Whats the Most SPEEDY HD2 ROM of them ALL!! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

Guys i am all confused with the cool ROM's found here. every ROM's got its advantages and disadvantages. Since when i was using the Touch HD before i tried all the cooked ROM's of wm6.5 with sense 2.5 found there and it got a lot faster in the later releases like the Great Miri's and Topix ROM's in the Touch HD Thread. Like that, I want to find out if there would be a noticeably faster ROM out there for my HD2 than the original shipped HD2 ROM (1.72.831.1 (82124) WWE) that i am using right now. which is the most speedy and stable ROM suggestion for HD2 on XDA. Could you kind people help me please???

in my opinion- artemis v10

Try Energy ROM. He always take a gook look on speed.

touchxtreme for me. energy roms kick ass too.

Kumars Classic 1.9 ROM is very very fast

Touch X-treme is a verry good and fast ROM..

~-==!=¶°§ BuGGy ROM™ °§¶=!==-~ v.20.10+ is the most SPEEDY!

Rule of thumb is, as long as the ROM is running on top of WM 6.5 build 21xxx, it will be faster than WM 6.5.5 build 23xxx. It is unfortunate that most of the custom ROMs here are running on top of WM6.5.x. Another thing is, speed is meaningless if the ROM is unstable.

CleanEx for me...
and funnily enough, this thread is basically a list of all threads in the ROM section....meaning you are in no better position from before you posted this thread!
all roms are pretty fast and good, just flash one and try it, if you dont like, go to the next...everyone has different tastes!

in before the lock.
Laurentius roms?
Xannytech's are nippy.
Kumar+Cleanex are also nippy.
I did not find the com5 from energy to be as impressive as his com2 build.
In general however, stick with Com2 for stability+speed. COM5 IS seductive tho. nice and rounded rom.

Energy ROM for me!

The most speedy rom/the best rom/the most lite rom/ and so on all depends on what you are looking for.
Best advice we can all give you is to look at the "spec sheets" for each rom, narrow them down and give a few a try.
Good luck with it.

HTC Sense 2.5 on Blackstone

So.. after I've tried almost every Manila 2.5 ROM, i can finally flash back
to 'Miri's WM 6.5 | V33.0' and keep it (until i get HD2 device).
Sense 2.5 works really slow on the Blackstone, no matter what ROM i use.
On the other hand, Sense 2.1 is fast and stable, and the differences in terms of speed are huge.
Personally i think that Sense 2.5 doesn't worth it, but i would like to get
your opinions on this matter. maybe i'm missing something.
What makes you use it?
The only differences i found is new tabs like 'footprints' and shortcuts on
the home page.
Have you ever tried a rom from flashmore?! I agree...most of the roms I have tested are really slow. However, I do not know how flashmore managed it, but his rom is really fast. There is no difference in the speed to manila 2.1 roms. Give it a chance and post your feedback!!!
You can find the link to download the rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598688
Download the newest version and I promise you will be surprised!!!!
Sounds interesting.
I'm gonna flash this ROM and will post my feedback for sure..
Thanks.
EDIT: Flashed and played with it for a couple of hours, and although the manila works faster than in any
other 2.5 ROM i tried, it's still laggy and not as fast as Manila 2.1. The new manila takes lots of resources and causes
my device to overheat.
For me there was no striking difference in speed.....but maybe if you take a close look at both versions 2.1 is a little bit faster. However, flashmores version is definetly not slow! Maybe...and I say maybe it is a alittle bit more energy consuming than 2.1 versions, but the design of manila 2.5 is waaay better than in 2.1 and htc sense is something that I do not wanne miss!! However it is a question of taste in my opinion
I agree with you with regards to the speed of manila 2.5 on the Blackstone. I am running the latest flashmore rom, and it is nowhere near the speed of the 6.1 / manila 2.1 roms (Topix ones are really the best in my opinion).
However, the following makes me keep trying the new 6.5/Sense2.5 roms:
- Better integration of the agenda functions into sense: the "agenda" view is great and the HTC screen for new appointments is much more functionnal than the MS one
- Better integration of emails: I love the mail preview of 2.5 (although I miss the fact that you cannot mark the messages as read from here)
- Much better Fav Contacts page, with a lot more options and and more direct access to your favorite contacts.
- The new document type is nice
That's about it, but these are functions I use constantly. Of course, the tradeoff is huge (slow!, HTC messenging awfully sluggish, laggy weather tabs...) and that's why I am still flashing weekly in hope of a significant increase in manila2.5 speeds
I'm using Miri v16 with sense 2.5 and I think that it's really a fast rom

