Skyfire 2.0 for Andorid is out!! - Nexus One General

get.skyfire.com/dl_android.php
I can't get/find it on the market (in UK) and the apk download link on their site does not work.
Anyone manage to download it, can you please post the apk on here.

tried buddy not working when you go to the market or website it doesn't bring up nothing. They must have pulled it.

tried hard but not getting it in Germany also
even the download page is not working on my computer also
they have put up a barcode also

I'm going to hope this was an indication of it coming later today or tomorrow.. Windows Mobile people seem to really enjoy this browser, and Im hoping it can be enjoyed all the same on Android.

Anyone in the US tried getting it from the market?

Skyfire was the best browser for WM. It had flash before flash even came to windows mobile. I'm in the US and couldn't find Skyfire in the market.

That's because of the abomination that is the stock browser on winmo.

Again, i am from new york and i tried its not up on their servers.

Skyfire is the ****! Full flash support on my old wm phone with skyfire. Im sure it will have full flash support just like the wm version. Cant wait to test this out.
Edit: It does support flash
Supports Flash web video with patent-pending adaptive streaming technology for smooth playback
Pinch to zoom (on Android 2.0 and above)
Multi-tab browsing - open up to eight windows and browse simultaneously using visual tabs
Choose to load full desktop webpages or mobile optimized versions
Clear session history easily upon exit to maintain anonymous browsing

well it kinda does, according to the video the new skybar feature allows you to view vids on a great number of sites, the one they mentioned in the vid was espn.com.
Still very promising and looks great! Hope their download server will be able to handle everyong trying to grab the file at once as word is spreading about the page being up.

It supports Flash video, as they seem to wont say "Flash" without saying "video" after it. I'm hoping though I'm not just thinking too critically, full blown Flash would be nice.

Yeah it seems to run differently then on the wm version

I don't know how reputable it is, but midsofts dot com has some links for skyfire up. The site seems a little shady to me.

skyfire has replied asking to check back in an hour and they are in process of building latest version

Installed ok and testing now.

Thanks for the APK!!!
Have not been able to get Hulu videos to load, may wait for the version from their site and update to see if this is something that can work.
Regardless, works great!

Even if the cab was released, I'm pretty sure it checks your phone number anyway, considering the way the browser works is completely server side.
Here is your cab and all I did was use the search function... You should try it!!!! 10th tab from the left and 3rd from the right!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378549
As mentioned above, you need to be registered for the beta and they are the ones that allow you to use it.
i'm near fed up with the skyfire beta.
i signed up January 28 (day ONE!) at about 3pm, and still have not receieved an invitation to the beta. They claim to be going first-come, first-serve, but if that's the case, a hell-of-a-lot of people signed up within hours of hearing about it.
They just sent me an update email, saying they'll try to get everyone in Beta 1 by the end of April.
Also, I see no reason to be fed up, considering they're providing you this service. They don't actually owe you anything, let's remember.

ummmm...... yea what he say

Ive had the software for a little over 2 weeks now and unfortunetely im extremely unimpressed. The software is incredibly slow on my mogul. The only plus side I have to using this software is to watch you tube videos which Core Player already does in a much easier to usse interface. I'll get back to it once Beta 2 rolls around.
i also signed up on the first day and just got invited to use it a few days ago. i wouldn't worry too much, as mentioned before its really not that good. picture this... remote desktop on someone elses server, with sound, thats it. Its no opera mini, but its coming along slowly. Honestly its really not worth waiting for until version 1.0, and their on .5 still.
I got my invite about a week ago. And btw, i am from Finland. So they now allow non-us people too.
I love it. It's slow to browse but:
- Internet map-services work! A local one has sharper satellite pictures
- I can wach CNETTV.com! Picture isnt that good but audio comes always clear. (it also saves the zoom location on bookmarks. So i just click the bookmark and watch)
- Internet radio stations work! The ones that are flash. (like http://www.finetune.com/wii/ )
- I noticed that it also has atleast .wmv plugin installed on the server-side. So you can play direct-video links too.
I've had it for about 2 weeks, and I think it definitely will be the best browser when all the bugs are worked out. It can render basically any page on the internet perfectly. If you go to Youtube, for instance, it looks as if you went there in IE or Firefox on your regular computer. All of the flash stuff works. Google maps? Yes, you can use street view mode, and it's pretty snappy too.
It has two modes for touch input, which I will call cursor mode and hand mode (that's what the icons look like). This way, you can decide if you want to pan the entire webpage with hand mode or if you want to interact directly with a zoomed in flash applet with the cursor mode.
I signed up for the beta a few months back.

