Greetings all. After using the iPhone for 2yrs and doing all that jailbreaking, unlocking, customer themes, widgets, plists, etc, I've decided to move on.
So, I sold my soul to T-Mobile for the next two years and purchased the HTC HD2 device. Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to post some must have tweaks for a newb like me.
Currently in the process of DL'ing the BsB Tweaks v1.6. Crossing my fingers all goes well. haha
Thanks everyone!

Congratulations and hope you enjoy your new device. And as always, when in doubt - shout. The family here is very supportive.
Thank you N1M1TZ for making me feel right at home!
I look forward to my new adventures with this phone. hehe

Hi everyone and thanks to all the coockers that are working on new beta roms for our Polaris.
I've read all the 3d about the different coockers/release and I can say for me it's not easy to try all of them.
It's also difficoult to stay updated on every release news, fix and so on.
For me would be VERY USEFULL a 3d in which summarize avery release with all the caratheristics, positive and negative fatcs and so on.
What did you think about it?
Bye
HELLO i agree with you..
It's a good idea, but I'm not sure you'll find a quick reply.
The main trouble with the Touch Cruise is it's limited implementation globally. With the only US supporters having to import it, and the high price pretty much everywhere, I've noticed the general Polaris "community" isn't nearly as positive or helpful as the Kaiser thread community is. That doesn't mean EVERYONE is a jerk, but it's frustrating to have come from a device and forum where there were tons of people with a positive attitude, all sharing ideas. Here, it seems like most people just ***** about the device they bought, with only a few people (most in the upgrading forum) looking to make the most of it and improve it.
I've been waiting for someone to release a Diamond rom that would work on the Touch Cruise, simply because I like the analog clock look. But I don't have any real interest to force Office 2007 on myself, as I've used the app and don't see any real improvements over Office 2003. But this post isn't about which version of MS software is best.
Anyway... here's hoping the gurus of this forum stay upbeat, keep up the good work, and someone can "port" the Diamond VGA driver to the qVGA device. On the surface, it seems like a simple idea. But you have to wonder if the video chipset in the Polaris just isn't all that without more horsepower behind it, and maybe a better screen. Maybe that's why the Diamond is the new king of the pile. I'd love to upgrade to it, but just having bought my Polaris in Feb. or so, it will be a LONG time before I can justify ANOTHER new device.
Anyway, my compliments to the masters for all they do, and best wishes to those with a pretty cool phone!
My request is only trying to make an unique post in which all the coders can list their ROMS with the list of apps inlcuded and positive and negavite facts.
So when a new owner of the device came here can choose without loosing his mind in looking for informations in thousands of post.
That's all here....
Bye

its a good idea. but comparing various roms is a full time job and i'm afraid not many people have that kind of time.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=373233 has been around for a while with a list of Roms, I think thats the best you are going to get, it's just updated when it can be as far as I can tell but its came in usefull for me. Not sure if you missed it but it's been on the first page for a while. Unless I've missed the point and it's something else you are after?
The polaris is a good device and I've found help and support on these forums but its still quite new. I upgraded from the XDA Orbit and thats only been out just over a year I think, a lot of people bought in to 18 month contracts and so wont be upgrading for a while. I'd just bare with it and if you are unsure of anything, just ask.
My favourite ROM at the moment is Bepe's just because it's win 6.1, fast an clean then I've modified it to the standard I want by adding apps and tweaks. I've tried other roms but they are all at such early stages of development that a lot of them aren't really practical for day to day use as they can be very flakey. This won't last forever though.
My t9193 hd2 comes in tomorrow, i plan to use it on the att network in new york. i was wondering if you guys could get me started with roms, themes and apps. i'm coming from an iphone 3gs so that in itself should tell you i am completely ignorant to the rom section here, thing looks like a foreign language to me. the seller i bought it from told me its been hard spl which in the iphone community i believe means jailbroken. so which rom and radio flash would suit my phone and network combo best. thanks in advance
ps. sorry its a bit selfish to post my own thread but some of these threads have so many pages to read through.
I'm afraid reading through the threads is the best way to get to know what is possible and what is not. I will give you a head start by suggesting that you read the following:
- Hints & Tip thread on here
- Flow through the Themes & Apps forum. Some very interesting items in there
- The wiki, again has some useful information.
- Check your ROM version and make sure it is the latest from your supplier.
- The ROM tutorials in the Rom Development section
If you need to search for items on here use this...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all
I would spend the first few weeks getting to know your phone thoroughly first BEFORE making changes.
Good luck.

