Trying to pair my HD2 with my Pioneer DEH-P710BT and neither device will recognize the other after numerous attempts to follow each of the owner's manuals. Both have Bluetooth switched on and are discoverable and this just worked with my old iPhone on the first try. Is there a trick to this or something I'm missing? Anyone been successful pairing an HD2 to a Pioneer headunit? Thanks!
I have a sony xplod and it works fine with my HD2. You want to put your stereo into pairing mode and search for it with your phone, like you would with a bt headset.
I have the exact same model and I've experienced endless frustration trying to get it to work seamlessly with the HD2. My Blackberry has no issues with the connection to the DEH-710BT radio. There seems to be an issue with the devices establishing a connection, however when they do finally connect it stays reliable for as long as the radio is on.
Going through the Bluetooth settings in the HTC Sense menu often causes the connections to be reset and not work without a number of repairing attempts. Eventually it will work, but its taken me up to 10 minutes to get A2DP and the headset profile to work together.
There are some posts about people having issues with other car stereos and registry settings that are supposed to help. I've tried the registry settings without success in having the devices fully automatically connect.
After playing with the devices for a while, I've gotten it so that the devices 100% of the time automatically connect with the headset profile, however I cannot get them to automatically connect with the A2DP profile. The reliable work-around I've found is after I start my car, I go to Start->Settings->Bluetooth and then click on Stereo Audio under the Pioneer Device. While a bit of a pain, it isn't nearly as bad as trying to use the HTC Sense menu.

speoples20: You're exactly right, my headunit would not find the HD2 but the HD2 found the headunit (took me 5 tries before I got a successful pairing). Thanks!
dmattox: Thanks for the heads up about the A2DP situation, I don't have music loaded on the device yet since I use thumb drives but I'll have to try it out and report back if I have better luck. It is cool that the A2DP feature is there, I don't believe this was supported on the iPhone.
I currently run a Pioneer AVIC-D3 using the Pioneer CD-BTB200 bluetooth module.
I have no issues with connecting my HD2 (and previously my Touch Pro2) to my head unit for both voice and bluetooth stereo.

I have the AVIC Z110BT on my car and I connect the HD2 fine. I do have to do it from the HD2 and not the AVIC unit as opposed to when I had my iphone, but my HD2 connects flawlessly and I can use BT for Audio without any skip. My iphone used to skip every 30 seconds when I played it with the BT Audio connection. I have Energy Rom on my phone, but it worked all the same when I had stock rom as well.

Hey guys,
Does anyone have experience with this head unit?
I am getting this head unit in the mail and i wanted to know if it works as advertised with the mogul. I want to use it as a handsfree and to stream sirius through my car speakers via A2DP.
Are there any tricks or tips for use with this head unit?
Which BT stack and rom function the best with this head unit?
I am REALLY excited about it but I want to be prepared in case there are things I need to know.
Thanks guys!
I have the same setup. Streaming audio through BT works excellent. I do have issues with making and recieving calls sometime though. Ever since I was using the bootleg ROM (prior to GPS official roll out) my calls are hit and miss. At first I could just leave the BT "on" on the phone and I could turn the car off, then back on and it would connect to the phone automatically. Now, everytime I turn the radio off, I gotta reset the BT on the phone.
Hi, I was able to pair my x1 to my pioneer headunit in my car and get the a2dp to work, but say when I leave the car and it d/c as it should, it does not automatically reconnect when i start the car again like it should, I have to manually go into the settings and set wireless stereo again. Anybody know a solution to this? I am used to my old phone just automatically connecting everytime I start the car. Phone is visible also.
Hi, can I ask how you get your pioneer unit to work with X1? I've tried pairing my Pioneer unit to my X1 and it doesn't connect. Btw, I want to use my unit for handsfree calling. Thanks.

