digital compass issue.. - HD2 General

Hi,
I need help with digital compass, since a few day it doesn't show the etalonnage screen anymore, it will be great if it working well but it doesn't...
Thanks

it would calibrate itself even if the calibration screen is not showing up. Just do the 3D 8 figure. And if you really want the calibration screen, take your HD2 next to a big magnet when compass is working. Speakers are fine.

Ok thanks , working now ....

Proximity Sensor Problem 1.61 :-( Is this the issue?

Hi all again,
I must saw I've NEVER had to do so many posting for a single phone... anyway.
I just updated my Leo to 1.61 via a tortuous goldcard process and the proximity sensor is still not working correctly My wife is the main user of the phone and I was watching her while on a call- the screen was on and off like some demented Xmas lights.
I have a theory regarding the problem. It's only my wife who has the problem with the phone, it's seems ok with me (but I don't use it as much!). The phone is very wide, and the proximity sensor is not central. I think that the sensor is missing her ear (she has small ears!). The gap between her ear lobe top and her head is too great for the sensor. I tested the sensor gap with my thumb and it seems to be around 1cm to activate.
The hardware solution is either move the sensor so it's central (that's not going to happen soon) OR increase the sensitivity of it.
Does anyone know how to change the sensitivity of the sensor OR anyway to completely disable the touch screen during a call.
Hmm I can not believe that, I've tested my sensor:
It put the lights out if i come closer that 1,5 cm next to the screen during a call. So it think this is not the source of your problem.
But: I'm running a 1.48 rom...
I had the proximity sensor behaving eratically upon installing a screen protector. Even though I installed the original HTC screen protector which has 2 holes to position exactly over the sensors but even then I had problems. Ever since removing the screen protector everything is okay again.
Just thought if your problem also coincides with installing a screen protector.
Regards
The problem occurs when your hair overlaps the proximity sensor, the light immediately comes on. Stick the phone back to the ear and the proximity sensor works perfectly on time.
p.s. ive long hair and I too faced this problem and figured it out by running a few test as mentioned above ;-)
Hope this helps.
well, I'm having the same problem and It's not caused because of my hair. it just sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. the test I make is using the palm of my hand. if during one call It's not working, it won't work no matter what you do. then if I make a call and its working, I can turn on and off the screen placing my hand in front of the sensor..

I reckon you clear the area around the receiver and try doing a hard reset.
CAUTION: Take an individual back of your data rather than doing a full backup using some software.
same problem
Hi, I have the same random proximity sensor bug problem. During call accidental hang-up happens every day. I have short hair and no screen protector. Is there any solution for this yet? thanks.
I wrote to HTC already, but they claim there is no problem reported. Sory for my English.
Had a similar problem. My proximity sensor is now working fine. Install the 'Proximity Sensor for Screen Off v0.2' cab. Search the forum for the thread.
thanks for tip, hope this little app will "evolve"...
hi,
i had the problem with the proximite, that it is only working when the phone is in portrait mode. when im incall and portrait i can put my finger to the sensor and it is working perfect. when i rotate the display to landscape the sensor does nothing and the display stays on. unfortunatly i turn the phone sometimes on the way to my ear, and so the screen stays on.
i will try now the mentoined .cab and see what it does for me.

Am I the only one having orientation rotate problem ?

I wonder if my unit is faulty. I find that the auto rotate does not work very well. It refuses to rotate sometimes, and the only way seems to be to shake it. But when I do so, sometimes the orientation is upside downs.
Am I alone with this problem?
Hi Steve, my auto rotate isn't totally perfect but i'd say its good enough and i certainly haven't had to shake it yet lol
I find sometimes you need to lift it up (as if taking a picture) to let gravity kick in on the sensor.
Just had a thought....I installed a compass app (i think on the first day i got the phone) and i had to move the phone in a figure 8 to calibrate it, maybe i calibrated mine without knowing? that is if it even uses the same sensor?
Oh well, may be the fact that it does not rotate well is a good thing when using on bed. I'm looking at the half full glass.

Problem with Auto rotate

I just got my note and am having problems with auto rotate.
I ran the tests in *#0*#
It looks like they all passed fine
But sometimes mine rotates n it's own and when it rotates, it sticks in Horizontal.
I do not understand the calibration instructions for Horizontal and Gyroscope.
For instance, when it says place device on a level surface and press calibrate, does that mean just place it on it's back on a table? Also, after it is done calibrating, should the gyroscope "ball" on that page move when you move the device? Mine is always stationary.
On the horizontal calibration, how do you position the device before you hit the calibrate button? Should it be landscape or portrait?
IMO they don't explain these very well and it's confusing how to set this up.
Yes, just place it on a table or the floor. Not sure with the gyroscope since i don't have the Note yet, but i imagine the ball moves.
If this is a bug it's a software bug. All Desire HD owners including me had the auto rotate bug when it got released. These are bugs that's very common on freshly released Android devices, and it will get fixed.

Here's the question I have:
I only have 30 days for return if it's broken. Nobody else has complained about auto rotate yet and I would think that would come out pretty fast. I figured out mine had a problem 30 seconds out of the box.
Hi les_garten (another maemo/TMO refugee here!) - I've had my note for over a week, haven't seen any spontaneous rotations at all. I calibrated my gyro on day 1 though I think you don't ned to unless you are having problems. Once calibrated, the blue ball just sits in the centre of the circles, it doesn't move at all.