Over at this 31 page thread, you can gauge your sign up times with other users, and guess where you are on the list. Skyfire is just going in order of people who signed up, and it looks like they are still sending out invites to people who signed up on the first day still, jan 28th!
There is more info throughout

yes i have it and you cant get it ...j/k.....its a good browser but I have some reservations..one security....logging into sites that require passwds is not recommeneded with the browser as it is not secure....and the whole video thing is cool but its like logging into my pc using logmein and watching video...choppy....but I think the will improve on it...my 2 cents

Leo Impressions

Hi Guys, just thought id post my thoughts on the Leo.
Ive been using mine now for over 2 weeks having come from an N95(and several failed attempts at finding something I liked inbetween including various iphones, N97 etc etc) so to the thoughts.,
The screen for me was a bit tricky as many have said before, I have huge hands, but decided to persevere.
Has to be said that after about a 10 day period typing messages etc became much easier, after 2 weeks it was brilliant, but then came the eureka moment, which it has to be said was'nt good for me, but telling all the same.
After flashing the ROM, the typing experience became similar to a fair proportion of others on here, infuriating!
Now thinking logicly about it, I decided it couldn't be the screen as was fine before, only thing changed was the ROM, so was software, tried a screen align, hmmm, worse still, did it again, slightly better, but still no cigar, went and checked settings and set to how id had it before, no vibrate(seems to fubar typing), keyboard click on, screen click on, correct as you type on, complete words in both XT9 and ABC both on and did screen align again, now zoila, its better than before(after another screen align) no more false inputs although xt9 has to learn my vocab again(annoying) but it really is a revelation.
Now the only thing annoying me is the long sms list issue (although partialy sorted by selecting all messages and going in through WM)
Can I just add, absolutely epic site guys and thanks to all those that spend there own time making the WM experience better for all!!
Noooo! you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to try typing for 5 minutes, throw your toys out the pram and go buy an iPhone.. *then* come on to xda developers and post a nice long rant about how poor the entire phone / windows mobile is (bonus points for expletives and spelling mistakes).
Fixing problems in an intelligent, logical manner? whatever next?!
I just got my HTC HD2 from Royal Mail. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. The screen is just gorgeous and the navigation is really smooth and snappy. The videos online really do not do it justice.
I've just got a few of questions. I heard that Opera does not support flash, is this true? and will this change in the future?
I tried using IE to open youtube but it doesn't seem to play anything. It has the flash 9 logo and that's it. How do I play videos via the web browser?
Also, when I open up IE it says that it connects using my data plan and I may get charged. Does it not work over WiFi?
I'm just uploading files onto it right now but yes, this device has had my jaw on the floor since I opened the packaging. By far the best phone I have ever owned.

Opera doesn't support flash.
Use the You Tube app already on your handset, it works perfectly.
For playing videos within your browser, download the Skyfire browser for free. I don't like the interface and therefore only use it when I have to but it supports flash and you can play videos and surf for porn on it lol.
gamma500. looks like you still need to find the return key (aka as enter key) as this is the only thing missing in your message. Or did you type it on a PC keyboard, and is the return key (aka as enter key) broken?

Opera doesn't support flash and IE only has 'flashlite' which isn't suitable for playing video. You will need to download Skyfire but the You Tube app will be in your start menu - press the icon at the top left of the screen or the windows button in the middle at the bottom - then scroll through the icons.

Dont have a HD2 ...yet! But from what I have read Youtube is not included on the T-Mobile handset.

Fantastic! Disabling the vibrate response was one of the best things I could do! I can actually type for long periods of time with little errors and the XT9 and ABC is working great now, I didn't realise it could learn... so have been typing in all of my Northern Irish phrases that we use over here!
I'm happy once again, I'm really starting to love this phone; was a bit doubtful at the start and was thinking my N95 8gb looked like a good option to go back to but my faith is growing in this device by the day!
Once again to OP, thanks!
It Just gets better with time Rossimac, which only became apparent after having flashed the ROM and thereby losing two weeks of it.

skyfire is out already

just google it skyfire then download its for free......
seems to be working, but the "loading video" screen stays on top at 50% while the video plays in the background.. hmmm
Thanks for the heads up! Skyfire works like a charm, it maybe isn't as smooth as the standard browser. However the 'video tab' works really well! Finally 'kinda' flash support.
Install?
Im having problems installing the app. Once I get to the screen where they ask if I would like to install Skyfire and click install it goes back to the same screen again. Anybody else experience the same thing?
worked a treat for me.. are you downloading from the Market?.. try the old fashioned trick.. power off and on then try again!!

For Vimeo videos it does this, for youtube it plays them fine, weird.
Tried this on the BBC News website, it was supposed to show a summary of this evenings debate, what I got was a download screen that stuck at 74% while a video of Obama talking about the oil slick played behind it. Several other sites I tried it loaded the mobile version of the site which automatically assumed the browser had no flash support. Another site I tried it failed to notice the video content.
I think it is a little optimistic to call this a Beta, it shows promise but there seem to be quite a few fundamental bugs that need to be ironed out.

