Hi,
I bought a new Mega in Germany, put HardSPL on it and then flashed it with WWE Europe - 1.28.401.4 and it all worked like a charm
So first thx a lot for all your hard work on here!
After I finished making all the setting on the phone and installing some apps I powered it off and put my SIM card in (Vodafone Germany) and when I powered it up with the SIM card in it stuck in some annoying HTC Connection Setup screen and there was no way to use the phone any further as to let that wizard set up my connection settings which I really didn't want to do. (cause this sets up my phone to use web.vodafone.de as access point but in order to use my data plan I have to use wap.vodafone.de).
But since there was no other way (or at least I couldn't find another way lol) to get my phone to work with the SIM card inserted I completed that Connection Setup thing and then removed the connection it added and set up my own one to use wap.vodafone.de instead.
Fortunately the phone didn't use the web AP while it was there so that I wasn't charged and so this is not a major problem right now but I would really like a way to disable / remove / bypass this "forced" Connection Setup for the next time I a have to reflash my Mega or if I just want to insert a different SIM card without having that wizard messing with my settings everytime.
Thanks,
karlmueller

Hey guys...i've just installed onyx 4.7 WM6.1 on my HTC Touch, and it never selects the network when it starts, i have to turn off the phone the cellular radio and turn it on again everytime the phone starts to select the network so any one got answer to this problem please?!
Mmm, this problem is quite unheard off.
Anyway, I have a quick solution for you, go to:
Start -> Settings -> Go to the Personal Tab -> Phone -> Go to Network Tab -> and under Network Selection you might want to set that to manual and select the operator of the network.
Do remember, when you go and roam (Travel Overseas) Make sure you set that back to automatic, so you can connect to other countries networks.
i have made it on manual already and i didnt work either...look i have removed the sim while installing the rom..mayb i should try and install it again with the sim in the mob?!!
mmm, have you tried other operator's sim?
If they can work, means your sim fault.
Vice Versa, if the new sim card dont work, thats most likely your phone's fault?
Have you tried hard-resetting?
well...about that i found what's wrong and i installed 2 different roms and the same problem exists!!
the problem is when the fone starts it doesnt ask me for the pin while it requires the pin 2 start....soo when i enter the pin in the phone setting it runs normaly
so what i've currently done is making it not 2 ask 4 the pin code
but i still dont like that option but i dont know what 2 do?
in the same way when i put my sim in my old fone..it runs normaly and asks me 4 the pin before it starts?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
mayb this's a radio problem?!!!!!!!!! i tried to install the new one 3.39 but i'm still facing the same problem?!!
What pin can that be?
Is it your sim card pin?
Check with your operator if there is a 'PIN Code' locked on your sim card.
yes..the sim card pin!

Yup, call your operator for details.
Your operator is the person who charges you for your monthly bill!
They will guide you through it, just tell them that you lost your PIN code for your sim card.
I'm going to try to downgrade the radio version...but i want 2 be sure if that is ok, and wont destroy anything in my phone
Yup, no problem, its okay to do that.
Whats the problem now
Hi, Just bought my phone yesterday. After unpacking and going through the tutorial, i am not able to use any of the phone features on my HD2.
In the settings menu there is a switch to turn on the phone functions but that seems to freeze and after pressing nothing happened.
Everything else works except the phone features.
Can any one help.
make sure you have the right network provider selected (auto or your provider) maybe trying to connect to the wrong one or since you have not installed anything yet you might as well try a hard reset
Apologies if this comes across as a stupid question but have you put the SIM card in the right way? From memory, it goes in backwards with the clipped corner pointing out.
Sim card old
Thanks for all your help.
I went to ask my provider why my sim card wasn't working and why the phone was running slow and crashing.
The reason why it wouldn't recognize is because the sim card is about 6 years old and it needed updating. The HD2 didn't recognize the old sim card.
It works perfectly now and I am so happy i picked the right phone
Thanks for all your help
Hi,
I'm trying to use my old HTC Touch as a pure PDA and not as a phone, and every time i turn it on it pops up saying sim missing which is driving me insane. Is the way / a registry setting that i can change to disable this in windons mobile 6.1 or 6.5?
Thanks
Would also love to know how this can be done. I'm going to set up my 'old' HTC Touch2 as a standalone GPS device for my parents.
Not a setting but I'm using an old sim card for this. Maybe use a prepaid sim card.

