What's the HD2 Equiv from android hardware wise? - HD2 General

I'm wanting a phone that's got the power (if not more) than the HD2 had but using the Android OS. I've had two of these phones so far and the mms issue is really, really annoying amongst other things people have already mentioned but I'm not going to do that.
Aesthetically speaking the phone was phenomenal as well as its hardware, software wise it just felt on its face for me.
Anyhow any suggestions for things that are coming out that a tmobile USA customer could use I would appreciate it or something that's sort of identical to the HD2 just in android form.

Closest non HTC I have seen running Android hardware wise, is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.
Same Snapdragon 1ghz and similar ram setup. Also very sleek and similar design.
I have one of them too, tbh I do prefer the HD2. winmo 6 isnt as bad as previous versions and the HD2 comes with sense. With a few tweaks its doing far more than my X10.
Anyhow, not sure if its available in the US, but I cant see why not.
Hope this helps,
Sp4wn

uh the evo on sprint ius nearly identical hardware with android...how are you on xda and don't know this?

Evo 4G is pretty much identical to the HD2 and it runs Android with sense(has 8mp camera in the back, front facing camera, and hdmi mini out). It's coming out this summer (June i think), but it's for sprint so you'd have to change carriers.
At this time, you're not going to find anything more powerful than HD2, since all it's components are max of what's out there atm.

I don't make it a habit of frequenting all the other boards all the time and I'm with tmobile USA so I get even more limited with what phones they have to offer and I'm not a huge fan of spending 500+ for a phone if I can help it..
As for the evo, thank you very much - that sounds like something I would be completely interested in going for.
If the Hd2 ends up getting some updates that make sense stop crashing I'd be all over it.

HD2 or Incredible

Well after my ATT Razr finally ave up the ghost last week I ended up getting an HD2 T-Mobile. My first smart phone so I have no experience to compare Winmo/Android/Iphone.
First off I LOVE the large screen and sleek form factor of this phone. It is pleasure for me just to look at it and hold in my hand. Also the sense UI is very nice and thanks to XDA I have this thing tweaked nicely with Cookie's Home Tab, tetherings, etc. It might even be better if I flach the ROM.
That said I do seem to get a lot of freezes and crashes. Also with T-mo I am on Edge a lot and never was with ATT. I have an Incredible that will be waiting for me at Verizon on Thursday but I am a bit conflicted about giving up the HD2. I'm hoping for some feedback from more experienced smart phone users on this forum. some pros and cons for me:
Incredible runs Android. I guess this is the big one. May be more stable, more apps to download, etc.s. Maybe a much better user experienced.
love the big screen on HD2 (but I guess3.7 aint shabby)
Better network with Verizon but a bit more money
HD2 is quad band world phone.
OLED screen on Incredible is supposed to suck in daylight and the HD2 may be something I can use better outdoors. I guess the battery life is better with OLED but I would rather carry a spare battery and be able to see the thing on the street.
I have until Friday (2 more days) to return my HD2 so your feedback is appreciated.
Thanks................Marc
Return the HD2, get the incredible, if you dont like it, return that and get the HD2 again!
or just play with one in the shops. we arent gonna be living with the phone, you are, and so what I may like may not be what you like
That said, I want the Incredible, cos i wanna experience android, but I like the HD2 aswell! I cant have both, and since the incredible isnt coming to the uk, i guess thats my decision made for me!
U can put an Android system to HD2..and prolly U can also put a WM to Incredible
personally Ive got an HD2, but Id love to have the incredible..but for now its only for states 4g stuff..but really..before the Incredible got out..HD2 was the best phone on the planet earth..IMO
Android to the HD2 is far off in the future if at all.

