if u mean the aosp contacts that has the phone dialer in it then yes you can but u cant remove the sense version of phone dialer or htccontacts. they r core for the phone. but if u installl the aosp contacts when u push the phone button then it will give u the option to to pick from either people or contacts and choose contacts and there you go you have the aosp dialer.
hope this helped
Well I am pushing contact.apk and phone .apk from darch. I do get force closes. what should i do from there.

I have found the same thing,I did not have MyFaves on the adp version but I do have it on the JFv1.5 CRB43 US version. Right now I am trying to copy the myfaves odex file and email it to myself from my G1 then email the myfaves.apk file and then try to port it to a Hero Build but everytime I try to send the email my Gmail app freezes. Oh Well...back to the drawing board. I'm also trying to figure out how to port it to the adp version as well.Give me some time.I'll get it figured out.
I prefer the phone without the myfaves, if you want to change just log on to your t-mobile acct and change them there

Hey Fender! Well...some people like using the myFaves. I like using it myself and just having it on my home screen just to use as a quick reference. Some people like it,some don't.I think this guy is trying to find a way to use it still.IDK.Anyways...There's plenty of ways to do it.I just found that I could try to copy the myFaves.apk and odex file using ADB and then I may be able to port it to another Rom.Once again,I'm still working on it but it's coming along very quickly. Thanks for all support!
yeah persoanlly id rather just do it from my phone i hate going on the site to do it so its worth if for me, atm i just have a non adp version i boot up via nandroid to change my myfaves,
so if it eventually can be ported id be a happy camper
So since upgrading to 2.1 I have been messing with a few different things seeing if there is a way to get livewallpapers installed. What I am wondering is there a way currently to get a 2.1 launcher installed on the eris with 2.1 or whatever is needed for the livewallpapers?
I have tried to use the current livewallpapers.apk on the Eris and it will install but I can't find them in the system to use them. I think we will have to port them over to the Eris in order for them to show up in the wallpaper gallery.
you will also need to install livewallpaperpicker along with launcher2.
Forget about installing launcher2 (at least the one from DroidLife), it causes FC loop that you need to pull your battery to get out of.

Yeah! That could be why the launcher is FCing. Try live walls and launcher 2 together. Someone with 2.1! I didn't want to update.

You know what? On second though, I actually have no idea where the Android lockscreen is stored... Silly me. The HTC Lockscreen, however, is stored in /system/app/HtcLockscreen

Its built into the core of the Android system as far as I know. its not an individual program .apk that can be installed or pushed.
I'm not so much concerned with the Launcher as the Lockscreen I really want that and maybe if it was clear that would be dope too but mainly just the 2.1 lockscreen

I don't know which one it is, but the GoogleBits v1.9 for AOSP has the lockscreen in there, don't know which apk it is, but it's in there, I pushed it on an vanillia aosp 2.1 that didn't have a lockscreen once i did, it showed up.
and look around for launcher2.apk which is the nexus one's "home"
sorry don't have time to find them both and link them, but they're in darch's thread somewhere. hopefully that points you guys in the right direction
EDIT: oh forgot, after you push the google bits, remove the htc one and it will revert to the google lockscreen, but only after you push the google one *this is important*
EDIT2: oh agian... do a nandroid backup first
I remember that now I did have that lockscreen when I used that rom but it lacked too many things I needed so I went back to Fresh 1. maybe Noj can chime in on this and lend a hand or does anyone else know how I can get that lockscreen
If its like the one from the Droid you could use lockbot pro

it's really only a issue if your using lwp with it, try the other launcher with lwp
is there a way we can get 5 home screens and use lwp? if you push and use launcher2.apk to the phone and use that for your homescreen, lwp screws up your phone. at the same time, using the regular launcher only gives 3 screens... =/
Hello Everyone,
Im using HTC Desire with AuraxTsense 8.1.1 and ive seen a few roms with the core android contacts app. I tried using mybackup pro to back this app up and install it but it says "application not installed". Do i need to download a .zip and use recovery to install this? where could i get those files from either an .apk or a .zip.
Thanks for any help guys.
i believe the contacts is two apks contacts and contactsprovider. And you cannot get them into a sense rom by merely installing it, theres some wierd issue with it if u try to replace the senseui's contacts with it...
I know what you mean with wanting this, but if you're willing, try a different rom to see what you like at the same time? Something AOSP built. If you search there are ways to adb push the stock contact app which is what you want, but that includes the dialer which you also need if you want the contacts.
If you're willing to experiment, try a different rom. I was on AuraxTSense 8.1.1 also, but the battery drain was totally annoying. So I went to Oxygen and I haven't looked back (and has the contact app which you want). Done 18 hours on my phone today with relatively standard usage and, went down to 32%, amazing tbh.