Search this forum for A2DPtoggle and you will find a program to easily connect A2DP bluetooth stereo.
Recently I purchased a Pioneer F900BT for my car, which is a stereo, GPS, and bluetooth enabled unit.
I am able to initially pair it with my HTC x7501 with no problem. And for a couple of days the 2 devices will find each other when I get in the car and the stereo turns on. But eventually they just stop talking and I have to re-pair them over again.
I find this bizarre since both machines still list each other as paired devices in their respective bluetooth setups. They just stop talking to each other.
On the HTC side, in an attempt to remedy this, I upgraded to a 6.1 ROM and the 1.58 radio version. But that did not change the behaviour at all.
Any thoughts? I will be posting a similar message on the avic411 site which is for my Pioneer unit.
Hello
I am trying to get my Hero to connect with my Lexus RX400h's bluetooth car-kit. I can pair the Hero with the car but it will not reconnect. Is there a way to authorize the Hero to alway reconnect without having to re-pair?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jon
It should remember it. I've never had a problem with my own bluetooth kit.
I get paired but not connected with my thb bury kit there are lots of posts on here about bluetoth issues 5 series bmws also have problems, htc support say they are waiting for an update from google
I'll add the Range Rover Sport to the list of cars with bluetooth issues.
I can connect OK, but as soon as the phone is connected it disables the phone keypad on the car dashboard so I can't use it to access voicemail and other menus.
Worked fine with my Diamond and Touch HD
Toyota TNS 510 carkit wont work either. It pairs ok, it even pairs the A2DP system. When pairing is finished a little message appears on the phone saying there was a problem with the bluetooth handfree thingy.

