Does it have it?
Some sites say the specs do, some don't mention it!
Can't get a definitive answer on that one!
Also, if it does : where can I get a cable?
Thanks guys!
I haven't tried myself, but the iPhone and iPod video do it through the headphones socket. you can get a cable that takes this and makes it a yellow RCA cable. you could try one of them?

Interesting question.
But where are settings for video output?
I'd be interested if anyone can prove this? Re-settings...if this is possible then there could be 2 options.. 1. you will only see the settings when it's in "video out" mode.. or it's auto detected and there are no additional settings (as per audio output... )!
i'm really hoping for this but i'm guessing SE would advertise it to their benefit, and afaik they didn't so my hopes are kept rather low...
I've had a guy telling me that he can use TV out on his X10, using a microUSB-3.5mm adapter and the TV out cable from an N900.
i haven't been able to find an adapter that has the extra connector for TV out to try it.
I've got a 3.5mm jack going to red/white audio connectors. If I put one into the video part of the tv wil it play video or is it down to how its wired in?

I think X2 uses the 3.5 mm port for video out, and they didn't advertise that.
Yeah, they did. There's a button for it on the keyboard too.
I'm wondering if it has the hardware, but the options aren't there yet, and they might be added along with the HD video recording update.
well it definitely doesn't work at the moment.. just tested it. I have a video and mono audio cable (Yellow and Black).. and also a video with stereo audio cable (Red, white and Yellow)
did you try via the jack or with a 3.5mm adapter?
directly via the jack.. cable was 3.5mm "headphone" style at one end.. and phono at the other.
I tried that with a cable from an N900, doesnt work.
Still trying to find a micro usb to 3.5mm with video.
It seems there are some out there for LG and HTC, it's just getting hold of one to test it!
Hmmm this is interesting..

Just in case... Did you try testing with the Red or White as the video? Some companies have their own way of wiring things so that you have to buy their cables. Most people don't think of just swapping the colours around to get it to work and just fork out for the new cable.
There is a tv-out cable for the droid incredible:

I wonder if this would also work on the X10 and when it will be available.

mbarabas, szerintem a csomagnak nem része a tv kábel, de ne legyen igazam, mert én meg akarom venni a pro-t
mbarabas, according to me for the packet not his part the TV cable, but not be true, because I want to buy it the pro
I'm sure I saw somewhere that it doesn't come in the box. I've just oredered one from Expansys.
Today is the last day of the Modaco offer if you type "http://mickey.modaco.com/expansys/getcode.php?email=" into your browser adding your email address after the "=" it will send you a £10 voucher. You need to order something else to push the price of the cable over £20 so I got a 1GB MicroSD.
So all in that's a the TV out cable and 1GB MicroSD card delivered for £14.19
HTC own website states that its optional, so its highly unlikely you'll get one in the box
My cable has arrived. I'll post the pinout when I get a chance to beep it out.
pin out
These are for the pins as viewed in the plug.
1 video out
5 video ground
2 audio right
6 audio left
11 audio ground
jwitham - thanks, updated first post!
Now does anyone know where you can buy the 11pin ExtUSB plugs from? I only seem to be able to find them on audio adaptors which, I guess, only have 3 wires connected.
I was watching unboxing video, there is not a TV cable in the box

probably a terminator resistor of 50 ohms .. a piece of 50 ohm antenna wire will do fine ..
these cost 25 cents or less
as far as the mini usb .. its probably the same as this one motorola has..
im not sure if motorola sells these or if there are any to buy separatly.
just an idea : maybe one can convert this yellow rca videoplug (which comes standard with any videocard with tv-out) to have a miniusb plug on the other side.

An ExtUSB-3.5mm jack headphone adapter ($5) has the necessary connector.

I dont think it is terminated inside the connector. The detection will be due to the internal termination of the device you connect to eg tv or projetor.

but your headset uses the same connection for his mic... for me a bummer but for you guys maybe the solution....

it's a pinout of the headset...
i just maked one for myself (actual a home made cradle) but it just doesn't reconize the cable, audio and charging works like a charm
Build your own TV Out Cable
OK, I tried to put the pin-out together. I don't have the cable, but I played around with the Multifunction Audio Cable YC A200 which I opened up for that purpose. Only when pins 3 and 5 are connected and not 4, the TP recognizes a video cable and askes for the video norm. When using these pins as ground, there is a humming noise and the video flickers. By connecting these pins with pin A, this problem is solved. I put the info on a figure... could someone with a cable and a multimeter validate it?
I made then a custom cable to work with the Multifunction cable. For this, a 4-pin 3.5 mm plug was worked on with a Dremmel (see figure). The plug needs then to be inserted into the receptacle so that the notch is at the upper left. Just turn the plug till it is no longer identified as headset but as video cable. The extra ground connection I got from a regular mini USB cable. Tested and works without problem...
switch should be connected to mic ground probably.. can you try if this works ?
connect 3 and 5 for video switch
connect audio plug [ ]=== ground - audio right - audio left
4 - 2 - 6
connect video (o) outer 5 inner 1
Hi boys.

