Sim keeps locking??? - XPERIA X10 General

Hi All,
Over the past two days I find that sometimes when I pick up my X10, the sim is locked and unavailable, and I have to re enter my Sim unlock Pin.
Anyone else have this problem? I can't for the life of me work out why this would suddenly start happening?
Sony Ericsson support have no idea what the problem is...
Cheers.

sim locks
Hey..
it is a little while after your post, but it is the only post about this problem i could find. I have the same problem with my (3 weeks old) x10i, and it drives me nuts!! it keeps locking the sim, an i keep missing sms messages and phone calls because of this problem..
I hope you have found a solution, because there is no continuation to this thread.
ciao

its because you have a task manager killing off stkappservice and backup & restore when killing these 2 the sim locks uninstall the task manager or add them to the except list...

Or use a decent backup app and ditch the se backup altogether.

It's because ur device was rebooted...

It's something to do with the app accessing the sim card.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

Okay, I don't exactly know what's stkappservice.
But, yeah, if you use a task killer and you didn't put the "backup & restore" app into the ignore list, your phone will reset almost every time you kill the process.

thx for the info

I'm pretty sure it also happens if/when launcher crashes. Then again, what do I know.

Stolen Phone

Hey,
I've been lookin for an App that can locate my phone via GPS if it gets stolen, and found the app, Where's My Droid, but it seems like it have a limitation, coz u have to enable GPS before getting the phone stolen, or lost, nd lets be honest, it's a battery killer, and you wouldn't enable it everytime you are out So have any of you seen a program like this, or would have the functions like:
Silent enable GPS via "Special SMS"
Silently reporting to your spare phone with location
Automatic detection if the SIM has been changed and send back the new number
Runs on startup silent and is active at all times
Password protected Menu
At my old HTC Touch Diamond WM 6.1 i had a software called W.I.M.P ( Where's My Phone) wich had these functions, wich made it easier to track a phone if it got stolen.
Hope someone out there have a solution

Just looking at it now, and wow!! As far as i can see, this is exactly what Im looking for are you using the app your self?

I am using wavesecure as I got a deal on the subscription for just £10 for the year.
It is a very good piece of software and works very well.
It uses gps to track the phone but will only activate it if it needs to send the location of the phone so not on all the time.
Would recommend it.

I use wavesecure its great!
I got a subscription via the MoDaCo Plus scheme.

Another vote for Wavesecure.
Their service is impeccable - I have logged ticket requests asking general questions about Wavesecure and their responses have been very through and within 12hrs.
The application is great, make sure you follow the guide on installing the application as a system application, which will make it hard reset proof in case some clown steals your phone and tried to wipe it.
EDIT: I cant post links outside of this forum so I cant hotlink you to their site and guide.
GPS only drains battery when used (i.e. when you open an app that needs GPS like Maps etc.) and when u see the icon in the TopBar. Theres no need to turn it off. I always have it enabled and there is no noticable battery drain...
--> You can use WheresMyDroid without any problems

The problem with wheresmyDroid is that you can't remote enable it, so It's pretty easy for the thief to turn gps off

A free alternative would be "Lookout mobile security"
Seach on the market.

AntiDroidTheft can do that, but I don't think it's hard reset proof.

You can't just uninstall it without a password, but it can be removed if the thief does a hard reset. If he does that before changing the sim card, this program is useless. If he doesn't hard reset, you can locate your phone and you will get an email when he changes the sim card.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I would definitely recommend WaveSecure.
If someone changes the sim card, it sends a text message to any number(s) you have set up for it. The text message contains the phone number of the newly inserted sim card.
I've been using it since the start, and I wouldn't be without it.
OK, I know it's not free, but it's very cheap compared to replacing your Desire!
Take a look at Prey in the market or at preyproject.com
Completely free, and starts tracking your phone once activated and sending you regular reports with location, ip and traceroutes. If the sim is replaced it can send an SMS to another phone number. They also have apps for PC and Macs. Nice to have it all under one account

Also check out mobile defense, similar to wavesecure but I like the UI more. Better yet use both .

