Hi
All is in the title: my wife's spv m600's battery never charges when battery has been completely discharged; in other words, it is like dead (no light, no charge etc). But with a new battery, it works again. All batteries are then charging well except if it happens once that they are fully discharged. I have already bought 4 batteries in 8 monthes. Can it be the chargers, not sending enough current ? (300 or 500 mA, while 1A is written on the back of the phone).
Many thanks in advance if some of you gets any idea!

yeah.. actually it's charger issue.. when the battery is completed depleted.. u'll need at least 1 A charger to recharge the battery..
another way u can try to jump start the battery by using 9 Volt battery..
I have had my S2 for about 4 weeks now. The internet at home conked out so I have been using the the wifi sharing feature on the phone a lot - like 4-5 hours each day for the last ten days, and since this feature eats up battery real phast, its been sitting on the charger for most of that time, and then some more.
Now since the last two days, the phone doesnt charge anymore. In fact it drains battery whilst connected to the charger. The battery lasts about 2-3 hours now with moderate usage. I managed to get it to full charge when it was switched off and charged overnight for 6 hours. I've attached the results after that full charge
This is after the phone was plugged in for about 20 minutes. If you notice on the right side, the battery is draining while its plugged in!!!! The big drop was reading and sending a few emails, reading some news etc.
I installed some battery monitor apps from the market and they showed the battery being in good health. Any suggestions ?
Try recalibirating it..
let it run down completely and full charge ( don't use when charging) then use until almost dead again ( don not use charger in between) and full charge again.
Seee if that helps or go get a new battery :/
So after a bit more testing, I notice the phone charges at a normal rate when its switched of.
However when its running, then it doesn't charge at all, and over time drains battery, but does drain slower that it would if its not charging.
So one of two options
a) Battery's charge capacity is severely depleted, and is not able to hold much charge. However this battery is less than 4 weeks old~
b) There is something that is absolutely devouring the battery. (screen is what shows up us having used 60% of the battery)
If its battery, will it be covered under warranty? If its something else, how do i fix it. I'm still on 2.3.3 but this seems a bit extreme for the AOS or WIFI bug.

So thats pretty much what ended up happening, it died completely, had to charge it overnight to full charge...and still only lasted a couple of hours.
My guess is that the constant load on the battery running a hotspot has hooped it. Might get warranty support if you don't disclose how you were "abusing" the battery.
Cheap temporary solution is to buy a set of cheap knockoff batteries from Ebay, less cheap is to spring for a genuine Samsung unit. Long term solution is to get your home internet working again.
First step would be to backup all data and factory reset .
That fails i would return under warranty .

Just an update - I removed all the widgets from the home screens and its actually charging now I had the AP widget, the stock price, accuweather, a few widgetdroids, flashlight, photo frame, espn news, touchdown calendar and pulse.
Its not even a month old... and runs pretty damn hot as it is, I dont want to take a chance by using a cheap battery. If i have to, I'll buy an original.
But as far as abusing the battery - its should not be any different than running your laptop plugged into the charger at all times right - how is that beyond normal usage?
After it charges up fully, lets see how long the battery lasts in this 'lite' mode.
Just an update. I'm not sure if was the recalibration suggested by tfn, or removing all the widgets, but i went from losing full charge in 2 hours to losing charge at a rate of 2% per hour under heavy usage!
This is crazy - i think those widgets are taking up way more battery than we think.
To full chagne the battery, need more than 10 hours. Tried different ROMs, Batteries, changers, cables. the same result.
It looks like a hardware issue...... but....
when I used a DC power supplier(5.2V, limit to 1A) and plug in the cable, it appears the DC current is 0.5A, and after 10 second, fall down to 0.1A. at least, in the first 10secend the hardware worked all right...
Do you use the original OEM charger ?
Have you tried a different charger ?
How old is your Note ? Have you tested a different battery too ?

I was quite surprised when I switched to the Note from the Dell Steak. My old phone would charge much quicker. The Note takes about six hours to fully charge I'd say. As a result I plug it in pretty much whenever I can.
- - Sent from my phone using technological wizardry
Yeah, Mine can take around 5+ hours too if im charging it from <5%
Bear in mind that it is a bigger than normal battery, 2500mah.
But if it is like you say, Taking 10+hours to charge, Id get it looked at, Maybe send it off for repair or something.