I think the best way to enjoy Sense 2.5 is by getting an HD2
You should watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt6LHOi5Q58 and
see how fast sense 2.5 supposed to be.
We should be grateful for having the opportunity to test this system on our
Blackstone, thanks to the devs, but for now, i find sense 2.1 as a better
choice for a day-by-day ROM.

Hi Pimpdaddyd,
I've just read the last 20 pages of the thread for that ROM, which include a load of issues regarding the latest version!
The thread itself seems to recommend flashing an earlier version?
Anway, out of interest:
1. Is HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex by OliNex a suitable HSPL to flash this ROM?
2. With regards to the instruction "copy this file to the windows folder with a file manager, it may ask to overwrite, this will correct the default background for Manila and dont forget to softreset." ..... Can I just do this via Active Sync instead of file manager?
Thanks,
Mattster.
I, like you, was tired of dogginess on 2.5 manila roms and always went back to 6.5/2.1 roms. I was in and out of flashmore, it has always been my favorite 2.5 rom but there always seemed to be a bug here and there which kept me from falling in love. Flashmore is awesome and he does a great job but I was not 100% happy like I was with a good weather clock 2.1 rom.
But yesterday I put in the cloudy rom and wow! Mamma mia that is one smooth running rom. It's perfect for me. After flashing 20+ roms on my phone I think I finally found the one that's going to keep me from playing with my phone.
Please be sure to give the cloudy a try before you give up. I'm not trying to be a fanboy or anything but after being frustrated for so long I think I'm finally happy with a Leo rom and wanted to share.
Good luck.

That video is definitive. But I consider it's imposible to get that speed even in manila 2.1 in our Blackstone
I've tried almost any 2.5 manila rom and always a I return to a 2.1 one. Now I'm running topix and it's smooth and sufficient for me.
Never a 2.5 rom will be as fast a 2.1 one, it's a matter of hardware.

Well, I tried it and decided although Sense 2.5 has a better weather animation and a "week to a view" agenda, there is no way I could put up with the lag for more than a day. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm back to Topix WM6.1 with Sense 2.1.
Mattster.
honestly try blackDragon Rom 1.8...it's worth...cause it's as smooth as a blackstone rom can be.
Seriously guys, check out this thread.

You would be doing an injustice to yourself if you did not at least investigate it and read the comments. Many of you are not aware of Cloudyfa because this is his first rom for the Blackstone but he's a long time, highly respected chef and his 1.0 for Blackstone is nothing short of amazing. At least read the thread. This thing runs like melted butter on my phone, the closest my phone has ever gotten to feeling like an HD2.
This is the last I will say about it.

I'm using Miri WM 6.5 21889 :: MANILA 2.5 :: REV 18.0 as my current Sense 2.5 ROM with the Driver Pack 3 and GFXBoost but not the Mikenif driver.
Also...don't forget the Leo Patch for the driver pack from Chainfire.
Also on a side note... the best 2.1 ROM I used was also Miri's (v35)

HTC Touch HD Windows 6.1 best rom

Hi,
I was looking for a rom based on the latest version of official Windows 6.1 that is faster, very stable & has extra software as I am not impressed with Windows 6.5 roms at the moment.
I want a rom that works 100% like the official roms, just faster.
Can anyone help
Thanks
JAW$
You will have to try by yourself.... there's NO such thing as "best ROM".
Extra software? What extra software?