Was probabaly the Touch HD, not the HD2
I think that HD2 was not much ruined by Tmobile installing their software on it... I have seen lots of poeple complaining about HTC Andorid based devices with Verizon - Droid and Eris... I simply cannot believe HTC would want something like that on the market. Droid is 5 times worse than my old HTC Wizard (MDA)...
Don't get me wrong - android is somewhat of a good concept and good OS - but sweet lord can branding of the carrier can ruin the phone...
I am actually pretty happy with how Tmobile kept HD2 up to speed with the manufacturer unlocked device - side by side - more memory for Tmobile HD2 and only downside is "Tmobile" sign on it - everything else seems to be same - meaning Tmobile did not ruin it... Verizon or AT&T including Tmobile would ruin the phone terribly ...
Example - AT&T ruined Nokia E71 - they castrated Nokia out of 99% of all the guts and presented it in the worse possible way - just to promote iPhone... I had E71 and it is not easily replacable... Even with HD2 I had to give up some very useful things that I am researching and slowly getting on HD2...
LOVE HD2 - go for it you won't make a mistake...
Incredible is only 3.7 inch screen where the evo4 is 4.3
Both android. Evo is bang on the same as the HD2 but android.
Still waiting for detailed specs to see bands supported.

off the top of my head, evo has an updated snapdragon (i.e. the model after sorta thing but still 1ghz), better camera (8mp i think), hdmi out and 720p recording i thinkkk. so evo is a bit better than the hd2!

I don't think evo has an "updated" snapdragon. It just has the CMDA version and not the GSM. So I wouldn't expect any real differences there.
But otherwise, evo should be the updated HD2.
I think hardware vise it ends up like so:
1) EVO
2) Incredible
3) HD2
However, HD2 vs Incredible is a question of screen size. Furthermore, you still have to look at software and carrier. In the end it all comes down to the user and then it's 'to each their own.'
Incredible = Verizon = CDMA = skip!
Not that T-Mo has much of a network...

HD2 & HTC Evo one of the same ??

OK guys would i be wrong in saying ( The evo is just a updated hd2 running android )
If it is then do you think HTC would make a firmware update so you could just flash the phone over to run android.
If you look at the clip's on youtube it looks like the same unite just with a 8mp cam hdmi port and a ugly back
yeah it is. i think it has more internal memory too and touch sensitive front buttons(i think). HTC could make an update but im pretty sure they wont as they are EXTREMELY slow when updating firmwares (look at the hero) and thats an android device.
ok well maybe the good guys on the site will sort it out

They look similar, but that is all. They are completely different devices. The screen size is the same, but they use different touch sensors. The Evo roms will not work on the HD2... too much different hardware.

The hardware is pretty much the same, it´s the software that is the problem.
Sooner or later Android will be running on the HD2.

hehe, its listening to rumours that made loads of people believe they had been promised win7/android updates by HTC and MS, and that they DESERVED free upgrades, which then made them start talking about sueing them, (lol, some people, if they had double the brains they'd have two brain cells)
HTC said they will release an android rom when WM outsells the iphone, so get buying boys!!
if u think about it the hd2 and the evo 4g are like identical brothers but not twins.... now i think htc created the evo because android os is on the rising. plus i think the hd2 is much sexier when we r talking about hardware.... software can be put on any device so all im waiting for is the port. only thing evo has over the hd2 is the compatibility of using 4g service n android os, plus there was a test that was ran with sprints 4g vs t-mobile hspa network and t-mobile higher network speeds than sprints 4g...so who ever went to from t-mobile to sprint just for the 4g service just wasted money. if u think about it htc just made a lot of money creating 2 devices using different os. one thing i do hate about the hd2 software;1) wm uses too much mem for one dam app, 2) wm is tremendously outdated with their framework.