Isn't it bad to constantly charge your phone even when it still has battery?
I heard it reduces the battery's life span.
I dont believe it is, I often charge mine even when its got plenty of juice left.
It may reduce life span, But the battery will live longer than the time you will own the phone so i guess it dont matter
No one can help. feel bad.
I saw sevral links saying same problem, but no solutions... poor us...

From what I've read, it's what you're supposed to do with the current generation of batteries. But then there's so much crap floating about about batteries it gets hard to figure out what is reliable info.
And this is with the original charger? If it's not an official charger, there's a big chance the phone will draw only what's usually allowed across USB. Which isn't much... In fact, with USB, the power draw of GPS/screen on/games can make your phone discharge even with the charger on. So try the official charger, on AC power.
Same problem...
I have the same problem.
At the beginning, about 3 months ago, my SGN works fine, battery are charged to 100% in 2 hours maximum.
I'm buy the phone from a Samsung Store, all accessories are originals. Today I send my phone to the technical assistance and there's no problem with battery or the charger.
My problem stars about 3 weeks, with an alert about different voltages after a full charge, the problem was solved only removing the battery and waiting an hour. At the technical assistance, the answer was to charge the phone when it's shutdown.
I already try that, format the cache, rebuild the system, everything using the ICS LQ3 from Baltic.

Is the problme solved after remove the battery for 1 hour?
paddyzou, the problem with the wrongs voltages, yes, my steps to solve this:
- Full discharge
- Shutdown of the phone
- Remove the battery for 1 hour
- Full charge with the phone hang out
The problem with the low charge I think that was okay, it's seen to be happen in random times, I just flash another LQ3(France) version of ICS yesterday and seems to be working fine.

This is correct, a chemical reaction takes place while the battery is discharging and is reversed when charging(changing). The chemistry of the battery changes how they hold energy. The Lithium ion batteries in our phones can be charged any time, they have no "memory" characteristics like previous rechargeable batteries (NiCd).
OP, it sounds like your charger is going. My stock HTC charger (2-3 years old) now only charges at about 40% the speed, which means the phone will discharge while its plugged in. I recommend grabbing one of those tiny square usb chargers (1A 5v, not 0.5A). I got one for like $6, as long as its 1A it will be quick.
I have two months from the S4 and I noticed recently that the phone after plugging in the charger charges up to 100% and never stops charging.
After 1-2 hours, the phone is warm but still indicates that this is charging.
After disconnecting the charger in a few minutes the charge status of the battery drops to 80% and later is "normal", the phone works for a few days.
I tried the charger from HTC, Xperia Z but still the same problem.
In S3 there was no such problem.
He met someone with something like that?
Clean your usb port. Probably it got wet somehow.

Well now that you've charged it with a different kind of charger that may have less or more required power rating, time for a new battery... But for your situation you needed a new one anyway if it was doing that. My S2 did the same thing (replaced it with a new battery now it's running normal). But yeah never use a different charger unless it has the same power rating or whatever its called. Since your S4 is only two months old claim it under warranty and get a new one.
Other chargers tested just as soon as you notice problems with charging the.
Before taking the warranty will test a different battery.
A new battery will cost less than anything related to the warranty...
fter many wipe on the original firmware looks as if the problem is gone.
But change the firmware to another, such as Omega causing the problem comes back: (
Hello there !
Recently I've changed battery (previous battery's condition was terrible) on my Nexus 4, according to guy who sold me battery it's original (it look the same like the old one). Sadly after changing it my phone is acting weird. For example I charged it to 100% , I unpluged my charger and in few second it changed from 100 % to ~70 %. Then it was behaving OK, according to battery options my Nexus had enough battery to live for next 3 days ,after 1 or 2 days battery died. Few minutes earlier i charged it (LED diode was green , phone was turned off) ,updated my CM via recovery and after turning on it had only 59 % battery. Currently I'm using my Nexus without SIM card.
Is it phone issue or I should just contact with the guy who sold be this battery and ask for refund/new one ?
That is weird about the battery. How much was the battery? I think oem batteries are around $25?
Yep, 20-25$
In this case, I would ask for a replacement.
