Hi, i do belive both have diffrent connectors. I think the tmob is easier to replace as the cable does not require any soildering.

Wow! This is amazing. Thank you so much for the info! This should explain why we can't just swap the screen from the euro for a US version! Thanks!
the 9193 has the same digitizer as the 8525. The type that has to be soldered on.
the Tmo US version has a digitizer that is the same size, but different connection. A latch terminal.
If you get the 8525 LCM unit (LCD+Digitizer), we BELIEVE it will fit in the Tmo US housing. But nobody has done it. But you cannot swap Just digitizer for digitizer, it has to be the whole LCM unit.

I have a Vikuiti screen protector for my t-mo us HD2, and it's slightly shorter than the glass front of my HD2, so I'm pretty sure the T-moUS HD2 digitizer is a little taller than the t8585 & 9193 models. So it may fit in the Tmous housing, but there might be a little gap. I don't think the US models digitizer would fit in the 8585's housing though. But that's just going by how the euro screen protector fits on the tmous screen, so i may be wrong.
Here is the evidence that you may be able to swap them.

Is the digitizer the glass part, or is it separate from the glass? If so, the digitizer probably fits... it's the glass part that I think that has a small size difference.
thanks guys.... now i have to manage to soldered on the terminal... :s
mmmm .... I'm already scared!!!...
can't find a video tutorial just to replace the glass digitizer... any advise?
cya!
Many just say "digitizer" when they really mean the fuzed together unit of the digitizer and glass.
With that said. The 9193 and 8525 come with a soldered terminal version of the digitizer and lcd. The Tmobile US version has a latch terminal digitizer and lcd.
The solder job is a simple one if you have that version. Use a small razor to cut the adhesive between the digitizer and LCD, someone else said they used some sort of string, regardless the digitizer is held on by a weak adhesive and is only around the edges. Make sure not to cut the flex cable while doing this.
AFTER I separated the LCD from digitizer, then I de soldered terminal.
THANKS for the tip FloatHeavy.... I'll try that... did you took pictures by a chance of the procedure?... could be very usefull...

Looking at the service manual, the screen and bezel can not be seperated, so i guess it is gonna be expensive i.e if you want to replace the bezel you will also get a new screen.
Suggest people ensure their phone is covered by insurance!
so do you think its easy to replace the screen and metal frame?
I am really considering to buy a dummy htc hd but before I do I just want make sure that if it is easy to do by myself

A dummy htc hd will probably not have a real screen and looking at the service manual, there appears to be no option to detach the screen from the bezel, however this comment is just based on observation and hopefully someone that has taken one apart can confirm.
I saw a discussion on the forum somewhere that the cost of a new screen was almost half the cost of the touch HD itself due to the fact that the bezel had to be replaced at the same time.
Thanks for the manual...
So... can anyone confirm the N. America frequencies that are listed in the manual on page 5?? Does this de-bunk the HTC twitter message??
Thanks for share!
Thanks at lot

I managed to detach the screen from the bezel, but it really was a hard peace of work. You have to stick a thin peace of plastic between the screen an the bezel and lever the display. You should be very careful due to the lcd display and the digitizer are glued together and you might get between the digitizer and the display and destroy it that way. The other thing you should'nt do is lervering the display on the bottom (where the usb connector is) due to the flatcable is located there and you will destroy it with the plastic tool.

Did you manage to remov ethe antenna cover like in the manual? I don't seem to be able to remove it.

Yes I did without destroying it, but I needed special tools. I used a very thin peace of metal. On page 20 from the dissembling manuel you can see the two square holes where the antenna cover is attached to the body.
Just go on and try it but be careful not to brake the little plastic clamps.

"Required easy video or photo tutorial.

If i remember correctly there is a photo tutorial on some blog.
no it's not easy, yes you have to disassemble your phone, no i wouldn't bother trying if i have no clue about how the whole thing is set up.
repairing charges are about 170-200€ ~250$.
I haven't done it yet myself, my screen is alsoo cracked, but it seems very tricky. However, you have to disassemble the HD2 befor you can reach the screen. Also, you have to place the LCD part in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes at 50C degrees to let the glue get loose, because the screen is glued on. And even the digitizer is glued onto the lcd. So, even if you manages just to remove the digitizer, you still have to find a way how to glue it back to each other, without making a mess.
I have already disassembled my HD2 with succes. I am going to HK anyway, so I going to buy replacement LCD + Digitizer and bring my HD2 with so I can fix it right there and check if everything works ok aigain.
If so, I xan ditch the iPhone. I hate it.
I've replaced the digitizer from my Samsung Omnia i900 and it turned out to be very easy, following the instructions I found on the internet and YouTube. I guess it's the same for the HD2.
Is the digitzer and glass surface seperable?
Because i can see what looks like a thin layer of glass from the bits of glass which has fallen off on the bottom corner where it took the hit. Or am i just looking at the edge of hte LCD screen?
And since the screen still responds as per norm.