There are tons of threads on software, tweaks, etc... for the HD2.
However, reading through all of them can be time consuming as well as missing more recent updates that can better improve the HD2. Or worse, we may run into errors that we could avoid.
So I am making this thread asking for the HD2 owner gurus who have tried many tweaks, software installs, etc...that make the HD2 powerful, fun, and stable.
Please give use new HD2 owners (and save us some time from making mistakes) of what tweaks that we should do and what programs that we should install to maximize the HD2 potential.
Please provide links to the downloads or thread info if possible. Thanks.
For those HD2 Gurus, what would you have done to your new HD2 now with your knowledge.
make a call or text so its on your insurance
and get Skyfire

It is powerful, fun and stable right out of the box. Seriously, spend time enjoying it as it is. If you rush into throwing software on it then you'll never appreciate your changes.
Get to know the device and then decide what more you want.
been checking the phone out since I got it 6 hours ago.
Still haven't gone through them all...
Skyfire Browser, Omarket, BsB Tweaks, MMtaskmanager should be good to start your journey.
Hello,
I think this question could serve as a guide as well. I am sorry if a question along the same line has been asked, I searched the forum thoroughly to no avail.
Here is my question. I just bought an Atrix (my first ever smartphone) and I am relatively tech-savvy. I would like to know:
- What are the MUSTs for a new Atrix for getting the most out of the phone and optimizing performance, e.g., remove at&t apps, install this app, remove that app, etc..
- What are the SHOULDs ...
- What are the CANs ...
These, of course, are relatively subjective words, and I am sure varies from person to person, but I am willing to listen to anyone's comments.
For example, I have no idea if rooting is a must/should or a can, as I do not know the precise advantages since it's my first ever smartphone.
All your answers are appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Oh well, I used to flash the **** out of my old tilt 2... sleepless nights, sweat, almost bricked it couple of times. I don't have time for that anymore. That's why I choose Atrix over Inspire. I didn't even rooted yet. No need to tether here. Pretty much everything is on the market is enough for me. If you want a toy, or for hobby, I would return it and go for Inspire. If you stll want to keep it, then go to app and development section, you won't get bored.

Grats on ur new Atrix! If you kindly search or browse thru the Atrix section you will find all the sticky & the answer's that previous new owner's have also inquired on.
Give urself a fair amount of time to browse thru the exciting projects & accomplishments that ur fellow Atrix users have shared. I also learned this way and searching thru the threads was very educational.
Good luck & Happy hunting!

I would say that rooting is a must. Motoblur has some nice tricks, such as accessing the Manage Apps page directly from the menu button, but overall, you probably want to be able to freeze all the bloatware with Titanium Backup, and replace the launcher with Launcher Pro or Go Launcher Ex. It'll result in a much smoother running device. You'll probably notice right now that swiping through your home screens is somewhat choppy. This will fix that.
As was mentioned, check out the dev forum. I'm also a new Android user, and it was a lot of help!
Picked up a desire HD. Decided to get away from the apple ecosystem. So i got rid of my iphone 4 and 3gs. Now i have skyrocket and desire HD. Just saying whats up. i've already rooted both phones and flashed several roms. Looking forward to this community.
Welcome, were mostly friendly round here.
Don't be afraid to ask questions & such, just do a quick search first to be sure you don't come across as a n00b, nobody wants that.

roger that.
Hi
I'm pretty new to this myself - not the phone but to rooting and flashing roms. So far its going great, those devs are really doing a good job, it's really sweet with all this activity going on with ICS. I'm on Virtuous Quattro RC1 myself - a few bugs - but really good
If you're too much into gaming then you might miss your iphone 4 a bit but if you like a variety of softwares and tweaks then android is the way. Your best bet would be to check out the ICS roms laying around...
Welcome btw !

I'm very aware of the reason the development forums require 10 posts to post in, but I can't bring myself to post 10 things on topics that don't interest me (well, 9 with this one). How did you guys deal with this?
Remember you don't need 10 posts to PM the developer of a ROM if you have found a bug. Most users now consider the Development section as the "place" to post anything as it gets a little more traffic. You don't need 10 posts to read or download ROMs.
Unless your actively developing/developed something then there should be no reason to post there.
You should read, search & then ask.
My absolute hate is "Thanks" posts. If I see them I will delete them. They do nothing, but "boost" the post count. If you want to say thanks, hit the "Thanks" button. Or Buy them a beer/coffee/other if they have a donation link. Or send them a PM personally thanking them.
