Hi,
I got this hTC Touch, a clone one, as it doesn't recognized by the touch identificator (I found a software that can identify the spl of the phone). I really want to do some wicked tweaks like the original elfin owner does, like flashing the OS, but I really can't do it because the spl is unknown.
Really, you can't differ it from the original ones just by the physical appearance. I realize it is a clone after I can't enter bootloader by camera+reset method. Then I realize (by reading the forum) that my device is a clone.
So, for those who knows, can I flash this phone OS?
If it is possible, how can I do it?
Here are some technical infos:
ROM Ver: 1.11.706.1.B En
CPU: Omap850
RAM: 128
ROM: 256
Any help or tips will be very appreciated,
Thx before,
best regard,
Xue
anyone?????
first off, i have never seen a clone phone but i hope i can be of any use.
I want to rule out the possibility of it actually being a real elfin, as its 128/256. Have you checked internally to see if it is a clone? I'm guessing here but i thi k a clone would be slightly different i terms of components? Have you tried hard reset combiations?
I'm just a little confused as the processor is the same as a genuine elf(in).
In settings, system, device information, what does it say?

I think it's no clone, because there aren't any clones with the same Processor,The same Look, The same specifics, those clones would differ with something of the Real HTC Touch, have you checked/examined every single information about your phone and the HTC Touch like how many Megapixel the HTC Touch and Your phone has etc.?
Try to sync this phone of yours with (Microsoft's) Active Sync 4.5 and then run the software which gathers the device info(phone must be 'fully' connected to your pc, without the Syncing you won't get no information about your phone.)
- Did you get a box when purchasing this phone?
- Did you bought this phone from a Reseller (for e.a online: Ebay) or from a genuine shop?
- Did you got a CD whit your phone, and what 'Sync software' was on it? Microsoft's Active Sync or something different?
I would like to hear more about this issue. PM or post a reply at this topic whenever you want or need to

Sorry for what? Normally it is not necessary to open a new threat for any question that you might have, just join the different threats about a particular subject.
I guess you are new to all this upgrading stuff. First of all, and most important, is to find out whether your device is cid-locked or not. I think that it is safe to say that when you got your device through a telephone provider, like Orange or T-Mobile, at a very cheap price, then the device is locked and you should have it unlocked before flashing any ROM (except the official ones that you can download from your providers site). When you bought your device retail, at the full price (the Artemis is sold around 500 euro's), then the device is not locked.
Upgrading itself can be pretty straightforward: just establish an ActiveSync connection, run the <ROM name>.exe from your pc and follow the instructions on your screen.

Unfortunately, no, not really. On older HTC models you could find out by running the mtty tool, but it doesn't work on the Artemis. I read somewhere that on our device that whole locking (and unlocking) method is quite different than on other models. That is also why it seems so hard to develop a free unlock tool for the Artemis.
The only way you can be absolutely sure is by running the unlock tool from imei-check, but they will charge you for it.
If you just THINK that your device might be unlocked, then I would not recommend to try flashing any other than an official ROM. Of course, it is your choice and you might want to take the risk. That risk is that your phone will become 'bricked' and won't start normally. The only way out of that situation is returning it to the seller to have it restored. Some people with a bricked phone however are able to restore it themselves with the original ROM, so make sure that you have that ROM available. Some original ROMs can be found on the internet, but not all of them.
sorry but you said

Andreazzo,
Your Artemis, does it have a logo on the body. A logo from maybe T-mobile, Orange, Vodafone, O2 or whatever telecom provider?
If yes, the you shouldn't flash your device with v2.00.02 PV for HTC Artemis ( Crossbow Style ), because the chances are that you will brick it.
If your P3300 only has the HTC logo, then it is fully unlocked and you can flash whatever rom (flavor) you want for the Artemis.
So be aware of the fact. The life of your P3300 is in your hands.
This it is not probably true information. This it is not to end rule
My Artemis he had only logo on body. The logo of start take-off was the only HTC also. No trace T Mobile Orange O2 Vodafone. And I have brick. :{
I tried flash by bootloader however still announcement INVALID ID
Follow for voice grun. get rid (remove) CID - will not it be dust brick as I.

Hi there.
I have a P3301 and have been reading a lot of posts os people that has used "PDAMobiz_Dopod_P800W_AKU301_v1.1.2_PowerMap" in Artemis with locked CID.
Can this be possible?
Another question: is really nice to change the original ROM? I get some new features like more speed (without using overclock), and other apps?
Tank you.

Well...
I have a P3301... i´ve just buyed it. Wich ROM is more new and recommended for this device?
I was worried about the ROM wich i asked in first post, because the related posts about that, all were posted in 2007...
We are in final of 2008.... and i have a new device... So i wanted a more recent and complete ROM....
Tanks by the help....
well in my opinion and for WWE ROM try the following:
if you want a rom with manila i highly recomend FlyROM (the one in my segniture)
if you want a clean and best performance try the YuE v11.3 ExtraClean.
and there are other ROMs what i did not tried even they look good like gulloms and T.I.R
hope i was helpful
and remeber to CID UNLOCK your device first
CHEERS
Tanks a lot.
My first atempt wiil be the YuE v11.3 ExtraClean, because i wanna focus in performance. I am in middle of a .NET mobile development, and want to have a faster Smartphone to test my apps.
Tanks by reply... Other thing: CID locked devices really must bu unlocked first right? I tried unlocking by downloading a app that i get in this forum, but he doesn´t works in Windows Vista: doesn´t recognize my device during procedures... Windows Vista uses "Sync Center" and not "Active Sync"... does anyone had this problem using Vista?
Regards,
Tuschinski.
yes if you want to flash any ROM except your device original ROM you have to CID UNLOCK first...
and sorry i don't know how to do it in vista
maybe someone knows
In FlyROM, for example: does it updates just OS, or another features like radio, etc...?
no it doesn't the spl will remain .11 and the radio as it was before flashing
Can you explain to me waht the SPL initals mean?
IPL - Initial Program Loader, a bit like BIOS on a desktop.
SPL - Secondary Program Loader, the bootloader, which starts the OS.
and for the number as you know it's like a version and when it .111 it's unlocked as i know
sorry that is all i can tell cuz i'm not knowing alot about these
Tanks a lot...