[CLOSED/G2/POLL] Thoughts after HTC announcement

So what do people think now? I am personally swayed to buy the Desire Z, but I would like to see what other people think.
Having watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly4C0TXmnlQ, I am pretty impressed by htcsense.com (for the off days that I forget my phone!). The maps app isn't really that smooth...the demo showed it being quite laggy on the Desire HD.
Build quality is great, performance seems smooth, keyboard looks fantastic (no numbers row though =[ ) and the screen looks crisp.
edit: maybe I should have also posted on the Desire HD forum! =P
Bye windows hello android
well im selling my TP2 no more windows for me and putting the rest with my pocket as well for the desire Z. i had doubts but after listening to that guy brag how the phone is... im sold. lol.
i also have a TP2,but i am going to keep it,however i want this phone, i looks sexy and thin, and it has htc sense

i've been fed up with windows mobile for about a year now with my HTC Blackstone...it's simply too old and dated an OS. And WinPho & is simply too locked down and not as flexible as I'd like it to be (I'm so sick of those tiles!).
Android looks like the way to me...and *if* I do want to load up my phone with something bloated and pretty, then I will use the HTC Sense bundled in with that phone...which is tons better than the HTC Sense on Windows Mobile.
The Desire Z looked great to me. Perfect size, build quality is on point, gorgeous keyboard, and very fast. I hope the G2 is the same color as the Desire Z, the G2 looks a bit lighter from the renders on T-Mobile's site.
The Desire HD was a bit of a let down to me. First off, it's not HD. A 4.3 inch screen needs a better resolution than 800x480. The colors on the screen look incredibly washed out compared to the Desire Z. Also is it true that the HD only has a 1250mAh battery?!
Can't wait to get the G2. Goodbye Vibrant.

Looks like HTC have pulled that video off their Youtube account. I wonder why
I am eager to see how the MSM7230 800MHz performs compared to the 1GHz Snapdragon that sits in my Nexus currently. But I already know I will be pre-ordering the Desire Z ASAP. I have been waiting for a high-end qwerty Android phone from HTC for so long. Cant believe its finally here, and its *almost* everything I wanted..
I am a bit annoyed at HTC though, because they have a tendency to do this. The Desire HD has a great unibody construction which gives the phone that extreme high-end feel to it, while the Desire Z is left with a combination of aluminium and plastic finish. Why, I don't know. Also wish they would have put some aluminium love on the keyboard as well, but at least the keyboard looks good otherwise.
Those are probably my only concerns regarding the Desire Z (that, and the lame name). I hope the Z mechanism lasts as well though and wont get sluggish over time.
Anyway, its as close to perfect for me as any other phone has ever been so Im picking it up anyways. Just wish HTC would stop holding back when launching new phones. If the MSM7230 800MHz performs well then Im relieved, but if not then I will be mad at HTC for not going for the 1GHz version instead. The MSM7230 has the Adeno 205 GPU, but since Android doesn't support GPU acceleration I guess we wont get much joy from it.
Now Im just waiting for pre-orders here to show up!

is GPU acceleration something that modders can address? also, I'm curious what the GPU does when its not being utilized for acceleration. isn't the very definition of a GPU that its a graphics accelerator? is it that Android uses it for some things like games and video, but not others, like scrolling and webpage rendering?
also, rumor has it that Android 3.0 will implement graphics acceleration, so for a good portion of the time you have your G2 you should enjoy said acceleration (for the record, yes I believe the G2 will be definitely be upgradeable to Gingerbread)

Haha same here. This is the qwerty device I've been waiting for!
After I watched the videos I actually got the impression the Desire Z had better build quality than the Desire HD did. I didn't see any brushed aluminum on the HD but it's all over the Z. Reporters even said that most of the Desire Z is made of metal (aluminum) and looks amazing. The HD looked just like the Evo 4G to me, which feels sturdy in hand, but doesn't have that fancy brushed aluminum finish to it.

