Please help, Music player problem, US TMobile HD2 - HD2 General

Whenever I play the mp3 files using HTC's music player, it always crashes after playing for a few seconds with the following error message:
A problem has occurred with AudioManager_eng.exe
......
When I play them using Windows Media Player, it's fine.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

where are the files located? sd card or main memory? try loading on main memory and see if the error persists
if the error persists can you indicate which rom you are using - stock or otherwise (and yes I hate typing on the hd2 screen =/)

The files are on the SD card. I am using the TMobile original ROM.

Media library Version

I recently purchased trinity, i synchronised it with mp3-wma from my pc, everything was OK, until the following day when i tried to listen to some music and a message appeared on wmp:"media library version is not compatible", moreover i could not access the minisd card from wmp. I tried to open an audio(wma) using file explorer and it worked. I searched over the net and i found that others face the same problem(www.htcwiki.com i don't remember the exact link). To cut it short i discovered that by deleting file "wmpinfo" the problem resolves. I sent an email to htc asking them whether they are aware of the problem or not and if a rom update is scheduled. They replied that the are unaware of the problem and that no rom updates are to come any time soon.
So, because that "media library problem" reappeared (and was resolved as described above) does anyone know a way to fix this permanently? (cause it is irritating)

I do not have this kind of problem. Maybe you should update the windows media player on you PC to the newest version (wmp11)? In my opinion it would be a microsoft problem anyway.
i already use wmp11, the last 4 days the problem did not appear! i hope it will never appears again
Just now I got the same problem, can't find any songs on mini sd from the media player but it works fine from the file explorer. I tried with restarts and taking the sd out and put it back but nothing helps. Does someone know why this happens and how to solve it?

Many Mini SD Card Problems only happen with no name SD Cards. What brand you have?
Hi,
I have a "SanDisk Ultra 1GB"
/magnus
I juust thought that I might add that it's only problems with media player, all programs installed on the sd works fine.
/magnus
delete the file wmpinfo from both memery card and the device, soft-reset the device and the problem will be fixed. I send an email tou htc about the problem and they told me the following:
We have looked into your problem concerning the SD mini card and your HTC P3600 mobile phone.
Please can you try the following:
1. Delete everything from SD card, so format it.
2. Un-install ActivSync
3. Go into c:/program files/Microsoft ActivSync on pc and delete that folder
This should fix the issue.
i have a transcend mini-sd 1gb
I deleted the MSMETADATA folder and the problem was solved for now.
Thanks!
Magnus
It works!
Thanks for the advice chaps. I was having the same problem with not being able to add music on the SD card to the library. After deleting the WMPINFO file and the MSMETADATA folder and rebooting, it now works fine!

media player problem reading memory card

my windows media player won't add files from my memory card. when I try searching for files it finds a very large number of files but when it starts adding them it hangs then gives up. I prefer using the windows media player since I can use it with the htc home plug in as well as the ability to still listen while in standby mode.
any suggestions?
This is a common problem, find the folder MSMETADATA on your SDCARD and delete it then media player should rebuild the library correctly.
^cool, thanks that worked!

Still not working
I've used that fix a number of times but now it doesn't work...
I've now flashed a new Rom Schaps 4.3 and formatted my SD Card. Still no luck!!!! Argggghhhh....
The card shows up in the camera app as well as file explorer, however both media players don't recognise it.....
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.....
Thanks

Help!! Library mode of media player can't access mp3's on storage card ...

Can anyone advise what to do, I can't access mp3's on storage card from library mode of default media player of wm6. Or which other player can I use? & where can I get?
If your problem is that media player stop working when you try to refresh the library then the problem has been talked around a lot, the solution is to delete a folder on storage named MSMETADATA and try again updating the library...
nice
this worked like a charm!, just curious why this ends up happening??. any suggestion to avoid this again would be greatly appreciated
Still not working

Windows Mobile 6.5 Media Player randomly changes song.

I recently flashed a new WM 6.5 rom from here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517568
(Lite)
I found out that with Windows Media Player it will play the first 20 seconds or so of a song, then it'll suddenly change to another song. I am opening a song by doing Open File, then browsing to a song file which is in a directory full of song files on my SD card.
When I flashed the ROM I had my SD card still inside my phone. I found out that for some reason the .cabs on my SD card would no longer install - recopying the .cabs from my computer to the SD card fixed it - this probably suggests that probably something happened to the SD card when flashing.
So I tried to delete all the music and recopy it from my computer, but the problem still exists. I have also tried soft reset and hard reset.
Any ideas?

[Q] HD2 - Android / Can't play the music on my SD-Card (HELP)

Hi guys,
I have this problem from the beginning when I flashed my HD2 from normal stock WM 6.1 to Android on SD-card. I never could play the music through my music player . Recently I flashed my HD2 to Android NAND so i thought maybe this wil help. But still not, I see my .MP3 files on my SD-Card with ES File Explorer. Is i click on the file it plays in musicplayer but it doesnt save the track. So i have to click every song each time and when the song is done i have to click on a new one.. Maybe there is a solution for this.
Thanks guys if you want to help me.
Greetings Slagers
Hi Slagers,
I'm currently using the Winamp app from Market. When started, it searches automatically for new music on my SD card. Got all mp3's in the following folder: [SD-Root]\media\Music. Don't know if this is mandatory, but works fine for me.
Argui
I haven't had that problem. I just store all of my mp3s in a folder I named MP3 on the root of my SD card.
You could try unmounting then remounting your SD card or changing the location of the folder that contains your music files on the SD card.
I really don't know why you are having this issue.
Desperate
Thanks for a quick reply, but neither of your idea's helped. Im realy confused that im the only person with this problem
I shall explain my problem in good details this time.
I bought my HD2 from a guy, i had a little bit of knowledge about Android so I installed android on my phone. Next thing i wanted music on my phone and put like 10 MP3 files on my SD-card. I resetted my phone like a hunderd times but my music player can't find the files. When i search with a File Explorer i see the MP3 files and i can play them. They will open in music player but they see only one song. So that doesnt work. I hope there is some1 with the same problem and has found the solution
P.S.
I put the music files also on my phone card. Didnt helped either.
Thanks
This is a longshot...
I know you say you are using MP3s but are they really MP3s? It might be worth using a media converter and trying to convert one of them to make sure that they really are the right format and right compression etc (e.g. not .flac or .ogg or .mkv etc).
Try downloading any MP3 from your phone browser, reboot the phone and see if it shows up in your music player.
I've had the same problem as you this evening
It seems that Android is caching your music library *anywhere* But if you're using Clockwork Mod, you can boot into Recovery menu and wipe your cache partition. This includes the cache of the music library.
I would recommend doing a backup before, because I'm not sure of any side effects, when clearing the cache partition..
Regards
Its working
Thanks alot guys, its working now! Wooot im happy
I am facing same problem
HI I am very new to andorid.
and very much enjoying it. except the issue that My Songs are found when in Music player.
If I run them manually through music player. they work correctly.
Can you tell me what did u do exactly, to get it resolved?
I am a newbie so please bare with me and provide step by step instructions.
THanks in advance.
i would recomend you to reformat your sd card and see...first make a copy of your contents on your desktop them format your sd card FAT32-64KB
then copy it back
then rename you mp3 folder to music
