Has anyone figured this out??? - HD2 General

One of my favorite things about the HD2 is the picture and music tab rotation. Has anyone figured out how to enable landscape mode while at the same time keeping the native picture and music rotation format? I've used several landscape mode cabs and tweaks but none so far can do this. Any ideas?

Hey torremitsu. Tell me what you're seeing when the picture and music tabs go into landscape..? I'm not sure what's looking different for you. I'm using the TX_Total_Landscape cab (which I'm sure you've already tried) on a stock ROM, and they look pretty much exactly the same to me (see images below). But, I'm sure I'm just being dense and not getting it lol
Or...are you saying you want everything to rotate into landscape except those two tabs...?

yes that is exactly how it looks with landscape enabled But without land scape enabled there is a totally different animation that i love. I wonder if there is a way to have both landscape enabled as well as keeping the original picture and music animation the same at the same time

wow dude...I'm totally missing something here lol, call me dumb I've played with those tabs in both landscape and portrait, with and without this cab, and I can find/see any visible differences in behavior. What animation is it that you're referring to? I don't know how to retain it in landscape, but I'm dying to figure out exactly what I'm not seeing here. Thanks for bearing with me!

No i COmpletly Get what my dude is saying. with the cabs installed its a snap change, bnut with the native rotation and actually animates a smooth change. and on top of that when in landscape on music tab (cab installed) you cant see the track list, when its native you can see the track list of your albums

Cover flow

I am thinking this dude wants to keep the landscape orientation with the pictures flowing across and the ablum cover flow to be the same. It looks a little different on your screen shots. I think he is wanting to remain like this.
But then again...I could be trippin' I am not so good with the words and putting them together and whatnot!!

LOL ok thanks everybody
I think there must be some different versions at play here or something. When I play with my music and picture tabs, I can't find any differences in the animations or behavior between landscape and portrait mode, it looks the same to me....I've never seen a look like the ones in toreone's screenshots, with or without this cab, no matter if I'm in landscape or portrait. My albums and pictures scroll up and down regardless of the orientation, and with the same animation, speed, everything. I'm also able to see the track listing just fine in landscape (by hitting the "library" soft-button). I'm sure there's just something I'm overlooking lol.
EDIT: or, I'm just thick in the head....let's not overlook that possibility

I found the perfect video that shows what im talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuOvHWoL5bg&feature=fvw

i know what you mean, in landscape it should show albums and scroll left right, but in roms that all tabs are landscaped it continues to show tracks and scroll up down, just sideways.
i don't use the tab player much, else it would annoy me too.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work this out either. If something is tab'd, it becomes a part of Sense and it's Sense that gets rotated, not the "Home Screen" or "Start Screen".

HD2 Landscape Mode in Album?

Hi!
Just recieved my HD2 and being a noob to this device, I presumed that if you flipped the device into landscape, the Album would rotate into landscape mode. Do I have to set anything up on the device to enable this?
Regards,
Alan
Have a look at the wonderful BsB Tweaks app. That has a menu option in there to allow rotation for the app(s) of your choice.
A quick search of the themes and apps section should find it.
I thought the album was already landscape???
I've assumed that he means when you click the "Albums" softkey. I seem to remember having to set mine up to rotate that, but could be wrong.
Albums flops between landcape and portraid whenever I do. I thought it was the deafult action ion both the 1.43 and 1.48 ROM and I haven't fopen anything I can rememebr to change it. This is to do with the arrangement of thumbnails. If the question is really about flipping the pictures in the album to Landscape then that's totally different
What I meant is that in some of the videos I had seen on the HD2, when the guy rotated the device in the album, it went into landscape mode (riverflow or something like that). I think that the music tab did the same....
They don't need setting up - they just work. (They do for me anyway)
That's photos and videos, available from your Home Screen Tabs and not Albums.
Well, I have tried it from the Album tab and the Album application and it does not rotate.....

What do you mean by album tab? Do you mean Photos & Videos?
The tab on the bottom of the screen... with the photo icon.... next to the music tab....

Yeah - that's photos & videos, not albums. #9Just to clear that up )
I take it you're holding the phone upright when you do this?
Sorry to ask that, but it's the only thing I can think of!
When you get into Photos and videos you just twist the phone, don't click on Albums or slideshow. Just in case their was any more confusion.
Thanks guys... I have sorted it.... it works now!

how did you figure it out? what did you do?
How comes pics don't roatate in landscape if you take them in potrait and visa versa? a la the iPhone? I took a picture in potrait and rotated my phone in landscape and nothing happened.

Help on background please?