Hi, thanks for these videos,, very detailed!
Have you got any idea about what she means by 'paste'? Is she just saying to connect A > B or is there some kind of adhesive needed? Also, have you got any links to buy some Mylar, OR do you think I could get away with reusing the ones removed?
By the way, I am going to try and replace the digitalizer in my HD2!
Thanks in advance!
There are 2 types of touch screen digitizers for HD2, you have to make sure you buy the right one. One needs to be soldered to the LCD flex, another plugs in. If you have a plug-in setup - you are in luck, if not - best to be left to professional, as it involves fine flex soldering.
Attaching the digitizer itself to the front housing is similar to that of Nexus and similar devices - 3M sticky double-sided tape is perfect, there is a 2mm one in a large flat roll sold everywhere.
Those who suggested the digitizer and LCD are fused together - wrong. Capacitive digitizers do not adhere to LCD and are attached to the housing itself with a free gap between the LCD and the digitizer.
I strongly recommend PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION.
The best way of doing it is buying a ready assembly. Something along the lines of http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Screen-Touc...235?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0b9f9463 It might be a bit more expensive than buying just a digitizer and attempting to attach it yourself, but you will save yourself a whole lot of trouble. AND it's still cheaper than $250 quoted somewhere above. Once you purchase the assembly, just familiarise yourself with HD2 disassembly/reassembly procedure and install.
Always buy a digitizer that is "OEM", even if it is used. The first digitizer I got for my HD2 with a smashed screen was shipped as 'new' from China, but when I got it, the quality was bad, because it was so cheap, and the screen would not recognize touch correctly..
Always be careful to check if there is anything caught on the middle frame when you take the motherboard out, because if you don't, you will rip something..
When I took my phone apart, I used this tape: http://cgi.ebay.com/3M-ADHESIVE-STI...652633?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20baa9efd9 and it worked fine

Wish I saw this about 25 minutes ago, I've already purchased my glass for 30$ Shipped - I guess I'm in for a hell of a ride with this one.
Hi all
My touchscreen is broken, the screen doesnt response on any touch.
Also there is a crack in the front glass what do i need to replace?
And how do i replace that?
Thanx Sander
It depends on what is exactly broken. However, there are whole Digitizer+LCD units on Ebay for about 70 Euros. Then you can find some guides here, which show how to replace the screen. But as it is glued to the housing, it is not that easy.
However, if you decide no to repair it, I would be interested to buy the faulty device, because I need a small part which got lost during my replacement process. So, in that case, let me know.
the LCD itself is ok.
Only the touch screen is broken
because it lay down on a hot light bulb
so its burned down
only the touch is broken and the cover is a crack in;D
Well the problem is, that both parts are glued together and I haven't found a guide yet which shows how to disassemble then. Even the service manual does not show it.
Check this video: http://vimeo.com/7623264
You can see that he also uses a whole unit consisting of both parts. You can watch the video and decide whether you want to try it or not. But it seems much more difficult than with some other devices as e.g. the Kaiser or the HD2 because more things are glued instead of being fixed by screws.
If you have the tools and the replacement LCD + Digitizer, its really not all that hard.
you only need the right torx & phillips screwdriver and tweesers.
the glue holding the parts in is no issue, its actually convenient as you can just press the new part in without re-gluing.
if you decide the follow the HTC service manual, you may like to checkout the link in the bottom of my signature, it points out all the crucial steps the manual will not tell you to do.
also, even if the LCD is good, replace it anyway, mine was good but my digitizer was bad and I replaced both at once, its worth any extra cost to get a preassembled LCD+Digitizer, if you read around you will come to the same conclusion, many on here tried changing the digitizer alone and failed. (many as in like 40+ people, strongly consider getting a premade lcd+digitizer)
I have successfully replaced the digitizer with a unit from Dealextreme that sadly was slightly damaged on arrival but in much better shape than the original.
However I have to say that it is extremely tedious work, especially separating the digitizer from the LCD.
The original glue is very strong, so just getting the LCD+digitizer out of the casing I found kind of risky.
I ended up using a piece of paper to cut the glue that joins LCD+digitizer, as a hard plastic or metallic tool would most certainly damage the LCD.
The whole operation took me 4+ hours, but it IS possible.