Thanx for that info! Mine also rotates when I turn horizontal, then won't go back into portrait.
How do you do the Horizontal calibration. Do you stand it on it's edge in landscape mode?
I'll never give Nokia another Nickel! Great idea with dismal execution.
horizontal calibration just involves sitting it flat on a flat surface. After calibration the ball can be "rolled" across both axes - like I said above, for me at least the gyro calibration screen does not allow the ball to roll at all either before or after calibration (hope that's what's supposed to happen, I've never had a phone with a gyro before, I would have assumed the ball was meant to move in response to tilt/turn ....

if you go into the dialer and dial *#0*#
then do sensors and run the Gyro tests and graph, it seems to be fine.
I have to keep auto rotate off.
It will rotate Landscape, but won't return to portrait.
It wil flip Landscape on one side and Landscapeon the other side, but won't do portrait, till auto rotate is turned off.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?
I guess I could whack it and start over, but that blows! That would at least tell me something I guess.
It's really irritating. And I would hate to keep it if it is broke.
I have the auto rotate bug also...you need to try many times before it will rotate... kind of embarrsing.. but I am sure it will be fixed first..but sometimes I wonder..if samsung have tired the phone at all before they ship it...such fundamental feature should work...without any problems

Thanx. I just did mine last night as well.
Very happy now!
i just got a galaxy note 3 weeks ago and it is running gingerbread 2.3.6
i have the same problem for the auto rotation problem, when i test the gyro and horizontal calibration, the ball doesnt move or move in a very laggy motion, when i lever my phone to a certain angle in all direction, the ball will not move in some area of the display. i had calibrated once before it has this problem, the ball move smoothly in any angle...now my message will auto rotate to landscape while i holding it in potrait...please help
I can't actually help fix anything - but if you enter *#0*# in the dialer and then select "sensor" from the LCD tests, then "image test" (under accelerometer sensor) you'll get a picture of a dog whichshould rotate between portrait & landscape as you rotate the phone, and there is an overlayed real time display of x and y axis angles as registered by the accelerometer.
This test should at least show whether the h/w is working or not.
Fix here

I can fix that. This is from galaxy S2 but i dont knows how for Note, i try and working for Note. But after install from CWM, i see Setting/Display/ Gyroscope calibrationand Horizontal calibration. It not working. I was very afraid and i flash new rom N7000ZSLPF---------4.0.3 http://hotfile.com/dl/156123968/e690f65/N7000ZSLPF_N7000OZSLPF_OZS.zip.html
And now Gyroscope not work but rotation is work good.
Sorry my English

I9500 Palm motion Sensor problem

The sensor is responsible for the Palm Motion (screenshot capture with hand gesture in front of the sensor) and the "Mute/pause" by covering the sensor, doesn't work for me ... I guess it's sensor problem, but It could be also software problem...
Anyway I'm on S4 I9500 (what they call Octa core) I'm rooted (Cofface root) and my Android version is in attached image.
I'll be happy if you guys can check if it works in your device... just go to:
Settings> My device> motion and gestures, then turn on the "PALM MOTION" toggle...
And if you make a gesture above the screen from right to left or left to right and the device does not take a screenshot, you probably also have this problem ...
I'd be happy if you comment here and update us.
By the way - what is Samsung's secret dial-up codes to check the sensors?
Thank you!
By the way, I found some schematics for the I9500 and I see that the left sensor is a light sensor and not proximity/gesture sensor... but anyway, I've activated all Motion and gestures toggles, but Palm motion still doesn't work!
Quick glance does work perfectly and also other Gestures and auto brightness, so I don't understand why the palm motion doesn't work if it uses the same sensors?
http://www.boeboer.com/wp-content/u...9500-user-manual-keys-parts-device-layout.jpg
Any ideas?
Just so you know, I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to take a screenshot the "gesture" way and, unlike on the SGS3, it seems the side of your palm needs to be physically touching the screen as you swipe from left to right. At least it does for me!
Hi, 10x for your reply...
I tried all variations, but no luck... :\
And Palm mute/pause doesn't work too...

Palm mute/pause doesn't work for me either. Hardly any of the gesture's work well enough to be useful
hhmmm... this is so weird... I tried it on my friend's S4 and everything works great!
I think this is a software problem, I think I'm gonna download the latest Firmware and flush it via odin and check it again on stock version! maybe something messed up when I rooted my phone, or my stock firmware is not the latest one? (chek my attached image) does your device runs the exact same firmware as mine dose?
10x.:good:
Update!:good:
Ok I think I found the problem, for those who have that same problem, relax, probably the hardware is fine, As I assumed, this is a software problem (specific Build I guess) I dialed #*#0* in the Dialer Aoo and it's launched the device sensors debugger... and there you guys can check if the sensors are fine!
I suggest to check these particular sensors:
1. light sensor
2. proximity sensor
3. gesture sensor > Direction
and there you can verify if it's a software issue or hardware issue...
hope this helps somebody.
cheers!

That number doesn't work for me
Ooops...
My mistake, the right number is: *#0*# (star hashtag 0 star hashtag )
good luck !
Your hand has to physically touch the screen. Then both screen shot and mute work
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
AIR
Meltus is right. Your palm needs to cover the screen physically in order to work. As for the screen shot, the palm needs to physically swipe the screen

Can I recalibrate the gyroscope? Auto rotate not working well

Hello everyone,
About a month ago I got my LG G6 as a replacement for my V10 (worst device I've owned) through AT&T insurance. I've noticed the gyroscope rotation is barely working. Only about 20% of the time the screen rotates when I turned my phone. I can force it by holding the power sleep button, waiting for the power options to show up then rotate my phone. Most of the time that forces it. Otherwise I have to reset my phone and it works for a while then fails again.
Is there any way to recalibrate the gyroscope?
Have you tested in the smart doctor app (preinstaled) in the window of hardware test? It could show that is not working well.

It says everything is good from my gyroscope to accelerometer and motion sensor.