Well, regardless of what you think you see, the HD is unibody (meaning its body is made out of one piece of aluminium) and the front is largely made out of glass...
Of course Im basing all this on what Ive heard and seen rather than my personal experience as I havent touched any of these yet. The Desire Z is made out of aluminium and plastic, while the z-hinge is supposedly made out of some sort of metal.. according to a HTC spokesperson, some kind of strong alloy. So at least it seems they have done a good job with that mechanism which is great news, as the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 tends to get jerky after a while!
I am basically sold on the G2 at this point. I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 6 years. A year ago I never would have thought of leaving...but in the last 6 months, I have been running all the Donut/Eclair/Froyo builds on my aging HTC Vogue (KUDOS to DZO, Myn, Incubus26jc and the whole Android Vogue group, their work is amazing) and even an imperfect Donut is better than WinMo. Running their modded ROMS has sold me on stock Android.
Not at all interested in WinPho 7...it looks lame and locked up. I was going to stick with Verizon, but kluging Bing on the Fascinate was the last straw. Any carrier that would do that does not care about Android at all...or their customers. Sense is the only UI I'd consider using...but even Sense is losing steam. Gingerbread is going to blow it away, I think.
At any rate...Tmo seems the only carrier interested in delivering the pure Android experience. They have better plans...and this new phone is going to be amazing, with lots of dev support.
I'm sold...goodbye Verizon.
If you think about it the new sense w/landscape is already developed for Desire Z so it should be a quick port and we would have the new sense and stock. I like to switch back and forth and the keyboard and HSPA+ are very tempting.
My thoughts after the announcement is I want an HTC Desire HD.

Good choice. The G2 is definitely going to bring attention to T-Mobile. I think people are getting tired of all these Touchwiz/Motorblur phones and want Stock android. Like you said it seems that only T-Mobile cares about this. Verizon only cares about money and exploits Android to fill their pockets.

lol well, make no mistake, t-mobile cares just as much about making money as verizon does. they're just trying to carve out a niche in the market for "with google." that's their selling point for the G2. verizon's selling point is their network, which I think we can all agree is the best (in terms of coverage). they don't need to exploit a niche market because they're super mainstream, so they have the luxury of adding even more to their bottom line by making deals with companies like microsoft, i.e. the Bing deal
seems that the Desire Z and HD haven't won over everybody...but it is still quite popular (this is the Desire Z forum afterall)...I was thinking of buying it on the play.com website...but does anyone know if they do free shipping to Australia?

don't be to sure of verizon's network being that great - a) the more users on a network, the slower the network and that is the down side to verizon's network - they sell that network too well. But b) as far as coverage, don't underestimate Tmo's network or partnership carriers. Every year i travel with a couple of partner company reps to visit suppliers & clients in upstate Vermont (2 miles south of the canadian border), northwest texas, new mexico & oklahoma. One is with verizon & the other on AT&T (yeah i know AT&T is weak), but whenever we're somewhere rural, the verizon phone drops all bars while my tmo still has 1-2 - leaving Derby, VT and heading south, we're talking a 90 - 100 mile stretch that's pretty desolate going into low foothills - but the last time, my verizon buddy had to use my phone to finish a 20 minute call.
we've gone thru this 3 years running, whether we're in VT, New Mex, Tx or Oklahoma and every year he comments he needs to look at Tmo for his company. While Tmo may not own the entire network, they've been smart in partnering with a lot of the small carriers.

[Q] What to get after HD2...

