Hello everyone this is my first post on these boards and Id like to say after reading a
few posts its nice to see a well rounded forum with nice people.
As you now know I'm really new to the whole PDA cell phone thing. I just order a Wing from ebay:

and I was looking for any tips or guides that could help me out with my first PDA phone.
I've had the Moto V220 and Siemens SK65, so this is a big upgrade for me. Any help
at all would be awesome, I'm looking for tips on how to speed up the phone, free room
and upgrade it to the newest software/firmware. And even some apps or games that can be install on the Wing.

Hello everyone ive just purchased an HTC-HD2 phone and so far i love it
I also have a iphone and i like the look of the htc better.
I know this phone is a little different but can my htc be pimped up lol ie themes.....

This forum is strictly anti warez, you must avoid that subject here.
For free tweaks and mods, you may check the "themes and apps" section, the very first sticky is a great start, but there are many more.
not a great way to introduce yourself to the forum.
the answer is yes it can, but not with help from anyone on here.
most of the apps aren't expensive, and lot of the themes etc are built by people here in their spare time and shared for free (although it's nice to donate every now and then)

you can mention it, although continued speak of warez is likely to get you a ban.
There are various sites on the net where you can get such apps. However, since this is a developers site and a community who likes to support the developers (remember that without developers, you wouldn't have anything for your phone at all...inclusing cracked apps) we would prefer that you didn't talk about it too much.

I can't comment on the warez thing that is unknown territory to me...
But I can reccommend you upgrade your ROM 1.66 - the official release from HTC.
It is the first thing I did when I got mine home...I cannot tell you all the things it updates but I know that I have yet to experience any of the problems people have mentioned in many of the forums that I follow.
And most of all read the hints and tips part of the HD2 forum - it has paid dividens.
And above all stay in touch with this forum - and ask questions...I have yet to not get an answer that helps...

I'm Emre,from Turkey Istanbul.
I have just purchased a HTC HD2 , and it's my first HTC and Windows Mobile phone .. I was using iPhone 2G before and i can say HTC rocks.
I don't know anything about WM , how to install apps , roms , etc.. but i think this forum will help me very well.
I hope you would be happy to answer my questions and versa i can be creative for you.

I had my hd2 for 2 months and i love it. But, im getting very disappointed that it's lacking in apps and community support unlike the andriod and iphone os. I see poplur apps that are available for android and iphone but not wm. i am starting to wish i never got the hd2 and really wish i knew about the evo thats coming out soon.
on top of that i see the phone on ebay has really dropped in price to about £270 ($411)
so is it possible to put android on hd2?

Before you get blasted for making a post and not searching let me give you some advice, Search! There are a LOT of threads about Android on HD2, it's not there yet but it is being worked on. Really, type Android in the search bar and you will see all the threads asking the same thing, good luck

If you used the search functions (like most people) you would find your answer.
If you did this simple thing you would find that at this time, its not yet possible, HTC have the best group of developers on it but are having some trouble with the porting or something.
I'm just a few days away from being able to use my HD2 as a micro-oven

Off: I succeeded in using my HD2 as a condom yesterday! Took me ages to port every bit of information...
On: Let's assume you haven't read the forum rules, thus you wouldn't know about the built in Search function. There`s Google. Why not Google for something (such as "android on hd2")? After all, it`s much easier to type and to read than typing a long post on a board where you need an account and where you need to wait for others to answer your question...

It also really surprised me to see the price of HD2 drop down so quickly. Maybe mostly because not so many people can get on well with HD2, which is the best phone I've ever bought.
Easy on the flaming guys. Im sure he understands now. For all u know, u might just drive someone away from xda with negative thoughts......where as this is one of the most helpful community.
Like yourself I'm a new HD2 owner. I can understand why you might think there's a lack of apps for our device, when devices like the iPhone have 160,000+ apps. However I've found four different GPS nav apps out there (Igo, CoPilot, TomTom and Garmin), an app to make a flashlight out of your camera LEDs, a registry editor, a voice-dialler, a metal detector, a decent file explorer, a media player etc etc etc. The question needs to be asked, how many media players / file explorers / gps apps do you need on your device? For me, one of each is more than enough. Many of the iPhone apps are just double-ups of the same functionality.
After getting my phone I spent the next week on XDA searching for apps, themes, tweaks and games, trying them out and working out what works and what doesnt.
My HD2 is now running and looking mint, and I've got more games than I know what to do with. As the others in this thread have already pointed out, you do need to take the time and use the search function.
As for support, you couldn't be more wrong - it was the emmense wealth of knowledge of XDA-developers that gave me the confidence to buy the HD2. It will take you time to find the info you're looking for in these forums, but the answers are there, and you'll end up with a superior phone to the iPhone if you're prepared to give it a chance.

Greetings all. After using the iPhone for 2yrs and doing all that jailbreaking, unlocking, customer themes, widgets, plists, etc, I've decided to move on.
So, I sold my soul to T-Mobile for the next two years and purchased the HTC HD2 device. Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to post some must have tweaks for a newb like me.
Currently in the process of DL'ing the BsB Tweaks v1.6. Crossing my fingers all goes well. haha