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to all this, I bought my HTC Touch ELF0100 HTC P3452 and after a week of use it start showing the Beta test release software massage, I been reading over the forums without any success on how to solve this issue, I can't use my new phone now, please any help would be appreciate it, I forget to mention that I bought it on Ebay and it came from china, I been trying to contact the vendor with no response from his part. Again, please help me or point me to the right direction on my search for a solution of this issue.
Thanks

It might be an unoriginal HTC device.
Take out your battery and check around whether you see a HTC logo, or some other words.
Windows Mobile 6.1 Lock in to Beta Massage
Thanks for replying,
If I take the battery out I can see the HTC logo on the lower right corner of the battery housing.
This maybe relevant or not, but I noticed that when I connect the device to my laptop and try to sync it, a massage pop out saying that the " device is a prototype and remember to change the vendor ID".
Is there any way I can reinstall windows mobile on it. At this time I do not have any information on the device.
Thanks for your help.

Hi
Did you by your device new or seond hand as this message may be displayed after flashing the unbricker test rom
so if it is second hand this device maybe was bricked and you will need to CID unlock and flash a new rom or search for an official rom for it
I buy it on ebay and supposedly was new, when I receive it it work fine but I noticed that the date was wrong and corrected it after that all I can see is the Beta test message when it load windows mobile 6.1.
Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

Make sure you leave negative feedback, so others do not get duped! if you cannot hard reset like normal Touch instructions, it is a Clone Elf or Elfin.. FAKE! Let others know!
the beta thing does not really mean its a fake, just could be installed incorrectly the OS, but if you caanot Hard Reset, that is a sign of a fake..... REPORT, NEG HIM!
Thanks guys,
I just found out that this is a fake ELF, I hard reset it following this link , now it it out of the Beta message, but if I try to correct the date again goes back to the same screen with it.
I know that you guys do not support fake ELF, but can I flash the rom on it to a new one, or does anybody know how to get rid of the message and use to current date and time?.
Thanks for your help.

Usually flashing a genuine HTC rom will brick a unoriginal phone.
You may want to try and there is a thread on it.

See how it goes.
NOT ADVISABLE.
Hello All,
I have had my HTC magic now for 3 days and loving it. However, reading around it seems to be best to leave the factory ROM and use a different one.
I am considering the CyanogenMod.
Firstly, could someone tell me if this ROM is compatible with my phone (current details of the phone are below)
Secondly, could someone advise on how I do it safely (in n00b terms) and what tools I will need on my Laptop to do it.
Current Firmware: Android 1.5
Build Number: CRC24
Phone: HTC Magic
Provider: Vodafone
Thanks in advance
I should add its the "With Google" model if that makes any difference.
Try reding "unlockr" page for my touch 3G or Saphire which is same a Magic by vodafone. 32B Chip.
Tool you will need is called Android SDK latest.
Also you will need to make sure that your Wnidows OS finds the phone and installs correct drivers. That should be done before anything else.
Once understood you will root and flash your magic in less than 10 mins!
Hi everybody!
First of all i want to apologize for my bad grammar, englis is not my native..
I have a friend who's got an old pc pocket 2003SE. He asked me if i can install other language in it.
i have actually mannaged to do this but the problem is, when the battary runs out of power, the device erases every installed app on it, including the lang app.
So i thought about the option of installing a brand new OS with the lang i want build in it. Is this even possible?
Ill be grateful for any piece of info about it
I'm afraid I can't give you the final answer, but I can point out some places where you need to give more information to make it possible anyone to help you.
I think your English is clear enough, but for anyone to give you useful help, they would need to know the make and model of the device you are working on? Installations of PocketPC are adapted by the manufacturers for each of their models. Also, what method are you using to install the new language. I can't imagine why all your apps disappear, the make and model might give a clue. And, with that information, you should be able to ask your question in the appropriate sub-forum.
Prior to WM5, (WM2003SE and older) programs not installed on a memory card and user data were actually installed into the RAM. There was a backup battery to power the RAM when the main battery failed so that user programs, etc were not lost. But as these devices get older the backup battery may not hold a charge so when the main battery runs out of juice the RAM is wiped.
What is the model? It may be able to be upgraded. My old Dell Axim x50 came with 2003SE but it had an official upgrade to WM5 and unofficial WM 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs.

There was also a ROM partition and the memory card, but I don't think you'd have that option with user system data like extra languages that the OP mentioned. It's been a while since I used 2003SE so I could be wrong.
I forgot to mention that there is no manufacturer sign in any part of the device.. probably generic. The model writen under the battary is PH20A2.
Idk what it belongs, maybe you have a good guess
TY for all the help, i appreciate it

If the device has a small battery, separate from the main battery, then replacing that small (backup) battery with a fresh full battery could solve your problem?