I just got my tmobile tp2 with the official 6.5 rom installed. First of all I am a noob so I'd prefer to ask than destroy my phone. I didnt like the original tmobile background so i changed it to a picture from my memory card. The question i'd like to ask is how come on the background already on the phone, when you have it in portraint you can see it fully, and when you have it landscape you can see if fully, but when i set one of my pictures to use as the background, i can see it fully in protrait but when in landscape, it doesnt expand to the entire screen but would rather show up as tiles. How do i make it to where it expands like the one they have preinstalled on the phone? where do i go to pic the picture for the landscape mode? thanks in advance

That's about as far as you'll get with the built-in wallpaper changer in WM, it doesn't really give you a lot of options.
However, XDA has it's usual magic bag of tricks to pull out here, and the one you need in this case is called HDWalls, give it a look. Basically, it will let you create wallpapers that are cropped the way you want in landscape mode, as well as ones that will appear on ALL tabs (not just home), and it can even skin the taskbar at the top and the softkey-bar at the bottom, to match your chosen wallpaper. You can also select separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape modes.
It's a lot of fun once you use it once and get used to it, it's not nearly as complicated as it might look. If you have any problems, PM me and I'll help get you pointed in the right direction.
alright! ill give it a try and see how it goes! thanks so much!

Problems getting auto rotate working with out breaking the album and photo tab animtn

i have been using the josskoss roms since tp2..
Im currently using josskoss's 1.7com2 rom
i have an issue and i cant fix it myself.
at one point i had manila fully auto rotating and it wasnt effecting the manila album and photo tabs....meaning...the rotating animation(which is awesome) was working along side with the rest of the tabs auto rotating...ie...messaging tab email tab ect....
i did a hard reset to fix a dif issue and now my phone is having a conflict keeping full manila auto rotate and animations for the album and photo app working together...i can get everything to auto rotate just fine...
BUT then i loose the cool animations on those 2 tabs....i was using to different apps to auto rotate..Bsb tweaks and auto rotate 1.2...and using either one of makes the album and photo app rotate upside down and off screen....
CAN SOMEONE HELP please...thanx in advance.
Give this cab a try, I use it on my stock ROM and it works great without screwing up the music + photo tabs like that. I haven't tried it on the ROM you have, so I can't say if that will cause any issues...just make sure you have the BsB option turned off, and have uninstalled any other rotation tweaks you have installed before running this one

Hmm. The animations still work for me (flipping through albums/pics...), just switched to horizontal instead of vertical..?
when i say animations ...i am talking about the photo tab and the music tab...they have special animations when flipped into landscape...the photos in the photo tab flips and then is swipeable from left to right ..and the music tab is simular.,..it also becomes swipeable from left to right ...not up and down like it usually is when just adding manila to the whitelist thru reg edits...
im trying to figure out if its possible to keep those animations and have the rest of the tabs rotate as well...
is that a better explanation?

I'm on the original stock Tmo ROM (2.10).
Actually, when poking around to confirm that's the cab I'm currently using, I discovered that (I forgot) I'd installed a different one to replace that one I first offered you. Try this one instead, hopefully it'll get you the same thing I see now. Sorry about that, I didn't even remember I'd done that
i had that installed....and no luck...its as if the album tab and photo tab rotate twice...once thru the animation and then another time thru the rotating app...which ever one i use....they all the work the say way pretty much...
im soooooooooooo frustrated ..

If you're sure you removed previous rotation cabs, the only other suggestion I might have is to uninstall BsB and see if that changes the behavior...
Did you try to use BSB tweaks that is in the rom to enable manila rotation? Might have wanted to ask in Josh's thread where we might have be able to help a little sooner.

yea i did post something in joss's thread n noone has commented it in a while...and i have used bsb and that does the same thing...it autorotates everything and by doing so makes photo album and music tab rotate twice..n gives that half backwards screen...all the other rotate apps either do that or do away with the coverflow animations and make the music n album tab animationless like the rest of the tabs...
there has to be away to auto rotate individual tabs or something ..idnno

There's no way to get the homescreen to rotate unless you download launchers such as launcher pro or adw.

hmmm i guess ill have to go with another launcher, thanks!
the captive has the home screen rotation?
When I launch avatar it automatically rotates the screen and then stays that way to display the drm warning. Not really a fix, more of a bug you could take advantage of of you just want it rotated for games. As a real solution I would recommend launcher pro.