Good to see a success story!
I had only known of a phone repair technician who managed to peform a digitizer only repair, I heard that if you mildly warm the surface it makes it easier to separate, I'm still not game to do it, i noticed just how fragile the parts are when I replaced my bad digitizer with a preassembled LCD + digitizer, and Im still of the belief that its worth paying the difference to avoid the risk.
good stuff buskleif
i managed to seperate the digitiser from the lcd by steaming them apart, then fitting the rubber gasket to the new digitizer. it's a pain in the butt but very do-able. you have to take it very slowly and gently prize them apart as the steam is added. you can also get condensation on the backlight mirrored sheet but it evaporates and has no permanent issues that i've found so far.
My phone recently took a spill onto tile floor from about a foot and a half. It didn't land directly on the face but the glass shattered (Murphy's Law I suppose):

Found a seller on eBay with a number of complete front packages for the Evo (digitizer, LCD, front cam) for $58. You can also find the digitizer separately, but I'd heard that some people have had issues with touch accuracy when replacing just that part. Plus, if you swap the complete front package you don't need to bother with a heat gun to loosen the glue holding the LCD and digitizer together.
One thing to be aware of: due to different ribbon connectors on the Novatek panel versus the Epson, you need to be aware of which screen type you have before purchasing a replacement. There are several ways to tell which panel you have (search the forum or post a reply if you need a point in the right direction).
Part number 83H00256 (S/N beginning 2V6) is the
Novatek LCD panel.
Part number 83H00314 (S/N beginning 2WC) is the
Epson LCD panel.
You can see the part number and serial on this label on the back of the front assembly (picture from ifixit, which did a great teardown on the Evo that can be used for reference):
It's a fairly easy swap so if you're living with a cracked screen (and don't have insurance) I'd highly recommend doing it. The seller I bought from has several more units and offers them for a very reasonable price. You can find his eBay store at http://myworld.ebay.com/secondhandsellular/
A few more pictures of my swap are below (shot with my wife's Pre), but for detailed hi-res pictures see the ifixit teardown.
The cracked phone next to the new front assembly (front):
The cracked phone next to the new front assembly (rear):
Front assembly, logic board, rear assembly

Voila! Like new
Thanks for the info.... this will come handy for people without insurance...
Yeah, good job!

Nice! Thanks for this! I've got insurance and I'm still considering ordering a spare front assembly just to avoid replacing a phone that I have setup exactly how I want it. I guess the insurance will come in handy if the logic board ever dies, but short of that I think I'll make all repairs myself.

The digitizer for SM-P580 is the same as of SM-T580. However, the LCD is different, SM-P580 has S-Pen flex cable, SM-T580 LCD has no S-Pen cable.
So the full LCD and Digitizer of SM-P580 should have two cables, but the SM-T580 has only one.
This is an example, this guy doesn't know the difference between SM-T580 and SM-P580, the LCD is not the same as SM-T580 's LCD doesn't have S Pen cable.

I think you don't recognize the difference either. Touchscreen has only one cable for itself.
Look at this picture, the SM_P580 is on the right, the orange flex on the top is from digitizer, the second orange flex below is Spen and is from LCD.

Wait until you have your LCD, if there is no flex cable, then you buy the wrong LCD. LCD of SM-T580 has no Spen cable.
Look all over internet, no digitizer has SPen cable.
Look at this sale, where you can find the S Pen cable from the touchscreen
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-S...hash=item1ec596faf7:m:mCyWijIKhLHFCkJa2RNLP9w
Look at this Note 2014, the S Pen cable is from LCD. Wacom is embeded in LCD, not on the touchscreen.

Verification of touch screen / digitizer
Hi @Beut, I cracked the glass panel touch screen (it the correct terminology the digitizer?) of my SM-P580. If I understand your comments correctly the S-Pen functionality is not in the touch screen / digitizer, but part of the LCD so then that means I can replace the touch screen / digitizer by purchasing the following EBay item id 401420979195 (my account is new so I can't post URLs). Am I correct? TIA!

Much appreciated. By chance have you seen any SM-P580 touch screens for sale? I can only find touch screen and LCD combinations on EBay that cost at least $175USD which is probably not worth it since I bought the unit new for $230USD.

It seems the touchscreen and LCD are glued together with LOCA ( liquid optical crystal adhesive ).
You have to take out the old set to get the frame and home button, not recommend to someone not familiar with lcd replacement.
I see most of the LCD, digitizer set are sold without frame, without experiences, you may damage the LCD frame or cut off the home button cable.
By doing so, your new set of LCD and digitizer is useless.
