is not available. And of course the wifi version is much cheaper. Thanks again.
I've just moved to USA from Spain. I have a X10 and I went to Sprint to get a Voice & Data contract.
They said it is not possible because USA's SIM system is incompatible with my XPeria X10
Is that true? I cant use a european phone with an american MNO?
I'm guessing that you have an X10i? (x10a is the North American X10 variant).
Sprint isn't a GSM-SIM carrier. It's a CDMA service that uses a phone's hard coded ESN number, no simple portability option there.
If you want to use your X10i (and take advantage of 3G speeds) you have to pick either:
T-Mobile
T-Mobile ToGo prepaid
Simple Mobile prepaid
Cincinnati Bell Wireless
maybe Straight Talk prepaid?
If you don't mind edge,
AT&T and AT&T prepaid (and maybe some other prepaid companies)
Yes, I have a X10i, so that's the problem with Sprint. I'll choose another company.
Thanks! You helped me a lot
I've just signed up with tmob but my 3G indicator is not showing up? Any ideas what could be wrong. I've turned 3G on and apn settings seem to be fine? I have x10i
Hi, I recently moved to the US from the UK and i decided i would try my best and stick with my trustworthy HD2 for all my phone needs. Does anyone know if it works on AT&T 3G network?
Full disclosure; I have flashed the blackSideSeven v2.04 ROM but the 3G doesn't work, and i am planning to put BTTF 7720 ROM on it.
So, before I do it, is there any radio special radio that i can flash onto it so that i can get full mango with 3G?

Sadly, I'm using AT&T 2G with this device. I'll take that an dmy $19.99/mo unlimited data plan instead of 3.5/4G and $15/mo for 2GB. In April 2011 alone, I did 800GB of data tethering through my Nokia 6700 Classic. There's no way I'm giving up this plan. Wi-fi abounds in Seattle anyway.
att
yeah, back in the day i sold a few telstra hd2 to att customers and other 850 people around the world, chile, canada etc, made some decent cash for a while....
might find a few on ebay if you look !