I keep trying all different 6.5 roms but keep going back to Dutty's 3.9 XT rom. Its very stable and probably the best 6.1 rom IMO.
If you want more of a customized version of 6.1, choose one of Dutty’s latest ROMs (note that Dutty stopped making custom ROMs for the HD long ago). Else if you want some raw performance boost, choose a Topix ROM especially the vanilla ones.
Fact is, choosing the best ROM is a matter of preferences. Taste of yours may vary from thousand others with the same device. Hence, before choosing a custom cooked ROM, forget the positive reviews people give on the ROM and instead, test them yourself personally. Probably have each of the ROM running in your device for atleast one day to analyze which one performs better and finally choose the best one for your taste.
Topix 3.5 is a very sweet ROM. One version even has the weather thing if that is to your tastes. Needs a little tweaking, like Tom's Extended Menu for the start button, but is super fast and stable.
+1 for Topix. Played around with Dutty's and when I went to Topix it felt blazing fast. Still using Topix.
hi
i'm italian,i found the best rom for me:
lucapicci nextgen 1.7.2
it's light and powerful.
but, about wwe,i've tried miri and topix, and feelin good.

WM6.1 + Sense 2.5?

Since the speed in WM6.1 is far better than WM6.5 or WM6.5.x, Would it possible to have a WM6.1 + HTC Sense 2.5 instead?
KWBR's ROM
There is no WM 6.1 with Manila 2.5 anymore.. The most projects are on ice:
As example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547278
PS: KWBR's 6.1 ROMs are not using Manila 2.5, just 2.1
I still own a Diamond and tested out the Gen.Y D2X R2.6 from yozgatg:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=590090
Especially when I installed Cookie's Home tab with WM6.1 + Sense 2.5, my diamond was super smooth. First time I felt my old Diamond was better than my HD.
Really hope to see a version for the Blackstone...

miri did one way back, it was the fastest 2.5 todate still, i would like to see one to manilla 2.5 2012 and 6.1 would be awesome mix, speed stability and sense 2.5.
Would also love this, the speed of something like SL's Cleanrom, and the looks of Cloudys 6.5 roms, beauty and speed rolled into one.
Its really what im after, the best combination of fewest bugs, snappiest with 6.1 resource levels (for multitasking) with a dark black clean look and animated beauty of sense.
Are people's perception of fast or slow ROMs reflective of the difference between running 6.1 vs 6.5 or is it simply that most 6.5 also have Sense 2.5 which makes the ROM slower?
I guess I can't tell the difference between a stripped down 6.1 or stripped down 6.5 as far as performance goes. But a stripped down ROM seems faster than either ROM running Sense 2.5.
I'm not talking about benchmark scores of a few points higher or lower, but in actual use of the device.
Reading about the differences between 6.1 and 6.5 suggest that the operating system is identical besides a few visual changes for the most part. And of course the visual changes are very minor and wouldn't cause slowdowns anyhow. So I don't know why 6.1 would be any faster than 6.5 or vice versa, assuming you're using the same UI.
The only one i can find that is a cooked 6.1 + Manila 2.5 is:
Miri WM 6.1 21054 - MANILA 2.5 :: V 3.0 [DISCONTINUED]
Considering all other threads related to this topic talk about how there will be lots of bugs, I think miri's V3 is going to be the least buggy since its probably one of the if not the only WWE 6.1 + Manila 2.5 you'll ever see.
(or at least until 6.5 is finished and a cook decides to try 6.1 + the newest HTC stuff again.)
So before this topic gets closed, I just want to share this, because I feel 6.5 is no good for resources at all, I haven't had a 6.5 rom yet which I can use the HTC music player and do anything else at the same time due to lack of resources.
as for the miri rom, many report of bugs but lots of them got fixed, its said to be much faster then the 6.5 roms, some say that the Manila 2.5 is not what makes the phone slow but the OS.
If I can get these features working on this rom:

HD Tweak: Fine
BGForAll w/Mortscript: Doesn't work (Sets all backgrounds black and is irreversable AFAIK)
StartMenuGrid4: Doesn't work (No bad side effects found)
Neo's DriverPack Signed 2010: Works!! Its like going from a 256 colour Windows desktop to a 32bit one, If you try the above rom this Cab is Highly recommended to fix up bad colours and speed it up further [linky]
Dusk Evolution 2.5 v4.0: Works!! (Changes boot loader to say WM6.5, Sense wallpaper doesn't work after applying)
Left to try:
S2U2

well but sine 6.5 still is buggy on the HD trying to make it happened for 6.1 is not an issue miris rom is the best sense 2.5 rom out there, the fastest most responsive.
Bugs are there to resolve before miri did this rom numerous ppl said it was impossible, miri proved it was not for a skilled chef that knows his way around the kitchen.
I think we need a chef that stands out from the rest
Its certainly very fast compared to other roms!! and because its Sense 2.5 its elegant too.
I would love to fix up a few bugs ive found in the rom, however I dont have the skill
Still, Its now my permanent rom.
Im very happy with miris 6.1 Sense 2.5 rom

probably this is just for the real experts not many chefs ould pull this off, miri could, but he has moved on
I'm still not satisfied with the peformance actually.
Maybe Sense 2.5 is part of the problem.
The Touch HD is a fairly powerful mobile, it should be capable of performing several tasks without freezing up.
Im going to keep using 6.1, An XDA forum member did bechmarks of all the 6.1 roms that were around at the time they did the benches. Any of the top several roms should peform really nice:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5264370&postcount=760
I will probably download and flash one of them tomrrow.
Can anyone show me the link to Miri's WM6.1 + Sense 2.5 rom? I would like to try it out. Thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind, found it. For those interested:

yeah, it was 7 posts up.
its quite a good rom, its a bit buggy I could point out a bunch, most of them are tolerable considering the speed of the rom compared to 6.5 roms.
As the Rom is discontinued, can someone post a mirror please because Rapidshare sucks very bad to me....
edit: sorry I can't up it right now.

energy cht rom. does what i need it too and imo it is.
elegancia CHT 9.5!

#1 ROM out there!!!
WaterBear v2 lite WWE
No manilla/sense, I prefer my own home screen.
It is compatable with the radio which provides me with the best battery life (2.10.50.26, on the O2 network in England).
It doesn't freeze daily like the stock roms.
I get and send all my SMSs ( I think ) (These last 2 reasons being the only reason I bothered to flash a ROM, and are fixed issues in all cooked ROMs. I like minimal OS to build my PPC up from, I don't want everything most chefs cook in.)
I've tried a few others, and they look very nice, if you like that sort of thing, but they're not as functional for me as my setup, personally I use my phone, not drool over the graphics. and the battery life was poor compared to this.
mine that im cooking lol
Energy Rom definitely, Laurentius26 has good ROM's as well.

Android on SD is faster than WM custom rom

I am using the Elegancia rom with 2.12 radio with very little additional customization and I'm very disappointed that the Hyper Droid rom is actually faster than my windows mobile os. I do like windows mobile as I dont think android on the hd2 is ready yet.Is there really any definitely solid WM rom out there that you guys can recommend.
I am very comfortable with customizing the phone and so on but I am a very busy person and don't have the time to tinker around.I need something which works outside the box with minimal thinking, and don't ask me to get an iphone
what exactly is faster?

Yeah I have been an Energyrom user since the TP2 and it has always been one of the fast and astheatically pleasing, they are popular for a reason. And please don't take this as a diss to all the great chefs here, this is just my opinion with experience from two different phones.

I would most definitely recommend any one of Dutty's Roms. Stability and speed being the key words.
Best ROM I have used for HD2 has been the one by indie. Super fast, stable and with no battery drain. I havent'd had good luck with energy roms starting with the older touch HD, and they used to eat up the battery very fast. Try out indie's, I am sure you'll like it. Dutty's is good as well.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692763 I am using the one with Cookie's home tabs. One with Dinik's customizations is great too.
I tried a lot of different custom roms, but the Miri - DINIK rom works for me the best. It's so bloody fast and stable. Not one single freeze (even after a long period of standby) and excellent battery performance (2.12 + 2.14).
Energy ROMs do not work for me, the battery is dead within one working day and I don't find it stable. Too much tweaktools which cause slowdown. I really appreciate their support, but it seems that the Rom is not specifically made for the HD2.
well the elegancia rom uses miri's rom as the base as well. It is significantly faster than stock rom and I'm really impress with it. But the android builds just blast through anything than windows mobile can offer