What model year is your RRS ? My MY08 D3 works fine with the Hero... contact list navigation is far better than my 'old' Nokia N85. If your RRS is pre MY2008 there is an ECU update for the Bluetooth PTI I believe.
I'll add a Jaguar XF to the list. Hero will pair ok, then it will disconnect. it will disconnect a few times before it settles down. Whenever it tries to auto-connect, it will disconnect 2 or three times before it stays connected. sometimes it wont connect at all, a quick disable, then re-enable of bluetooh on the hero then gets it to connect again.
Didnt have any problems with any BlackBerry's, Touch Diamond, Nokia e52. Looks like we're waiting on Google for a fix. I wonder if their continual beta policy applies to updates as well as full blown applications?
Peugeot 407 SW ('07)- Pairing okay, connects okay too. On phone call the radio is muted, call picked up (on incoming), but the sound keeps coming through ear piece for 4-5 sec and then it eventually switches to speakers.
HTC cust support not very supportive... pointing me to go to the car manufacturer for support... :s
The Hero and/or Android does not support the bluetooth stack's remote Sim Access Profile (rSAP/SAP) required by many car kits (VAG, Lexus etc.). This might be the issue here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile#SIM_Access_Profile_.28SAP.2C_SIM.29
Let your car do the pairing
Turn bluetooth on your phone and let your car discover and pair with the phone. Your carkit will suggest the passcode enter it in you phone and not the other way arround. That might work, It did for my Porshe.
How do you transfer bluetooth contacts??
Hi. I have my bluetooth car kit working fine, it is with a pioneer head unit. At first i would have to manually connect it, as the phone can only be made visible fo 120 seconds. Hoever after doing this 5 or 6 times, it then automatically conected every time. Just keep trying and see if it eventually does it.
Also.... How do you transfer your contacts lists to the bluetooth device?? I cannot find anyway!! please help!!
No Go on the Mazda 3
just bought a 2010 Mazda 3 sport and the bluetooth does not work with hero.
it pairs with the phone and then occasionally connects. however when you dial a number by voice or keypad the system in the car locks up completely for about 4 mins. tried other phones and works perfect.
Strange thing is it did work once for a day but then went all haywire after that.
would rooting the phone and installing a different rom open up the bluetooth any more so it can communicate better.
Dont want to get rid of the phone but unless i can find a remedy im gonna have to get a different phone.
I have Lexus ES350 2007, It's paired and auto connect with no issue! I have a tiny issue with incoming call in navi screen it display "not supported" instead of caller name!
Also it ringing in my Hero for 4 seconds then it ringing in my car?!
Thanks
Sorted
Well ive sorted th bluetooth problem.
once paired as long as i dont turn off bluetooth on the phone then it connects / reconnects just fine. if i do turn bluetooth profile off then when pairing i need to make phone visible before i get in the car and it picks it up again.
sorted.
2010 Mazda 3 and HTC Hero Bluetooth
Have the exact same problem as Wingy999 and if I leave the bluetooth switched on on the phone I have no problem.
But if I do switch it off/restart the phone, even if I make the phone visible when I get in the car, it does not connect and I have to delete and repair the phone to the car.
Can you help wingy999?
Yes/No
Well its a case of Yes it is and No it isnt.
Sometimes, for a few days i have no problems with phone. Then for no reason it decides to connect (picture of the phone on dash) but it cant communicate with the car. So when you dial it just hangs the system.
Got sick of pairing it to be honest so have left it for now. i wondering if rooting the phone might be a way forward.
yeah, no clue if rooting will help, but im def waiting for it to be possible. lots of cool things that can be done.
the bluetooth problem is to do with the android bluetooth api itself from what i understand. google haven't figured it out entirely yet and so only released it with basic functionality. even once modders are able to get inside the cdma hero, i dont think they can get at the low level bluetooth functionality and make changes. I could be wrong, but if it were the case, we'd see things like obex object transfer available on the GSM Hero's already.
I also have the same problem with my 2010 Mazda 3 and my sprint HTC hero.
I am probably going to have to return the phone. I was hoping for an update or a fix.
It is critical that the bluetooth feature works.
Another annoyance is that I cannot turn the bluetooth streaming audio. Even though the car and phone both have this feature, I do not want it on. I want to be able to turn on bluetooth for phone but not bluetooth streaming audio.
The HTC touch pro 2 (windows mobile) could turn each of the 2 bluetooth services off independently (and worked for both), the HTC Hero does not allow this (and doesn't work with the car anyway).
Huge thumbs down for an otherwise great phone.
My issue is with a Jabra SP700 Bluetooth speakerphone. My phone is paired, is detected and the phone even says 'Bluetooth Headset Connected'.
However, sound is not routed to the speakerphone, it just comes out of the phone speaker...
FYI I'm running MCR 2.8.
BMW 1 series 08 and HERO
Before I buy an HTC Hero does anyone know if it will work with my BMW 1 series
I have the following problem when connecting the HD2 with bluetooth to my car stereo:
The car stereo is capable of BT-phone (Hands-free) as well as BT-audio (Stereo Audio) connection. The connections are made automatically (connections are set and authorized) indicated with two different symbols indicating each connection.
The following occurs:
A. When connecting the HD2 for the FIRST time to this stereo, both BT-phone and BT-audio do connect automatically. This can be monitored by the two symbols on the car stereo, and also in the bluetooth connection monitor on HD2.. both Stereo Audio and Hands-free are connected, indicated by the green arrows.
B. When connecting the HD2 again (so anytime but first time), ONLY BT-phone does connect automatically!
The BT-audio connection I can connect when I need to, but this can be done only manually in the bluetooth settings on the HD2 by ticking the Stereo Audio entry.
In case B it makes no change if I check or uncheck the "Connect seperately to Bluetooth hands-free and stereo audio services" checkbox in the connection properties on the HD2. Makes no difference.
Also, a normal stereo bluetooth headset connects both BT-phone and BT-audio at all times,
So for the car I would like to also have Stereo Audio connect automatically too (like Hands-free). For the HD2 I have tried several ROMs and several soft/hard resets to make sure it is a problem which always occurs..
Why does the car stereo only connect both services the first time the connection is made, and afterwards only the phone handsfree service?

