mobile development - Droid Eris Android Development

anyone got any good suggestions? I wanna be able to compile and pack Roms from my handset while I'm without a box atm... any possible way? being that most of the kitchens are Linux based could I potentially run dsixda's kitchen from a rooted device and output to the card?

Mods would have to be done. There a files that have to be added and or modified due to hardware differences. Do a search for "vanilla" and 2.1" in the Hero CDMA thread here. There are a few great vanilla 2.1 ROMs already floating around.
its called an aosp, or Android open source project. the only true 2.1 aosp we have right now is darchdroid, not that doesn't have a working camera yet.

[REQ] rooted ROM of JOP40G?

Could somebody build a JOP40G rooted stock ROM with init.d support?
Don't wanna install a virtual machine + ubuntu to do it all the way by my own.
+I'm not such a good developer like other members here @xda.
thank you
Re: [REQ] rooted RUU of JOP40G?
RUU's are solely for HTC phones.

Most of the "developers" on XDA aren't actually developers
AW: [REQ] rooted ROM of JOP40G?
I know it. I just don't wanna install oracle with Ubuntu and dsixda kitchen plus the files for N4 and so on just to create one build of a rooted stock ROM. I know there are some folks with Linux on their desktop and better knowledge then me (btw I can actually build ROMs which isn't that hard) but I don't wanna install something which will be uninstalled some hours later
Hope you understand my meanings better now.

[Q] Build Cyanogenmod with Windows

Hi there,
I already build CM 10.1 for my mako with Ubuntu and flashed sucessfully using this tutorial.
But I really don't get along with linux. We just don't like each other.
Is there any good tutorial for building on Windows? Is it even possible?
Greetings
Nope, not possible directly on windows. You can run Linux inside a virtual machine if you want.

[Req] Stock 4.4.2 port

Hello S2 lovers. Today I managed to get my hands on the note 2 4.4.2 and I began the biggest project : Porting 4.4.2 Touchwizz ROM. So I have a unfinished varyant of it... My problem is that I don't have Ubuntu and I can't decompile kernal and recompile it... So here is my request : I need someone who knows how to edit a kernal and who has Ubuntu to help me with the ROM... Also , if we manage to make a bootable version I need a name for the ROM . And I want you to think at a name.
Thanks in advance

The kernel is the easy part, I can take care of that for you.
The question is how you will make it boot as framework, libs etc need probably a lot of changes

That's a little thing... Our goal is to make a bootable version... Glitches will be solved after

Is the kernel the more easy part? It would be excellent, if you could make it as soon as possible. :good:
Share the kernel from your 4.4.2 rom and i will look into it.
But here is a good tip: use a CM11 kernel from s2 and change the framework, libs etc. Trust me to make it boot you dont need to focus that much on kernel but more on the files in the rom. So start by porting, i am sure you will get bootloop in first attemt so adb a logcat and take it from there. I sure hope you can adb.

Hi Mr. Lazy,
Here is a suggestion for posting new threads in future. Use the search function to make sure threads of the same topic don't already exist. In this case, we already have this one.

New Porting Guide

Interested in porting Ubuntu to a new device?
Check out https://developer.ubuntu.com/start/ubuntu-for-devices/porting-new-device/
thanks
I will try to port it
But need some help

Besides being much harder to follow than the earlier guide, this guide is prettly limited in its usefulness until it tells how to build from cyanogenmod rather than aosp.