Hulu Denies Android 2.2 Flash Player!?!? MUST SEE

So reading up on this. It is not official that I know of at this moment.
But hulu was a no show for Google I/O 2010, and this was found
TECH.ICRONTIC.COM----Hulu is another big name at the top of everyone’s list when Flash is mentioned, but they’ve decided to sit this one out. Hulu has blocked Android 2.2’s Flash player citing copyright concerns; their content providers don’t want to be seen on any device but the desktop.

PC WORLD.COM---Missing from all of this Flash action, of course, is Hulu. I was really disappointed when I tried-and ultimately failed-to watch an episode of "30 Rock" on the Nexus One. According to Adobe, Hulu does not own distribution rights for their content on mobile devices and therefore cannot stream video to smartphones. With no Hulu on the iPad and no Hulu on your Android phone, isn't time for Hulu to develop an app? Let's hope so.

UPDATE: The news seems to be true, as I am awaiting an email from HULU. Will post ASAP
Update: Hulu is refusing to comment, however you cannot play hulu on android flash. BUT there is a trick...See here
Apparently Hulu doesn't have the rights to broadcast their content to any non-desktop devices. That's something they'll have to sort out with the networks.
They also go on to say that this could very well be a temporary lock as Flash hasn't hit the mobile market in full yet. Once it's out on the handsets (~Jun 17th) that lock will probably be lifted. Also, I wouldn't worry so much. If you have a rooted phone, you can always use a proxy and change your UserAgent to something that is supported.
Change your user agent to desktop (through about:debug) and it loads fine.
The videos play badly though. Audio comes in clear, but the framerate is terrible, more like a slideshow.

I've read hulu blocks all non-desktop users because they can't control who see's it. Technically I think it is only legal for U.S. residents to watch the shows on hulu and if it is a mobile phone they can't detect where they are.

Sorry to kill your post, but you never see a hulu video working. This actually supports that HULU is not letting us view vids
Hulu is likely finishing their pay subscription licensing issues before rolling out full video support to mobile devices.
I'd be surprised if they werent working on both at the same time. Hopefully we will see the mobile audience addressed when the "new" Hulu is released.

He only had XX amount of time for the video and didn't want to waste it waiting for it to load, if you read the article he says it did load and play the video, he just had to move on during the filming since he wanted to show other stuff on the video.
Edit: Here is the quote:
"I then visited Hulu.com. All of the content on Hulu.com worked as intended by the designers of the web site. I was able to navigate and play various videos with few problems. Video playback worked just as it does on a desktop web browser. I did the same with MTVMusic.com, which is a great place to watch music videos for free. All the video played just fine."
I frequent that site a fair ammount, and their review videos follow the same format, they don't like waiting for stuff to happen, and they try and keep them inside a time limit... we asked about it once, and they said they like to keep their videos to 7 minutes or less.
I also asked in the "discuss" tab about it, for further clarification. They respond pretty quickly, but might not until tomorrow since it is late in the day.

Right, which was my point. They're not going to be blocking mobile users by IP addresses, which is their only method of blocking aside from user agents (which are easily spoofed).
I can also watch Hulu videos on the Desire ROM, with Dolphin Browser HD (which uses the Flash 10 Lite from the ROM) and by setting my user agent to 'Desktop'. Apparently they haven't made all the proper modifications to block us entirely.

FIXED BY 5.0.1- Did the Dolphin update break your browsing experience on Iconia Tab?

UPDATED: Release 5.0.1 fixed the problem. Back to being my favorite browser!
If the update to version 5 of Dolphin HD refuses to load pages or won't load them at all on your A500, please go to our blog and comment with specifics so we can refer them to Dolphin in the next day or two.
I had the same problems with the beta version and uninstalled it immedietly. We want to keep this A500 specific, but are interested to know if other devices are having the same issues.
Please comment here:
http://everythingiconia.blogspot.com/2011/06/dolphin-browser-50-broken-on-iconia-tab.html
We are not doing this to make money, so don't click any ad links while on our site unless you see something you just have to click on. (We only make a penny per click anyway).
Let's make sure Dolphin pays attention to this quickly.

Agree i too using Opera Mobile since it can download anything.
Only negative is no Flash in Opera yet.
It's because that Google hasn't open the Android 3.0 source code.
but it seems that Opera Mobile support HTML5.
Yeah, the update gave me problems, it is sporadic and hard to track down. When it occurs the pages fail to load properly, and I have to force the program stopped (application manager or task manager) to restore it to a functional state.
But, when it is working, it is a very nice update...
Same for me...I tried the Dolphin beta and had all sorts of issues where the pages wouldn't load any more. I uninstalled it and went back to the stock browser, which is working pretty well since the update. The previous Dolphin HD version was awesome.
Yesterday I installed the newest released version of Dolphin HD and am sharing it's use with the stock browser. It seems to be working okay, but I haven't done much surfing in the last day or so.
Update
Go the Dolphin home page and under the goole search bar you will see "page loading disturbing you now?". It appears this issue may have been addressed with a new beta. It has worked for me but I have only been using it for a short while.
