[REQUEST] - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I dunno if this would fall under themes (I assume it would) but I have a request for a mod to WM6.5. Alright, in WM6.1, when you pressed the start button, a small menu popped out. In WM6.5, the start menu opens a full menu of items. I like the 6.1 functionality instead of the 6.5. Basically, I'm requesting that someone makes a modification that makes the start menu have the same functionality in 6.5 as it did in 6.1. All I want is a cab that I can install and then have my start menu button function as it did in 6.1. The programs button in the 6.1 start menu could link to the actual 6.5 menu, and settings to the 6.5 setting folder. It would then have similar enough usage to the 6.1 start menu to make me happy. If anyone wants to do this, yay. If not, just a thought guys. I guess it'd just be editing what the start menu links to, just make a context menu instead of opening the full start menu. Then again, what do I know
Touch Pro 2 AT&T
WM6.5 Stock TF3D 2.1
Edit: Meant [REQUEST] Start Menu Mod, my computer must've deleted the title while I had it highlighted or something.

Try QuickMenu. It's a third party program which emulates the style and function of the Start Menu pre-WM6.5. I don't believe it is actually possible to replace the native 6.5 Start Menu with that of 6.1, so QuickMenu is probably the best you can do to recover the old, smaller style menu.

Thanks, installing now.
Edit: Works great, thanks!

[REQ] HTC Taskmanager improvement

Hi There,
If you ever used the "Close Button" plug-in from Spb Mobile Plus you prolly know what I mean...
The HTC Taskmanager looks all nice, I like it, but its only accessible on the Today Screen. Is there a way to make it accessible even when you're not on the today screen?
Sometimes when you're doing stuff you want to "alt-tab" to another program and this is an easy way to do it, or when you want to close another/all other programs.
I hope there's a solution because it really is an improvement to the taskmanager.
me too
sorry, no help here. I can only say "me too". I was actually just thinking about this today. I've had this phone for a few months, and it just today occurred to mr today that you can't close other open programs without going back to the today screen, only option is to "x" button back to today screen or hope that what you seek to close is in your start menu under 'recent items'.
any help or development would be super appreciated, thanks all.
There is a shortcut in the Settings folder in the Systems tab. However, I expect you don't want to go through all of that when you want to use it. As an alternative, you could use file explorer and go into the Windows folder, find the Task Manager program in there, copy it and past a shortcut in the Windows/Start Menu folder. Then it would be on your Start Menu. You would need to remove one other item if you were then over the allowed maximum number of items in there.
Is that accessible enough?
I'd rather not put it in my start menu cus there are other "important" shortcuts in there...
I'd rather have it in the upper right corner...
You could use WkTask
the best free taskmanager there is (not working on wm6.5)

I tried it and I like it, Is there a way to make a backup of my settings?
It seems the program doesnt work as i wished it would. I worked with it for a while and I like the concept alot, but there's a major flaw. Sometimes when I make adjustments to, lets say, my alarm settings (winmo clock/alarms setings), and when I press [ok] the window minimizes (I set the one click to minimize), there's no way you can apply the changes because it will keep on running on the background. If I choose to close it then the changes wont apply. This occurs to many other programs I use in simular occasions when you need to press [ok] to apply settings.
I would still have a solution to the HTC taskbar though. I think I would prefer it over the WkTask taskmanager.

Any Chance for the Old Start Menu?

Hi,
I just installed the official 6.5 update but I think the WM 6.5 "Honeycomb" start menu is that damn slow when you got a lot of programs there. You have to scroll a lot and scrolling doesn't look very fluid.
Is there a way or a registry hack to get back the old HTC start menu that was delivered when the Diamond2 originally came out? The best would be if there where 4 icons in a row.
I've added a snapshot to show what I mean. Yes, as you can see on the snapshot I'm back to 6.1
My startmenu is very fluid to be honest, I got my programs and stuff sorted in folders. Like games, media (coreplayer etc), network (commanager etc), personal (phone, sms, email etc), GPS, system (total commander, resco explorer, reg edit etc). I will install SPB Screenshot and show you how it looks.
Here you go.

Its still there under the programs tab... ? or at least it is on mine...
sorry if this is a noob question, but how do i add folders to the start menu like you've done? and change icons?
I have done the same thing that you have done, Created folders in the start menu, to do this you just go to windows/startmenu and create folders in there.
However every time I soft reset my device, extra icons appear on the main start page screen. Is there any way to remove these?
I would love to go back to the HTC Start Menu as it was so much better, I know it is on a Tab on Touch Flow 3D but it defeats the point in having a hardware button to launch programs!