Hi all
I was just wondering if you can share any comments what smartphone have best apps in 2011.
What you will buy after HD2 ?
thanks
This is a question thats on my mind at the minute as well.
The main problem for me is that Ive become so used to the 4.3" screen that I really dont think I could handle using a phone with a screen of less than 4".
Im currently torn between the DHD, Nexus S, Incredible S, Desire S or the Sensation.
Im seriously thinking about waiting until June for the sensation, my concern is the battery though. HTC seem to be pretty lax when it comes to getting optimal battery life from a phone, the sensation with its dual core and new sense (which will probably be even more of a memory hog than the old sense) is going to tear the arse out of any battery.
Theres also the issue of how long its going to take to acheive root / s-off.... (Im very impatient and will not be able to put up with sense for that long, I really dont like the android version for some reason.)
DHD, obviously very similar to the HD2 with a good amount of development going on. However, poor battery life and the age of the device put me off a little. When I upgrade I'm going to have that phone for 18 months so I feel like I should probably go for a evice thats as new as possible.
Nexus, the only thing really putting me off is the fact that its made of nasty looking shiny plastic and doesnt feel as solid as the HD2. Also not a huge selection of custom ROMS for it from what I can see, compared to some devices.
So errr yeah... lol
Well I would recommend you to watch the latest updates at MIX 11 about WP7 Mango update I think you will like it a lot. And now that DFT is bringing Custom SPL to WP7 Source: Twitter (CotullaCode)
I think Android is great, it opens many doors specially for people on XDA, but the thing is. I always think android is missing the experience. It's not fun, and it's just an OS with apps. I will use Android till the end of my contract... And when the time comes I definitely get a WP7 device. Of course an 4.3"(+) screen. Once you get a fridge phone always a fridge phone Personally I'm waiting for Nokia to join the WP7 party, I know Nokia has the best and trustworthy hardware for their phones.
I just took Nexus S, actually looks not bad but screen is noticeably smaller. I did it because I wanted to resell my HD2 while still in warranty and Samsung are offering very good discounts on the SNS in France (it costs less than the Galaxy!). When Sensation comes out and price calms down I'll resell the SNS to get that marvel. Sadly, I'm hugely missing HTC Sense...
seriously even i am kinna confused i i say i want desirehd its been already ported to hd2 & so also nexus...i hope htc comes out dual core hd2...so we can start the fun all over again i know its not possible!
But ATM its just hd2 for me!
I think HTC EVO 3D will be my next phone after HD2 TMOUS

Sadly I totaly disagree with your Nokia statement - they have lost the plot in high end phones over the last couple of years.
The N8 is a software nightmare, as was the 5800 and that range of phones.
Their new mid range phone C7 - C5 have software issues.
This is not just my view I work it Mobile technical support. Nokia are no longer the top manufacturer - they do not rate the top 5 now. Use Google and read the comments from their CEO, he says about the same!
Incredible is my next phone - if my provider supply it
I think that Iphone 4 is superior for the touch screen and for the smoothness of system...Nevertheless I'm waiting for new devices of Htc like Sensation or evo 3d to make a choice...
Samsung Galaxy S 2 anyone?
I've been wondering this too. I just bought an HD2, but of course, the phone is a year old already, and smartphones are now getting 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and dual core processors.
Before long, the HD2 is going to be out of date.
Personally, the most attractive aspect of the HD2 to me is how incredibly hackable it is. If I were to upgrade, I would hope whatever phone I upgrade to would have several OSes available to use too (as opposed to just several derivatives of the same OS).

The HD7 is a minor temptation, but after playing with a Mozart I found that there is no connecting to a hidden network, or as a mass storage device. A shame as everything else is very nice in WP7.
So I am keeping my eye out for hot deals on HD2's
Edit: Forgot about the non-removeable/expandable storage in WP7 (I have 32Gb in my HD2)
probably getting sensation for daily driver but will be saving this HD2 because its superphone over anything, probably ever because of OS possibilities.
If there doesnt come any other better phones than sensation I will be getting it when it releases.

