Hi I am trying to create my own custom rom using the ROM Kitchen. I was wondering if anyone new where I could get a copy of the base Android Email APK as opposed to the HTC version.
Also if anyone knew if it has any other apks it requires as a dependency.

hi guys,
Just wondered if anyone had an apk for the stock Android keyboard, dialler & contacts?
Was using an early FroYo rom for a day or two and I prefer the stock android ones compared to HTC ones.
Thanks!
Has no-one got any of these by any chance?
Thanks

Take any stock rom and unzip it and you have the apk...
Does anyone have a copy of this? Is there any chance it would work on a vanilla based rom?

Unzipping any De-Odex'd ROM would reveal the HTC Mail app, HtcMail.apk or something along those lines in /system/app.
No idea if it would work on AOSP.
I unlocked the Aria (AT&T), rooted the phone and installed Froyo. Everything works fine with the exception that I lost some apps (quickoffice) that I do not know how to re-install it and that i cannot open any emailed appointments (.vcs or .ics).
What am i doing wrong, if anything?

for the most part htc apps are proprietary to sense and therefore htc products
I am not sure about the .vcs or .ics support but if you want to get the quickoffice app back you will need a nandroid backup or possibly the original att rom from HTC website And a program like unyaffs to extracted the proper *.apk file. Its pretty easy really. Once you have the .img file opened up with unyaffs you can look in /system/? for the app. Sorry cant remember the exact path at the moment.
Besides this I am sure there is a nice app in the market that would do what you want.

Neither could I but I opened an email with an excel sheet and I was able to open the file and look at it, don't see quickoffice in the apps sections but it seems it's in there.
Ok I have pritty much got a working android build using the nexus one build, but it doesn't have sense. I am looking for a compatable build for the hd2 that has sense does anybody have any images that I can download?
Also now that I can create the build I would like to change the ROM version number from HTC HD2 to GhostXSeries. I can see other people have done it but I am not sure what file to change.
Cheers
Can anybody help with this?

Look for this in the build.prop
ro.modversion=
Add whatever you like, and it will show in settings / about phone / mod version.
As for the image, can't help u there.

If i simply modify the build.prop file and then manually create the ext2 file by using the genext2fs command is that enough?
Yes. Its enough.

It's not something I can just write here, and then you perform it.
You will need linux knowledge. Porting means a lot of errors. You will need to look at logcat and fix errors.
Check out this site:
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/index.php
Download the rom.
Download a stable rom already for the hd2.
Remove driver files from the stable rom and put into rom you're porting.
Also you will probably have to rewrite the build.prop file to use the drivers you copied.
Rezip the rom your porting and test.
This is the most basic steps. I'm considering writing a guide on compiling and porting but I'm not sure yet.
Hope this helps some.

Whre those drivers are located at?
Um, this is from memory but
Their located inside the system folder.
Their like lights.so etc.. I can't tell you alot without actually looking at it, my memory is failing me.

First of all thank for the help,
this what i already tried before i opened this thread..
i took an HD2 stable rom (2.3.3 sense 2.1) and deleted all apps in system/app/*
also i deleted customize folder, fonts, and framwork
and copy all the above from the desire rom (also 2.3.3 sense2.1)
so all i changed is apps, framework, fonts, and customize.
tried to boot and it stack on the kernel logo
any idea if i did right or wrong?
p.s sorry for the bad English, im working on it