Nope, it's off for me and is off until I want to on it.
i heard that the same thing happened to some people with droid x when they used Titanium Backup and restored all apps + data.
It could be caused by a conflict with new data and old data with some apps like google calendar or contacts. Any chance that i got the same issue here?
Had a similar issue with the old firmware.for some reason the sync always on every time I had switched on my phone.you can try closing the sync under preferences->apps running (don't know how it is in English)and do a restart.

[Q] Default Messaging App will not work

First I hope Im posting this in the right place, second Im not a regular in this forum as I have another device, however I need some assistance. My girlfirend has the Droid 2 and yesterday stated experiencing an issue with the default messaging app. It will only allow her to type in 1 word and then stops functioning. I thought maybe pull the battery and it goes away. But shes done that and the issue is still there, so then Im thinking that maybe she somehow got a virus? I ran a virus scan with Lookout (it was already installed) and it didnt come up with anything. I cant seem to convince her to use another SMS app just to try because she refuses to download anything else, she's stubborn and just wants the default app to work. Do any of you have any ideas? Shes talking about doing a factory reset which Im not sure it will help and she isnt rooted (Yet) and does not have Titanium Backup on the device. Im open to some ideas before she does that reset and loses her apps and what not...Thanks in advance!!

Exactly
And I may sound reaaaallyyy stupid right now lol, but I don't understand your last question or I just don't know what do you mean and how I'm supposed to know that
Go to Settings, then About Phone & perform a software update if available, if there isnt one available may i ask how many contacts you have? ive seen problems like this on my old Xperia Play, the reason was because i had around 2100 contacts.
This may sound stupid but have you restarted your phone? and if you have, keep hold of the home button, press the icon on the bottom left, then find the RAM tab & press Clear Memory.

I updated my software last night and I have around 80 contacts so that is not the problem i guess.
I restarted it, a tried a reset of phone few times and cleared memory too. I really can't figure it out. Sometimes when I open my contacts it just goes back to my homepage.
it seems to me a factory reset & ota update wont hack it.
So i suggest you go onto Sam Mobile or Samsung Updates & find the right firmware for your phone with the right network & flash it using odin.

Getting weird system pop-up, please help

I had this on my old Z1, and now I have a note 4 and it's on it as well... Every few days I get a pop-up on my phone with a Chinese word (screen shot will be added), and despite all my efforts with anti-virus / anti-malware apps, it persists. I found nothing on it online... I used Google translate to try to make sense of this pop-up, all it says is " 堰" which translates into "weir". I used es file Explorer to search my entire phone for that Chinese word, it came up with nothing. I deleted all apps that I thought were suspicious, and still nothing. Could someone help me with this? It's driving me insane. Thank you.
Could it be an app that you had both on your z1 and have it on your new device as well? How about doing a factory reset and then if your problem persists? The only logical course I can think of is to install your apps incrementally and seeing when this starts again. Also, try to keep unknown sources and verify apps on under security. Hope that leads you in the right direction.
I've deleted almost all third party apps, did a factory reset, even flashed a new ROM from sammobile... It still happens. This problem started when I put my old memory card from my Z1 on the note 4. But I've switched it for a new one, and flashed the new ROM after that (and wiped data, and cache), and still no luck. I'm beginning to think it may have been a virus that implants itself to system files or something... I'm a noob though, I need some developer brain power for this
It could be a message from your SIM card or network.

Yes I agree with Jimmyness. Go get a new SIM card, assuming you moved the SIM from your old phone. You've changed everything else.
Alright, I'll give it a shot and let you guys know... Thanks

To see which app this pop-up message is belong to, try the following:
install Shortcut Master app > Menu > Capture Shortcut.
That shortcut master app... I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to do.

What service provider are you using? Does this happen after a factory reset before you add your Google account? In thinking you are letting an app install after you reset.

It captures the shortcut of the popup shown on the screen.
That way you will know which app that popup is belong to.