i have exactly the same problem! any suggestions on this would be appreciated
+1
using fiscon mobile.
at the same time i have quality issues (no bass or low sampling rate). but i guess this is a fiscon problem? it was the same with my previous i-phone.
Audio quality is fine here. Is the connection issue a Windows Mobile bug?

on a fiscon? are you using a fiscon as well?
I don't know if this is helpful, however I have an IO Play system in my car and it connects automatically everytime for both handsfree and audio streaming.
Works fine for me with my Lidl (!) Silvercrest car stereo. But for me the HD2 has to be playing audio/music for the Bluetooth streaming to work.
FYI - my car stereo is an Eclipse 3200
Have the same issue with A2DP Bluetooth headphones/handsfree.
While the device recognised it as Bluetooth stereo and handsfree and on a first connection both connections are active in device profile, on any other connections only handsfree connects authomatically. And I need to mannually connect stereo in Bluetooth manager :/
Same here :S
Every time i connect my Nokia BT Headphones " Hands free" connects automatically and "Stereo audio" not
I also have exactly the same problem. only BT-Phone connects, not BT-Audio.
I have a Sony headunit. Seen as I guess we all have different headunits in our cars, it must be an issue with the HD2 not the stereo.

I have a Sony car stereo.
Same here except in my case I have a cheapy Tevion (Aldi) headunit. This is a real pain in the neck if you stop and turn off the engine of the car because then I have to reconnect BT Audio again
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this also happens with A2DP stereo headsets with combined audio+HF.. Don't know why though..
Had this problem with my HTC Diamond, and now with my HD2.. Search for "A2DP Toggle"..
It defintiely happens with some A2DP headsets - I have a Sony headset and it happens on that. You have to manually connect A2DP profile each time.
We need an A2DP toggle for the HD2 Widcomm stack ...

I have a Sony headset which connects both BT Audio and BT Phone together, and a Sony Car stereo which connects only BT Phone.
I have the exact same issue with my JVC car head unit, should be able to connect to use as hands-free and stream music, but neither will retain a connection. I can't connect and pair the devices with the '000' (or whatever I choose) BT pairing code. My previous mobile worked perfectly and auto-connected as it should every time.
I submitted it as a support request on HTC (UK) site, here is my response:
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Bluetooth accessory you have mentioned may not be fully compatible with the HTC handset so may have limited features to be used with the device. For example you maybe able to pair it but other faults may occur. Please keep an eye on our website for any future updates such as Bluetooth patches and ROM upgrades. We cannot confirm if and when these may or may not become available.
As a test, you maybe able to delete all Bluetooth partnerships/devices from your handset and start the pairing process again.
Is it working now?
As an alternative solution please see compatible and recommended Bluetooth accessories in the Buy section of our website below:
(Link to 'HD2 Bluetooth Accessories' page of their website)
Please let us know how you get on and we will assist you further if and when required as a matter of urgency.
Best regards,
Mat

Not the response I wanted, and when I have followed up on this reply I got the same copy/pasted text response! Upon following up on that reply I think they gave up on me as I haven't got a reply this time!
Basically, they want me to go out and spend another couple of hundred £ on more equipment to achieve my hands-free (without an earpiece) requirement, even though I already have the equipment but can't make it connect!!

HTC is getting better and better at standard responses. However there are also helpful and knowledgeable people on the other side of the communication line.
Approved bluetooth says nothing, as if they will try to test every bluetooth device in the world, even sold prior to the birth of the HD2... right.
However the problem is perhaps more WinMo related and not only HD2. But I have only the HD2 to test with..
AND WHILE WRITING... I see that also sony stereo headset is connected as BT Phone... guess we need a small tool to connect bluetooth easily.
I think its a combination of the software in the Bluetooth device and the host. My Sony headset would also require manual A2DP connection with my previous phone - an Eten. As others have posted here other Sony headsets will pair with the HD2 automatically for A2DP.

I can also confirm this "bug". Can't get my A2DP device (BCK-08) to connect (itself) as BT Stereo. Everytime reconnects automatically in HF mode. That really sucks.