Can be the same of Trinity and gps....

I do have the Raphael cable but it doesnt fit
Greets !
A four pole 3.5mm jack into the headphone socket should work. As discussed in another thread, the proprietary usb socket on the HTC only has 4 extra poles, and they carry the audio/tv out.
I had a TP for a short while, but never got to test the TV out feature (they didn't supply the cable), so I don't know if any additional software is needed for it to function... It might be that we have to install some software as well as edit the reg key, or it might just be the reg key, I don't know.
If I can find a 4 pole 3.5mm jack and some phono connectors I might get round to trying it, the 4 pole 3.5mm jack is a longshot though.

On another thread about it, there was the notion that xperia can't have TV-out because they didn't wire it to a port.
TV-out is present in the Qualcomm chip, they just didn't bother to implement it. TV-out on the USB port is out of the question because there aren't enough pins for it. TV-out from the audio jack seems a no-go too, my hopes were for a 4 ring 3.5mm jack but that is already taken for the wired handsfree.

But other devices use the audio/hands feree socket with no problem, they just appear to change the circuit when TV Out is running. The HTC uses the same pins for TV out as it does for audio, it's just a usb connector with 4 extra pins on the other side of the USB pins. Those 4 pins are the ones that carry the audio/hands free *and* the TV Out, just never at the same time.

That's an interesting suggestion. If that's the case then it could work for xperia too if SE bothered to connect the signal to the 4th ring.
As i wrote in another thread discussing this matter, i couldn't get the HTC Video Out application to run on my Xperia.
Hopefully someone here can get it to work. Maybe there's some changes has to be made before it work? (screen resolution maybe?)

I'm almost positive it's not a case of "bothering" as much as HTC wanting the Touch Pro to have its USP (unique selling point) over the Xperia. Otherwise, the Touch Pro has nothing over the X1, which would cut into its sales.
Just a thought
The Nokia N95 has got tv-out through the 3,5mm plug. The extra ring can be used for headsets aswell, so although it is possible that xperia works the same way it'snt probable since SE says there is no tv-out.
Anyone with a n95 tv-out cable?

why is tv out not included with the x1 then>
don't think so...
i found that with a cab, the audio dongle, and an ipod/camcorder cable you can connect your device to an external monitor. since the manufacturer did not have to abide by any iso standards for this proprietary tvout, they can cross the a/v cables any way they wish. It just turns out they went the Apple way, and so the iphone's 3.5mm av cable will work perfectly ($4-5 on amazon).
alternately, if you have the standard 3.5mm camcorder cable, you'll have to switch the colors of the rca plug order, works just fine on the Fuze. Plug in Red to Yellow input, the Yellow to the White input, the White to the Red input. From this Fuze post:

Why go to all the hassle, just buy a TV out cable. Mine cost about £15 which is nothing. It's a fairly simple cable with Video on pin 6 & Video Screen on pin 8. Audio is on 7 & 11 with screen on 5 and 10. The only hassle I have now is antenna for the radio, pin 9. With this pin connected the Rhodium assumes a headset is plugged in and disables TV Out.

Ya have the real deal coming in a few days. Wasnt worth waiting for a potential cab that would work.
I have a differnet question... I have the usb to rca video and 2 rca audio outputs.
When I plug it in it disables the internal speaker and I can not figure out how to get it working without unpluging the a/v cable but I do not want too..
I want to use the T2 with a 3com mini projector and use the speaker in the phone with it.. Anyway to do this, or is there a Video only cable, I looked and did not see on.

Well, the X5 has support for 4 pin headsets (stereo + mic + ground). It will be interesting if the "mic" pin can also put out video then...
In order to support it, the motherboard has to be designed to enable the mic pin for the composite video (and the software to be enabled).
It would be cool but nowadays most TVs have USB / uPNP so it´s easier to connect the USB cable to the TV than to carry a composite (arrgghhh composite...) cable. Also through USB pics are processed as they are, no losses. Through a composite TV-out the signal is converted to a very bad quality analog 576i/480i
I don't think that you can show phone's screen thru USB. But you can with the composite video out
Actually you can. The tv takes your phone as a memory stick

I think I found the solution.
Since my TV is older, it only had 2 HDMI ports. I was using an HDMI switch to give me more ports. Running through the switch gave me picture, but no sound. When I plugged in the cable directly into the TV, it worked perfectly.
I found the solution from a Droid razr owner who had the same issue with an HDMI extender.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-razr-support/214913-no-sound-connecting-hdmi.html#post2176611
There should be more documentation for this kind of thing, but a hunch..
...maybe the hdmi ports have to be arc enabled (1.4a) then only giving audio?
So, mixing and matching cables/connectors/switchers will undoubtedly cause problems.
I'm also having no sound, but display works fine. I have it connected straight to the tv with a standard cable. Any ideas?
