Open youtube video in high quality

Hi, the galaxy s has a beautiful screen and a powerful graphic card. It will be a waste if viewing video in normal or lower quality. However, when loading from youtube, the default video mode is normal quality, and it's quite troublesome to change the mode every time. Anyone knows the way to change the default to high quality?

it will enable a "HQ" button next to the play/pause buttons in the lower right corner of the display.
i think this also enables playing videos in HQ everytime you start playing a video, but I can't test this since I'm waiting for a replacement SGS.

Copy the apk file to your phone and install it with Astro which can be found in the market.

I downloaded Astro to my phone and whent online on this homepage on the phone and tried to open the file directly on my phone.. but it didn`t worked?

If you google youtubehd.apk you'll see a lot of results that suggest people are ripping the EVO 4G's youtube app and putting it on their phones. I'm not the original poster, but will assume that's where this is from before I hear otherwise.
I wish I'd thought of ripping the various apps off my EVO 4G before returning it to Sprint for a refund.

thanks for the reply, but i'm getting the same message.
when i try to launch the file using ASTRO, it says install blocked, and says for security reasons, its set to block installation of apps not sourced in market..

Go to settings then applications -then click unknown sources, should work after that

Well there is the HD button and it's defaulted on HD in JP3 firmware.. That suggest it will be so in the future official release too.

What phone do you have? The Captivate has had that removed from it. You can still install with adb or a sideloader app, I believe.

Just updated the firmware - and still this is needed. Thank you again!
However, it seems to default to normal quality, when on 3g network. I wish I could force it to hd/hq all the time?

Ok i decided to dl the dump from the ace and fiddle fart around with it
so i unzipped the dump and dropped it to my android sd card and then with root explorer i started installing the apk from it
sofar
ive installed
youtube ....much nicer then the old one
dlna middle layer ....installed but unsure how to use
flash 10
music store ....needs vodaphone connection so useless to me
there are a few more things but cant remember will post as i install more

I'd love to have all these features on the HD2, especially the DLNA stuff, offline maps,compass/map integration, the much more organized UI, better youtube app, better camera app,improved GPS UI, etc.

[WP7] ilomilo Doesn't work?

Well I Tried installing apps (Unlocked LEO70, Not activated)
All of the apps installed correctly, but when I install ilomilo it shows up in the games section and when pressed just snaps back into the games section, like it can't boot.
Rise of Glory does the same thing while NFS works correctly and so does everything else I tried.
Any ideas? or maybe someone who tried it and it worked?

I Got the XAP from the Mrkt3 Application, and many others aswell.

WP7 3MktPlace v0.4.zip is not an application for piracy. it allows you to download any of the free apps (trials) from the market place and then transfer to your plone in a xap format.

back on topic, i have ilomilo on my activated HD2 and it works fine. in fact haven't found an app that doesn't.

Many other games aren't working for me as well!

Yes but the program can also unlock/decrypt those trails so they are full which is why the mods said no discussion on this prog/subject. You can have your account disabled for doing so, especially when its previously topic was closed for this reason.
Dont get me wrong the app is great but this just inst the correct forum to be discussing it or asking for help on it.

When installing apps through such means, running xbox live titles is a hit or miss, it's either it works or doesn't, no fix currently and I don't suggest you keep on installing apps so. >.>

All of the Games work perfectly for me. Make sure you have an Activated phone and it should work when downloaded from Marketplace!

When you buy the game/app it is guaranteed to work (in most cases).. but if sideloaded from what ever means... during the process used to unlock it something didn't copy over correctly and that's why for some games it loads up just fine and for others it does not
Everybody knows that if acquiring something that should've been paid for but wasn't is considered steeling and shouldnt be posted... And like things stolen it is a hit or miss (like mentioned before), but if paid for legitimately and it does not work you by all means are allowed to ask for help or just get a refund

Has anyone been able to get Quake 2 on their tablet working? It goes straight back to the homescreen when i go to start it.

I have the same issue.

The 1.8 apk works fine still. You can find them all on the download page. But anything after 1.8 crashes for me also. It will say there is a update but just ignore it. As it wants to install the 1.9x apk file. Thanks

Let me rephrase that. The link takes me to the proper place to download the file, But clicking on the download link gives me a 403 error. I'll give it another shot in a few.
BTW when I install 1.8 it tell me I need to download the demo file but when I attempt to download it, the program says starting download and never does anything else.

Could be getting hammered then. Sorry about that, as i thought you meant the main link.
When you go to the tools, under menu. Where it says download data file. You can hit the drop down arrow and choose from like 60 download sites. Thanks

Is this a game or what? I got fc on 1.9 too installed 1.8, data file and when i start quake it just plays the stuff from the htc video? The screen doesnt respond to anything and i cant play anything?

I have the same problem. It loads up, but I can't seem to control anything.

Thanks for the help guys. I had control issues, but plugging in a keyboard seemed to work, didn't get a chance to try mouse and keyboars though.