That's indeed one way to do it.
I've been experimenting with the removal of components in the ROM but it seems that as soon as you remove the actual "Phone" components that a lot of issues occur with installation and reboots...
Maybe the only option will be to use a Dummy-Sim card... but I'll try some more
Just turn off phone mode in comm manager. I never get a message that sim is missing when phone's radio is turned off.
just installed wp7 on my hd2 and after the start up my phone keeps searching for the network. have tried automatic network selection and tap to select but no luck. am using 2.15 radio. would appreciate any help.
goto your settings, scroll to cellular, then down to add apn, in the apn box type epc.tmobile.com and leave the rest blank.
this works with tmobile us
isn't that supposed to be only for the data connection? even without entering the apn the phone should be able to find the network for just making voice calls. so mine seems to be a different problem. the phone is simply unable to catch any signals.
from my understanding of the whole cell phone fiasco is the sim card has everything the phone needs to connect your providers tower and also tells your phone what services you have voice, data, etc etc, so it should setup voice automatically. i would try searching for the program (htc connection setup) they use to install the xml files it also sets your phone with the provider.
good luck.

Only search at the internet for your apn settings, enter them and voila you can use your data connection, nothing more nothing less and done in a minute. HTC Connection Setup don't work well but you have to use it later if you want to change phone type to HD7 for the Marketplace ^^)

yeah we covered that part, the concern is that the phone is/was not connecting to the towers
Maybe check out other Radio ROM. 2.15 should work well, but uses more battery.
switched back to winmo 6.5 for a while and the same radio worked fine (caught the signal etc.). Just now again tried to flash wp7 using 2 different radios, that is 2.12 and 2.14. Have already tried 2.15 with my first attempt, but the problem just remains the same.... 'no network found'. any thoughts? have even tried putting in the apn too. no luck
u know its funny cus its the exact same with mine exactley the same ive tried everything and it picks up the signals but it wont let me connect to any network at all... the phone is just fine except that one problem.. plz any body help us with this stupid problem

i was havin the same damn problem, and i just flashed the 2.11.50.26 radio, and boom baby!! instant network connection. no more 3 beeps and disconnection for me now to check battery life and wifi (no 3g in trinidad yet, so u can't test that)
sim lock...???
After trying different radios by flashing and re-flashing, I've noticed something I should mention. My phone dialer shows a sim icon with a lock on the top left of the screen. Does that shed a new light on things?
sim lock ???
hey sameer... I have the very same issue with my HTC HD2. It is unlocked and I am facing the very same issue that you are when I revert to WinMo 6.5 everything works fine with the same radio. I've tried almost every radio now and have no luck. However, the funny thing is that I do see the sim with a lock when I go to my dialer. I suspect the OS is SIM Locked, however, when in WinMo 6.5 every Sim Card is recognized and works properly
Any luck with the issue yet??
Let me know of your thoughts... btw I'm on Ufone's Network.
It's the sim card!
Problem solved for me and hopefully for salmanjavaid too!
I learnt it the harder way though, by which I mean that I spent money to buy an HD7 and after inserting my sim in my brand new HD7..... no signal again! oooops! Only then it occurred to me to try some other sim cards. My network is also Ufone here in Pakistan. So first I tried a Prepaid Ufone sim (the one with white and orange colour and 64K printed on the back)...and Lo and Behold my hd7 gets the signal and network settings and data connection works fine too! Other operators' sim cards like Telenor, Warid and Mobilink worked fine too. But when I insert the sim card which is in my use back again....no signals again! This sim card is a different version, perhaps not 64K and plain black color on the back.
A call to my Personal Customer Service Executive assigned by Ufone sets the next course of action. He'll bring a replacement sim card for me, when I get back home.
My suggestion to salmanjavaid: try other sim cards first. If they work then get a replacement sim card.
Hope it solves your problem too.
id give this a shot. I'm on vacations in Pakistan and have my Sim Card from O2. I will give it a shot tonight Thanks for the suggestion.
Just wondering if anyone knows how I might disable the motoblur sim lock when I change the sim cards in my phone (or at least the requirement to connect to the internet to check the password).
I originally started out with the Australian Optus 2.2 ROM, which allowed me to change SIMs when I went overseas without having to connect and check the password (though I did have to enter it). I'm now running the Brazil 2.3.6 Retail ROM (which is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the old 2.2 version, and seemingly faster and smoother than the community ROMs I've tried). That said, I'm now having issues when I go overseas...
I've just had to use another phone to activate a prepaid simcard and get an internet connection working while I'm on holidays overseas in order to use my own phone. I could have done this perfectly well on my own phone, but it locked me out ("sim card removed or changed") until I could connect to the internet on it. I'm looking to avoid this situation in future as I won't always have a spare phone and/or the ability to get a reasonably priced data plan. Is there any way to disable this "feature" of Motoblur?
For anyone who's wondering, the issue comes about as many prepaid cards are bought empty, and then require a call to activate, load with credit, set up a data plan on etc. Can't do this when the phone is refusing to allow you to do anything until you connect to the internet and reactivate the phone...