You can try to flash the "Android_Contacts.zip" file that is found on the mini-site I built for LeeDrOiD's ROMs. I have done so in the past (flashed through recovery) and both the HTC People AND stock Android Contacts seem to co-exist in perfect harmony It simply asks you which you'd like to launch when tapping the "Phone" button for example.
Of course it would be wise to perform a Nandroid backup first just for safety's sake!
Sense should allow all that harmonies in AOSP rom too. why dont they~~
Thanks for all the replys. im gona go try that website now!! ill post how i get on.
ok tried that but just got a load of force close messages before i could even start up the app. is there any .apk on the marketplace that would do this, or even a similar app. I know you can get it on sense cause i had it on one of the sense roms that i use. I just like AuraxTsense because of the power control in the notification area.
well actually i dont understand why do you want the android dialer? Sense dialer is what people want. Well at least i want it it, want it so much but sad it cant be used on AOSP roms.
Cause i love having to click a phone app and having my dialer/contacts/recent calls all in one app and just tabbed on the top. I dont care if its the android dialer but this is the best one ive seen laid out for what i want. Is it possible to get the samsung one or a similar app?
Ricochet I totally agree on that. The standard Android dialer app is way more functional and looks nicer too IMHO. Only thing missing is T9 search. I used Dialer One from the market when I wasnt rooted, however found it to be less snappy then a standard app.

I tried that and it somewhat worked. The dialer comes up but the contacts aren't there. The favorites and call logs are populated though. I'm using an HD rom though so I'm not sure it's the same (RCmixHD)
Tust found "TouchPal Smart Dialer" in the market. The main screen is a mix of HTC with Android Contacts tabs at the top. Gonna try this out to test functionality, but the layout is awesome!
Thanks man, that app is exactly what i wanted.
Hey everyone... I am running CM N. 85; I have always HATED the look of the AOSP dialer. Its old and outdated IMHO.
I have installed Touchpal Dialer which is new on the market. Looks really nice.
The downside is that Touchpal or other dialers like Go Contacts only replace the dialing portion of the phone process. Once I place the call it goes to the AOSP.
Is there any way to replace THAT portion of the calling process? How difficult would it be and is there something out there already I'm not aware of?
AHHH! Seriously.. no one, nothing?
I'm curious about this as well. I really can't stand the AOSP dialer.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
It's open source, so it certainly could be modified. But I don't know if anyone has taken it on yet.
When I first installed a secondary dialer, I backed up the Phone.apk and removed it through TB.
Then my phone instantly went into FC on the increment of about 1 every .25 seconds. It was a challenge to get back to TB, find the backup, restore while acknowledging the constant pop ups...
Yeah, I guess somehow we would have to write the phone.apk into a dialer app, or vice versa. I just absolutely hate the interface, I wish I had the skills.
Thirding this, especially the outdated comment. Really hate the stock AOSP dialer.
Really, the only prob that I had with the aosp (which is severely outdated) was that with the sense dialer you can just start dialing and the names from your contacts come up. Not so with aosp, but while in the dialer, you can hit the search button and easily search for contacts. Quick solution to an annoying problem.
Personally I love the aosp contacts and dialer. I hate the Denver version. Especially the dialer. That dialer on sense make me want to vomit its so ugly.

I don't like Sense either.
I want the full Phone system to look like Touchpal.
I wonder what would happen if I extracted the Phone.apk and the touchpal.apk, replaced all the res in phone with touchpal, zipped and then pushed to Evo.
Seems like that would work right? Basically just theming the entire layout of the phone, right???...

Smali files are decompiled Java files. Tells the app how to work. Pretty much runs the app in simple terms. XML files are layout files tells the app kinda where items go and colors plus other things.
