Iphone OS - Hero, G2 Touch General

Recently a hacker successfully installed Android 1.5 on the Iphone 2G. Is the opposite possible? (Android running Iphone OS)
alpha124

Only Apple knows how to do it. And they won't.
But in theory they could use ANY hardware. But they won't.
Why do you want to run IPhone OS on different hardware in the first place?

because we can?

Always the best reason

If you manage to get ouch-phone OS (if you where to translate "iPhone" phonetically to Swedish you'd get the equivalent to "ouch-phone") running on other hardware than the fruit company's own hardware I'd take my hat off...

same here

I'd like to see someone try! Even maybe an iPhone theme for Sense would be pretty cool, in an ironic way of course.

android is open source, so it's much more adjustable, therefore it's more "easy" to get it to work on the iphone, than the opposite.

yeah I also thought of that, but was kinda hoping it would somehow work.

I'm fairly sure it's possible, but I don't think it's possible to do it with full functionality.

well I would be happy if I can make and receive calls

Even if it is possible I am sure that the OS has a built in check to confirm it is running on their hardware.

I don't know if this counts, but...

aHome + rethemed status bar/notifications + bettercut shortcuts.

Is it as smooth as the I-phone ?

It's as smooth as aHome?
I dunno, I've never used an iPhone. Just like the look of it.

HERO CLONE RUNNING WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5, Check this out, i dont know wether its weird or cool
http://www.wmexperts.com/htc-hero-clone-runs-winmo-weird
The specs on that phone are so low that I wouldn't go anywhere near it.
From working in a phone repairshop i seen phones like this everyday most where nokia , pretty good fakes
According to wm experts they say its made by htc
"The new HTC G3: a clone of the HTC Hero but sporting WM6.5?"
I thought it was a clone, now i am confused lol
its fake, i work on photoshop all day if you look at the offical htc hero images they have a fake lens shaddow all the way down that has been cut and pasted

FAKE
think about design before you speak
yes, i know that the hero G3 clone does not
meet the same caliber of specifications as does
it's htc-designed and built predecessor but
a real phone nerd would appreciate what the design
process is to an engineer...
are you gonna down-rate
a design that is meant to be cheap
on purpose; i mean, come on. stop
being so "hugely" corporate.
i tested and used this phone and
it's actually suberbly designed; stable
and power-saving. no drain. it
eat's very little charge.
given that it depends on which of the "tiger"
manufacturer's we are talking about.
open your eyes a little.
The fact it uses cheap crappy software and relies on the HTC Hero's brand name for marketing isn't at all "corporate" ....
And it uses very little battery because the hardware is hugely inferior (see you're previous point...)
I fully appreciate the design process - so what makes it fair for others to steal someone's design work and sell it on?

Wanting a Tinker Phone. What do you think.

I currently have a Nexus One and will not be replacing it.
what im hoping to find out is what is the best tinker phone around.
im thinking the HD2 is for me because it can run windows 6.5,hope soon to have windows 7 , android, meego, ubuntu and who knows what else.
so what do you think? what is your tinker toy (phone).
My Currnet Tinker toy dont laugh at me but its a Motorola Backflip running 2.1.
I think the HD2 is a good choice, you definitely can play with it a lot, I had one before getting a Nexus but I preferred just having a stable build rather than having to continuously update and find a good build with the HD2.

The HD2 can run Windows Phone 7? I thought like one video was released and a public build was never posted?

Sorry for previous post (now it's edited). I turned off image loading so i didn't see the image. Now i understand the question and no i never saw a g3 like this. I'm not sure if this is a real picture... look at the buttons... they are quite "strange"

You cannot say that for sure.... :/
I'm pretty sure I've seen this one before..
Going to do some research
Dympy.
Its not a G3 for sure, look at the touchwiz and even the interface is not the same.

I agree on that but the outside is all the same.... :/
could it be some indian version of the i5801?
http://www.priceindianow.com/samsung-i5801-galaxy-apollo-india-price/
that is a pre production model, those pictures were probably taken when they were doing a preview of the phone, before it was released to market.
Looks absolutely different. I can see Spare Parts, Java Me, Coverter, Dev Tools apps. These were not there when i bought the phone. Looks like a hybrid phone

Nope.
I have the Indian version......
Interface is definetly different..status bar, "touchwiz"....
And two homebuttons...maybe the one what we use as a home button isnt home button.
I dont get it, why isnt there normal touchwiz, we are using
Maybe it's chinese copy?
Its a prototype of the galaxy3...samsung decided to shed some of those buttons to make it look better and cut costs

[DEV/REQ] Grid Launcher

So, I was very bored, and I made a concept. I'm sure you've all seen GridOS, and I know that you've probably seen many people asking for it. I really wish we could get something like this going on android. I know literally nothing about creating apps (yet) but I wonder if the designer of Launcher 7 would be interested, my concept is basically a 4-way-scrollable version of his existing app. I'd be willing to help with graphics in ANY way.

It would be nice to see grid os, I thought it was built on android? They say they can use android apps so I'm assuming yes we just need to port or *a* port.

Actually, this isn't just a theme. This is a hopeful development thread for a full-fledged home replacement app. I contacted the developer of Launcher 7, and he said that he doesn't have time to work on anything right now. He did say, however, that he was playing around with the idea of a Windows 8 launcher for android, but that this looked much more interesting.
Very interesting idea, actually more interesting than the Win8 layout itself. I haven't got right now time for coding tablet, but if I prototype it again, I'll definitely look at this approach over win8.

Making and selling software is not easy, they've done some things they should not have done.
They've annoyed their userbase with all kinds of weirdness, problems...
They sell it like "your old apps will work" and so the new OS inherits BS code from ... somewhere.
It's because of greed. They need money. Not sure what for, since they didn't use them to make a better OS. Let's say they wasted all the money.
Moving to Linux and Hackintosh. Can sill use Win in a VM no matter which version, the lighter the better.
Theyve actually announced WIn12 which immitates Android more. Which I have spammed them to do since I don't rembeber when.
I am not an optimist for that corp, they will mess up many things as they always do. They don't have what it takes, they are weak.
Windows is a mess.
Anything that gives Gates more money is bad, very bad. Too bad it was Allen that perished and not him.
MS started the cloud crap, now Android is emulating that lame role model. Being the data mining pimps that they are...