this or the htc sensation, im tempted to save the money and buy an s2 with the tegra 2 chip. It seems like tegra 2 will be widely supported and it'll have games optimised for it also it may lead to the phone being cracked faster.
For me there realy isnt any phone that beats HD2 (still). Im a WM6.1 ,WM6.5.x fanboy. the only hing that I miss at HD2 is harwware keyboard. but other then that it still is the perfect phone in my opinion. I never oliked phones that you get bored of quickly. HD2 has alot of development going on xda. you can have numerous OSes running on it. It never gets boring. I probably will not change my phone before there is realy something special (no, galaxy S 2 isnt special enough ).
At the moment I'm still torn between different OS's(ssssss). I've been warming to WinPho 7, but after reading over on Pocket Now about some of the things that might STILL be missing even after the Mango update later this year, I don't think I can wait. http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-7-mango-the-missing-features No smart dialing, no flash support in the browser? What on earth are Microsoft doing?
Having said I can't wait for Microsoft to get their act together, if I could stick a super LCD in my HD2 and a better camera sensor, I would happily keep it for another year or two until quad core chips are out and are selling at reasonable money.
The Sensation will be such a rip-off SIM-free here in the UK this summer I couldn't bring myself to buy one; there'll be much better and more efficient hardware out by the end of '11, beginning '12 ; )
G2x
Stock Android
Tegra Dual Core
4g
Supports a WIDE range of spectrums and supports ATT 3g along with T-Mobile's 4g and 3g
All screen and no keyboard.
It's literally future proof (since ATT will be eating Tmobile soon)
The SGS2 looks better than the Sensation in terms of specs?

[Q] [4 July] [DISC] Is there any phone as sweet as the HD2?

Well my Hermes is getting a little old and I'm shopping for a new phone. The HD2 seems extremely awesome. I love that I could always fall back to WM6.5 if WP7 and Android don't suit me. It seems this phone is also quite common so with a little patience I should be able to find one at a price I want to pay. The only thing that I'm not crazy about it the lack of a hard keyboard. I see that there is a Toshiba K01/IS02 with a hard keyboard that also has a capacitive screen even though it shipped with WM6.5 but it seems to be a rare and undeveloped phone.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other WM6.5/WP7 phones besides the HD2?
I think no atm,
I too was not keen on no hardware keyboard but ended up getting a T-Mob HD2 because the price was right.
All I can say is typing on screen is far faster than any HTC hardware keyboard I have tried & you can use a mini hardware keyboard via BlueTooth if required.
All in all the lack of hardware keyboard was a step forward for my typing experience ...
For the criteria you are asking HD2 is the best. This is the best dual OS phone out there. And I agree with previous post that screen keyboard is way better. My prevois phone was TyTyn II but I think I like sceen keyboard more than hard keyboard. It just takes a little time to get use to typing on the screen. I am really happy with HD2 and I can not think of the better phone for now that does not cost more than 300 euro and have such features. But the choice is yours. Good luck.

Wait a sec. No video out? What the dip?

Indeed that was a big mistake from HTC ... The flagship model at the time with no video out ! between that & the selected battery capacity some HTC designers & market researchers should of been shot ...
Well I'm not sure about w7 but the HTC touch pro 2 can run Android & w6.5..(a bit laggy though & very outdated) & also has tv out I believe. It's been sometime since I've owed it so I can't remember. I text (up 2) 4000 texts each month & Im coming from the mytouch slide which has a keyboard....I have 2 say I really dont miss it. I will admit it took me a good few days b4 I could text as fast as any of my old phones that had a keyboard.
Personally I would suggest to buy a phone that has good development that way you won't be left in the dark. Going from the tp2 to the mytouch was horrible bc I had a phone that was well developed & then went 2 a phone that was slim pickins 2 mod it.