How does one benefit from swiping through their home screens in landscape mode?
Another thing that proves people like what they like. I hate my homescreen to rotate. I use LauncherPro and disabled it.
^ that could have been my post exactly.
To each his own, I guess. This really bothered me, so I started using Launcherpro and can't see myself going back...Touchwiz is pretty good, but coming from my G1 running CM6, it made me feel too locked down.

Technically speaking, TouchWiz changes much more than just the launcher and home screen.
Using a custom launcher only overwrites the TouchWiz launcher, it doesn't remove TouchWiz altogether.
Honestly I really like the fact that the home screen does not rotate. It was one thing that used to drive me a little bonkers with some of the G1 builds. Do I flip it left or do I flip it down.
Of course that was just my opinion of course.
Well, for me personally it would be nice if it rotated while I have it sitting on my desk dock. That would be about the only time I would want it to.
HOME screen Rotation
I am running froyo Jpm on the S and I am really missing the HOME screen rotation, Really. And was hoping and hoping with all my heart that someone from xda dev could come up with a home screen rotation fix.. If someone has please point me in the right direction and also one more thing Home Screen rotation Rocks!haha. And it should be there when you wont it.. So please help us home screen rotation Lovers. Thanks
Reason to have landscape.
I have a phone case that has a kickstand allowing for my phone to be set long ways (on its left hand side, so the cable is coming out of the left at the bottom of the phone) because when I stand it up and plug it in it jsut falls over all the time. (The USB cable that came with the phone is REALLY stiff, compared to the MTS3GSlide/Cliq/G1) So it would be really nice if it would go to landscape mode allowing for horizontal scrolling across screens ( I guess that the widgets would also have to be able to handle on the fly the switch betweens[ can that even work?] or be removed) And also have the status bar be across the top (like normal) while it sets sideways. I mean most of the games, video players etc already auto switch to landscape so you can have the width to handle the frames anyway. And so that when my phone is on its side (which is roughly 9 hrs/day minus lunch and smoke breaks) I can still read the stuff properly. I guess that the pulldown on the status bar would also have to work and so on. I wish I knew enough programming to make this happen myself. But that is the ONE biggest thing I miss the most about the G1, landscape homescreens. I'd seriously take that over a lag fix any day.

[Q] Nexus 7 homescreen-does it rotate?

Does the stock nexus 7 home screen rotate like a regular android tab into landscape or portrait, if not then i will need to get a launcher to remedy that problem. Does anybody know if that could be changed to have the homescreen rotate, if it cannot?
It does rotate as usual.

I have gone through every video I could find on youtube and not one of them showed the tablet with its home screen in landscape mode.
This review says it was clearly meant for portrait only because most apps dont rotate. I wonder if all the demo units just had auto rotate turned off?

There's an icon on the notification bar that locks the orientation to portrait or landscape or lets you have it free, most likely the presentation unit had it locked to portrait. Must say it would be weird as heck for a tablet to be made for portrait mode.
Also, awmagawd, the first review has a white version of the Nexus7, love it.

I haven't seen any video showing landscape mode either. But soon enough custom launchers will be updated for JB and the problem will be solved. Nova and apex are updated quite frequently and I would assume they have plans to implement the new Jelly Bean features.
I've read reviewers who've stated that it does NOT rotate the home screens. I suppose they all could have missed the rotation lock, but it could easily be just for apps.

hopefully nova will update by the time that the things gets in all of our hands.

That's an APP rotating, people are talking about the 'launcher'...
I use my tablets in landscape more then portrait, so although I trust all rotatable apps will be fine, it's disjointing to go back to the launcher and have it 90 degrees out..
The Verge said,
One thing that struck me as odd, however, is the fact that the homescreen doesn’t have a landscape view. As in, you cannot turn the tablet to landscape when you’re on the homescreen. It’s actually a bit frustrating when you move from a landscape app back home — and I can’t figure out why Google would have removed this functionality, which was present in Honeycomb.
What I find mostly odd about not having a landscape launcher mode is the fact that the pins on the side for the to be released dock would allow the tablet to be docked in landscape! Perhaps there will be a separate dock launcher?

It will look a little silly sitting in the dock Asus announced today.
I have jellybean installed on my Galaxy Nexus and the homescreen rotates perfectly.
so i don't understand why it wouldn't rotate for them unless autorotate was off.
My TF does it but my Galaxy Nexus never has (and it doesn't on Jelly Bean either). I think it's one of the differences between 'phone mode' and 'tablet mode'.
3rd party hacks can enable homescreen rotating on ICS so it won't stay fixed for long.
Google wants n7 to be used in portrait on the home screen and it does not rotate idk why they did this but its something that can be changed by devs.