I totally agree. The current Startmenu lack the support for hiding items en ordering them. Love to find a solution.
I do not have any issues restructuring my start menu.
The only icons I keep on the main page are Phone and Reset, everything else is in a sub-folder and does not add icons to the main page.

True, but the TouchFlo "Programs" was much easier.
So am I the only one who's missing the drop-down menu when you tap the Start button - you know, the one that lists seven favourites and your four or five most recent programs?
Why should I navigate the Honeycomb every time I want to go to a program I use about 30 times a day?
Any fixes/hacks to bring this back? Or am I being really stupid and there's a simple option that I haven't found yet?

You can do this with Topaz Keyboard Controller: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821
Map the Start button to run the program "\Windows\manila.exe" with arguments "--switchtopage programs.page", and it should work perfectly - does for me.

How to move icons in start menu (wm6.5+sense 2.1)

Hello evrybody!
i search since few days how to move the icons in the start menu page, on an HTC official wm6.5 ROM.
Is it possible?
I found how to change 3 to 4 or five colomns, but not how to move an icon upper, bowner, under another...
I've just the possibility (like all of you I suppose) to move 1 icon on the first line.
I think i'ts possible on sense 2.5
Thanks for answer
If you press and hold an icon, a pop up menu (with only 1 option) will appear. You can click that to move it to top. I'm using sense 2.1 in 6.5.
No, the version of Sense has nothing to do with whether you can move icons on the start menu around. The only intuitive method of moving icons around exist in the 23xxx builds of WM, which are still pretty unstable. The best option for you would be to use a program like this.
I found That:

And I thing it's the unique way to move incons on the homepage. I tried it, I got it!!!!

Issue with old applications and WM6.5.x

Hello,
I have some issue with the new layout of the WM6.5.3. taskbar and windows bar with old WM6.5 applications.
Old WM6.5 applications used to have on their configuration panels a small "ok" icon on the top right of the screen to validate selections and modifications.
With the 6.5.x layout this "ok" button does not appear anymore: I guess it is hidden by the clock, and it is not possible to apply ok anymore.
I even get stuck on the configuration panels as I cannot exit the app.
Does anyone knows a workaround to be able to use these type of apps with 6.5.x ?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Arnaud
Hi.I think there is no way around it. This is the reason why i dont flash any 6.5.X roms. You will have to install apps that are compatible with 6.5.X only with the "OK" on the bottom.

4 colums Start menu and programs tab for Sense 2.5?

Recently flashed Verizon's stock MR2 ROM with WinMo 6.5 and HTC Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.20132227.0). Its growing on me. Definately snappy compared to 2.1, but after a couple days I'm still looking for answers to the following:
-Slide to Unlock: ...every time the screen turns off it locks... is that necessary? Any settings or .cabs that'll give me a little more control of when it locks?
-Start Menu: Where can I get a 4-colum programs .cab for the displayed Start Menu programs... OR have the start menu display the standart WinMo 6.5 start menu. The .cabs I had for 2.1 don't seem to work.
-Programs tab: Where can I find a .cab to add a "Programs" tab back into the slider icons? The one I had for 2.1 (again) doesn't work. Also changing the registry entry in HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila doesn't work, either ("programs tab is hidden" from 1 to 0).
Any help would be appreciated.
yes you can change your lock screen settings...
It'll be somewhere in your settings... I cant tell you where as I myself never use it. I went into mine and saw in settings\system there was something called lock config so I'm sure your set up would have something like that.
the start menu... well in 6.5 they have the honeycomb menu. I think I read back a long while ago about a way to make it go old school I just havnt seen in it a long while... same with the programs tab. They took that out of 2.5
my advice... go to this thread and read about the add on and then add it. It adds SO much funtionality to sense it just makes the standard one look stupid
[Manila Mod][19-Jun-2010] Co0kie's Home Tab v1.8.5
then you'll need this to do the changes
[APP] CHTEditor v1.8.5.1 [UPDATE 19-JUN-2010]
note the screen shots in the links. You can have any number of layouts and "pages" that swipe up and down for different short cuts right on your home screen. Different clocks, notification bars etc etc.
Options for Start Menu Replacement WM 6.5
-Lock Screen: You should be able to locate lock config under Settings or Settings--->System (However, if you decide to use the aforementioned Cookie Home Tab Mod, the lock config is modified using Cookie Home Tab Editor under the Lock Screen menu.
-Start Menu: Try (utak3r's modified Quickmenu and Joe Wilcox's Awesome Start (not free but you may like to try these start menu replacements: Hilauncher and Panoramic Launchpad)
-Programs Tab: Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619253 and you will see that Cookies Home Tab is probably the way to go...
