Hello. I've been trying to stream mobitv over wifi and i'm getting a "Make sure your wifi security supports RTSP streaming" message. What am I doing wrong?
i am also having the same problem... mobitv works fine on the data connection but won't play with wifi. it says to "verify the wifi rstp settings" or something like that

After many hours of playing around, I finally found out that using WPA-PSK encryption does NOT work with an XDA2i using my Netgear WGT624 router, and that I have to use Shared WEP encryption for the WiFi to work.
It works fully now for internet AND MSN messenger, but when I try to get any Audio or Video to stream using Windows Media player, I get an "Error" but it does not explain what that error is.
Is that something to do with the settings on the router, perhaps blocked ports? Or is it going to be an XDA setting problem?
Also, if anyone knows, why does WPA-PSK NOT work with the XDA2i even when it IS listed in the XDA2i settings??
Thanks,
Dazzer
Hi guys iv run into a bit of an issue with my tytan

any thoughts ???thanks
Are you streaming off the internet? If yes, you need to go to Settings > Connections > Network Cards > Network Adapters, and set "My network card connects to the internet." Otherwise bot pIE and Meda Payer will kee trying to use your GSM/3G connection.
hi sorry its not from the internet im trying to stream music/movies over my home wifi network on my PC, and im using resco explorer 5 to do it,over the network,
I have been using this phone with DCD's rom for a while now and I have never really used wifi. I decided I want to stream some things (like TV, music and movies) from my home computer to my phone while im at work but I have very crappy service at my work and when i disconnect the data service and connect my phone to wifi all my programs say they cannot access the internet. HOw can I set it up so that my software will use the wifi by default and then use data service if wifi is off or disconnected? I have gone through all the settings and im at wits end! THanks for any help!.
soooooo any ideas?
Maybe my phone is unique, but it seems to always default to WIFI when it is on and connected. You could check by turning on WIFI and then trying to access something locally (like the WIFI router settings).
thats the problem. when i connect to my wireless router (or any wireless router) non of my internet apps work. then when i disconnect and use data service they work fine. I guess ill try to install the newest dcd rom and see how it goes
Go into settings and ensure you set your wifi connection as "The Internet" and not "Work" as if you set it to "Work" the applications won't work as they want an internet connection.
I figured it out. for some reason or another i must have set it to use a static network ip and not the DHCP provided address. its working now.
Logs in fine when on wi-fi but whenever I try on 3G (on T-mobile UK) get the following messaget:
"There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again."
Reception is fine with online browsing and everything else working through the 3G connection. On version 10.6.0042.1900 of Windows Live Messenger. Anyone else had this?
Do you have your data plan connection set up to use a proxy? I found that no matter what I did I could not receive mail or connect to msn over 3G if that setting was enabled.
Just go to Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks->(select your connection under Internet)->Edit...->Proxy Settings
Here tick "This network connects to the Internet" and untick "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
That fixed my problem. Hope it helps

Maybe t-mobile blocking it? They do say you aren't supposed to use IM.

you are the best dude
Thank-you so much - can't believe how simple that was!
This hasnt worked for me ;-( getting fed up now, tried everything to get it working. Im o2 payg,....any ideas???
I do this and a few minutes later the proxy server is back again. I cannot stop it from returning. Will a registry edit make it go away permanently?
I am on stock android 2.1 (non-rooted).
I use an app called Vulkano to connect to a place-shifting hardware to view live TV on my mobile. This is the company's own app.
I removed sprint's rtsp proxy and I can connect to this rtsp stream over 3G but when I try to connect over wifi, the connection fails.
Any thoughts on this odd behavior? Perhaps it is the app, but I wonder if there are any settings that might prevent the wifi connection from connecting.

Was it working with the proxy in place? Are you on your own wifi network, or a public one?
It was working sporadically over 3G with the proxy. The RTSP proxy set by Sprint causes issues with rtsp response timeouts so it would work maybe 20% of the time. Removing the proxy it connects without issue over 3G.
As far as wifi goes, I am not using any proxy. The connection fails both at home as well as at work - both wifi networks. Since the PC client connects without issue, I don't think the service provider is the issue. I'm leaning towards the app being the issue but haven't ruled out that the phone settings could somehow prevent connection.