[TWEAK] Status Bar Tweak for Game Compatibility

This was made for CM7 A3.5, not sure if it'll work right on other builds.
What this does specifically:
1) It makes the status bar 168 in height.
2) It adds 133 padding to the top of the status bar to align the status bar contents back to the bottom.
What it achieves:
1) 16:9 App Space, if a game was designed to compensate via stretch, scale, etc..., for the status bar. A lot of games do.
2) It makes quite a number of games made specifically for 16:9 tablets have better or functional touch UI's so you can actually play them. Dungen Hunter 2 for example will require this. Majesty: Fantasy Kingdom works better with this. Exitium: Saviors of Vardonia needs this to have a fully functional UI in all menu's etc...
Downside:
1) You will have a huge chunk of black space on your status bar. Maybe someone more bord can go elaborate and write a toggle button for this or something. I'm not there yet. Lmao. & I've gotten used to it, so it's not that ugly anymore. I rather have functionality over pretty until ICS comes out.
Instructions:
Back up your
/system/framework/framework.apk
/system/app/SystemUI.apk
copy provided framework.apk to /system
copy provided SystemUI.apk to /system
change permissions of provided framework.apk to RW-R--R--
change permissions of provided SystemUI.apk to RW-R--R--
move provided framework.apk to /system/framework and overwrite
move provided SystemUI.apk to /system/app and overwrite
dungeon hunter 2 and exitium are the best example of what this tweak makes work.
for dungeon hunter 2: the graphics and touch control graphics are aligned to the bottom of the screen while their respective touch location on the screen is aligned to the top. the offset between touch location and graphic makes the game unplayable.
for exitium: the menus and stuff overlaps, you can't even access your cash account online to grab your free coins for buying the game. a lot of menus are overlapped, armor screens are overlapped, etc... because the aspect ratio the GUI was designed for is 16:9.
Game List that this tweak helps on (more 2 come):
Dungeon Hunter 2 Samsung GP1000 version + must have ChainFire3D and Reduce Texture to 16bit.
Exitium: Saviors of Vardonia
Asphalt 5 Samsung GP1000 version

well, you need ChainFire3D to get some of the gameloft games working.
toggle 16bit textures on. & try the Nvidia and THD plugins.
this is in addition to ChainFire3D. like Dungeon Hunter 2 was unplayable even when working due to the touch positions being displaced from the visual UI. this helps the put the visual UI @ their touch positions.
also, after you purchase the game from gameloft, you'll have to search the net for the Samsung Galaxy P1000 Tablet apk of the game. there's a thread at rootzwiki on game compatibility that gives a lot of info on how to get some of these games working.

well you guys should really post what's wrong with it when you play it if you're gonna ask questions like this. lol. tested, it seems to be working fine.

Ok so when I play asphalt 6 it looks like the borders are cut off. I cant see the whole car or other things around the border. Is this what this will fix? Sry for the newbism.

Sorry. The game loads and you can log in if you actually signed up and the screen is just black and you can hear music. I also went into settings and disabled the status bar when an app wants full screen and this did not fix the game from staying just black and having music.

hmm. im not having this problem. using CM stock A3.5. with ChainFire3D installed but default options only. the initial log in, i had to press hide status bar. then worked fine after that.

Interesting. Maybe I will clean install or something. I tried using chainfire but I am not sure if I am installing the plugins properly. Nothing seems to happen when I try to enable a plugin. Do I need pro?

yeah, works perfectly fine as far as i can tell. i planted crap and got to level 5 so far, working fine. menu's fine on the patched up systemui and framework-res.

Whoa, I tried reinstalling without doing anything different and I am stuck on a "Loading" screen. I've been on it for about 10 minutes. About how long did it take you to get past this screen?
Yeah, the game is stuck on the Loading screen. It should be saying "Downloading content" or something like that. Bummer. Not sure what is going on.
I even uninstalled xron and installed CM 7 3.5 and I am stuck on the "loading" screen.

ok, googled the issue, and read complaints about not being able to connect & apparently the game makers of this game are retarded; this game has an issue, not device specific, where people can't connect to the content servers. & are SOL because the game developer is completely ignoring the issue. some people complained about un-install, then re-install, and bricked the game. so I tried that, and bam! stuck at loading screen like you. lmao! i guess try to make a new account and see if that'll let you in. the first time i tried it was with a new acct. obviously it's a server or major development problem if you can get in with new accounts but can't get in with an already active one.
add: no luck with new account either. maybe it's just random luck to get into the content download server? lmao. sry, i didn't think ahead and titanium back my app data for you & me before i un-installed and re-installed. lol. i guess if someone out there could provide titanium back up data on this apps external data we could just restore that and avoid having to connect to download it.

I get this on Backstab too and don't know how to resolve the issue. Also have a problem with Bejeweled 2, it won't even start to download the 40MB of extra data that is needed just sits there are 0%. Actually the 0% changes to NaN!!