The Desire HD is sort of like an upgraded HD2. I hear that a lot of devs are also working on it.
I was just like the OP, really excited that I could fall back on to WM6.5 if I didn't like Android or WP7. Then I moved to Android and never looked back.
I do admit the HD2 is a beastly device, I can't think of any other device that is nearly as hackable... the HD2 runs WM6.5, WP7 and Android all basically as if those were all natively supported.
Still though, it will soon be 2 whole years since the HD2 was announced. I personally had one for 18 months before buying a Galaxy SII. The HD2 looks pretty modern on paper... 4.3" screen, Snapdragon processor... but next to a truly modern phone like the GSII the HD2 looks clearly dated.
I put WP7 on the HD2 but it's not really my cup of tea. I also tried going back to WM6.5 but after a year with Android I found it laughably slow and clunky. So I may end up selling the HD2, though it would be by far the hardest device I've ever parted with.
I don't really know what to tell the OP. The HD2 is a hell of a phone and can run the newest versions of WP7, but when you set it next to a newer, official WP7 device you will see the differences. If you don't already own an HD2 I'd advise getting a WP7 phone, maybe one with a better screen than the HD2 has got... unless you really have a need to still be running WinMo 6.5.
wildfire dipped in honey+chocolate sauce is sweet !!
Love the hd2. Got it for it's support of tzone grandfathered plans on 3g. Wm6.5 is a joke. I could not believe how amazing the phone was after removing that dead weight of an os.

I am too trying to upgrade my HD2. I am thinking of Nexus one. It seems similar in many ways to HD2, but will have a better battery life. My plan is to: sell HD2 + $50 = Brand new Nexus one.
I was also thinking of Moto Defy...

I'd recommend looking at a Nexus S... a bit plastic, but the Nexus One is long in the tooth now, in terms of hardware.
Wow thanks for all the input today, Guys! I discovered a couple more things today that are going to affect my phone purchase. The first thing is that the T-Mobile branded HD2 does not support the 850 band and I am an AT&T user so not only would I not get 3G on it, but AT&T generally sends me angry emails when I use like a gig of data while "roaming" on T-Mobile's towers.
I doubt I'm going to be able to get an HD2 that does HSDPA850 at a bargain price so I checked out my upgrade options through AT&T. I am considering the following phones which I can get practically free, and here's my thoughts on each from most to least likely to be my next phone.
Samsung Focus - I've played with this phone at the store and it has the nicest looking screen by far of the three AT&T branded WP7 phones. Looks nice (except no video out). Everyone posting ITT has given me some faith in on-capacitive-screen keyboards and I must have had to work on my Hermes a million times because of the slide mechanism damaging, or more often just twisting the ribbon cable. I guess the only doubt that I have in my heart about this phone is that it's a WP7 only phone and I don't believe in WP7 largely because it's not backwards compatible with any of my WM6.5 apps. It boggles my mind that someone asked why I would want WM compatibility after I have spent nine years using it.
HTC Inspire - Seems like a pretty solid Android phone, and one of only two Android phones in the price range I want to pay (although still $50 more than the Focus). Video out only through DLNA
iPhone 3g 8gb - I think we all know everything we need to know about this animal. It's solid, spare parts are plentiful, and it's extensively developed. I just hate Apple. I don't want to have to install iTunes on my computer and so forth. Still may be my choice purely for resale value.
LG Quantum - Ditto most of the Samsung Focus opinion. Noticeably poorer screen (smaller and backlit LCD vs OLED), but does have a hardware keyboard and is the form factor I am accustomed to from the last six years with Wizard and Hermes. I guess Focus or HD2 would just feel like Wallaby in my pocket though.
Samsung Solstice II - Basically what the Quantum is to the Focus, the Solstice is to the Inspire in the Android arena. Smaller, poorer screen in exchange for a slide out keyboard. DLNA compatible though.
Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi - Seem like decent phones but a little too cute for me. Plus I have even greater misgivings about Palm's WebOS than I do about WP7.
Sony Ericcson Vivaz - I carried an Ngage for a while switching back and forth with Wallaby. There seemed to be a lot of development for Symbian back then and it was stable. Probably not the thing to discuss on this forum though..
Anyway, hopefully I'm not derailing my own thread too much or getting it off the topic of the section I posted it in but I appreciate all the replies and would love to hear what everyone thinks. Deciding which phone to get can be a real brain drain! And what's up with hardly anything having video out? My friend's Evo has a freakin' HDMI port right on it!
